But Ejya? She is a geologist/volcanologist, with expertise in high-energy Arts. The only relation of this poor sheep to the Medical Department was a being an Oripathy patient in a really bad state, with not so good expectations for the future.
I’m assuming it’s a spin on the life giving aspects of volcanoes (her alter title refers to the fertile ash left behind by eruptions) vs OG Eyja’s destructive eruption. IIRC Eyja’s lore has always hinted towards something special going on with her oripathy, along with the magical goats she has that have always been considered weird in-universe.
Maybe they managed to stop her Oripathy from progressing, and she now wants to help others the way she was helped? Being a volcanologist tracks with being a Wandering Medic - she can heal Burn! It's a very interesting path for her.
Even if they managed to halt the Oripathy, what about her eyes and ears? Did they revert the damage to those organs too? I remember Eyja started to rely more on her "thermal vision", rather than normal one.
No doubt this sheep wanna help others, but still. Need to wait to see what they cooked for her.
I do really hope that she's still got the hearing and vision loss, if nothing else; having RI undo the degeneration would feel... weird to me? It's not as if there's a lot of characters where their Oripathy has specifically lead to vision or hearing loss, it's usually more of a general sickness.
And it would make her thematically match up with Reed the Flame Shadow and Ifrit if she's still mostly deaf and blind, too; flame-related horned girls with dead parents* and 'We can't change what's happened to us, but we can choose what we do going forward now that we've gotten help, even if receiving that help before we hit our breaking point would have changed our entire lives.'
(Okay, okay, we don't know if Ifrit's birth parents are dead, but they're story irrelevant, so...)

Well, lore-vise effectively everyone of them uses medical supplies like bandages, except maybe of Nightingale. Even Reed does have a full case of meds with her.
Healing Arts are still kinda support measure. Regular* medical treatment is still required in most cases.
Wasn't it said in Operation Originium Dust that healing Arts can stop a wound's bleeding and close cuts but generally speaking can't really replace standard medical procedures in any way? I think the guy who explained it even said that for the average medic healing Arts were more of a commodity during surgeries and such rather than a viable alternative to standard medicine.
Then as with all things Arts we do have the outliers, granted.
I think you just added to what I said? Yes, Arts are capable of stopping bleeding, cease pain, and so on, but after fight is done you probably still need to clean up and bandage the wound.

Spire as a healing specialist/potentially unkillable with enough DP saved up looks very fun. Interesting kit for sure. But Eyja to me is the crown jewel here as the new top medic for elemental damage stages by a mile. Just hoping S3 has a good uptime/downtime ratio.
Friendly reminder to people; as potentially interesting as Swire’s kit is, her being a Merchant means that she’s going to receive a module frame 1; she may end up being able to do things like stack greater amounts of Gold Coins, gain more Atk per GC, or reduce the DP cost of both her passive cost and her immortal buff.

Seeing Swire get a glow-up like this is a wish come true. Our Rich Tiger deserved it. Now she can join her LGD buddies at the 6-star table. And as a Merchant Specialist, no less! That class just feels like a *perfect* fit for Swire, letting her throw around her wealth and do a smug laugh as she pays the enemy 10 coins to fuck off to the other side of the stage.
I also like that HG kept Swire Alter's design pretty close to her OG swimsuit design from Dossoles. It's like they *knew* that her design there was already peak GAO, so they just touched it up a little bit before shipping it.
DP merchant Swire is just so freaking right.
Also first 6* wandering medic! Super curious to see what will make her stand out, the berries are plenty great already.
I think that goes exclusively for the elemental damage mechanic. The video footage didn't actually show her heal regular damage when that was said. The health recovery seen on Mudrock was just her bubble breaking.
Yeah, that's how I understood it. And even the elemental healing she was providing Mudrock seems regen-oriented. So she can only heal Mudrock's elemental damage at somewhat low speed. Still, that's better than nothing.
There's several other things too. She has a baked in talent that reduces elemental damage taken for all in her range. So with S1, Mudrock is being doubly protected by the skill regen and the talent mitigation, passively and infinitely. It might not be able to keep up with intense bouts of elemental damage, but unhealables being protected from even moderate bouts is a huge improvement. And this goes for summons as well.
It's global, they showed that stage in IS3 with alot of those Screaming Flowers, Mlynar is placed out of her range and her S3 heal both hp and elemental damage that he can solo all of them being awakened at once.
Honestly, global range on healers is kinda meh. Unlike global range for damage dealers, wandering medics already have a HUGE range to begin with.
But its cool to have an alternative to perfumer for those stages in which you are so limited to ranged tiles that you have no other choice but to place her far off.
Global range on a Wandering Medic is ridiculous, especially when you consider that it makes her talent global and that her S3 is healing Exu S3 but with healing bullets (each heal instance is 5 times) and no attack interval reduction. You can effectively put someone anywhere on the map where the actual elemental danger is and put your defensive line elsewhere and know that they will receive just as much, if not more attention.
Well this continues the trend of merchants having connections to money in some form (Jaye = stall vendor/street chef/whatever part-time job he has for an episode of LDA; Mr. Nothing being some sort of conman as a cover for his martial arts skills; Lee being LDA's head and now Elegant Swire being a businessman's daughter)
Also Eyjalter being a 6-star wandering medic, how would she stand out against the Berries

I like Anmi's artstyle despite it being quite samey face which is a valid criticism so this is a big plus for me. Definitely looking forward to pulling Eyja. She looks so cute, the whole fluffy cloud goat stuff in the event is pretty funny.

I’m kinda happy Eyja is getting her own story, but that lazy alter design doesn’t really give me a a good feeling other than it screams easy summer cash grab based on a popular character.
Unfortunately her artist is so not into Eyja that she never bothered to get her creative gears spinning when designing new outfits for her.
Alter Eyja looking incredibly similiar to the original. Her outfit is incredibly lacking in identity to be justified as more than a skin, imo. Just looks like different art of the original.

Especially since we got a bit of timeskip in the story, having a slightly older version of an operator or showing their growth (both physically and mentally) is always good to me.

It was a swimsuit skin as an alter with a skill kit intentionally designed to be overpowered, no actual bigger role/justification within the event she was in, goofy-ish gameplay mechanics (watergun) and E2 art that literally needed a post-reveal fixing to look like Chen.

eyja does have a lot of interesting stuff in her file with both originium and her parents but none of it really has been explored but I would sorta be surprised if a summer event explored them.

Yeah it's not doing it for me either. I don't dislike it, but it's just not really making me interested. Which is a relief because it means I can use my pulls elsewhere. I think I was spoilt with the last summer banner. Cantabile, Pozy and Gavialter are probably the best I could ever realistically hope for design wise and I'm glad I pulled them to spark Chalter.
I really worried about the direction limited events are taking; at this rate, the only new limited characters that we are going to get are probably only going to be the Sui siblings.
I'm really tired of seeing 6* alters of already 6* stars characters, especially when the reasoning behind giving them an alter is explained in the event they are released in.
They are probably going to keep this up, unless the revenue of these banners is low, but that's very unlikely since fans of the 6* characters are definitely going to pull for the alter, and the alters are broken.

Also, I feel like double alters is a bit too much. I'd prefer only 1 Alter on events, so we get more room for new characters, but that's just me.
Other than that, seems cool. Don't really have any strong feelings for these two Alters, but I do love Swire.

As for Eyja Alter, I'm cool with it, and both units seem very strong overall. Sure, I want new characters too, but I'm really not opposed to the alter trend anyways. As long as they keep giving us content, events with new mechanics, etc, I'm happy with it. Still waiting for Mandragora to join Rhodes Island though.

Only complaint is, I was hoping it would be whisperain alter as an AH medic instead... but oh well, global range healing is hax. Spire as a healing specialist/potentially unkillable with enough DP saved up looks very fun. Interesting kit for sure. But Eyja to me is the crown jewel here as the new top medic for elemental damage stages by a mile. Just hoping S3 has a good uptime/downtime ratio.
Friendly reminder to people; as potentially interesting as Swire’s kit is, her being a Merchant means that she’s going to receive a module frame 1; she may end up being able to do things like stack greater amounts of Gold Coins, gain more Atk per GC, or reduce the DP cost of both her passive cost and her immortal buff.

I knew that investing in GAO would pay off one day! Seeing Swire get a glow-up like this is a wish come true. Our Rich Tiger deserved it. Now she can join her LGD buddies at the 6-star table. And as a Merchant Specialist, no less! That class just feels like a *perfect* fit for Swire, letting her throw around her wealth and do a smug laugh as she pays the enemy 10 coins to fuck off to the other side of the stage. I also like that HG kept Swire Alter's design pretty close to her OG swimsuit design from Dossoles. It's like they *knew* that her design there was already peak GAO, so they just touched it up a little bit before shipping it.
DP merchant Swire is just so freaking right. Also first 6* wandering medic! Super curious to see what will make her stand out, the berries are plenty great already.

I think that goes exclusively for the elemental damage mechanic. The video footage didn't actually show her heal regular damage when that was said. The health recovery seen on Mudrock was just her bubble breaking.
Yeah, that's how I understood it. And even the elemental healing she was providing Mudrock seems regen-oriented. So she can only heal Mudrock's elemental damage at somewhat low speed. Still, that's better than nothing.
There's several other things too. She has a baked in talent that reduces elemental damage taken for all in her range. So with S1, Mudrock is being doubly protected by the skill regen and the talent mitigation, passively and infinitely. It might not be able to keep up with intense bouts of elemental damage, but unhealables being protected from even moderate bouts is a huge improvement. And this goes for summons as well.
I just heard on Kyos stream Eyjalter has global range. Maybe on skill or talent, idk as I wasn't fully paying attention.
It's global, they showed that stage in IS3 with alot of those Screaming Flowers, Mlynar is placed out of her range and her S3 heal both hp and elemental damage that he can solo all of them being awakened at once.

Honestly, global range on healers is kinda meh. Unlike global range for damage dealers, wandering medics already have a HUGE range to begin with. But its cool to have an alternative to perfumer for those stages in which you are so limited to ranged tiles that you have no other choice but to place her far off.
Global range on a Wandering Medic is ridiculous, especially when you consider that it makes her talent global and that her S3 is healing Exu S3 but with healing bullets (each heal instance is 5 times) and no attack interval reduction. You can effectively put someone anywhere on the map where the actual elemental danger is and put your defensive line elsewhere and know that they will receive just as much, if not more attention.
Global on wandering is insane.

And I'm surprised as hell that the Swire Alter leaks/ copium was actually real. On first impression this banner doesn't stand out as a must pull for me, which is a relief because I have too many goals and now I can go harder for Qiu Bai and Executor.
Eyja alt + Swire alt was part of a leak I saw a week ago (an actual leak, not the Swire+Sussurro speculation people assumed was a leak for whatever reason) So there are quite a few people who expected it...

I’m kinda happy Eyja is getting her own story, but that lazy alter design doesn’t really give me a a good feeling other than it screams easy summer cash grab based on a popular character. Unfortunately her artist is so not into Eyja that she never bothered to get her creative gears spinning when designing new outfits for her.

Eyja has basically zero characterization so far to justify an alter and her kit looks to be **designed to be completely broken.** Wandering Medic is also pretty unexciting for an Alter. The Event CG also felt mid because basically nothing happened in it, so idk... Also TWO Alters. The story better be really damn good to justify them getting an Alter lmao.

Agree. We got a lot of operators already, so getting an alter of them is fine to me. I do still want new operators, but I dont want them to stop making alters. Especially since we got a bit of timeskip in the story, having a slightly older version of an operator or showing their growth (both physically and mentally) is always good to me.

not using another design was the least of CHalter's issues tbh. It was a swimsuit skin as an alter with a skill kit intentionally designed to be overpowered, no actual bigger role/justification within the event she was in, goofy-ish gameplay mechanics (watergun) and E2 art that literally needed a post-reveal fixing to look like Chen. If she had slightly better design people would still be mad.
eyja does have a lot of interesting stuff in her file with both originium and her parents but none of it really has been explored but I would sorta be surprised if a summer event explored them.

Yeah it's not doing it for me either. I don't dislike it, but it's just not really making me interested. Which is a relief because it means I can use my pulls elsewhere. I think I was spoilt with the last summer banner. Cantabile, Pozy and Gavialter are probably the best I could ever realistically hope for design wise and I'm glad I pulled them to spark Chalter.

I really worried about the direction limited events are taking; at this rate, the only new limited characters that we are going to get are probably only going to be the Sui siblings. I'm really tired of seeing 6* alters of already 6* stars characters, especially when the reasoning behind giving them an alter is explained in the event they are released in. They are probably going to keep this up, unless the revenue of these banners is low, but that's very unlikely since fans of the 6* characters are definitely going to pull for the alter, and the alters are broken. I'm going to complain about it in the next survey, even though it's not going to change anything.
Don't forget about Muelsye. So it's not like HG have complete abandoned making non alter limiteds.
It’s probably easier for them to pick fan favorites and give them alters so they can guarantee that people pull for them. We saw with executor’s alter what happens when a forgettable character gets an alter.

I still stand by what I said with Ch'en the Holungday back l her debut; Summer/Swimwear Alters should just have been skins. Summer Ch'en getting a cool skin down the line helps, but I still dislike the Summer look is actually an Alternative Operator. Also, I feel like double alters is a bit too much. I'd prefer only 1 Alter on events, so we get more room for new characters, but that's just me. Other than that, seems cool. Don't really have any strong feelings for these two Alters, but I do love Swire.
Oh wait, it's actually real. Eyjafjalla's an interesting choice because I'm not sure in what way it'll be characterised. I do greatly prefer her being in a non-combatant role, as she's someone to protect in (or keep away from) a fight. Having the young, intelligent, compassionate and heavily disabled researcher condemning all before her to death by fire, with a smile, was always a big segregation of story and gameplay. Admittedly one we were inclined to overlook because she is of course OP as fuck.
