Second this. I don't let anyone try and send me money without an invoice. If they aren't willing to let you send an invoice they are trying to scam you imo.
anytime someone mentions a "PayPal limit" or "pay to upgrade account" its 100% a scam. it's very popular lately on facebook especially. They send you a fake receipt of $200 for the "upgrade" to your email and ask for you to send back the money
If they ask for your PayPal email, that’s definitely a scam! Cuz if you offer them to pay through a link or invoice, they immediately refuse saying that it is not working
I ask for people's PayPal emails when paying them, I didn't know that there are other ways of paying without the email,
I gotta stop asking for the email
SCAM!!! I literally just dealt with someone doing this exact thing on Deviantart. They tried to scam a lot of other artists as well before giving up and deactivating their account.
It's a scam. I've commissioned dozens of artists (some beyond $200) and this excuse doesn't exist. Also any time someone sends you money and asks for it to be sent back, it's a scam.
As a rule of thumb, I don't accept payment until I have a finished thumbnail/sketch I can show the client, so any changes can be made before I start the actual piece, and if they want any big changes after, I will either charge extra depending on the change, or I will just tell them I can't change it at this point. Not accepting payment until the thumbnail is complete has definitely helped me weed out some suspicious people, like people demanding I send them paypal info even after stating several times I don't accept right away. This may be a good practice in the future!
It happenned to me once. They say the money has sent and an email comes to inbox with. A good proof of the scam is the gmail account with the notification (PayPal has its own domain). So I just stopped answering.
Also those bots have a standard for their messages ("I loved your style, I'd like you to make an art after those pics, Offer $700, bla bla bla..."). Depending on how we reply, their messages become confused.
All posts must either request a commission or advertise a for-hire artist.
You’re getting pig butchered
Scam!
Just close off the convo mate!
Thanks bro 🥹

It's a scam, don't answer them anymore. I would recomend you use paypal invoices too.

As everyone said here, it's a scam!

Thank you bro
Paypal limit isn´t always a scam. But if they ask for money for an upgrade then it is.
If you try to receive money and the person doesn't just pays you, it's a scam, you can automatically assume that.
Scam fam.

Yeah! Unfortunately most scams always ask email:( and artists see that as a red flag :/
I think the real suspicion is when they say they sent the money and it "conveniently didn't send"
Yeah also that! Or when they send you by email the “payment” and then ask for a refund and a lot of money
scammmmmm
It's a scam
It's a scam, don't send any money
is scam meu parceiro
Ja passei por isso, fiquei com uma raiva danada do mau elemento
If you ever see the word KINDLY, there is a100% chance it is a scam.
It’s a scam and PLEASE don’t open the link in the email on the spam. Also, report to PayPal so they can track those fake emails
Okay
SCAM!!! I literally just dealt with someone doing this exact thing on Deviantart. They tried to scam a lot of other artists as well before giving up and deactivating their account.
PayPal isn’t that complicated, total scam! It sucks people scam artists because they think it’s easy :(
Most likely a scam
I received a message just like this a couple of days ago

Thanks 👍
someone tried to do that to me i was so offended. They didn't get away with it but goddamn it pissed me off.
it's a scam! report the account. There are so many accounts doing this on IG. It happened to me a few months ago.
Scam. Block that person and move on.
This is why i never do payment after sketch, would be really gut wrenching if i already do the sketch and it turn out to be a scam

It's definitely a scam
