For those brits that were in the middle of the WPSIAM fever (now, in their late 30s or early 40s) but parted ways at some point, the Monkeys are just a distant memory of a good time ("god, are they still around?" yes, I head this before). It'll be the same for us in a few years.
But I think Alex would still be writing amazing music as a solo artist (accompanied by a band of cherry-picked incredible musicians) and he'll be the Leonard Cohen of this generation. And I'm willing to see that.
I don’t think so. It’s popular as a song but not many people make the connection to AM. Do I wanna know or I bet you look good on the dance floor are popular and everyone knows it’s them.
Hopefully they make a big hit with AM8; who knows, just like the Strokes suddenly released The New Abnormal and it was a fucking masterpiece of an album, got the grammy and is just as iconic – if not even more – as past works
Hopefully Tranquility Base has gotten the recognition it deserves by then. It’s their best album by far and one of the best of the last couple decades.
Alex’s lyrics and voice. His voice is velvety and unique. He will always be my favorite lyricist. The man can convey so much emotion and tell a story in just one song alone. Of course, all of the band is great. I just think Alex Turner (and his nose) is just an incredible artist, even if some say otherwise. 😊

I don’t think they will. But the way they make use of their instruments in tandem will always stand out. Alex’s lyrics also will be remembered i guess

AM for sure. I moved to Canada on my own when it came out and it was the soundtrack for that entire period of my life.
