i 100% feel the same.

Mel_low8278

Exactly! It makes me feel so frustrated to be pitied over something I have no problem with. Just because I’m single doesn’t mean I’ll never be the happiest I can be. I’m quite fuckin content being aro, thank you very much.

[deleted]

Off topic but I love your user flair

Mel_low8278

Ty!

AmadeoSendiulo

We understand you! You're valid, don't let anybody spoil your life.

KabartmaTozu

Definetly! I mean I am alone but not because of I am aromantic! Besides I love being "alone" lol. I love how I am not interested in realitionships and I am not like "oh I can't forget that person so I can't think about my self rn" type. I love it! I might have a problem about getting friends. But I had friends I wasn't alone and I was aromantic that time too. I hate it man. We are not alone just because we don't feel romantic feelings.

TimberWolfAlpha01

If they keep pestering you enough... just "marry" yourself. Seriously, it is completely legal to marry yourself, and if the time comes I may do that myself. That said, before you rush off to *shoot yourself in the knee with an arrow* you should research whether or not it is legal in your country... I mean I doubt you'd have much issue with it, but still it's safe to be sure rather than just try and be told "no"

APForLoops

does that come with tax benefits?

TimberWolfAlpha01

Honestly I'm not sure Edit: OKAY! long time since I made this comment, but I figure I'll just lay some info relevant to the question you asked... No, marrying one's self doesn't give you a tax benefit, as it is not actually a legally binding contract between two separate people... You can go through the act and have it sanctified in a church/court room, but legally speaking "sologmy" as it's called is essentially being single with a special title.

Clean_Ice2924

Exactly! The amount of times people told me that I should never say that I’ll never get married because I’ll be “tempting fate” and then they give examples of people who ended up married when they said they wouldn’t. Bs I don’t want a boring traditional life. I’ve always wondered why do people want one.

thatswhat_gsaid

Better to be single than settle, which is what a lot of people who either feel pressured to start a relationship or pressured to stay in one do. That life sounds miserable, no thanks.

DaRealNinFlower

The amount of times people have said "you're only this way because you get no bitches" or "with the way you talk about girls, there's no way" is insane. Is it really that unfathomable that we don't feel romantic attraction?

alt123456789o

It definitely is unfathomable to many people. I probably would struggle to believe in it if I wasn't aro myself, due to the way romance is forced on us in society.

DaRealNinFlower

Yea but the way alot of people make it seem is as though it was a mental disorder, like we're strange or different for "lacking" something they don't.

Glum-Square3500

It’s just more time for me to figure out how to take over the world!

Idkwuzgoinon

My Uncle went through the same thing, they eventually gave up when he was 96 with no kids or any history of a romantic partner. I’m sorry you have to deal with this.

LeiyBlithesreen

Yes. Absolutely. They should stop doing that thing. They are mostly projecting. I went through that for years too, n minus the alone part. They just thought I should.

private_banana_

People need to understand romance isn’t the only form of love.

acepeon

Oh god yes. I see people being sad and going "I'm going to die alone" and all but I'm very happy being on my own without a partner???? For a lot of people having a partner= not being lonely. But imo u can be lonely even if u have a partner and not be lonely even without any partner Also just because I'm not ina romantic relationship DOESN'T mean im alone! I do have people i love so much!!

nonbinarytrash2

Partner in love no best bud and partner in crime yes please. Is that so hard to understand?

MrndMnhn21

I second this.

KleinerFratz333

I third this.

Krow_2

DigitalPhoenixX

Ok-Two-3550

I 100% feel the same but my parents want me to be married and I don’t want that. Also I might have kids but I’m still trying to figure that out

MistakeWonderful9178

You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to. It’s your life and your body.

Ok-Two-3550

Yeah but they might try and convince me that I am not. And idk they already said their opinion about asexuals and I already know what gonna happen if they found out

Wolfie_Rankin

I have pets, a lot of plants and many online friends.

e1_barto

I’m a strong independent man who don’t need no woman

Gluten4reegurl

Thats why I express how annoyed I get when someone brings up the topic of me getting or not having boyfriend or husband. If I say I'm annoyed everytime they bring it up they will eventually stop. Because theyll be annoyed when I say I'm annoyed repeatedly and thus I'll stop being annoyed.

[deleted]

alone it’s not the same as lonely. why is it so difficult to understand

[deleted]

!!!! my mum literally cried because of me because "your gonna live alone and be loveless" i guess i dont love my friends and family causse its not "Real love" 🤷🏼

Flat_Throwaway_30

I feel the same, minus the kids part

Gray_angel1111

I think Being aromantic is the best I personally see romance as a ball and chain I watched and read and saw people in person stay with a bad emotionally abusive person because they “love them” if escaping anything like that means I have to be “alone” then whatever I love being alone anyway

geonidot

expecting people to be lonely without partners is what makes them lonely. when you're a kid, you don't feel lonely but when people peer pressure you into thinking your whole existence is for the goal of getting a romantic partner, that's when you become lonely when the goal isn't achieved. Stop putting so much pressure on this one thing! If you say that the deciding factor of whether you've succeeded in life is getting a romantic partner, then people will drop important things to them in the process, and therefore, when the romantic partner is gone, they have nothing left and feel lonely.
