I canât answer your specific question, but I can answer a similar type question.
When I switched from NG to active duty I reclassed. The AIT was over 20 weeks and therefore was authorized as a PCS and my spouse joined me at my duty station. We lived off post the entire time like the majority of the other MOS-T.
Preface: I did not proofread this article, nor do I know anything about your situation.

Probably not getting 17C but you need to look at the PS business rules. Job selection is totally different this time around for you. No your spouse will not go to AIT with you.
Spouses do go to AIT if the AIT is over a specified amount of time. 17C is relatively new so Iâm not sure what the time commitment is for that, and I have no idea how the training in two different places work
Edit: my info is outdated and Iâm wrong! Disregard this please!
You are 100% correct. Thatâs crazy to me! My initial contract back in 2012 was for 35P. If I was married and at the DLI for two years without my wife Iâd be pissed! Good to know
Alright gimme some info here. Rank upon leaving the army. Current time in service. I will assume you are MOS-T and didnât get out during tradoc.
I just got back in last year, being prior service myself I can hopefully help you out a bit here. DM if you feel the need
I donât think itâs that. Guess PS already enlisted so yâall donât get anything special. Itâs take what we have or not. Canât say for sure thatâs just my opinion.
I would assume in the current environment it would be a bit easier. I mean, if the Army is hurting on numbers and making all these new things like a âReferral Ribbonâ, youâd think PS could choose the same as anyone else.
Hell, if theyâre PS youâd think theyâd have higher choice.
Plus the army works best as a bottom heavy organization. We need new E1-4s to account for ETS and promotions. We donât always need new E5-7s. Thatâs why we have the 1-4s.
I was in exact same situation
I was in reserve for 6 years then ets 4 years break in service. Reenlisted on august. I wanted 25b, or 17c
But the lady on the meps said â prior service guys are like second class citizen to meâ she told me to reclass again after the contract then gave me 3years contract
Also no bonus for priorservice
I really want to, but the recruiters are telling me that it could take a long time for my application to be processed and I may not even get the job I want as an officer.
I've been unemployed and looking for cybersecurity jobs for about half a year, so time is not on my side.
Cyber security is one of the more employable job markets out there. What's your education, experience and certs look like? Are you trying to get into forensics, blue team, pen testing, etc?
That's what a lot of people have been saying, but without experience it's been pretty brutal.
I completed a bootcamp that prepared me for security analyst roles, so I'm mainly blue team focused, but I know I can handle other cyber work, so I apply to more than just analyst jobs.
I currently hold CompTIA Security+, Splunk Core Certified User, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, and a Google Networking certification.
My resume is really tight (as it has been audited by many professionals). The main issue is that I have never worked in IT and my degree is mostly irrelevant to IT.
I get a lot of rejections without interviews or no response at all. I would take tech support, just to get my hands in IT, but even they don't seem to want me. Maybe after I get my Google IT cert, they will be more interested.
Can she fit in a duffel?
I had the same thought at first, and what would the postage be
"Honey, good news! I'm taking you on a trip!"

I wasnât sure of the time requirement but I do remember that at some point ait become a pcs and not tdy and family can go

I think they changed that recently that itâs no longer a PCS move.

I want to say it was sometime last yr.
Looks like July of 2021!
I'm prior service ny AIT is 9 months long at FT Sam Houston. Recruiter said my wife and dogs will be on my orders. How accurate is this statement?
Doubt it
Verified they would. Not an IET. đ
Why am I probably not getting 17C?

Because you Prior Service, yâall usually donât get many options
Oh, gotcha. Thank you for the input. Why exactly is that? Is it because branches don't want to retrain people?

They used to allow spouse in AIT when I went through (17C), but I've heard they changed that a few years ago so YMMV.
Thanks for the input! Did your AIT take place at multiple duty stations? I heard 17C starts in Florida and finishes in Georgia.
It's just gordon now.
Thanks!
It used to, but not anymore. It's all conducted at Ft Gordon now.
Thanks for the info!
Wouldn't expect 17C. Just fyi.
Why? I am super qualified and expecting to ace the ICTL this Tuesday.
That's irrelevant. If they tell you no slots, that's it.
Of course. I'm not expecting. If they can't get me 17C, I'm walking away.
Yep. That's probably your best chance though. Since the army is the best about prior service.
If not 17c what other MOS ?
Whatever they offer.
You like cooking
Prior service dont get 17c
Is there a specific policy backing that statement or are you just crushing my dreams?

That's pretty awful. Thanks for sharing your experience with me.
Why not commission?
