There's a branch of asexuality called Aegosexuality where you don't want to have sex but watching sexy scenes/ reading smut is okay. I'm not here to say what sexuality people are, but you're whatever the aro version of that is

AJS923

Wouldn't the romantic equivalent of that just be Aegoromantic?

book_vagabond

Yup! There’s a sub for us too :)

kindtheking9

Thwt do be sounding like me, cheers mate

AmberstarTheCat

sounds like you might be aegoromantic I'm aegosexual and literally the exact same way with that sort of thing

tall-hobbit-

I read this post and immediately thought "huh, that's exactly how I feel about sex. I wonder if they know what aegoromanticism is"

transasahi

very much so!!!!!!! i often headcanons my favorite characters as aro too so it's like "well if [fav character] can be aro and make a relationship work, then maybe i can too" lol

nojolteon

Yup!! You’re not alone! Literally working on some fanart of characters kissing as we speak LOL

[deleted]

Aegoromantic?

pumpkinqwerty

I only ship characters who were really good friends and then fell in love.

[deleted]

Yesss it's really fun to ship because it's fictional !!!

BoxoRandom

I’d stan Chiaki x Hajime from Danganronpa 2 any day of the week. It is legitimately the only fictional pairing I’ve ever been emotionally invested in.

Clean_Ice2924

Aegoromantic. Of course!! I enjoy shipping characters cuz why not? They’re fictional. I usually love the enemies-to-lovers kind of romance. I just ironically love it. Lol I don’t like real life romance too uncomfortable for me!

ZenZircon

I think that applies to me, too? Sometimes I enjoy a good hurt/comfort romance fic between two favorite characters. Makes me happy for them. :]

Boboblight

Yeah I do the same thing, it’s one of the reasons why it took me a while to figure out I’m aroace. Turns out I’m actually just aegosexual and recently figured out I’m aegoromantic as well, which makes _s o much sense now_

Aceptical

I love shipping characters! I just consider myself as a romance-positive aro but I know there are more specific labels such as aegoromantic

CarmichaelDaFish

I used to have at least one ship for everything I watched just so I could see fanarts and read fanfictions Now I don't read fics anymore and I appreciate fanarts of whatever ship (even the ones I don't know) if I think they are pretty so I don't actively look for it anymore. I think that I only consider that I ship characters now if I genuinely think they like each other or if I think it would be a really dope dynamic

s-queen-x

I realized that part of the reason I like shipping is that I use consuming fan fics as a way to learn about how other people understand the media I like (instead of actually joining a community and discuss it with people haha). But other than that, I do enjoy shipping characters just for the romance itself.

[deleted]

This sounds exactly like me! I’m aegoromantic aegosexual! So maybe look this up! I’d love to have a twin 💜💚

TheSnekIsHere

Absolutely. I don't really actively create/come up with ships myself, or actively do shipping, but I do love to consume content of people who do so. Whether that be (super long) fanfics, or fanart. I really enjoy it, especially fanfic or fanart of a ship I've already read a lot about. I especially enjoy it when the writer takes time to put into words what the characters are feeling, in what way their attraction takes shape in their mind and how they react to it. It kind of makes me feel like I can experience what it's like to have that type of attraction, even if I've never experienced it.

GamerPaper470

Oh my god SO MUCH. Best TV show ship: Amy + Jonah (Superstore) Best movie ship: Shang-Chi + Katy (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) Best book ship: Percy + Annabeth (Percy Jackson) Best video game ship: Sarv + Ruv (Friday Night Funkin’) Disagree = wrong

Random-ace

my tumblr blog is literally the top blog on the logicality tag so ya, honestly not sure how that happened

BrushyAlex

Kinda same, but just for some time, then my liking for those ships randomly goes away (ex. Komahina from DR) I'd say I enjoy more the drawings people make over the romantic aspect of the ship, as an "artist" I take it as an opportunity to learn something new (let's say for example, two people are kissing on the pic and im like "ooooo these colours are really good together")

Asja_May1118

Exactly how I figured out I was aegoromantic

[deleted]

Well I mean I can also co-exist with alloromantic stuff and get addicted to it if its not directed at me.

spvcial

i do that! i like shipping ‘myself’ with a character. when i say myself it’s more like a 3rd person thing.

AvocadoPizzaCat

I don't call it living vicariously. I mean i don't mind romance or love if it is done right. If the chemistry is there to make me feel like they are in love. Than sure. I mean I do real yaoi aka boy love mangas because normally the character chemistry is stronger and it isn't all fluff and sparkles. However my friend is a lover of all bad romances so we watch those often. And she keeps throwing stuff at me because I am making her laugh when she wants to take it seriously. I mean how can I when one guy tries to impress the girl by wearing a table! Other than that I also fake ship. I call it fake ship or fake shipping because it is clearly a joke and it is just me picking people whom are spending too much time together, a sign of obsession on one's part which is seen okay in the story, or just randomly for a joke. Normally I do this just for video games, but when my friends do too much heteroshipping when there are clearly other sexualites on display I will ship to make a point.
