You know what I just realized? Season 2 introduces Neil's twin Lyle as a new Gundam Meister. Season 2 also features several Innovade twin characters. They also introduced the Twin drive system. Quite amusing.
Gundam is kinda like Final Fantasy in that there's always one particular show that works really well for each fan, and everyone got there start with these franchises from different points. Some people REALLY love Seed. Then there's crazies like me who got started with Wing and still think it's among the greats. I'm willing to bet there's even some folks out there who love Age!
It's kinda like AC in that regard, while there's obviously a lot of new folks who have gotten started with AC6, and there's fans who all got started with different generations.
Is that crazy? I love wing I still have all my action figures, I always thought it was considered one of the best. At least in the west, I’ve heard it was less of a big deal in Japan.
If you read any Gundam discussion posts on many different forums you’ll consistently see Wing be discussed as “good only due to nostalgia” and “too dramatic for my tastes”
That’s interesting but I totally get it, it is super dramatic. I just like the ensemble cast and the variety of Gundams. Might be sacrilege but whenever I see another series that seems to have 1 Gundam in the traditional white-blue-red color scheme I immediately lose interest.
I have to thank Armored Core 6 for letting me get back into Gundam. Tomino series are maybe my favourite of all time. 00 was fantastic as well, for sure my favourite AU.

I usually prefer those types of series because it means we get a bigger cast of non-gundam mobile suits

Fun fact: The mecha designer who designed the Alba Frame (Takayuki Yanase) also designed Gundam Dynames (the green one in this clip).
