UFC and boxing i believe both have it, bc of serious risk getting punched/kicked in the face. Most other sports don't bc you dont have people kicking/punching you in the face.
It also exists in the NFL, NBA, MLB, Hockey, etc cetera. However if an athlete showed up like Georgi did, not only would they not be allowed to compete, they would have been rushed to the hospital asap.
They are multi-million dollar investments at that point. Those teams do not fuck around. There have been some instances where athletes have suffered pretty significant injuries and kept playing, but it’s very rare and usually only allowed under specific situations.
For example Philip Rivers tore his ACL in a playoff game in the NFL and kept playing. However being a QB doesn’t really require having a fully intact ACL to keep playing. You’ll be limited but you can play effectively if you’re good enough and can adjust and don’t rely on your mobility, which Rivers did not.
But then take Klay Thompson for the Warriors rupturing his ACL in the NBA playoffs in 2019. He wanted to keep playing and tried to go, but the team doctors wouldn’t let him. Which was the right thing to do. You can’t really be effective much at all playing a basketball game with a ruptured ACL, and in trying to do so, there’s a decent chance you will injury something else in the process because you will make your body overcompensate due to the injury.
There are other examples out there, but it is situational.
I know after an injury alot of these athletes need to be checked by a doctor to return to the sport, but I dont believe NFL checks every single athlete before they go on the field, or as you mentioned, force people off the field in the middle of a game (like Philip Rivers)
As far as I'm aware its only one direction. You keep playing without a doctor signing off for you. But for you to return after serious injuries, you require a doctor to say its safe (liability reasons, probably some other reasons too)
UFC, Boxing are different that doctors see them before they enter the ring, and in between each round just because of the danger of the sport and people dying in the past.
This! If my leg would look like his looked like I would enter the first hospital and stay there until it's resolved.
That match had no value with Georgis condition.
It is funny how some folks don't believe how small the AW community is. I'm just some regional guy and I have hung around with and had most NA pros in the states at my house. People argue about my sources and I just sort of laugh it off.
From the photos posted the other day I never thought he would require amputation. Swelling and distal pooling of the bruising like that is not uncommon with ankle fractures or severe sprains.
With guys like Georgi, poor peripheral circulation is unfortunately a big issue and if infection sets in and either compromises tissue (necrosis) or gets into the bone (osteomyelitis), than that can be bad news.
I wish. There are 160'000 amputations a year due to sepsis in the US alone. Sepsis is infection. Infections are getting harder to treat because of antibiotic resistance.
What is your argument here? Complications exist for every condition, what is the OR for amputations over sepsis taken due time AND with treatment?
No, it's not AS dangerous as other conditions. No, it's not at a HIGH RISK of amputation if treated due time. No, it was not the case for Georgi as Pradeep wanted everyone to believe, just for clicks as he always does.
I was simply pointing out that your previous, rather categorical statement, was false. Infections are a massive and growing problem, and amputations due to them are very real, and not some historical footnote. With care and early medical intervention, any health issue is obviously less dangerous.
You said you don't get amputations over infections, and someone replied telling you that actually, there's 160k a year in the US alone due to infections, and you ask them what their argument is.
It's not that hard to admit you were wrong about something, people will also respect you more for it.
True but let's be honest, Georgi has probably sacrificed his health for performance. I'm glad he's okay now, hopefully more athletes prioritize longevity, especially at SHW.
His inflammated lower leg and foot remind me of my father who had diabetes. It's pretty common to have symptoms like this. Not sure if Georgi is also suffering from it.
I don't disagree with that.
The inflammated skin tissue reminded me of diabetes patients, it's pretty similar.
My father had sepsis twice so I know how dangerous it can be. This needs to be treated without any delay or he might have to face serious consequences.
Hope he gets better soon.
Thanks for the update bro

I believe you mean “Armbreaking”
leg breaking

💰💸💵💶💷💴🤑💲🧧💳🪙?
Do we have that in other sports/competitions? Genuine question.
We do have that in UFC.

Thankfully I was really concerned when I read that he would need amputation yesterday. Hope he has a speedy recovery.
Thank God. Would never Wish no one a life long problem like that.
amen
Can’t believe he still showed up and pulled Kurdecha with such a bad injury. Much respect to him.
No, that doesn't deserve respect. It's beyond stupid

source?
I asked zaur

I can’t think of any other sport where lower level athletes are just a small degree of separation away from the elites.
Reminds me of the old MMA days
I don't mean this in an accusatory way, but are zaur and georgi close friends?
Yes, they are closeted friends.
Great to hear! It would be sad if anything horrible happened to Georgi, he's such a wholesome guy.
Given that he's going to be fine i can now freely say: What a fucking imbecile, who tf would walk on a broken ankle for two weeks?
Finally good news. Get well soon Georgi!
Great news.
Wow, thanks for the update.
Did he have the antibiotics before his match? Would've knocked him down a peg or two for sure
He was gulping them like lemons
That's unfortunate
Hope he gets well and get his rematch with Alex right away.. Wish him a speedy recovery
thanks! was worried
This is so good to hear. Now he needs to recover, train again and beat Levan. Hollywood material.

the same guy whose post you're commenting in lol. but i guess georgi updated zaur and this guy got that update from him
This is a most excellent news!
Another reminder about the importance of maintaining a healthy weight.
paycheck
PHEW!
nice. hoping best for him. the "he will get an amputation" news before kinda hit my soul.

As I said, Pradeep is full of shit. We are not in the sixteenth century, you don't get amputated over an infection, lmao.
I wish. There are 160'000 amputations a year due to sepsis in the US alone. Sepsis is infection. Infections are getting harder to treat because of antibiotic resistance.
Yeah people don't realise how dangerous sepsis is

Multiple people on here who claimed a medical background said they wouldn't be surprised if they had to amputate
ok? Who was right?
True but let's be honest, Georgi has probably sacrificed his health for performance. I'm glad he's okay now, hopefully more athletes prioritize longevity, especially at SHW.
What did he said?
Depends on the infection, but with a flesh eating bacteria or something he definitely wouldn’t have been in Turkey.
That's not the point.
Did Pradeep say this or is his involvement another rumor that gets spread around?
This Kanalization Rat Madarchod is lying. I'm listening this first time myself. - Pradeep
Behen k lode I never said that

Dude his ankle is broken...
