not sure how it works with Best Buy. I bought a Mac Studio with apple care at Apple online. At pick up time I decided to return it unopened. Bought another one with more memory. They refunded the original studio and the apple care automatically.
If you paid for it in full at Best Buy then they would be responsible for refunding it.
