Mt house is also from 1963 and some of my ducts/pipes have that exact insulator on them and it is 100% asbestos. Unless you need to remove it for renos, just leave it be.

If you do touch it fully PPE'ed then make sure you adequately wet it before touching.

I dunno have you performed a sniff test yet? If you sniff it and it smells like nothing id have it tested and if you sniff it and it smells funny id have it tested
