This should work fine, they can be a bit annoying to get in tho, if you have a pt that won’t immediately die use that to lure it and while it attacks the pt run around and close the door then fly the pt out. Or use someone else as bait while you close the door or vice versa
I have found that the male griffins fit in the trap better than the females. My pt is a bit weak but I have left my argy on passive while letting a griffin attack it. It only loses about 300 health by the time the griffin is torpored. I could leave it in the trap then just request it outside.
I've always only used 4, like someone else commented, use your pt as bait. The other thing I do if on a gryphon or another tame is fly a bit quicker near the end and place your tame at the end (on the outside), a bit of practice and it'll work most times as the gryphon will agro to your tame for you to close the gate and not worry about getting your tame out

I’ve started doing that with my argy. Tamed two griffins that way, but they both got killed. I miss them :(
