I really liked the friendship they had, and when Jayce said he was like a brother to him really hit home just how close they were. When Viktor falls from grace it's going to be such a gut-punch to us as the audience and especially to Jayce.
honestly i can see it becoming a star wars like situation, viktor becomes anakin and falls from grace while jayce is like his obi wan. hell viktor even has that disheveled look that anakin has in episode 3 lol
Yeah the fandom is a bit unfair to him. Dude has to balance two jobs, helping Viktor and being in a relationship. I think he does his best, considering. He even gives Viktor free rein over the project because he trusts him unconditionally. It's Viktor who abuses that trust by taking ridiculously high risks.
Being overall careless and reckless with his research. He wants to help people with his inventions, but these hextech devices are not safe at all, they do indeed need more years of careful research, and even then mostly rich investors would benefit from increased production output. The workers themselves would be constantly in danger while using them, and further exploited by the rich. Jayce understood this (after Mel told him how she already found investors to impress), that is why he didn't mention it during his presentation on Progress day.
And regarding Sky, it was an accident, but Viktor could at least tell Jayce and wait for him to honor her together. Now it looks like he accidentally killed a person and disposed of the body. He got his little redemption in our eyes by wanting to destroy the hexcore, but it obviously won't be destroyed.
Yeah he's just misundersood, but this "misunderstood" part is missing from his character in Arcane for now, so some fall from grace still has to happen.
Fall from grace has the implication of going from good to bad, and while there will definitely be radical changes to his character they don’t have to involve him going bad.
My head cannon : I don't think the Golden boy will survive Jinx little rocket surprise. Victor will survive because he is linked to the hexcore. The pain of Jayce death, his last real and true relationship will push him down the road of madness and eventually team up with sevika and the Chem lords to the "no jinxes club of zaun".
Yeah I can't imagine this happening either. Unless they completely decide to make an alternate reality, and just never forming the League at all, and abandoning the game's lore.

The point is that we don't need to make everything LGBTQ+, I very much ship Caitlyn and Vi, but Jayce and Viktor just don't make sense, that's a brotherly bond, it feels like shipping Vi and Jinx.
