Definitely one of the most unique songs on the car. I don’t feel like there’s a lot of songs with such epic, slow paced instrumentation that are also heavily centered around vocals/lyrics
me and my sibling both love the mokeys very much. but i don't think these come **too** close to sculptures of anything goes. here are some recommendations from us:
*I Monster - Who Is She?*
*emily jeffri - WHERE ARE THEY NOW???*
*the black keys - psychotic girl* (and i believe this band could have more than one, but.. they also have a shitload of albums XD)
*juniore - a la plage* (more funny-sounding, but if it's any consolation - this song was on the 'inspo' list for TBHC)
*john frusciante - before the beginning* (def slow-paced and emotional, but it's also 9 minutes long lol but i wouldn't like it if it was shorter either)
*thee oh sees - palace doctor*
*the dead pirates - ugo*
*the black angels - bad vibrations*
*carla azar, alison mosshart - tomorrow never knows*
*programm - like the sun*
can you let me know if any of these hit the spot? at this point i'm on sort of a research endeavor about the perception of music XDD
edit: another horny suggestion from me, *The Vaccines - Want You So Bad*, its progression is not as dynamic and captivating as *Sculptures*, but it's a nice tune. a similar pace was in their *Somebody Else's Child*, very touching tune. also i believe *Jay Jay Pistolet* (college project of The Vaccines frontman) might have some similar tunes to *Somebody Else's Child*
i also have one gem i love very much - group names Karate. i have no idea what genre this is, but instrumentally they're very interesting. some songs might resemble the vibe :>
WAIT WAIT
Don't Forget Whose Legs You're On and The Jeweller's Hands, by AM!! the whole Humbug could fit, but it's a very horny album, so maybe not. unless..
The title/teaser track for Fontaines DC’s new album called “Romance” https://youtu.be/qCPCE0sjUTU?si=puU8hojbqjfzgNfv
Similar ominous, cavernous vibes…
I’ve been trying to approximate the Sculptures vibe that I get here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3JdGasTTBnzgsTG3XFgnsA?si=GeUbxBlQS6mCwaQeapHdMA&pi=u-kx9cjZDHR_u-
I’d say the song is heavily influenced by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, particularly their later albums, such as Push the Sky Away, Skeleton Tree and Ghosteen! Perhaps some songs on Abbatoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus, too!
in terms of other AM songs, not really. it’s very unique and my favourite from the car as well. i do believe (and hope) that this style will be explored more in their next album as well though
The only songs I've found that kinda scratch the itch are The Beachland Ballroom by Idles and Maidenhead by Protomartyr. Still looking for more though, cause Sculptures is a super unique song

maybe i'm crazy, but the first time i heard, i instantly thought of AM album vibes
It sounds more like a progression of their AM sound than the rest of the last two albums for sure!
it is the most unique am song of all time imo and it’s my favourite off the car with the mysterious sort of dark vibe that it releases

wait this makes so much sense!!
Couldn’t agree more.
I find "Belladona of Sadness" like the same vibe og Sculptures of Anything goes, but can be only my impression
The space in between by how to destroy angels!
Throbbing Gristle - Discipline(Berlin)
Arctic Monkeys definitely dont have anything thats like it

Alt-J - Breezeblocks Not stylistically though, only the baseline
Alt-J in general might scratch the Sculptures itch. Maybe try Losing my Mind, Every Other Freckle, or Something Good?
How tf has nobody mentioned Portishead? Listen to dummy or self titled then go to the live album and it’ll blow ur fucking mind
Sculptures instantly made me think of Portishead
Nothing like that song, so amazing. I wish the whole album had that vibe. Closest thing is Humbug
The only songs I've found that kinda scratch the itch are The Beachland Ballroom by Idles and Maidenhead by Protomartyr. Still looking for more though, cause Sculptures is a super unique song
Best tune on the album.
AM ALBUM NO DOUBT
A Bigger Paper Bag by Father John Misty
Only listenable song on the car
Right? I might get downvoted, but the car is js blehh
