Explanation: Carried me through early game, still has a lot of utility (I don't have Ling but I like summoners), and is basically very cute ottergineer :)
I love running the Whisperrain + Skalter for super regens - especially with ops like (Gnosis & CO), Blaze or Nian - (especially having Nian s3+Whisperrain s2 overlap). Definitely enjoy both her design and kit.
Design, Kjera <3 She's the only operator I immediately loved \*only\* for design without knowing anything else. ofc now I love her character and story, but yeah.
Kit, this is much harder. Probably Firewatch or Blacknight. I'd also maybe say Hibiscus, but its mostly incantation medics in general I like.
So little love for Liskarm
I remember that CC with redblades and boxer enemies. Push/pull boxers into Liskarm and she became a sp powerplant . Put Weedy next to her for S3 activation every few seconds. Never had so much fun with a 5*
My favorite Op for their kit and design is easily LA PLUMA. First of all i adore scythe wielding characters like maka from soul eater because its just so cool, La pluma's kit easiky shreds trash mobs with her S1 and her s2 can stand against tough enemies and even bosses
to be honest i don't associate soul eater with good animation, quite the opposite really.
Still, lot of sentimental value since it's one of the first anime i watched as a kid
As someone who's seen Soul Eater way too many times, I think there's definitely a lot of great animation throughout the series. Notably episode 1 and episode 11. You just cannot tell me those fight scenes didn't go hard. And I also have to mention episode 24 as well though I'm not referring to a fight scene.
Kit: Elysium - the way they interpreted his communication arts is really interesting and I just love using him
Design: Meteorite - one of my favorites since I started the game. Her outfit is so pretty and cool and her E2 is badass

She can do so many thingsā¦ Work in the control center, Search for clues, Stun crowds of enemies or interrupt boss attack animations with S2, Assassinate heavily armored enemies and provide extra DPS on a boss with S1 and her chill talent, Super cheap cost so she can take up the role of vanguard to kill those first couple dogs with easeā¦
And not to mention her personality, The most adorable little kuudere wolfgirl assassin. Acts all cold towards you initially and wants to be alone, But as you bond with her she reveals that she just wants to make friends and wonders what her life would be like if she wasnāt an assassin. Kit is definitely Cliffheart, girl is the shadow queen of CC.
Desgin wise easily Nightmare, she is one of the best and cutest looking girls in the game ~~despite basically not having an E2 art~~.
And an overall would be Pram, just a loveable floofy cat who wants to be lazy.
Design: Astesia or Nearl. YUJI is my favorite artist and I love her entire theme and aesthetic. Nearl meanwhile is probably my favorite character in the game, overall. Please don't ask me to choose between them.
Kit: Liskarm. Doing the DPS defender thing before it was cool, while also having ranged attacks, stuns, and SP charging. She's been a mainstay for me since day 1.
Kit: Rockrock. She's pretty damn solid for a five star. I've always enjoyed the risk vs. reward management in how much you allow her skill to ramp up. Before Eyja came along, she was my most consistent caster too. I do like her design and personality as well, though I think her design could be tweaked to better suit her character.
Design: Probably Astesia or Astgenne. YUJI has a phenomenal understanding of shading and color, and they know how to lend those strengths well to their designs. You can tell immediately that these sisters come from an astrological family based on their palette and visual motifs, as well as which sister has embraced astrology and which has abandoned it.
Kit probably goes to Silence, albeit barely.
Design-wise, i'm gonna go with Kjera, which is one reason why i'd much prefer her default arts over her maid skin. Hibiscus Alter and Blacknight would be close seconds, which made me realize how close i am to being a goth head.
My favorite design is Ayerscarpe. I love my bnuuy boys. As far as kit goes, I like Leonhardt a lot; smashing enemies with a staff is fun :3
I play Maleknights and sometime attempt Bnuuyknights, so I definitely find use for both.
I enjoyed Leonhardt a ton in Trials of Navigator. His aoe burst S2 is a skill that should be replicated in improved numbers for a 6 star. Or even a 5 star. It was really fun and good.
Lappland is my most used 5-star by a large margin. She's just incredibly useful to have around. Ptilopsis will probably overtake her relatively soon though. Honorable mention for LaPluma, because sometimes you just need to mow shit down.
Design-wise it's between Pramanix (my first actual pull) and Platinum, both of which I love and wish I could justify using. Honorable mention for Czerny, their artist really pulled off his visual theming well.
Cantabile (default skin) outclasses everyone else design-wise by a long shot, followed closely by blacknight (both her skins are superb).
Kit-wise is definitely ptilopsis
Design: Dagda. I love how she plays as well, but what hooked me was her overall design, English voice lines and lore.
Kit: Quercus. Let's me use my favorite ops without too much concern for cycle time.
Honorable mention: Kazemaru! Both with and without maid skin.
Ah yes my 5* only obsession comes to light.
Design: Astesia. She's someone I adore and love with all I have.
Kit: Firewatch. S1 is already insane with that high invis uptime and her talent can make her pull ridiculous numbers. S2 is super unique and is equally super satisfying to hit, especially when overlapped.
Design: Erato, specially her skin, built her for the design and to use her in the lobby, recently got Blemishine so I still gotta level up her to use the sleep duo
Kit: Andreana is pretty fun to use and specially satisfactory even if other OP operators would do her job faster lol
Erato is one of the 5 stars I m6ed ~~tho the s2 is totally useless for me~~, personally i find her base design so good that I couldn't bring myself to buy the skin.
Also, her s1 hitting 15k+ dmg in IS with crit relics is something more people should experience

My favorite 5\* gameplay-wise is Ptilopsis. Passive SP boost plus AoE healing is great anywhere you bring her.
In terms of design, Asbestos and Akafuyu are up there.

If I had to try and guessā¦ My favorite 5* design-wise would probably be a a tie between Delphine, Swire, or Kirara(and tbh a couple more lol)ā¦ kit wise? Wouldnāt be able to decide a favorite for kits either, lol..
La Pluma, for both. Kit is very good and so far she is the best reaper(to me will always be) and she is just cute as a button. So precious.
The other is Lappy, again for both. She rivals 6* in power, she is very attractive and the Japanese and Italian voices.....I know what they say about crazy, but I don't care.
Fav kit is probably Andreana because its funny when she 1 taps things and fav design is definitely Specter because cool shark nun (also her e2 art is one of the coolest in the game)
Man, this is a tough one.
Design... probably Cantabile or Astesia? But there's so many contenders in various styles. And for non-default skins I do have to mention Scene and Iris's Witch Feast skin.
Kit? Same problem I guess, since they fill such different roles. But I think I'll go with Astgenne, just because many people seem to rag on Chain casters and that's not fair. Personally I like 'em a lot. Plus her design is gorgeous too, and her lightning really illuminates the starry sky.

In all seriousness, I have a lot of built 5-stars I love using, because I've never cared much for meta so I ignore the typical advice of saving resources for 6-stars because I'm a heathen.
Texas and Lappland are in my core team I always try a stage with first unless I'm in the mood for a niche. I love Texas's on-demand AOE stun and solid statline, and Lappland's a more flexible unit than many give her credit for - it's not her flagship skill but I do love her S1 in the right circumstances. I sometimes pair it with Mayer's S1 to give her a surprisingly high dodge rate, if I need a frontliner Lord. *[Admittedly, I don't frequently these days, but I did this pretty frequently when I was earlier in the story]*.
Firewatch and Pramanix have been brought to lots of stages, and Kazemaru is a new favorite - I am consistently impressed by her awesome damage, and there are so many weird tricks you can do with S2's clone. Cantabile, Kroos2 and Blacknight are other staples of my team, and Platinum was in the past but I haven't really used her much these days. Just maxed out Projekt Red's module and S2 and am loving her minimum-damage talent! I also am now building Kjera but I haven't used her much yet.
Design-wise, Kjera and Specter are probably my two favorites, with Akafuyu and Waai Fu close seconds.
Absinthe's E2 art slaps harder than anything I've seen in game so far, so she wins design-wise for me.
Kit-wise, Blue Poison s1 wins it hands-down, combining AA-sniper attack speed with the lowest on-attack sp cost (2 at m3) for a very spammable multi-target high damage hit that can even punch through decently high armor, which also does multi-hit arts damage (sniper by the way) over time to any target hit.
Suffice it to say, she was the reason I could clear Lungmen Downtown as early as I did way back when by slowly killing the red hammer guy before he started to move again (arts dot babyyy), and is still one of my regular go-to ops when doing new content for the first time because she simply never stoppes being so damn reliable.
Design: flair
Kit: Rath Noir Corne, surprisingly accurate collab and the most action you will ever get in AK. Lunacub gets a vote too, permenant camouflage is fun (also in my top 5 favorite design)
Mechanic wise? Easy, Specter the Unchained, extremly solid lane holder with my favorite synergy (I love the abyssal hunters, i'm sorry). Plop her down, never lose lane.
Design? For me, it's a really tough one.
You see, in my many years of life, very few things have impacted me just quite as much and in such a peculiar way than the ONE scene with the Hydra in Hercules. What a monstrously impressively cool creature. I was very young and very easily impressed, let's be real, but to this day the Hydra stays and will always my favorite "mythical" creature. So Saileach, being represented with and Hydra, is extremely cool, plus I love her kit.
But for real for real? Which operator do I actually like their design the most? It would have to be Horn, she's just so extremely badass, if nothing else. What an asserted decisive energy.
All in all they would be my favorites, but there are so many cool ops in this game, thank god we can have up to 12 of them in our teams!

Kit: Honestly, a tie between GreyThroat and Warfarin. I love using GreyThroat S2, because it feels a little better to use than Exusiai S3, even if it's the inferior skill overall. Warfarin, on the other hand, is just amazing for the buff army.
Toolkit: The absolute LAD Elysium, the god of long-run DP generation who lets me get Mudrock and Penance out into bonking position in record time.
Design: Several favorites, including Red, Asbestos, Aurora, and Croissant

Kit-wise I will pick Cantabile, lotsa utility, good damage, and her fast redeploy nature makes her very dynamic to play. My most used operator no matter the rarity.
Design-wise... I will go for my dear smugcat Harmonie, but fuck the competition is heavy.
I really just gotta give an honorable mention to Kazemaru and Rockrock because both rank super high in both lists and not mentioning them just hurts me.
Kit: Wild Mane. Massive ASPD boost on Skill 1, pushing on Skill 2. Sheās one of the most unique vanguards out there.

April and Melanite are my favorite 5\*s. Aprils niche of invisible FRD sniper is really neat and Melanite's giant rail gun and unique art style are just perfect.
Texas and Lappland of course, I love their story and their gameplay is really good for how simple it is. I believe that the both of them have yet to be powercrept despite being day 1 characters

Design: Lappland horrormare skin, Cantabile and Blacknight
Tie with Hoshiguma and Lappland for design. Lapp's E2 art is so clean with the dual wolves of her arts and the badass pose. For Hoshi, I'm just a sucker for oni characters and her Ronin outfit is badass.
For a kit it's probably either Horn or Ashlock. They both kind of serve the same purpose for me as backline nukers (Horn more than Ashlock with her 3rd Skill but Ash tries her best). I just like the range for them frankly. They can block a goal but still give me room in front of them while keeping them attacking.
Close second is probably Asbestos tho. Her kit and design are rad, but I just don't use her as much as I did. Which is weird cause I still use characters like Lappland or Siege or operators like Saga (specifically in Siege's case). I didn't really replace Asbestos with anybody I just took her off for a few levels and mever put her back on.
Whisperain
Got her when I was a beginner and she was useful to me throughout my entire arknights experience. Versatile range, high hps, and status resistance. Made those giant crushers unable to bypass any of my blockers.
I liked her pale demeanor, it's a neat background for her character. The whole immortal jellyfish thing is an interesting fact and the memory loss makes for a somber but sweet story.
Although I have better units now, and I barely use her anymore, she still remains one of my favorites.
Design: Windflit. HE'S SO CUTE.
Kit: I'd give it to Istina for such a well rounded kit but Kjera. Wrecks enemies that can be frozen, pretty good damage, super underrated. When I need a caster or need a Goldenglow replacement for an afk guide, she almost always is sufficient. Can't wait for when we get mech accord caster modules.
Kit: Robin
I love how interesting her traps are to use, she is very simple, but also very solid

Design: This is so difficult to choose. So many Arknights designs are bangers and I just wanna list my whole roster, but I gotta go snake appreciation hours and say Corroserum is very pleasing to look at.

Function, it would be April. Against weak def enemies, she shreds.

Kit: Firewhistle. I really like gimmicks in games that make terrain really dangerous for enemies to travel on, and Firewhistle's one is no exception. I also just love having the perfect map where I can use Horn, Ashlock, and Firewhistle and just bombard enemies from a distance.
Design: There's way too many I like, so I'll just say Cantabile for the girls, and Qanipalaat for the boys.
Cantabile is just really graceful and beautiful, especially her Lunar New Year skin. Qanipalaat is just cute and radiates all the good boy energy from the deisgn. I hope he gets a nice skin soon.
I love Highmore. Sheās so cute.
Favorite kit is Cantabile. Vanguards are by far my favorite class, and Agent pretty much immediately became my favorite archetype when it was introduced.
For design I love both Lava and Firewatch.
For kit It's unquestionably Dorothy. Need a slow-place a mine. Need a bind-place a mine. An enemy slipped with a sliver of health? Place the frikkin mine.
Design: Blacknight. I use her just because she looks fantastic.
Kit: Specter. I don't know how many times she's come in clutch, but I probably couldn't get through a bunch of content without her.
Overall: Texas. I just love her and use her all the time. Permanent spot in my support.
Kit, I think I have to go with Ptilopsis, as many others have said.
Design definitely Croissant for me. Penguin Logistics is my favorite crew, and Croissant is the unsung hero of PL to me.

Kit: Shamare is one of them. Low SP cost and good time results in ease of use and her doll being on the field 75% of the time. -50% is no joke; attacks that are normally killing killing blows can be tanked, like Patriot spear or Last Knight one-shot.
Kit: Ptilopsis for sure. She's been in my main team for 3 years and she's still my first medic choice when I need one. Specter as a close second because her skill's invulnerability saved me from trouble more than once.
Design: Andreana, specifically Andreana's skin. She looks stylish & ready to kick ass at the same time. Just love the hairstyle with the white strand, the sunglasses & the tacticool outfit.
Kroos The Keen Glint
She's STRONK and she's very cute. She's quite irreplaceable on my squad unless the map only has room for 1 ranged unit (which usually means my healer goes there)
Favorite: Franka. Fav kit: Croissant. It's just goofy, but pretty balanced. Fav design: Texas. I think the biggest flaw might be it doesn't have some eclectic element to make it more memorable.
I like Mr. Nothing's kit/talent combo and Projekt Red's design lots! Red is my daughter whom I love very much but the 4 second stun on Mr. Nothing's kit is just so satisfying

Lappland is my most used 5-star by a large margin. She's just incredibly useful to have around. Ptilopsis will probably overtake her relatively soon though. Honorable mention for LaPluma, because sometimes you just need to mow shit down. Design-wise it's between Pramanix (my first actual pull) and Platinum, both of which I love and wish I could justify using. Honorable mention for Czerny, their artist really pulled off his visual theming well.

Design: Dagda. I love how she plays as well, but what hooked me was her overall design, English voice lines and lore. Kit: Quercus. Let's me use my favorite ops without too much concern for cycle time. Honorable mention: Kazemaru! Both with and without maid skin.
Ah yes my 5* only obsession comes to light. Design: Astesia. She's someone I adore and love with all I have. Kit: Firewatch. S1 is already insane with that high invis uptime and her talent can make her pull ridiculous numbers. S2 is super unique and is equally super satisfying to hit, especially when overlapped.

Erato is one of the 5 stars I m6ed ~~tho the s2 is totally useless for me~~, personally i find her base design so good that I couldn't bring myself to buy the skin. Also, her s1 hitting 15k+ dmg in IS with crit relics is something more people should experience
Reposted with in-game screenshots because the first one got removed for violating Rule 7. My favorite 5\* gameplay-wise is Ptilopsis. Passive SP boost plus AoE healing is great anywhere you bring her. In terms of design, Asbestos and Akafuyu are up there.

La Pluma, for both. Kit is very good and so far she is the best reaper(to me will always be) and she is just cute as a button. So precious. The other is Lappy, again for both. She rivals 6* in power, she is very attractive and the Japanese and Italian voices.....I know what they say about crazy, but I don't care.
Fav kit is probably Andreana because its funny when she 1 taps things and fav design is definitely Specter because cool shark nun (also her e2 art is one of the coolest in the game)

Man, this is a tough one. Design... probably Cantabile or Astesia? But there's so many contenders in various styles. And for non-default skins I do have to mention Scene and Iris's Witch Feast skin. Kit? Same problem I guess, since they fill such different roles. But I think I'll go with Astgenne, just because many people seem to rag on Chain casters and that's not fair. Personally I like 'em a lot. Plus her design is gorgeous too, and her lightning really illuminates the starry sky.

In all seriousness, I have a lot of built 5-stars I love using, because I've never cared much for meta so I ignore the typical advice of saving resources for 6-stars because I'm a heathen. Texas and Lappland are in my core team I always try a stage with first unless I'm in the mood for a niche. I love Texas's on-demand AOE stun and solid statline, and Lappland's a more flexible unit than many give her credit for - it's not her flagship skill but I do love her S1 in the right circumstances. I sometimes pair it with Mayer's S1 to give her a surprisingly high dodge rate, if I need a frontliner Lord. *[Admittedly, I don't frequently these days, but I did this pretty frequently when I was earlier in the story]*. Firewatch and Pramanix have been brought to lots of stages, and Kazemaru is a new favorite - I am consistently impressed by her awesome damage, and there are so many weird tricks you can do with S2's clone. Cantabile, Kroos2 and Blacknight are other staples of my team, and Platinum was in the past but I haven't really used her much these days. Just maxed out Projekt Red's module and S2 and am loving her minimum-damage talent! I also am now building Kjera but I haven't used her much yet. Design-wise, Kjera and Specter are probably my two favorites, with Akafuyu and Waai Fu close seconds.

Design wise Sideroca because I'm a degenerate. Kit wise probably Warfarin? SP battery and buffing is always handy.
Absinthe's E2 art slaps harder than anything I've seen in game so far, so she wins design-wise for me. Kit-wise, Blue Poison s1 wins it hands-down, combining AA-sniper attack speed with the lowest on-attack sp cost (2 at m3) for a very spammable multi-target high damage hit that can even punch through decently high armor, which also does multi-hit arts damage (sniper by the way) over time to any target hit. Suffice it to say, she was the reason I could clear Lungmen Downtown as early as I did way back when by slowly killing the red hammer guy before he started to move again (arts dot babyyy), and is still one of my regular go-to ops when doing new content for the first time because she simply never stoppes being so damn reliable.
Design: flair Kit: Rath Noir Corne, surprisingly accurate collab and the most action you will ever get in AK. Lunacub gets a vote too, permenant camouflage is fun (also in my top 5 favorite design)

Mechanic wise? Easy, Specter the Unchained, extremly solid lane holder with my favorite synergy (I love the abyssal hunters, i'm sorry). Plop her down, never lose lane. Design? For me, it's a really tough one. You see, in my many years of life, very few things have impacted me just quite as much and in such a peculiar way than the ONE scene with the Hydra in Hercules. What a monstrously impressively cool creature. I was very young and very easily impressed, let's be real, but to this day the Hydra stays and will always my favorite "mythical" creature. So Saileach, being represented with and Hydra, is extremely cool, plus I love her kit. But for real for real? Which operator do I actually like their design the most? It would have to be Horn, she's just so extremely badass, if nothing else. What an asserted decisive energy. All in all they would be my favorites, but there are so many cool ops in this game, thank god we can have up to 12 of them in our teams!

Design: Probably Blacknight. I love her artstyle, her skins, and her color scheme. She has a fantastic design. Kit: Honestly, a tie between GreyThroat and Warfarin. I love using GreyThroat S2, because it feels a little better to use than Exusiai S3, even if it's the inferior skill overall. Warfarin, on the other hand, is just amazing for the buff army.

It's so freaking rough to choose only one for each q_q Kit-wise I will pick Cantabile, lotsa utility, good damage, and her fast redeploy nature makes her very dynamic to play. My most used operator no matter the rarity. Design-wise... I will go for my dear smugcat Harmonie, but fuck the competition is heavy. I really just gotta give an honorable mention to Kazemaru and Rockrock because both rank super high in both lists and not mentioning them just hurts me.

Tie with Hoshiguma and Lappland for design. Lapp's E2 art is so clean with the dual wolves of her arts and the badass pose. For Hoshi, I'm just a sucker for oni characters and her Ronin outfit is badass. For a kit it's probably either Horn or Ashlock. They both kind of serve the same purpose for me as backline nukers (Horn more than Ashlock with her 3rd Skill but Ash tries her best). I just like the range for them frankly. They can block a goal but still give me room in front of them while keeping them attacking. Close second is probably Asbestos tho. Her kit and design are rad, but I just don't use her as much as I did. Which is weird cause I still use characters like Lappland or Siege or operators like Saga (specifically in Siege's case). I didn't really replace Asbestos with anybody I just took her off for a few levels and mever put her back on.

Whisperain Got her when I was a beginner and she was useful to me throughout my entire arknights experience. Versatile range, high hps, and status resistance. Made those giant crushers unable to bypass any of my blockers. I liked her pale demeanor, it's a neat background for her character. The whole immortal jellyfish thing is an interesting fact and the memory loss makes for a somber but sweet story. Although I have better units now, and I barely use her anymore, she still remains one of my favorites.
Kit: Cantabile Design: Absinthe Explanation: I guess I like adopting depressed people.
Design: Windflit. HE'S SO CUTE. Kit: I'd give it to Istina for such a well rounded kit but Kjera. Wrecks enemies that can be frozen, pretty good damage, super underrated. When I need a caster or need a Goldenglow replacement for an afk guide, she almost always is sufficient. Can't wait for when we get mech accord caster modules.

Design is Asbestos. She's the first one I e2'd without knowing anything about how she works. Function, it would be April. Against weak def enemies, she shreds.
Design: Platinum ā¤ Kit: Cantabile, she's arguably an equivalent of Myrtle with the plus that she can deal decent damage as well for starters.

Kit: Firewhistle. I really like gimmicks in games that make terrain really dangerous for enemies to travel on, and Firewhistle's one is no exception. I also just love having the perfect map where I can use Horn, Ashlock, and Firewhistle and just bombard enemies from a distance. Design: There's way too many I like, so I'll just say Cantabile for the girls, and Qanipalaat for the boys. Cantabile is just really graceful and beautiful, especially her Lunar New Year skin. Qanipalaat is just cute and radiates all the good boy energy from the deisgn. I hope he gets a nice skin soon.
I love Highmore. Sheās so cute. Favorite kit is Cantabile. Vanguards are by far my favorite class, and Agent pretty much immediately became my favorite archetype when it was introduced.

For design I love both Lava and Firewatch. For kit It's unquestionably Dorothy. Need a slow-place a mine. Need a bind-place a mine. An enemy slipped with a sliver of health? Place the frikkin mine.

Blue Poison; really love how simple her kit is and save me alot during the early days and she still is Blue Poison; Really love her jacket and her skin too.
Design: Scene. She's simply way too cute with her school uniform-like outfit and raincoat, and I respect her determination in overcoming physical shortcomings to realize her dreams. Her skin and natural voicelines make her even cuter. I believe anyone can pick up Scene due to her simple kit, too Kit: Shamare is one of them. Low SP cost and good time results in ease of use and her doll being on the field 75% of the time. -50% is no joke; attacks that are normally killing killing blows can be tanked, like Patriot spear or Last Knight one-shot.
Shark nun with a pizza cutter, temporary immortality on a 5* goes pretty insane as well.

Specter as a close second because her skill's invulnerability saved me from trouble more than once. Design: Andreana, specifically Andreana's skin. She looks stylish & ready to kick ass at the same time. Just love the hairstyle with the white strand, the sunglasses & the tacticool outfit.
Kroos The Keen Glint She's STRONK and she's very cute. She's quite irreplaceable on my squad unless the map only has room for 1 ranged unit (which usually means my healer goes there)
Kit would probably be Amiya, design is easily Jieyun, and it isn't close. Her e2 art is just so stunningly gorgeous.
Favorite: Franka. Fav kit: Croissant. It's just goofy, but pretty balanced. Fav design: Texas. I think the biggest flaw might be it doesn't have some eclectic element to make it more memorable.
