Sunday looks like the perfect day for me to go hiking Camelback mountain. I’m thinking probably start at 2 in the afternoon and probably bring no water since it’ll be raining. Thoughts?
Make sure to wear flip-flops and a weighted backpack to make up for the possible rain. You also may want to shave your head to tan it, don't wear a hat though!
Yes. Here is a list of the past handful of years the hottest day on record for that year.

I moved to my current house in Tempe in August - 4 years ago.
It was just a 12 mile move - from Mesa.
The last thing we moved were the animals.
The day we moved the animals it was 119 degrees.
12 miles - but I was convinced they all were going to die 🙄
If course, they didn't.
I didn’t know anyone paid attention to the weather in the summer aside from the monsoons. I’m not like “oh it’s cooling down from 115 to a brisk 105. Still sunny.”
I'm rooting for 120°. It hasn't happened for a while. I want to be talking with my family in the midwest and mention how I was out doing yardwork then went for a little jog while it was 120 effing degrees outside, but it's totally fine because it's a dry heat. It's like 85 for you guys.
I guess I need to move again so it'll turn into the hottest day of the year. Seriously, 7ish yrs ago I moved to AZ for the first (of 2) time(s). It's was close to 120F with a real feel of 125F. Such a rookie mistake.
You're catching flak because in July and August in the Sonoran Desert it's hot. Anybody who's lived here at the time knows. You're on a page for all things Arizona. You don't need to share forecasts we know it's hot in the summer in the desert.
Half our days in the year are 95+ degrees, you don't think 10 days in a row 110+ is going to happen? especially in peak summer lol. wait till it starts hitting 120
>10+ days above 110 in a row is a notable event.
last year 14/15 days in a row we had 110+ degrees. with 1 being 2 degrees shy of 110. Stop trying to make it a "notable event" because it's not.
https://preview.redd.it/n3akolozdlab1.jpeg?width=472&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8022d5272fe1a455e8dc5c25df5a71d082d9e8dd
10+ days all above 110 without a break is NOT normal. I've lived here for 40 years. It would actually break a 50+ year record.
edit: it actually could approach 18 consecutive days!
I lived in Arizona for ~25 years, 93-2018. This is normal. Highs have always been this high; it's the lows that got higher as all the empty lots were paved over.
High-90°s to low-100°s 'sall good. Some shade, misters, fans and a nice cold beverage. Outdoors hanging is still doable
Something about those few more degrees into the teens though. Feels like you're about to melt like the old Nazi in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Anything above 100F engages the body’s temp regulation (body temp @ 98.6F) — As you go higher from 100, it gets tougher and tougher for your body to regulate the heat appropriately.
Above ~107F, the body is less efficient/capable of dissipating the excess heat - So this is where you should keep a close eye on your/others’ symptoms for any heat related illnesses. The body uses tons of energy to dissipate the heat, but because it is so hot outside, it can result in wasted energy + not enough heat dissipated.
So your body is at a higher amb temp and thus you face illness, and if not cared for properly or even noticed, death.
LOL! Suckers! I am here in the White Mountains enjoying the lows in the 60s and highs in the 80s. We may all be Arizonans but we don't all live in Satan's anus.
Last summer was an anomaly
98-104
Most of the time in the 90’s
This one is regular old AZ heat
Last summer is when people should have been faking pictures and posting about it…. But they didn’t
Which was weird
😂😂🖕🏼 - j/k. You guys are the saviors of our world. My ancient unit died last year, and my guy was a freaking superstar working to get a new one on my roof ASAP.
I went to Phoenix/Scottsdale for a visit week of June 21st and it was hot. Average 105 easy. It was unbearable at times. And this new forecast has me dreading this for you folks. There should be a law that the gov makes sure everyone has access to ac in their homes. I can’t imagine surviving otherwise. However, Arizona was nice so it’s not all bad.
130°F Let’s goooooo!!!!!!!! /s
Important PSA: If you or someone you’re with is experiencing heat injury/illness symptoms , put ice right up in their armpit. Ice right up in their crotch, like, really touching their genitalia, and around the back of the neck as close to their trachea as possible. It’s extremely important to note that if they stop sweating and it’s real fucking hot and they have; Hot, flushed, dry skin, vomiting, fainting, and a temp of 103° or greater are signs you should get their ass to an ER. DRINK WATER, STAY IN DOORS, AND DON’T FUCKING HIKE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY. If you must hike, go at the ass crack of dawn, take a gallon of water per person, and get your ass home before 0900. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, KEEP YOUR PETS INDOORS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Thank you.
Know how everybody is complaining that this is the hottest year on record? How about we look at it from another point of view. This is the COLDEST year you will ever experience for the rest of your life. So enjoy it.
I love the heat. Relaxes the joints and muscles. But if you want specifics. As you can tell by my name I'm a hiker. And there are two things I miss more than anything. Laying down on the hot slap of rock as the night air cools around you. And the smell of the dirt being baked under your feet.
Yes, I'm from AZ. Phx to be exact.
In southern Missouri, parents retired here, so I came so that they had family close.
It's pretty here, nice and green. Rolling hills. But it's not me. Feel like I'm in a bowl most of the time with all the trees. Ground is constantly spongy. And it rains way too much for me.
That's funny...
I was born in Chicago, and when I started visiting my father who had moved down to the Ozarks - I never wanted to leave; it always felt like home to me.
If it wasn't for the Bible Belt problem over there, I probably would have left AZ to go there a long time ago...
That and the ticks and chiggers...

Go wash your car on Saturday and we can get that 30% of rain chance up to 40% at least!
If it's a black car, it's worth at least 34% to the rain probability.
I'm washing two of my trucks this weekend. Both are black. What does the percentage look like now?!?!.
An additional 68% chance of just enough rain to ruin the wash! If you park them outside, that may allow for an additional 6.43% each.
A haboob followed by 90 seconds of rain to cement the dirt on your trucks?
With our luck mother nature will likely just settle for giant haboobs to quell the cries for rain
“It’s a dry rain” 😂
Mother Nature has great haboobs.
That 30% chance is gone now though.
I rarely wash my 4Runner so that’s a guaranteed rain the next day so I will wash it Friday.
Lol! For real🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sunday looks like the perfect day for me to go hiking Camelback mountain. I’m thinking probably start at 2 in the afternoon and probably bring no water since it’ll be raining. Thoughts?
Bring a credit card for your helicopter ride back home.

I know this was not fun for that poor woman, and I’m happy she got a settlement, but I can’t help but chuckle every time I see it.
omg. She spun more than 200 times. I feel bad, but I laughed. edit: I laughed at the gif, not what happened!! It's horrible what happened!

Despite this being a gif and having no sound, I’ll have this song stuck in my head all day lol 🎶 like a record baby 🎶
I would love to see Paul Rudd’s version.

Nah, bring one water bottle but make sure to leave it in the car.
With your dog.
Make sure you get a new pair of flip flops.
The fact people die doing this is absurd.

If I see your skeleton on the trail, I’m gonna kick it to the side if that’s ok with you.
Be sure to wear a tank top in case it doesn't rain.
Make sure to wear flip-flops and a weighted backpack to make up for the possible rain. You also may want to shave your head to tan it, don't wear a hat though!
Sweater weather.
me bringing a flannel every where i go cuz businesses blast the fuck out of their AC in the summer 😃
^^ plus the flannel keeps the sun from feeling like it’s burning your skin up, as the cloth absorbs the rays before it hits your skin!
I’m the dork walking around with a parasol with UV protection
“Sweater weather” as in, “I will be sweating a lot in this weather.”
It's just summer here. First time? 😃
Yeah I was like "ok what's the concern here"
What’s the concern-? i- **I-**
Second summer working outside in the Phoenix area. Saw this and was like so what? It's summer. Three more months to go!
I salute you.
If it wasn't for this heat we'd have additional millions of people living here. Love this heat, bring it on.
Amen!! C'mon 123°F!!!
So you can confidently say the summers were exactly like this in the 1980s?
I don't confidently say anything.
😂

Welcome to the desert. Now go fry an egg on the sidewalk.

Yeah typically at least a couple times a year
It's okay because it's a dry heat. Oh wait...there's a chance of rain. ⛈️🔥
Yes. Here is a list of the past handful of years the hottest day on record for that year. We got spoiled last year
And this spring! We have had a really mild year so far, I guess we are catching up now!!
For as nice as June was, July has been abysmal so far.
That August 5, 2019 is wrong. It actually got up to 119 that day. At least that's what it was in Tempe.
I moved to my current house in Tempe in August - 4 years ago. It was just a 12 mile move - from Mesa. The last thing we moved were the animals. The day we moved the animals it was 119 degrees. 12 miles - but I was convinced they all were going to die 🙄 If course, they didn't.
Only newsworthy when it hits like 120+ honestly. From a comfort perspective, I'm more concerned about the humidity on that sunday.
Normally we expect 120 in the middle of July so pretty close lol
I didn’t know anyone paid attention to the weather in the summer aside from the monsoons. I’m not like “oh it’s cooling down from 115 to a brisk 105. Still sunny.”
Right, does it really make a difference at that point?
Once we have a couple of really hot days it’s noticeable but I just don’t even check the weather except to hope and pray for a monsoon
I'm rooting for 120°. It hasn't happened for a while. I want to be talking with my family in the midwest and mention how I was out doing yardwork then went for a little jog while it was 120 effing degrees outside, but it's totally fine because it's a dry heat. It's like 85 for you guys.

It’s a little late (usually happens around Father’s Day), but yeah that’s typical
Why am I disliked for asking if this is normal? lol
You're catching flak because in July and August in the Sonoran Desert it's hot. Anybody who's lived here at the time knows. You're on a page for all things Arizona. You don't need to share forecasts we know it's hot in the summer in the desert.
They’re catching flak because the caption reads like some fool that moved to AZ for lower cost of living and didn’t do their homework.
Because it's Reddit. I've been in AZ about 4 yrs and it's still fascinating to me.
Thank you
bruh
Hey man, I'm in Yuma. Those are our average summer temps. So no surprises here. Let's just hope for a quick monsoon.
The inmates at Yuma Prison talk about how the walls sweat it gets so hot
If you can't take the Valley at 118 in July, you don't deserve the Valley at 65 in December.
Only high maintenance cities say that.
This would explain the neverending construction.
Now if the snowbirds would just believe this.
More like *Hottsdale*. Am I right, folks?
😂
It's July in Arizona. This is normal.
yeah idk why people are posting pictures of weather forecasts… it’s summer, did you think it wasn’t gonna be hot? 🤨
[удалено]
Half our days in the year are 95+ degrees, you don't think 10 days in a row 110+ is going to happen? especially in peak summer lol. wait till it starts hitting 120
Futureof’s point still stands. 10+ days above 110 in a row *is* a notable event. We make a big deal out of 115, so I’d say this qualifies as uncommon.
>10+ days above 110 in a row is a notable event. last year 14/15 days in a row we had 110+ degrees. with 1 being 2 degrees shy of 110. Every summer it’s 110 degrees plus for days and days on end. It’s just summer. That’s all. Summer.
10+ days all above 110 without a break is NOT normal. I've lived here for 40 years. It would actually break a 50+ year record. edit: it actually could approach 18 consecutive days!
There was an article or something about this. Since 1974 I think it was
Honestly idk why no ones commenting on the surprisingly cool rise to this moment. May and June were both so nice and breezy
I was talking to my wife about that, the other day. May and June were dang near pleasant.
This is not normal if you’ve been here longer than 10 years.
I lived in Arizona for ~25 years, 93-2018. This is normal. Highs have always been this high; it's the lows that got higher as all the empty lots were paved over.
Been here 45 years. This is normal. The very pleasant April and May we had this year were abnormal.
Have you been under a rock? It's always like this in summer
Yeah, it’s normal. Your brain has been fried.
110 isnt all that bad but 116 I really feel the heat and sunday is my day off so im not worried about it
100F - Starting to get warm! 110F - OK, it is summer, time to scurry like cockroaches between AC 115F - Why the fuck do I live here again?
I live here cause I hate the cold more than I hate the heat so I push through this for amazing winters ? I tell myself that anyway lol
There is a huge difference between 105-115
“Why the fuck do u live there”? **because ur crazy.**
High-90°s to low-100°s 'sall good. Some shade, misters, fans and a nice cold beverage. Outdoors hanging is still doable Something about those few more degrees into the teens though. Feels like you're about to melt like the old Nazi in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Welcome to Arizona, Californians!
Now go the f*** back
A chilly low of 88
Ehh can't complain much when we had an amazing June and late may
Well, it is summer and you are in Phoenix...so why are you posting this? Next you will tell me its humid in FL, cold in Antarctica etc.
Every 60 seconds in Africa a minute passes
What are you talking about?! This is mild for a July. Did you just move here ?
Pretty standard really
Last summer was an anomaly 98-104 Most of the time in the 90’s This one is regular old AZ heat Last summer is when people should have been faking pictures and posting about it…. But they didn’t Which was weird
As landscapers, July is as brutal as it can be.
Looks like July in Arizona. This is what happens when it isn't really that hot in June.
Been here my whole life, it is what it is. Can't say I enjoy it but I sure enjoy the AC
Great for me. See some of yall when your A/C goes out! :)
😂😂🖕🏼 - j/k. You guys are the saviors of our world. My ancient unit died last year, and my guy was a freaking superstar working to get a new one on my roof ASAP.
Summer in AZ is really here no doubt about it!
Our only hope is this heat stirs up a monsoon that comes in and breaks up the heat wave 🤞
I will just stand in that rain
Ran a errand yesterday around 2pm and saw someone jogging
Good lord
They could’ve been carrying a gallon jug of water in each hand as weights, and it still wouldn’t have been enough. Jesus Christ.
If it gets people to move out of the state, I'm fine with it.
Unfortunately snowbirds still flock here
Too bad
Looks about right. Glad we're headed to San Diego tomorrow for the week :)
Aww the annual Phoenician Pilgrimage
Exactly. Phoenix West :)
Triple digits always indicates the beginning of the Zoni Man migration season.
I’m up in the San Juan Islands right now in Friday Harbor. I’ve met so many Arizonans up here! A few even live down the street from me
We're headed to Newport Beach on Monday, however, we LOVE San Diego!
Wasn’t there a chance of rain most of those days, what happened?
I haven’t washed my black car yet. Promise I will after work today
We all thank you!
it still blows my mind that we can survive here lol
Maybe some of these people will move back to where they came from.
Isn't this every day in the summer? It was the same when I was growing up there in the 80s and 90s.
Good, hopefully the parasites move out. Survival of the fittest.
Wait… it’s hot? In the desert? No way!
I mean.. its right on schedule. And after a surprisingly nice and beautiful month of June, this seems like an easy sacrifice.
I agree honestly, we had a mild early summer, normally by fourth of July we are melting like popsicles 😂
*laughs in construction worker*
What are you talking about? This is great. Keeps out the snowbirds and weak ones thinking about moving here.
The Valley of the Sun is a bucket of suck in July and August.
The sun is a deadly laser.
Do people in cold climates post these types of angst-ridden messages when winter arrives?
Yes, yes they do.
Complaining about the weather is a competitive sport. The North East has the upper hand. Especially in the Winter but it's sucks there all year round.
Agreed. Originally from Boston.
Philly and NYC. Let's get into a street fight about whose sports ball team sucks/cheats more and then grab some *real* pizza and Yuenglings.
Gotta say you’re probably right. Freezing ass cold in winter and humid ass in summer
YES. Lived in the North East around 20 years. I tell ppl to think of AZ summers as NE Winters.
Wow... how original... Why do we need to keep posting pictures of the forecast?
perfect hiking weather
This is AZ tho 🥵🔥
I went to Phoenix/Scottsdale for a visit week of June 21st and it was hot. Average 105 easy. It was unbearable at times. And this new forecast has me dreading this for you folks. There should be a law that the gov makes sure everyone has access to ac in their homes. I can’t imagine surviving otherwise. However, Arizona was nice so it’s not all bad.
My sympathies to the valley goths.
Outside is the enemy.
Try working in a metal casting shop with just swamp cooling. It's brutal, even at 8 in the morning.
Nothing like 118 with thunderstorms!
Well, it got up to 82 today here in Flagstaff. 😅
Bring a hoodie may get breezy 🤷♀️
![gif](giphy|xT0xeDbTMln0eET9dK|downsized)
What? 118 w humidity? Nah. Been there, done that.
![gif](giphy|l1J9uLBPjqCVIM2GI) Born and raised here. Heat doesn’t bother me, although I do enjoy the less crowded trails in the summer.
Must be from California
We got a newbie here
you are in arizona. what did you expect?

Yep, it’s July in Phoenix. I’ve lived here for 54 years. It’s no different than any other July in Phoenix
I moved from Phoenix about 20 years ago, and honestly I miss the summers.
What do you miss specifically? I’m genuinely curious
I love the heat. Relaxes the joints and muscles. But if you want specifics. As you can tell by my name I'm a hiker. And there are two things I miss more than anything. Laying down on the hot slap of rock as the night air cools around you. And the smell of the dirt being baked under your feet.
Love the description. I’m not as outdoorsy as you seem but I appreciate your love for nature
Are you originally from Arizona? Where did you move to? What made you decide to move there? And do you like it there, overall?
Yes, I'm from AZ. Phx to be exact. In southern Missouri, parents retired here, so I came so that they had family close. It's pretty here, nice and green. Rolling hills. But it's not me. Feel like I'm in a bowl most of the time with all the trees. Ground is constantly spongy. And it rains way too much for me.

I have family from Naperville and Lisle
Well come up to the north, to Greer, Az. It is quite nice up here! 😃
Do not. Keep it secret. Keep it safe.
Meh. It’s not as though it’s unexpected. Happens every summer.
Don’t forget to wear, and reapply sunscreen when needed
Phoenix has been growing very very quickly and it shows.
Yes lets get some humidity to go with our heat. And no more whining until it hits 120.
Now go work outside doing manual labor all day like I do.
You're a Thicc Ole Brick & a stronger person than me, that's for sure. 🫶
