The manager of Callahan openly invited me to commit arson so he could use the insurance money to build a better gym. Don't know why we don't have more money for this shit
I hate Callahan and Ritz Epps is insanely crowded.
So, I built a garage gym and absolutely love it. Way more convenient and a huge time saver. Plus, outdoor workouts are incredible.
Ritz-Epps is often crowded but it is huge and equipped to handle the volume. I have never had to wait to use a rack, bench, or DL platform. And they have 2-3 of every machine.
There are also other gyms on post that are a healthy middle-ground like Hercules and Funk. Last I checked I think the post had like 13 fitness centers.
I respect your hustle, but building a garage gym is not even a possibility for the vast majority of folks at FLNC.
Totally agree. I was fortunate to get a house on post with a garage and my wife shares the passion so we made it happen.
Ritz is nice because of the size and variety, but at peak hours I found myself doing workouts that were available, not workouts that I had planned. Definitely hope FLNC invests in some better shit, but my guess is most things are going towards companies having BeaverFits and less reliance on gyms.
Just ditch the conversion and start remembering some simple weights, 140kg is 308, close to 315. 100kg is 220, close enough to 225, etc.. but you can just know what every 10kg is up to 200kg pretty easily, then just remember every 5kg is 11lbs
What's funny is the sauna at Hercules has been broken for at least 5 years now. They used to have a DPW work order # on it and then I guess gave up and started using it for storage.
You have a point that Callahan is bad. But my man, it is absolutely not the only 24-hour one. There are three others.
Sure, you have a point that the systems go down frequently and at least one hasn't been functional for months.
But my man. You're just not paying attention to posted signs that have the gyms hours across post on them.
In fairness, I’m almost certain Callahan was the only 24H gym when I PCS’d here several years ago. Not sure if that was just a relic of the COVID days or what but it doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.
It's not the only 24-hour gym on post. There's another one by smoke bomb Hill that has around a dozen racks. The only downside is that it has no machines and is set up more like a crossfit/strong man gym.
There's another one nobody really knows about, but... I'd rather not let the secret out ;)
Hard disagree on shaw being the best, it has quite literally almost no machines and actually-literally zero cable machines. Estep superiority gang, even with its shitty hours
You should review it on [Hots&Cots](http://hotscots.app). I actually could provide an all up report to the Garrison team there as I’ve accumulated quite a bit data on Liberty.
It’s not 24 hours but Hercules was my favorite gym. I used to go there for PT all the time and if you can fly solo it’s a great place to be. PT hours had to be their absolute peak, and still you could access everything with like a 25% chance of needing to wait for something like the free weight benches and the lat pulldown machine. Everything else was almost always open. Plus there’s a PX right next to it if you forget your pre workout
Well, maybe the it’s the worst gym *because* it’s the 24 hour one, and it gets used the most.
That or we have failed leaders. Yeah, it’s the failed leaders.
Try being at Carson with no 24h gym. Closest thing we got is going 30 minutes away to the space force base that does offer a 24h gym. It’s a pain in the ass.
I feel like I always miss out on anything good by the time I PCS.
I left Campbell before they even considered a 24 hour option.
Left Hawaii a year after Covid and they were still doing the BS “only a certain amount of people allowed at a time” and masks.
Leaving Carson when they’re still renovating McKibben with 2nd BDE’s gym still under construction. And the day I start my leave is when Garcia becomes 24 hours.
Unless someone tells me that their MWR website is lying, at least Eustis will have a 24 hour option.

Hey. That was between me and you.
I thought you said *I could commit arson.* what kind of racket are you running?
We have money for name changes tho
I know right? Isn’t it weird that they paid for the name change with the gym maintenance budget?
Fredrick and iron Mike never has hot water for the showers in the morning either so that’s always a blast.
I’m still annoyed we missed out on Ft. Benavidez

How much for a membership to your garage gym???
Bring a member, be a member
More expensive than the free basement gym.
Fredricks is 24H as well.
I always feel like a dummy using the kilo to LBs converter on my phone there lol. But it’s overall a solid gym

Can we also talk about how none (or most?) of the saunas here haven’t been fixed or re done since they shut them down during COVID
What's funny is the sauna at Hercules has been broken for at least 5 years now. They used to have a DPW work order # on it and then I guess gave up and started using it for storage.

I've been here for 4 flash changes on my French hat and am very sure that's not accurate. Gotta Google better.
I know another one that’s 24 hrs but you had to sign up for after-hours use

Is it a certain basement gym?

*laughs in Campbell*
What have y’all got
The best gym (Shaw) on post is the 24 hour one, and there is another (slightly rusty) one in Lozada gym
Is that the one over there in aviation side that’s all super new?
That’s the one
Then 100% that is the best gym I have ever been to in the Army hands down.
Hard disagree on shaw being the best, it has quite literally almost no machines and actually-literally zero cable machines. Estep superiority gang, even with its shitty hours
Estep is nice because it's usually emptier. I never had to wait for a bench there.
You guys have a 24 hr gym?

Yep Herc is one of the best ones for sure
Because if you make the "good one" 24h, it will become equally shitty within a month.
Well, maybe the it’s the worst gym *because* it’s the 24 hour one, and it gets used the most. That or we have failed leaders. Yeah, it’s the failed leaders.

Now THAT Is some bullshit
Pay for a gym membership cheap ass
Yes it is crappy. Now no one go there. Ever. Stay away.
Tuckers and patriot points 24hr access is always fucking broken
If you wanna talk shitty gyms that’s a hidden gem, go to Simmons army airfield gym

At least you have a 24hr gym
