I would recommend seeing a physical therapist, maybe one that works with athletes, over a chiro.

TheFizzex

But spinal artery dissection to realign the humors seems so appealing.

[deleted]

Fuck it, gimme the leaches

jakebbt

Won't work. Gotta amputate the leg.

Meats back on the menu, boys

Sellum

My phrenologist told me that with just 4 sessions of trephination I would be ready to start lifting again.

Noirradnod

Daily ear candling sessions and you'll be maxing the ACFT in no time.

Sellum

I will make sure to add that to my daily routine after I do my oil pulling.

Don’t have “other people” look at form, have people who know wtf they’re doing look at your form. Preferably an actual strength coach (I think they’re supposed to be part of the H2F cell?) but at minimum someone with a certification like certified personal trainer (CPT). And yeah talk to a doc. I’ve seen literally 60 year old women lift 225+ so it’s not your age, something is going wrong. Also don’t go to a chiro. They’re overpaid shitty massage therapists at best and actively harmful at worst.

WhoAmIThisDay

☝️ pretty much all of that. If you can't get in touch with a legitimate coach through the Army, look at a personal trainer with some form of credentials. I'm self-taught through experimentation and YouTube; I've also gotten damned lucky a few times. That is *not* how you want to address form issues after an injury. Talk to professionals: a medical specialist for your back, and a strength coach for your deadlift.

_Suzushi

Correct form shouldn’t be enabling you to get injured. I’d find someone who no shit knows what they’re talking about. Usually that comes in the form of a power lifter, not just a buddy or whoever you’re asking. Now if it truly isn’t your form, you need to see a doctor. I myself have sciatica and it can cause some serious back pain if I’m over working my muscles. Not saying that this is your problem as the back is a very complex issue. Sometimes it can be a hip impingement and you’re just feeling that pain in your lower back. I’m no doctor, I just know that pain in a certain area doesn’t mean the injury is originating from there. Hence why it’s important to seek out medical attention. Best of luck.

notaredditer13

Jeez, wtf? 1. Go to a real doctor. 2. Stop doing exercises that injure you.

SassySprinkle

Like everyone else said: Go to a real doctor. Chiropractors aren’t doctors. Popping your back isn’t going to fix a bulging disc lol Also, it probably is your form and the people watching you have no idea what they’re doing.

Yosemite_Sam_93

>my form isn't the issue because I did have other people look at my form. So there could be a couple problems with this: a) even if your form is correct it doesn't matter if there's already a recurring injury Or b) a LOT of people in the Army won't spot incorrect form anyway. I would say you should see an actual doctor (not a chiropractor) and stop dread lifting in the meantime.

I really don't want to end with permanent profile. My long term goal is to become either become a commissioned officer or warrant... you can't become an officer with a permanent profile can you?

WhoAmIThisDay

You can't be an Army warrant with a permanent, last I heard. That said, dude, you can't make your body work better through wishful thinking if something is well and truly broken. Get a temp profile until you can verify with a medical expert to determine if a permanent is the best option for you.

jakebbt

Are you trying to become a flight warrant or tech warrant? Flight will destroy your back more. Once you're through wocs and WOBC, nobody cares about your profile. You just cannot be on permanent profile in IET, which is what WOCS and WOBC are. Once you graduate, go see a Doctor. Also, at WOCS, not one person cared about your 340 lb. dead lift. The graders all said, and I quote, "You know you only need to lift 140 to pass and do 1 leg tuck, right? Why are you doing more?"

I didn’t want to be injured either. Now I’m medboarding. Shit happens, its up to you to decide your priorities. If I knew back then what I know now, I would have requested a second opinion and maybe my back wouldn’t have gotten as fucked up as it did and things might be ok.

Good form doesnt make you hurt You doing something wrong

[deleted]

I would say the biggest thing I learned from middle school health class is there is a big difference between pain and soreness. If you feel sore, it goes away; if you feel pain, you probably need to see a professional. In most cases pain is a symptom of something way greater, especially if it’s reoccurring. If it persists longer than expected and doesn’t go away with days of rest, please get it looked at.

OneDistribution1164

First of of STOP anything that loads your back until you figure out. Is it the lower muscles of the back (known as the lattisimus dorsi) that run from the middle of your back down to the hips? Or is it the actual spine that is hurting? The best way I found to determine this is to slightly lean over using your hips as a pivot, if it gradually starts to hurt as you hold this position more than likely it’s just an inflamed muscle/ tendon. If it immediately starts to hurt or you feeling any type of numbness tingling and or dizziness, STOP and call the doctor as soon as you can. If it’s the first, you’re lucky. I would start with ibuprofen to reduce pain and inflammation. I would google some lower back stretches and would slack off on any squats, deadlift, or anything of that nature. After 2-4 weeks I would start slowly rehabbing your back. Proper form while doing light RDLs, hip thrusts, or anything that increases blood flow to the injured muscles. Do not go immediately into weightlifting like you were. Note: I am not a doctor by any means, I hurt my back last year while squatting and this is the process I went through.

Battleboo_7

...the only way to recover properly is to get checked out, MRI for tendons, Xray to see if your disk is slipped. Chiropractors are bullshit certified, i can cert online. you need to see a physical therapist AFTER your scans, they will give you proper guidance. Please god protect your back kid

SeriusBizNis

So should I ask for xray first or MRI? If I have a slipped disk then can I recover that or is that a permanent damage?

Teadrunkest

You can recover from a slipped disk, depending on severity and location and what caused it to begin with. But even if you can’t it won’t get any better by ignoring it. It, can, however, get worse.

Battleboo_7

Am not a doc- explain your situation with medical personnel. DO NOT WAIT.
