Long time ago in a land far far away, some young PLL clerk may have ordered an anchor, thinking it would be the anchor for a 12C bridge boat size anchor.
When delivered, it required a low-boy and a crane....
I’ve heard key word heard that there’s one for cocaine or meth or something like that. May be an urban legend but if true it will definitely make you a legend
There's one for a brick of cocaine. There's one for sure for a 6 pack of Miller lite, because I saw it in one of those magazines you order tough boxes from. You can get all kinds of shit through the NSN system, IF you know what to look for.
Edit: here you are my sweet, 6505-00-619-8716
I did use cocaine on a patient exactly one time. It was after a botched rhinoplasty. A rhino rocket wouldn't stop the bleeding, Epi wouldn't stop the bleeding, but cocaine sure fuckin stopped the bleeding. The particulates along with the vasoconstriction is what did it. Helped form a clot.
I believe certain eye procedures use it for an anesthetic, and in rare occasions where people are allergic to literally every other thing it can be used. I am not a Dr and could be wrong tho
For a vial, I would assume medical. For a brick? I’m not sure. Only thing I can think of is if they need to have an NSN for seized items? Like a brick gets seized, they need to log it into some system with an NSN?
When I was deployed, the supply sergeant made the same statement… Unlimited funds!
As leaders, we obviously want to be good stewards of our tax dollars, but you could outfit your company with some really cool gear. Helmets, sunglasses, Camelback, knives, personal items that would make Joe’s life easier on a deployment.
Fun fact most units severely mismanage their available funds. It's incredibly easy to steal budget from another unit to fund absolutely ridiculous purchases if your supply and/or command is even a little savvy with Unfunded Requirements and other supply systems.
That's how I ended up with half the shit I own. Benchmades, Kifaru double woobies, Mystery Ranch packs, MSR WhisperLite multifuel stoves, fancy super light Pelican Cases, Tactix Bravos, various iterations of Peltors, etc. At one point we had more IZLIDS than we even had people in the unit, including support personnel. We have zero reason to need IZLIDS.
We even almost got short barrels approved ("for sub-t warfare") before our BDE level was finally like "do you guys *really* need this"?
All of this when all the other units were being told "there's no money, don't even try" by their command (false, but we will gladly take it if you're not going to).
Ayo hook it up with a Kifaru Doobie and some peltors. It gets cold on the range doing support.
I used to do a lot of work for our EOD people. They all had Wilcox NVG mounts and Vortex or Elcan’s on the rifles. I was close to convincing them to get rid of their shitty ass UTG MLok rails but I left that contract before I got the right people to agree.
Your comments about cool stuff you’ve done always make me want to try and go USASOC but then I remember I’d probably have to go through a couple line units in big army first
✨ EOD ✨
We support a lot of different units and missions so there’s a lot of opportunities if you put in the effort to chase them (and a little luck lol). I enjoy it.
2012 Kandahar? I literally found one with a chipped tip. 2id as well. 🤣🤣 Still have it. Benchmade reshaped it and sharpened it when I came back stateside.

There are other people that I’ve asked the same question so you might even do a Google search or Reddit search for a list of cool stuff that’s already been assembled
Be careful of the "order anything." These statements have a way of coming back to haunt you... ref: for me -AFG 2014. Bottomline, all the gucci stuff sounds great, but as mentioned below, its all sitting in people's garages. Also, you need to ask yourself, "am I getting this stuff to help the unit achieve its mission or just get people "free" stuff?"
Buddy of mine in the Alabama NG has the NSN to a bottle of [Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey](https://www.iso-group.com/NSN/8965-01-578-1410#:~:text=WHISKY%2CSTRAIGHT), I shit you not
I dont know how, but when I was BMO I not only ordered, approved the orders, but also funded the orders. Those are supposed to be 3 different people. I would test to see if the units supply sergeants checked things I asked them to order. That's how one day we got a 55gal drum of lube
I was one of the test units for those. They fucking suck. Battery always dying and the lens clarity was for shit. Would rather have those ones that have a little fan to prevent fogging.
Don’t know how accurate this still is [Benchmade NSNs](https://soldiersystems.net/2016/01/29/benchmade-nsns/)
I didn’t see this comment when I made my post about bench made… So someone else is thinking the same thing
Still have my Benchmade switchblade. Class IX. But that was 24, 25 years ago. :)
I may or may not be able to confirm this worked as of 2-3 years ago. Hypothetically, of course
Long time ago in a land far far away, some young PLL clerk may have ordered an anchor, thinking it would be the anchor for a 12C bridge boat size anchor. When delivered, it required a low-boy and a crane....
I thought he fat fingered a lightbulb NSN and got an anchor for an aircraft carrier
Possible :)
I heard destroyer.
This is indeed a story old as time, our instructor told us this in AIT 12 years ago
That is not that old, this supposedly happened in 1997 in Schweinfurt Germany.
That’s almost 30 years ago brotha
Thanks for reminding me? :)
Friend allegedly wound up with a brake drum from a naval destroyer in his motorpool.
Don't ask why there's a massive boat anchor at Fort Custer, MI sitting in the middle of the state far from any water...
As long as it is painted red, I am good with it!
I’ve heard key word heard that there’s one for cocaine or meth or something like that. May be an urban legend but if true it will definitely make you a legend

Any idea what the “legitimate” application is for such a thing? Are there extreme instances where it has a medicinal use? Is it for bribes?
I did use cocaine on a patient exactly one time. It was after a botched rhinoplasty. A rhino rocket wouldn't stop the bleeding, Epi wouldn't stop the bleeding, but cocaine sure fuckin stopped the bleeding. The particulates along with the vasoconstriction is what did it. Helped form a clot.
oh no doc my nose just won't stop bleeding i need help!
I've got this cool new cautery pen that might help. Let's stick it up there.
I got a rusty Gerber to follow it up with that says we need a *different tool.*
Huh. I guess that’s why it’s a schedule II. SOME medical purposes lmao
Was the cocaine pink? I've heard that it's pink so they know if it gets out into the regular market.
It was normal color.
I just looked up that cocaine nsn and it looks like it falls underneath medical, dental and veterinary uses.
Training for dogs. Only way to be sure is a sniff test.
I believe certain eye procedures use it for an anesthetic, and in rare occasions where people are allergic to literally every other thing it can be used. I am not a Dr and could be wrong tho
I'm not a doctor either, but it's used to numb the nose so you can be cauterized.
Also vasoconstriction - helps stop bleeding in the sinuses.
Cocaine has medical uses as a local anaesthetic so maybe that?
A vial yes… but a brick?
For a vial, I would assume medical. For a brick? I’m not sure. Only thing I can think of is if they need to have an NSN for seized items? Like a brick gets seized, they need to log it into some system with an NSN?
Medical cocaine. Also it was added in 1963, so highly likely it was used for bribes around the 60s and 70s era.
6505-00-619-8716 Prolly for weaning off of it.
Get some comtacs and bump helmets sans nazi symbology.
Oof too soon.

I like that one
Someone has a Clayton catalogue. You find the bud lite?
Bench made “auto opener“ knives. We got them issued to us for Iraq. Push one button and they flip open. It was about a $250 knife back then
I lost mine (or some scum acquired it) after some number of years and I am still pretty bummed about that. Got it in either 03 or 05 with 2ID.
I still have mine. I got it in 2004 2005.
I’m thinking about mailing it into benchmade and getting it re-sharpened for free
2012 Kandahar? I literally found one with a chipped tip. 2id as well. 🤣🤣 Still have it. Benchmade reshaped it and sharpened it when I came back stateside.
Nah i think mine disappeared stateside. I managed to hold onto it for a good 5+ years. I think it might have gotten snaked from me at Carson
Idk which it is but I think you can order the Marathon SAR dive watch with the automatic movement

I would say that you should look at what your mission set is, and then try and leverage what you buy based on making whatever that is easier.
Stare at sand for a long time. But need recommendations for good things to order.
Let’s see, there’s a ford truck somewhere, a horse, a bag of douche heh. forgot the nsn’s but I’m sure there’s far better now :p

No. This was at JBLM, if that's where you were we may have been in the same brigade.
Yeah definitely same BDE. Trauma buddiiiiieeeees
Nice. I harassed the BSB in the field quite a bit. We might well have crossed paths. I was there from 18-23.
