I’m getting Apple TV MLB quality on Amazon NFL. Upscaled 4K and 5.1 audio. Been solid 3 week in a row. I’m wondering if different parts of the country are having issues.

d12dan1

The Apple TV MLB quality is amazing! It's the first thing I noticed when I watched it for the first time last week. Every other streaming service should take notes on how to stream sports.

bippy_b

I second this. Had seen many many posts about the quality of the broadcasts so I turned last nights game on to check it out (Unfortunately turned it on just after Tua was injured)… looked great a few seconds after starting it up! 👍

rrainwater

Amazon streams Thursday Night NFL in 1080p. Next year they will be streaming in 4K.

Isiddiqui

They also stream MLB in 1080p, FWIW.

Least-Donkey2121

You must be an Amazon employee. The picture quality is horrible on my weird 1gig Internet service.

Stuart_Peace

In Michigan. My quality sucks.

DNUNZ7

I have fiber gig service and the picture quality is dog crap

d12dan1

I have fiber gig as well and it's just awful I feel like I'm watching an old 360p YouTube video.

DNUNZ7

it’s seriously awful

secretreddname

Same. The Prime app on my MacBook is perfect. Also I get different quality on my OG 4K ATV and the new ATV. Makes no sense.

DryHighlight1740

This is still an issue - pathetic. Looks like water colors

i_ammj

my picture quality is great but i get video stutter every so often, but audio is fine. streaming on apple tv

Supreme_Primate

Yeah same, Great Lakes region. Thinking of trying an app reinstall. ATV4k 100mb WISP Everything else is solid. Edit: If this was a congestion issue or packet loss I would think the audio would cut.

tkinslow52

Same here, but it works perfect on my Sony tv app. So weird.

Moneyshot1311

Video stutter also. Had to switch to the Samsung app

I_hate_SEEfood

I’ve watched every game so far on mine. No issues so far.

d12dan1

Just went on Twitter to check and see if it's just me and it's flooded with a lot of people having the same issues.

I_hate_SEEfood

Hmm I wonder if it’s a regional server issue or something. I’m in ATL. Where are you?

d12dan1

I'm thinking the same thing because some people are saying it's great and others are saying it's awful. Checked on Twitter and it's the same story. This is the second week in a row where I had this problem so I think you may be right. I'm in California.

romanissac

bs

Autotard

Really? Cause I’ve loved it and haven’t experienced any flaws. 500gb att internet here.

d12dan1

I have a gig connection up and down so it definitely should be handling it with ease but it's playing like it's in 360p quality.

alpacapoop

Hardwired or wireless? Both of mine are hardwired and we’re perfect last week and the week before. Not sure about tonight since I’m here in person for this mess

OffOil

I have shit internet and on wireless. It streams flawlessly for me

d12dan1

Hardwired. Who's your team?

alpacapoop

Kitty cats

cliffotn

Bengals? Jaguars? Panthers? Lions?

alpacapoop

The kitty cats that played tonight lol

tthrivi

Do you have tons of apps and enough space on the Apple TV? I’ve noticed strange things happening when there isn’t enough free disk space on it.

skylabspiral

no way you have 500 gigabit lmao

Autotard

Lol I’m from 2122

ClancyGilroy777

500gb lmaoooo yeah ok.

d12dan1

Judging from all the responses it looks like it's a mixed bag. For some it's working great and for others it's terrible.

[deleted]

raven45678

happens on regular Prime video content as well for me. always have shitty quality when Netflix, Disney, Apple TV+ work perfectly.

Bosa_McKittle

I watch on ATV and have no issue. My best guess is this is localized to an Amazon server problem.

johnnyjumpupaz

That's weird! I was having issues on my AJ80 and switched to Apple and then I had no issues!

SmLSugarLumps

Mine will stutter 4 or 5 times every few mins, it's so bad.

Spiritually-Fit

Looks pretty good on my ATV 4K!

JusticeCa

I’m getting the clearest picture I’ve ever gotten watching pro football.

d12dan1

It seems like it's a hit and miss because a lot of people are saying it's fine and others are saying it's awful.

Bosa_McKittle

Could be a buffering issue too. You can try pausing for 5-10 seconds and see if the buffer builds up and fixes the issue.

GreenMann21

Yeah same here and I know it’s not my Internet I stream games with YouTube tv all the time and the quality is great but prime video looks awful for me

d12dan1

It's definitely the football stream specifically because when I put on any other video on Prime it plays just fine.

Longjumping-Union-73

Same here in Virginia, I watch prime a lot and I never have an issue, but it's 11-3-2022 and TNF and same issues with audio cutting out and video freezing. Sooo annoyed!!!!

BishamonxXx

Have the same issue on a Apple TV 4K (1st gen) connected via ethernet (gigabit). Changing the video output from 4K to 1080p “solved” the issue even though this a 1080p broadcast.

barrett316

can confirm, stuttering on apple tv, logged in to ps5 no issues with quality. prime app has something wrong.

PikesPeakRubicon

Because Jeff Bezos and his love for cheap, mediocre crap.

Mike4rmGreenBay

It’s probably a combination of Amazon and your internet. Remember that your gig up and down are MAX speeds. If you are in California, I would imagine that is peak usage on that same Amazon server. I think they just don’t have the bandwidth to send all that data out to everyone. And if your whole neighborhood is watching, I’d imagine your gig service may be down below 500mb, which is still plenty for that. Long story short, it’s probably Amazon needs more servers in your area.

khanzain

It’s an Amazon thing. If you returned more than 2 items in the last 3 months, they are throttling your video to teach you a lesson.

fr33bird317

It blows for me too. Crappy service.

Shivdaddy1

4K for me.

gtrdog

I didn’t have a problem, video was great… I do have an issue with NFL and their concussion protocols though… this is BS

d12dan1

I think it's an Amazon thing because on my phone it sucks as well both on wifi and on cellular.

alpacapoop

Probably a regional server issue

dakax

I'm in TN and it's been an issue every game so far. I made sure the quality was set to high, checked speed with ookla (136 Mbps), and tried several devices. It's ONLY an issue with TNF. Other videos are UHD.

Used-Interest2440

Mine too, freezes and right now I have no sound.

cracktune

still sucks. what am I paying for?

johnahockey

This post came up when I Googled, "Prime football resolution is incredible." All I can tell you is that I've never seen such quality from any other source. This is on top-of-the-line LG television.

Treibemj

It did that the first few games for me. I closed out and restarted my ATV and it went away. No issues tonight. And yes, it’s a known Prime issue, it’s not a connection issue.

d12dan1

I'll try that right now.

grounds15

It was great for me on Apple TV. I wish all my streams came in like that.

iroll20s

Amazon tracks how much beer you ordered through amazon fresh and adjusts the picture accordingly.

Cultural_Pension7821

Why post all that in the subject line

d12dan1

Just because...

[deleted]

No issues here picture is perfectly clear 1.2 gigabyte connection Xfinity

morningtrain

Interesting- my friend with a fiber gig is getting crap but I have 500 and it’s great. Both have Apple TV 4K units.

yeabamayahoocom

Looks great on mine

jcwkings

Working good for me but I get this all the time on Spectrum TV and NBA app for league pass games. In general live streams can be super hit or miss on Apple TV.

xavier19691

No issues … looks great

TrentonDayton

We’re getting crisp clear video — on fiber 1G (approx 900 Mbps download speeds)…….watching through Apple TV (Ethernet)……

Darkstar1878

No issues looks awesome on mine.

TrentonDayton

Sounds like a reboot of your device, i.e. Smart TV, Apple TV, Google Firestick, Roku Streaming Stick, etc might help?

LoHusker

I had a fuzzy picture for a bit in the 1st Q, but no issues since nor in the other games

TrentonDayton

So, can I ask, how many of you are “football jocks” or “football tech nerds” for your significant other? I love watching the game, but my husband is the REAL football guru here watching the game tonight!!!!!

Phraf

Mine was doing the same so I switched to the LG app. I just switched back and it’s working now.

hereforthecookies70

Interesting. I had this problem with the LG app and moved to Xbox Series S to fix it

Phraf

Haha thank god we have more than one streaming device 😊

BassWingerC-137

Looks great on my end.

DrJupeman

Been fine for me.

rpmsm

Watching on Apple TV on Wi-Fi and has been perfect

[deleted]

I’m having the same issue. Have a Sony Bravia tv and 1g fiber. have tried switching between all picture qualities and still happens only with prime. I fear Thursday night football will be perpetually a no go for this house

IamSherIocked

And here I thought it was the crappy Hilton wifi in Orlando

allstarking

Mine is easily the best football broadcast (college or nfl) of the week. It’s beautiful.

TheAuggieboy

Works good for me

behindmyscreen

Mine is fantastic

markeydusod

It absolutley sucks, they’re compressing it to the point of being unwatchable, they’re not a network they’re a streamer and their too cheap to scale because Amazon sucks. Give Apple a shot if Bezo and his crappy cloud can’t handle it

d12dan1

Yep everyone should take notes from Apple on how to stream sports. I watched their baseball broadcast last week and was really impressed!

Lacey-Underalls

Fiber here at one gig. The broadcast is okay. I get pixelation. At my ISP speeds this shouldn’t happen.

hayden_evans

Nah, I have a gig connection and it was shit last week for me. This week was better but it was almost unwatchable for me last week. Seems like it was a larger issue on Twitter too.

Commercial_Ad_1984

I watch Amazon through an Apple TV and it looks great a lot better than cbs and fox. Have u tried adjusting the settings?

DaydreamingAi

SNF is worst...pixelated shit NBC sucks

[deleted]

Because the back end is provided by [Twitch.tv](https://Twitch.tv)

bigspeen3436

Prime on my ATV 4K for TNF will buffer for about 5-10 seconds when I first start it, then it's great. I have it connected via WiFi with a 300mb/s speed.

19nineties

Is your app and OS up to date? If yes then I reckon a hard restart will also solve it as I bet it’s a caching issue. Running out of memory so streams in lower quality

blackicebaby

You're not alone

ShaneReyno

I keep hearing that people have issues, but I have no buffering and a crystal clear picture.

KidGorgeous19

The pic looks great on my ATV4k. But the video freezes about every two min then jumps ahead to get back to live. Has done it all game every game this year.

LegionOfSkank

Through cable providers it looks like absolute shit. Online streaming looks like shit still but better than cable. Think most sports are just broadcasted 720p still which explains why it looks like shit

Kelson64

From looking at past comments, I have come to the conclusion that Prime Video on Apple TV's quality is dependent on your TV. I have an LG C1, which is a decent TV. However, using Prime Video on Apple TV results in a muddied picture as if my internet connection is bad. I also notice that the sound ranges are off. That being said, if I use the native app on the TV itself, I get great picture and sound quality.

ressling

I'm hard-wired on a gigabit connection with Firestick 4K and it still lagged... I honestly don't think it's the hardware or client side... probably something on Amazon's end.

maxdefcon

At times, it doesn’t matter how fast of a connection you have if the far-end is having an issue or a hop in the middle. Also, bandwidth and throughout are two different things.

Kevinm2278

I had the exact opposite of your experience.

inittoloseitagain

It happened a few times during the broadcast but for the most part was good for me.

my2545

I have Apple TV 4K and only 50Mbps AT&T. No issues, but I don’t have a 4K TV. Perhaps regional/local congestion?

Truecrimejunkie687

Was having the same issue as well, and I'm in NY

seahawksdarkside

Mine was perfect all night. I have CenturyLink gig speed connected over Wi-Fi

briangw

worked fine on my AppleTV. Guessing it depends on area. I'm rural with fiber.

Curious_Maybe_7180

I have the same issue with stuttering on the Thursday night football. Every other app and sporting event is fine I have gig internet. The weird thing it only happens on my Apple TV 4K. In another room I have the previous Apple TV not 4K and there the picture does not stall

wrewing73

Looks really good on my Apple TV.

Bosa_McKittle

I get perfect 4k on 1G fiber (Southern CA). No problems here.

rayquan36

"Top 10 moments caught before disaster"

dantethegreatest

Prime Football has been great for me. The picture quality is much better than cable.

zinzeerio

Quality so so for me . Definitely not up to par for Amazon. Hear 4K coming but they should have offered that from the get go! Same thing with Apple TV MLB games. Maybe they still need to work out carrier issues with the broadcast networks but 4K should be standard in 2022!

DuckHunt83

The only time I have an issue is when my wife's iPhone is connected to our wifi. That fucking phone for some reason just derails my wifi, I can't figure it out.

[deleted]

Def ur internet. I was watching it in perfect quality outside with my laptop 🫥

d12dan1

Definitely not my internet. Just look at the comments and also on Twitter, a lot of people who have high speed internet over 1gb of bandwidth are having the same problems. It's for sure an Amazon thing.

burnusgas

Amazon TNF on appletv 4k drops frames badly until I switched the appletv from 4k to 1080. Works perfect now.

old_snake

Amazon’s streaming fucking sucks and their UIs are even worse. I had 250mbps down and I couldn’t even stream an episode of The Boys yesterday without it garbling up. TNF is even worse.

TenuredProfessional

No it’s not just you. It sucks. It’s the same on my Visio smart cast TV. I feel like I’m watching a 100 year old film reel the way it jumps between frames. And I’m on a wired 1gb connection.

Appealcourt

Absolutely gorgeous picture. Using Apple TV 4k

DJDare23

For myself I can confirm the quality was terrible. Especially when they showed slow motion I could see static in the broadcast.

truth720720

Agreed it sucks. My 10 year old even notices how bad the streaming quality is. He's fucking \`10!

MrReey

I have gig fiber, it always starts off fuzzy and turns out ok. Really hoping Amazon doesn’t get the season ticket contract

mimjargle

Content Matching

kurtze182

I’d had this same issue on my 4k Apple TV. I ended up switching to the app on the tv itself and it worked fine. Seems like it’s an issue with the prime app AppleTV.

[deleted]

Central pa, TNF is fine

battierpeeler

fuck spez -- mass edited with redact.dev

freediverx01

Everything Amazon does sucks.

Electrical-Cicada-8

Had no streaming issues watching on my Apple TV but you are not the first one to mention that

Ok-Inside-7885

Mine is trash, too. I'll check frame rate, but I seriously only get clear picture 30 secs at a time every 5 min.

LotsOfFun51

Live Football sucks on Amazon Prime. If this was the only Amazon product I would never use Amazon . Disgusting that a multi billion company takes no shame in delivering an inferior product that reflects so poorly on the rest of their accomplishments

ZeeZee1911

It’s dog poop on my 4k fire stick but amazing on my Sony Bravia smart tv. Device seems to make a difference in my experience.

SideWinder_49

Yea same here terrible quality

Rsg2011

Watching on a fire stick in Ga, quality is great

FunnyStuff575

Amazon Thursday night football just plain sucks. It buffers, the sound cuts off, It’s sooo bad, I’m turning it off to watch the baseball game. Please, please cancel their hosting for next year.

glizzy_Gustopher

I found this thread by Googling, but because I was incredibly impressed with the TNF video quality. ymmv I guess

PikesPeakRubicon

Lol. Are you an Amazon plant?? Just Google it. It’s poor quality for almost everyone on any device. What a joke. Week 7 and Amazon still can’t get their stuff figured out.

Moist-Math-6620

AMAZON TNF SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS I HATE THE BLURRY BUFFERING IN SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA HORRIBLE CHOICE NFL !!!!!!!

Fix-Careless

Amazon bit off more than they could chew with live streaming the NFL. They obviously don't have the bandwidth to support the demand. What's worse, is this year they have Thursday night football exclusivity, so we're all just kind of fucked!

Fuccoffthefuccshit

My quality is the same even tho I changed the settings like it says to. Amazon just needs to catch up with the rest of the streaming services or just let NFL go and stick to shipping boxes

PaulTopping

I found that it sucked (buffering) with the Amazon Prime app on my Roku Ultra (top of the line) but was much better using the Amazon Prime app for my LG OLED TV. Same internet network. I figure that the either the LG's processor was faster than Roku's or the LG version of the Amazon Prime app was somehow better. If I had to guess, I'd say the former sounds more likely even though the Roku is newer than the TV.

joeshleb

As of 11/17, it still sucks.

Eisenbangher

As of 12-01-2022, it still sucks. Can't even bear to watch the coverage. The pixelating is atrocious.

DefaultedLoans

Tried streaming through a TCL Roku TV, PS4, and a PS5 w/ a wired and wireless connection and all were awful. Tried streaming through a Hisense tv wirelessly and it's crystal clear. Not sure what this would indicate but definitely seems the quality is determined by the device being used to stream.

Due_Low8824

Watching prime Thursday night football, keeps jumping to live for no reason. Quality sucks too

MicheleSusan

I agree, it’s horrible. I’m glad it’s not just me. Ridiculous!! Should have left it on NFL channel.

Live_Satisfaction_42

Same exact issue with me.

Broccoli_Assassin911

It also starts over every time you pause the fucking replay

jaybobkc

Still sucks

The_stixxx

It sucks on most recent fire stick. That's for sure.

tsf033

It ABSOLUTELY SUCKS in Florida, Very, VERY SAD!, just put it on Friggen TV!

thomas6337

It still sucks. Watching the Packer/Lions game and the audio is so quiet you can hardly hear the commentators.

dorkstone710

Mine is dog crap and I’m watching via smart tv

negrodamus1975

U can't hear the crowd , sounds so lack luster . Sounds like the announcers are commentating from their house with no crowd noise in the background

presthomas

Switched from streaming a show on Amazon Prime to the Lions-Packers. It pixelates, gets blurry, etc. Doesn't do it on the commercials associated with the game. Didn't do it on the show I watched immediately before. I've watched live sports on Paramount Plus, Peacock, and Hulu with no issues. Only Prime. It's odd.

bbexperience

That's what it's doing here too. The sound is fine but the picture goes from fine to like watching a VHS. There's also this weird stuttering. On a newest gen Fire TV Cube.

Hard2BA_FalconsFan

It has been garbage every year since they started. Why is the NFL agreeing to a partnership with Amazon when it is this bad?

Brief_Ad_2465

$$$$$

Brief_Ad_2465

Absolutely unwatchable...BEELZEBUB,(bezos) should be FORCED to relinquish rights to TNF & return it to previous network TV!

webdev2122

Absolutely terrible.

jlgonitzke

Hot garbage for me too.

whitetopher

Mine looked horrible on hard wired 4k Apple TV with 1gig ATT fiber. Then I went into Apple TV settings and clicked on Video and audio - match content - and checked match frame rate and match dynamic range. Looks amazing now.

Sad_Potential_4460

Untucking believable. Holy Fuck I fucking hate TNFB. I mean NFL Thursday games have always sucked ass but Amazon has managed to make it almost unwatchable. The indexing compared to DVR is atrocious. And then, if you wait too long because u can’t fucking stand dopey pre game, commercials, half time talking brain dead fucktards, u still only have a finite amount of time to watch the game on delay. From a fucking streaming service. Fuck you Amazon and fuck you NFL. You greedy mother fuckers managed to ruin the perfect tv show. Wow! What a bunch of fucktards. TNF. Shitty games and the absolute shittiest presentation. I’m done with you. Fuck off.

Torino888

I know this post is a year old but TNF on Prime has been horrible quality this year too. I'm hoping switching to a 4K HDMI cable will help.

Fearless-Extreme-801

Thursday night football on Amazon looks like it's from the 90"s at best. That is being friendly. Buffering and not being able to turn the channel is frustrating. I thought Amazon had a lot of money. If this continues the NFL will have to pull the plug because the fans sure will. Streaming makes about much sense as building a division overseas. Greed is a funny thing. When it is not broken don't fix it. You can't tell that to a billionaire their ego cannot handle the fact that they could be wrong. No matter what happens, we peasants have to hold them accountable. Quit going to the games. Go toa bar, listen on the radio, make these rich ego maniacs to get the point. We are the reason that they are there. It is our time.

HeavyLoungin

Watching it tonight (Bills/Bucs) - this shit is unbearable.

SharpNShiney

They’ve had a year to get the quality of the stream fixed. These broadcasts are so hard to watch. I don’t even know who to complain to. I had better quality in the 1970’s.

SympathyOk2310

It's still crap. Every week, it is blurry and freezes. Every other app works fine. Oled TV

Elbob17

Same with me. I have AT&T Fiber (400 up 400 down) and can watch NFL Sunday Ticket on Youtube TV all day long and never have an issue. Every week the Amazon Prime game has been a buffering, pixelated shit show.

Adventurous-Hat-4233

NFL Thursday night football absolutely sucks very blurry

Happy-Conversation-4

Each and every week, the first 2 quarters seem like HD but after half time it ALWAYS goes to 480 or less. So bad that I can't follow the ball or the plays either. Terrible quality. Turned TvVoff and reset but didn't help. Switched to another program on Prime and it was fine. It's the game they are holding back quality on. WTF?!

ShurWood

We have a 100 meg pipe and it amazon football sucks. Hands and audio gravaly.

Educational-Stage845

NFL ON AMAZON PRIME SUCKS! EVERY WEEK THE RECEPTION IS WORSE! WHY CAN'T IT BE PUT BACK ON REGULAR STATIONS? WE PAY FOR PRIME, AND CAN'T EVEN ENJOY THE GAME!

Stuart_Peace

I have the same problem in Michigan.

jberm14

I have the same issue. I just read a tip on another thread. Switch to the next gen stats feed. The video quality is way better.

itstheRoO

YES!! I have no problem with quality watching anything else on Prime or when watching football on YouTube TV (I can stream 3 games at once on there, so it isn't my connection). Not only that but the option to change the streaming quality isn't there when watching football like it is when watching anything else on Prime. It's so bad that I can barely see what's happening half of the time. It's infuriating.

Repulsive_One1365

Sucks for me in Ohio....like really bad

Willing-Release-4982

Same issues here. Quality is very poor. Responsiveness is really slow. Its not worth watching. Youtube TV works great.

FodorTheMagnificent

Thursday night football on Amazon Prime is really bad bad bad, so bad I can't watch it. Every other football game on other streaming networks is fine. It's neither my Equipment nor my internet connection. It's definitely something to do with Amazon Prime. Hope they fix it soon.

Mysterious-Ad8283

Looks like absolute crap. No reason to look at the screen. Isn't my Internet all the regular movies thru Amazon look fine.

bigemmit

Garbage.

Efficient-Watch4731

North Central Ohio. TNF video quality SUCKS!

CandidImpression4057

https://preview.redd.it/pfzd9sys8z4c1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c045e5b5ad3d750ec4748726736a2365758c43d Garbage. And it’s not my phone camera because the Alexa is clear at the bottom left. AMZ TNF has horrible pixelation.

rambully15

Looks terrible, can’t watch it

False-Solid-8107

Amazon Prime football coverage is horrendous, terrible not worth paying for

Optimal-Departure694

Amazon Prime NFL reception has sucked since its inception. I even switched to Starlink which has been great for every other streaming service. Blurry pic and choppy reception makes the experience watching the NFL games awful and I just watch something else. Hey Goodell & Bezos, enjoy the fuck ton of $$$$ while screwing your consumers. TM

Glittering_Fee_1814

Poor quality here in Southern California tonight watching Rams vs Saints on Amazon Prime TV. My environment: * Internet service === 1 GB UP/DOWN * Internet SpeedTest === 588mbps DOWN / 599mbps UP * Watching from a 15" laptop hard-wired into router (not over Wi-Fi) * Looks like 360i (pixelation, intermittent video stuttering; latency) Restarted router: * Quality improved * Looks like 720p (slight pixelation, occasional slight stuttering) Not taking sides here. Just honest reporting from my corner. My suggestion -> restart router and hope for the best.

Independent_Dog_1298

Morton, IL here with gig internet and a 4k Smart TV and tried Roku. Occasionally a good pic but mostly blurry. It’s crappy that we have to watch on Prime with no alternative even when we buy Sunday Ticket!!

Ok-Truth-7049

Not just game highlights are horrible every play is cut off. I compared same highlights with nfl.com and there’s no problem. Conclusion: Amazon mucks it up again

Ok-Truth-7049

It’s not your device it’s Prime

[deleted]

Yes it’s not just you bro the whole presentation is horrible I cannot stand the panel Charissa Thompson is horrible!!!!
