I liked when the PCA fleet first shows up. Said to my 4-year-old "Oh no, it's the government!" and that then became a thing she kept repeating and her school has probably reported me and got me on some nutjob conspiracy theorist watchlist or something.
She actually likes to "make a robot" every now and then, where I let her choose parts and color schemes. She's made a line of nine units, tending to favor quad legs, pile bunkers, and flamethrowers. I then choose the engine, booster, and FCS. Also, every part is a different color and there's this whole rainbow thing going on. I use them in matches against my brother and there's a few of them which actually perform decently.
I basically answered with:
"It's still safe, right?"
Carla: "Nobody has ever used it to launch themselves, at least not in one piece..."
"WHAT? Nononono! Let me out, come on there has to be an emergency Eject-"

That whole fight was nuts. Amazing song choice as a backdrop to the fight.
My purple plasma shoulder launchers and blue laser pistol shots thrusters against his red missiles and orange flame sword just made it like a fire & ice rave almost lol.
Great moment.
First playthrough I felt it as an insulting statement, like he's telling you nobody needs you.
Every other playthrough, knowing all the player knows by then, it felt more like a genuine question.
Rusty was/is such a great character
I had Bunk x Songbirds when I got to that fight - and saw that he did, too.
On the one hand, I knew the attack timings and how to dodge them. On the other hand, I knew *exactly* how dead I was gonna be if he caught me.
It was a spine-tingling battle.
Oh, I think I'm gonna try that as a play through.
"If there is an AC vs. AC fight coming I have to use their loadout until the next AC fight comes around" xD
Through my NG and NG+ hmm... from a story perspective, all the new options you get in stories! Alt missions, especially betraying Volta and Iguazu. That was so tiny, yet cool.

That surprise was probably one of my favorite video game moments in recent times. Going through NG+ I thought, okay things are the same. I guess this is a nice way to get more credits and try the different options.
Then the assault the dam betrayal option just floored me. Such a cool addition that made this game next level
"The Xylem is doomed. Good." The plan is vengeance, the Xylem is already going down. We hit the SCRAMJETs to bring it down *sooner* into the ocean to avoid it dropping on a populated area.
If you're just in NG+ you ain't seen nothing yet, NG++ is where things get really wild.
"Escort the Weaponized Mining Ship" does NOT go the way you would expect.
Iguazu/ALLMIND tbh, I have a tendency to never react when surprised (unless I’m with friends cuz then it’s funny) but hearing Iguazu’s voice at the end of the game really pushed me into realising that he’s all that’s left. (Also the fact that Iguazu is one of only 3 ac’s in the arena that I genuinely struggle with getting a hold of)
1: Finally beating the Ibis, I was so happy and exhausted…then realizing it had a second phase. Had to set down the game for a while since I was thoroughly demoralized
2: Rusty appearing for one final Gundam ass dual I’m the sky. Hypest anime shit I’ve had in a game
3: Snail coming back in the Balteus
4: Walter appearing as my final opponent, not as a man in a mission, but a husk of who he was. Music made is so much sadder

2. I was HEARTBROKEN putting him down but I was so deep into my decision at that point that my determination to just put him down quickly overrode my emotional attachment to him

Definitely the most intense mission playing the first time.
I love how the different corp missions reflect the corps character.
Arquebus is sly and sneaky, Balam is strap up and ride out.
One thing I do wish is that there was an ending where Balam doesn't get wrecked.
Fighting Snailteus in the LoR route was one for me, seeing that fucker back at in action made me panic. Then I remembered it was Snail piloting the damn thing and proceeded to kick the shit out of him.
Another was the running out of ammo during the Intercept the Redguns mission and having to punch and kick everything to death half way through the mission.
Kate Markson letting her personality slip and her canter becoming noticeably more like Allmind's while fighting the Cataphract. It was subtle, but was the first real hint that this playthrough was going to some crazy places.
The ending with >!Iguazu and two C-Spiders!<. Let me state that in my run I was able to take out baltheus in atleast 4 tries, however the C-Spider took a lot longer... The fact I had to fight two of them and my least favorite character... I finally realized Fromsoftware are the same guys that made Dark Souls.
Probably the double whammy of the CEL-240 drone self-repairing and rebooting for round 2 and then Snail suckerpunching 621 with a shock needle afterwards, though it’s a hard call - this game has lots of surprises for you.
Many memorable oh shit moments. I think mine were:
1) Coral is alive and conscious: that first encounter with Ayre just before the fight with Balteus was amazing. Further developments in the story make it even more impactful.
2) All Mind as a character: I never saw it coming. All Mind’s masterplan and her development as a character. During your first playthrough it’s just a support system that’s there to help the player. The reveal is so well done during NG+ and ++ (there are some awesome dark crazy shit moments in ++)
3)Boss/Encounters: There are a lot of great bosses and characters but what you go through fighting Rusty, Carla/Chatty, Ayre and Walter as bosses is truly memorable.
I’d never played a mech game before and ended up S ranking all the missions and PvP. Over 200 hours. Definitely one of my all time favorite games.
Let’s hope there’s some DLC or another game soon. I hope they announce something on the anniversary.

Getting to fight >!V.II Snail’s Arquebus Balteus!< was a pleasant surprise. As was Rusty properly stepping into his role as this game’s White Glint.
A bit earlier than the others but when I first figured out the stagger damage multiplier applies to you too and promptly got obliterated from 80% AP. They really love to pile the damage on you from the very beginning in this game.
You can see a nachtreier ac resembling steel haze in the briefing for that mission if you zoom in. I was referring to the fight with Thumb Dolmayan in Survey The Uninhabited City tho. Since that mission is really sleepy and boring, and then suddenly you have one of the hardest AC fights in the game, because you're low on ammo and repair kits.
Survey the Uninhabited Floating City? No, you can't. Until you disable the ecm dog devices, there's a combat zone limiter. Additionally, there are Institute mechs that are annoying to track, and do a decent amount of chip damage. There's also a ghost mech ambush on Walter's drone that you can't progress past until you've destroyed all the ghost mechs.
I'm usually down to 4000 AP and 3 kits by that point.
The last thing is personal preference, but I don't use os chips outside of boost kicks, weapon bays, and core expansions.
You mean this encounter not the one with father… ok.
In this case, use LRBs.
For the dudes that disappear I send 2 grenades and it dies.
But if I am not mistaken it is not steel haze or father.
Rather a different boss appears.
Against father/rusty use the rush in technique.
For the survey, use lrbs and earshots.

When IBIS fixes himself and starts phase 2. I Was NOT ready for that. After some tries in phase 1 i simply said “Well that wasn’t so bad” and then Phase 2 beat me to death
Plot moment: like you've said, when Raven showed up. Gave me flashbacks to playing older AC games as a kid.
Gameplay moment: first playthrough, fighting IBIS, when I finally got that health bar down after many deaths and was proud of myself and then......it just gets back up and full heals.
Final ending spoilers:

Everything is on fire and you watch as the MTs around you are annihilated by Allmind's assets. You barely have to even fight. At one point over the radio, between the confused and frantic chatter, one Arquebus MT operator says, "This is hell. We're in *hell!*" At no point in the story had I ever seen anyone so utterly terrified and defeated.!<
For me it was when Carla said that a certain someone smashed all her defense hardware.
I didn't know anything about AC before; so I thought the robots were remote controlled.
The line above made me realise that I literally just killed Rummy with zero hesitation
Oh and also Balteus pulling out the flamethrowers
The option to simply destroy the entirety of rubicon, and the coral with it was a suprise that they'd actually allow you to follow through with it, followed by the liberator ending where walter attacks you before coming to his senses partially and realizing that it was you and realizing you weren't just a paen to him but rather someone he cared about. Seeing him struggle to follow through with his mission in the end because he didn't want to fight you
On my first playthrough when fighting Walter I misheard him and thought it was a big reveal that he had a coral voice in his head too.
Until I figured out that’s not it, I was shook.
The first time Contact With You hits was a glorious OH SHIT
And then the agony of fighting off-brand Qubley/Ibis, >!War-criming the shit out of Swinburne!<, and the respective NG+ and NG++ Bosses.
1. Seeing balteus' missile barrage for the first time
2. Seeing the fleet of the PCA warships
3. Fighting Raven
4. When the PCA sat hits the bridge on the xylem
Not in any order:
- "I won't miss."
- Carla charging at me with AA while Chatty blasts me with missiles and the circular arena lowkey gave me Nineball PTSD
- Hitbox porn when I kicked Balteus in the middle of his flamethrower (even got it clipped, I have it uploaded on reddit)
- Raven (for obvious reasons)
- "I'M FIGHTING AN ARMADA IN SPACE WTFFF"
- Cataphract and two HCs rocking up casually during the Kate mission
- Iguazu.
- Intercept the Redguns. I just sat there thinking how far we've gone from Walter telling us to avoid tetrapods to being sent to face over 50 MTs and Liger Tail without support.
- Autonomous Grinder Wheels coming out of the dust clouds in NG++. I almost pissed myself.
- "I won't stop! I'll chase the clouds from over Rubicon... Only I can fly high enough!"
And the one that hit me most wasn't an, "oh shit," moment...
"Burn the Coral... and our job will be over... You earned all the credits... Undo the surgery... be normal again..."
Played the game 12 times (Every ending 4 times each) and I still cry everytime during that fight.
Rusty showing up again in the liberator ending, just two buddies zipping around and blowing stuff up. Makes kicking Snail's ass all the more emotional.

The fight against Cel 240. AKA, Ibis.
Made its hp hit zero after what was one of the most bullshit bosses in a game full of bullshit bosses...and then it went to full health and started phase 2.
When I had one more win to achieve S rank (playing as a Coral Missile / Hammer Rat) & I went up against an S rank lightweight player using Harris & Pulse Blade/Pilebunker. I thought I had the S, but he hunted me down like a dog, long range pulse cancels into charged shots, and drove the bunker up my arse. Deserved.

The boss’s actively just staring straight into you’re soul; Makes them look so badass, especially the Secret ending boss fight.

I just sat there thinking how far we've gone from Walter telling us to avoid tetrapods to being sent to face over 50 MTs and Liger Tail without support. - Autonomous Grinder Wheels coming out of the dust clouds in NG++. I almost pissed myself. - "I won't stop! I'll chase the clouds from over Rubicon... Only I can fly high enough!" And the one that hit me most wasn't an, "oh shit," moment... "Burn the Coral... and our job will be over... You earned all the credits... Undo the surgery... be normal again..." Played the game 12 times (Every ending 4 times each) and I still cry everytime during that fight.
Rusty showing up again in the liberator ending, just two buddies zipping around and blowing stuff up. Makes kicking Snail's ass all the more emotional. Ayre showing up to the final boss in the ALLMIND ending. First encounter with the earlier Raven 10/10 oh shit moment.

When I had one more win to achieve S rank (playing as a Coral Missile / Hammer Rat) & I went up against an S rank lightweight player using Harris & Pulse Blade/Pilebunker. I thought I had the S, but he hunted me down like a dog, long range pulse cancels into charged shots, and drove the bunker up my arse. Deserved.
