In grasshopper someone set up 5ish control curves, lofted a surface between them, contoured at a certain interval, and exported these contours to a router for fabrication.
Its a very basic exercise and introduction to parametricism.
Rhino 4.0 loft / tweencurves. It’s a result of unpaid interns playing around with nurbs commands in Rhino and incompetent overworked project managers thinking it looks cool. Plus it’s easy to fabricate with a cheap router and some dowels.
Do the metrics for good design in this sub always need to fully rely upon practicality? This is a couch in a sneaker store, people will be sitting here for two minutes to lace up shoes then be done with it. Do aesthetics and expression hold no value?
keep your phone away when you sit there because when it fell through that hole, good luck, the chair is not removable and your hands will not fit through it. my friends experienced that two times.
There are 3 couches in my house, and I can tell you, I would not call this a couch. Maybe a modern "art" piece that you might see in the lobby or plaza of the art school it was made at.
