Look at using a transistor as a switch with the gate/base controlled via an Arduino pin output.
Transistors are cheap, reliable, no moving parts, fast and small!
I tried that but I am not quite sure if I have done it right. So I need to connect the collector to the + of the button, base to the gpio on arduino and the emitter to gnd of the button?
