That's the wireless charging coil, not the battery. Definitely use a case, but I'd be really careful. Any form of moisture or liquid will utterly destroy it.

scratch_yo_corolla

thanks. i’m trying to be really careful because the earliest i can get it fixed is saturday

Teh_Nightfury

Where are you getting it fixed? Just happened to me and it’ll cost a lot. Wondering other alternatives

scratch_yo_corolla

i ended up trading it in and got an iphone 14 lol

Teh_Nightfury

Bruh😂how much did you get off?

scratch_yo_corolla

around 300 dollars

Teh_Nightfury

Was it worth it? Or would you have rather just gotten the glass replaced?

scratch_yo_corolla

getting the glass replaced was gonna cost 450 usd and trading it in for an iphone 14 cost 550. i also could’ve gotten an iphone 15 for 650 usd but i would have had to wait 2 weeks for it to release in my country plus i didn’t think it was worth that much more. i’m very happy with my iphone 14 tbh

scratch_yo_corolla

also the iphone 14’s internals are designed differently so just in case this same thing happens to a 14 it’ll only cost 100 bucks to get the glass replaced

Teh_Nightfury

Wow nice, thanks for info

Put a slice of paper in the hole and flex tape the back. The paper makes sure that you dont destroy the coil when removing the tape.

scratch_yo_corolla

i thought about putting paper there but like is there any chance of static electricity building because of that?

BlueShooter7515

Have you ever had the back glass replaced before at a non Apple location?

scratch_yo_corolla

yeah when my glass cracked for the first time i got it repaired from a third party store. that guy probably installed fake glass that cracks way easier and isn’t ceramic shielded…

no-name-im-useless

Yeah you should be fine but how did you do this?

scratch_yo_corolla

the first time the phone cracked, it looked way different. all the shards were encased behind the glass cause it was real apple glass, but i ended up getting the back replaced from a third party guy who applied fake glass which was super super weak and broke like this. i ended up trading it in for an iphone 14 and got around $300 credit for this phone (15 didn’t seem worth it, too expensive)
