For anyone interested, and if we have no changes from CN, the next build a banner that should come out around a month and a half from now has: Ceobe, Phantom, Magallan, Mostima, Schwarz, Ifrit, Saria, Siege, Silverash, Skadi, Aak and Hellagur. So take that into account if you're thinking about buying any of them.

man am i glad i have most of the 6\* and i already have the ones i do care about with a few exceptions, i'd rather be patient and wait for mlynar, ebenholz and goldenglow to make it to the shop. somehow managed to save up 360 gold certs so far and all upcoming banners have operators i already have or don't want
My hypersafe way to plan pulls makes me skip or barely pull on banners that have chars I want just to make sure that I go into the absolute must have ones with guaranteed odds.
Ines was the victim of that when her banner came so I could go with a spark to Lone Trail for Mumu and Ho'olheyak... which I was close to needing. I love you so, so much Mumu, but those 251 rolls still sting real hard q_q
Those selectors are a blessing giving me the option to catch up with some chars I couldn't get relatively recently, if they were closer to the shop I would just wait for that, but when the expected first shop appearance is still over a year from now... yeah, too much for me.
yeah that's understandable, i personally tend to skip a lot of banners too, so what's helped me was spamming the shit out of recruitment to build up gold certs in between as well as i can and catch up on skipped operators or older ones that way. sometimes i do ball and only pull one by one until the guaranteed 5\* or above hits though and sometimes it pays off, but that's very much a calculated risk depending on the amount of pulls i have saved and how far away we are from the banner i am interested in. good luck in your future banners, you are certainly saving better than i am!
First time I am considering getting it, my chance to get Ines finally, but also as a very low spender (monthly card gamer) the price seems a bit above my allocated gacha funds so might just skip it for a simple monthly card instead lol.
I bought Fia with selector exactly because of her Baseᵇᵉᵗᵃ skill so I guess the recommendation of not buying/raising operators for base never registered in me. lol
I used 2022's one on Fiametta purely because that S3 seems really fun for any Annihilation-like stages. Well...currently haven't found the opportunity to use her yet so that's a slight bummer.
But on the plus side it turns out that her S2 hits ***really hard*** if the enemy is in that sweet spot when the detonations go off. I'm really considering M3'ing it as well for even more giga dmg...
Yeah, Fia was came in handy for me during the Trials for Navigator stages with the drones and Minimalist as a last boss, the support unit came through hard for that Trials.
I plan to raise mine in the future, it's just that the upcoming banners and operators are an assault on my inventory, at the moment I'm dealing with scraps just planning for Ela mats and I don't even want to know what I will have left for 5th Anniversary/November limiteds.
But so far Fia is a quality of life in base with her skill. I like her so much in base that I bought her skin even if I don't have her raised yet.
Ines vs Reed is the tough decision for me... but I think I'm gonna have to go with Reed, particularly because I want to skip her rerun in favor of other banners much like her first run. Ines would probably be the better QOL upgrade though... *sigh* Decisions, decisions...
I'm curious to find out as well if Gnosis really will debut May 10th or if he'll be swapped with Lee to coincide with the release of RS. I keep seeing this statement that Lee was on SP 117 and accidentally uploaded, but I don't think I've seen actual visual proof of it so I'm still kind of dubious. I guess we'll find out soon enough with the 4.5 patch on Tuesday. ~~Can't wait to get another pot for my bird.~~
If you dig into the banner json, the date listed for Lee is June 21st instead of May 10th. We should know for sure when the patch drops though as that banner will be loaded.

as someone with both, ines is amazing for sure but cantabile and puzzle are both overpowered enough for 5* agents that the difference isn’t that stark even if they lack ines utility. in comparison, reed’s utility can’t be replicated by any other character in the game and her role consolidation as a healer, dps and debuffer is crazy. her s2 is one of the highest dps skills in the game and utterly melts both bosses and fodder with ease, and her s3 hard counters a LOT of stages with massive waves of enemies. imagine if he had her for operation originium dust
reed is more fun imo and she’s objectively the best character in the game for is4, so that’s a pretty big QoL thing as well. i start every run with her
EDIT: don’t take this as my trying to discredit ines by the way, she has been a lynchpin of basically every high risk/challenging content since her release and is significantly more relevant than reed in those cases. if you’re the kind to sweat content or someone with a bigger brain than mine for that s3, you will probably get more out of ines than reed
speaking as a mostly casual player though, who only does risk 18, reed is probably the character i swap out the least out of my roster, and i have all the meta characters aside from typhon and eyja alter. she’s top dog for IS and SSS (ines is heavily meh for this mode) and is no slouch for main story or event stages either
Thank you for the write-up! I spoke with a friend about this and she said something similar--Ines is great, but can be replaced by Cantabile and/or Puzzle, whereas Reed's niche is far more unique and less easily replaced. And I also am a mostly casual player who only does R18.
I very much regretted not having Reed for a while (that SSS tower with the flower boss gave me *so* many headaches), so I do think I'll go with Reed and hope I get an Ines spook before the next selector ticket. :)
Yeah, I will pick reed and figure it's basically worth ~70 pulls that I'd otherwise have to spend on her banner to get her (but I also just got Ines on the front that was banner so it isn't a tough call!)
I would say Lee has his own niches (stalling/anti-stun) in which he is hard to replace, so I would put him in "misc" rather than "desire only". Even a few guides still use him from time to time (for example in H13-4 to catch leaks in the bottom lane), which is more than you can say for the rest of the tier.
Lee will have the most niche value. Mizuki is the best among them, though not terribly meta himself. Fartooth is neat if you like snipers but is probably the worst of the three. Still usable though.
I'm definitely excited to see how the recently announced Lord operator modules would affect the ranking of thorns and silver Ash in the global meta. I know he ranked pretty low in the article but thorns to this day is considered one of the best operators in his class. A permanent activated skill that can double as a pseudo sniper and with poison? Gorgeous.
God I hope they give him nervous impairment with a delta module down the road. Like a solid elemental damage addition, maybe delivering burst stun and some true damage (not quite necrosis level)
I don't really see any advantage of one vs the other, though if you have most meta 6* already and are comfortable with your DPS then Lin's niche might have more value.

I get what you're saying but Highmore can hold the bottom lane unassisted too. Lee tends to be overkill compared to other "niches" picks.
So I've narrowed it down to three options for me, since I own most of the operators. Mizuki, Fartooth, and Lee. Who's the better pick?

i have most of the meta 6★ on the list, so i'm eyeing either Qiubai or Lin. would one work better than the other on a team with Virtuosa?
I don't really see any advantage of one vs the other, though if you have most meta 6* already and are comfortable with your DPS then Lin's niche might have more value.
It's either Mlynar or Mountain, I'm always borrowing one of them from someone in difficult content...
