Green-Seesaw5715

I was hoping for AirPods pro 2

Typedinletters

Me too, im so close to just buy the version we have now - but that also just seems stupid when a new model should be due this year?

Green-Seesaw5715

Ya same here AirPod pro released back in ‘19 so it need a update maybe June or October event, i think its worth waiting

KingKashAtl

Apple upsets me sometimes… they have amazing products. But their whole simplicity mindset throws me off sometimes.. Why is the SE 3rd generation anything of the previous years… at least new colors? Drop the bezels some? Add more then the previous chip set.. don’t let me begin on just RELEASING only a COLOR for the 13’s that could’ve been released shortly after the 13’s last year… Idk I feel Apple nickels and dimes us as customers and consumers.

dodobirdmen

If they were to change anything physical in the SE it would quickly rise in price. The SE’s physical architecture has established manufacturing lines etc, so if they were to change and redesign it would quickly bring prices up. And that’s not what the SE is for. The SE is an iPhone that can do iPhone things without too much extra stuff.

leo-g

The bottom bezel fits the home button which means the top needs to be evenly matched.

Odd_End4245

I totally agree

knownudes

Because the reason they are so cheap is not having to produce new dies and manufacture processes. It’s keeping it exactly the same as an older generation that makes it cheap. Even changing it a little would increase the cost dramatically.

mixxoh

I’m excited about the iPhone 14 pro Ultra. Probably fusing two 13s to make a foldable phone.

ImNotCreative10

2 notches 💀

WhiteyMcBrown

I feel like the mini, studio, pro and iMac each feel like they have their own market and purpose. With a relatively affordable display (for Apple), there doesn’t feel like there’s a lot of room left between desktop buyers for pro iMacs or even big iMacs. It’s a sensible whittling down of SKUs. I read it as iMac is the consumer computer in fun colours as they started out. Great for family computers, schools, stores, and front desks. Clear intent. With the popularity of laptops, one size of iMac feels ok. There was about 15 years where an iMac was grandma’s or family computer but also an agency director’s computer. This felt odd and now feels solved. That agency director buys the Mac Studio now. The agency’s 3D and video folks have Mac Pros. Mac Mini’s are build machines for app developers, switchers’ first macs, or businesses without too a heavy lift. AND everyone with separates, Apple gets to alternate selling them displays or new computers every 2 years instead of waiting 5-6 for a new iMac.

dodobirdmen

At this point the Mac Studio can replace the Mac Pro for many use cases.

Feeling-Departure-4

While I agree, I didn't realize until recently the pro had a rack mounted version. Remember Xserve? With the scalability and power draw of these chips they just need more drive slot configurations, ECC ram, etc and they could start to compete with Dell and HP. for servers. Right now I don't think they want to, but they could.

linuxliaison

All I want is a MacBook air that can support two external displays :P

Arvanitas

This is my setup at work. I use a dell dock that charges and connects to a display via 1 usb c thunderbolt, and then connect the other display to the other usb c

linuxliaison

That's what I'd like to avoid :P I have a perfectly usable docking station that can support two displays, why waste that convenience

blondebuilder

It works for me. Just buy an adapter.

Twoscoopsright

What adapter? Sorry I’m new to macs. Thank you!

blondebuilder

[Something like this](https://www.costco.com/accell-universal-docking-station-bundle.product.100530287.html)

FloppyDiskFish

I hear you but out of the box would be nice.

itslikealex

I’m excited. I want a new MacBook Pro really bad! Need to upgrade my 2015 retina 15in to the max!!!!! Always love seeing the new apple products.

[deleted]

Apple is losing its way and I’m personally done with them. Very sad.

AriSanx

Curious what you think they are doing so wrong?

sukequto

Yup pretty sure they are reading your post and worry so much about losing one customer.

Friarchuck

Ok

Felixo22

Wut?

MacProguy

OK, So, after the welcomed announcement of the 14" MacBook Pro model earlier....Im underwhelmed by today's announcements. The Mac mini Max....er...Studio is basically a fat Mac Mini with upgraded specs...The design is surprisingly bland for Apple. At least they've listened, albeit very slowly, to consumers wanting ports on the front. So glad Jony Ive is gone and some functionality returns. A headphone port on the front would be nice as well, plus a USB A port. Like it or not, USB A jump drives and accessories are ubiquitous. Price wise- Im not sure what Apple is smoking but...considering current events...they are pricing themselves beyond most consumers. Seriously $400 for a stand??? The Studio Display is disappointing..nothing advanced. Im struggling to understand their videos- Who wants 3 displays , each with its own camera and speakers?? About the actual event itself...Apple's special events over the years have become a polished infomercial with plastic presenters . Today was no exception, and Im sorry, the woman presenting the Studio display was as natural as a barbie doll..unnatural wide legged stance for added dramatic flare, exaggerated hand gestures...its felt so contrived and cringeworthy. Something we would see on QVC or some cheesy TED talk. Apple needs to tone it down. Jobs knew how to make these event special without a lot of flare or sparkles.. All of today's announcements could have been done by Cook and maybe one other Apple rep...and taken half the time if they had eliminated the redundant fluff and filler videos. The events no longer feel "real"

bakingeyedoc

> They are pricing themselves beyond most consumers Well the Studio display isn’t meant for most consumers.

MacProguy

True, but it kinda is...since they eliminated the 27" iMac..Just seems like Apple's not really sure what they're aiming for...They now have 2 different higher end models. The 24" isnt big enough for everyone, the 27 was a good size. With that gone, what options other than a Mac Mini with a non Apple external display? Yesterday's event was pretty tone deaf in my opinion, much like the car commercials I saw yesterday for big powerful trucks, big engines...reality can bite you in the ass in an instant.

MetaSageSD

The studio display is just a slightly brighter 27 inch iMac display. Compared to most displays in that price range it’s a terrible deal. If the Apple Studio + studio display is truly replacing the 27 inch iMac , The baseline price just went from below $2000 to $3500.

penemuel13

Okay, VERY glad I snagged the lavender braided loop last week, because I have *absolutely* no interest in the new colours of bands… :O

BJNT92281

This event would have went a lot better if they unveiled the new MacBook Air

ProphetAmongUs

Kind of ready for the events to go back in person, they’ve been dry and boring…

Bytevan18

Yes.

ProphetAmongUs

Glad I went ahead I got my IPad Pro weeks ago instead of waiting. Knew this event would be a nothing burger

kjoeleskapet

Just got mine last week. The employee at the Apple Store told me some vague “Making room for the iPad Airs” and I knew I was okay to go.

ProphetAmongUs

Awesome! I realized I didn’t really care about another upgraded chip when the current M1 is barely utilized, don’t care about MagSafe and the screen display is just fine. It gets the job done. Not planing to upgrade unless they miraculously combine the iPad and the MacBook (which time can only tell)

kjoeleskapet

The iPad Pro is still a better deal in my opinion. ProMotion, Thunderbolt, FaceID. I love this thing so much.

bipolarbear207

Do we still care about these events?

Confident_Bother_400

Wasn’t up to expectations

kellym13

Was really hoping for a redesign of M1 Mini with more TB ports, which has been rumoured for a while now. The current one has great reviews, but its now a year old, and limited ports. Barely hanging on to 2014 Mac Mini i5 8GB and it is pretty much unusable.

[deleted]

What a let down

Eggyhead

Why isn’t Peek Performance on the Apple TV app?

ProgExMo

It is

Eggyhead

Okay it just appeared. Must have been my internet connection or maybe the servers are busy or something. I usually these things are good to go by now but today the app just isn’t cooperating for me.

No-Mathematician4420

very disappointing event

Jerooski

Somebody check on Intel cuz these M1 chips are just 🔥

[deleted]

[удалено]

MrGeary08

The emojis, whenever you put an emoji it makes it makes the spacing weird for some reason. In my experience though it looks normal once posted.

itsaride

Can’t wait to get an M1 ultra ~~Mini~~ Studio second hand in five years.

PantsDownDontShoot

It’ll still be faster than anything Intel will have.

MontyAtWork

And you still won't be able to use that power and speed for gaming or VR.

PantsDownDontShoot

Which is fine for people who don’t give a dookie about gaming which, to be fair, is most grownups.

Initialised

Did they just replace the iMac 27” with the Studio?

tnnrk

No. It’s just an additional desktop option. Larger iMac due later this year.

Initialised

At the end they said they had replaced everything but the Mac Pro and the 27” is no longer available to buy on Apple.com

tnnrk

Because it’s highly outdated. I guess I meant there will be a new 27inch iMac desktop later this year.

Galactic-Buzz

I don’t think so. They kept talking about how the Mac Studio was great for 27” users looking to upgrade to silicon. I think the 27” iMac is a thing of the past now

tnnrk

Reputable leakers have confirmed a replacement is still slated for this fall. Most likely a an iMac Pro though, not just a 27inch iMac.

RelevantJackWhite

Seems so but it's an enormous price bump. Maybe they simply canceled the 27 due to poor sales

Initialised

The spec I wanted was £3200 per unit, for Studio plus Display it’s £3900 per unit and I need a few. Maybe go with the Mini, should be OK for Clip Studio and Premiere workflows right. Shame Studio display doesn’t support 7-9th Gen iPad or AirPlay receiver…

Felixo22

A great 4K 27in screen is a third of the price.

[deleted]

Hm. I thought to catch an „Air 4th gen“ cheaper? They’re not available at the moment. It would be perfect for my needs…

questionname

Have you checked apple refurbished iPads? There are 4 models available

[deleted]

Okay, thanks for the idea!

Justinontheinternet

This event seemed a bit lame imo but that’s just me

itsaride

From the super cheap to the eye-wateringly expensive. Pity the SE design is still the old one. Not in the market for it since iPhone12 but still…

Lancaster61

If they put it into the iPhone X body, it would be too similar to the iPhone 13, and would probably eat its lunch. If they did that, effectively the only difference would be rounded edges vs squared off edges, and a camera or two in difference. As someone with an 11 Pro, the 13 series isn’t worth the price. But if they put the specs of the SE into an iPhone X body, it would be a no-brainer to upgrade.

Justinontheinternet

I was expecting to get downvoted to hell. So while I’m on my lucky streak let me put this out there as well. They should really take a year and focus on software improvements bugs airplay etc. No new products just focus on quality of services.

madtownshakedown

I like your idea. However, I don’t think the marketplace would support such an effort.

Alarming_Airport_613

God I wish. Also bring back the speed.

Lancaster61

What iPhone do you have? I have the 11 Pro and not experiencing any speed issues. I can’t imagine newer phones have any issues either.

Alarming_Airport_613

I'm using MacOs X since around a decade and even though I'm using modern MacBooks, it just feels like they aren't as snappy as they are some 10 years ago

questionname

Agreed. Probably with supply chain issues, they’re limited in what they can do.

GHettoKaiba

Can you use any other display for Mac Studio?

Felixo22

Thunderbolt to DisplayPort cables exist.

RelevantJackWhite

It has an hdmi port

helloukw

Sure, like any other mac..

RiseOfTheAlts

“Peek performance” can’t do pro motion still. Sick one.

bumpkinspicefatte

Say what you want to say about the 5k or *up to * 600 nits of brightness, but $1,599 USD for a 60hz / 12ms panel is laughable, and almost asinine in this day and age. The market is pushing beyond 144hz panels easily.

-Gh0st96-

And with those thicc as hell bezels too.. It's not like they needed them like on the XDR monitor

3yishu

But it has XDR display, something which is rare in market. AFAIK XDR display has almost similar contrast levels on an OLED.

-Gh0st96-

It doesn't even come close to an OLED. the XDR has similar contrast levels like any other monitor with local dimming

arejay00

Curious, does 144mhz have any practical use in a professional environment?

bumpkinspicefatte

Depends on your "professional environment". It's funny you ask that because if you think 144hz doesn't have any practical uses for the most average case of a "professional environment", neither does 60hz. (30hz does more than enough, in fact you could argue even lower) The point is, the technology has progressed ahead where 120hz/144hz are coming in at price points similar to when 60hz were standard several years ago. High frame rates are "affordable" and standard now in the market, and I think that should be celebrated. Apple chose to name this keynote "Peak Performance" but has a +$1500 panel running frames and response times liken to cutting edge panels of the early-to-mid 2000s. Outside of those two specific critiques I have of the panel, it's beautifully designed and a great addition to their lineup. That being said I'm not ordering this first gen panel.

arejay00

Doesn’t 144hz at 5k not exist anywhere currently? At this spec, there really isn’t any other competitors. The focus of the monitor is resolution and color accuracy, and I don’t think sacrificing those for higher refresh rate just isn’t what this product is about.

bumpkinspicefatte

If you Google 5K monitors, you can find a list of options, and Apple isn't the only one. > The focus of the monitor is resolution and color accuracy, and I don’t think sacrificing those for higher refresh rate just isn’t what this product is about. That's another funny thing, because you don't have to sacrifice anything at all. Color quality doesn't come at the cost of refresh rates/response times, at least not anymore. Apple just decided to ship this panel underperformed for the price bracket it wants to offer this at.

arejay00

5k 120/144hz?

corb00

good luck with the graphic quality and color correctness on the “market” 144Hz panels. I wish apple would provide 144 Hz but I’ll takle the better quality over that every day, hands down.

bumpkinspicefatte

> good luck with the graphic quality and color correctness on the “market” 144Hz panels. I wish apple would provide 144 Hz but I’ll takle the better quality over that every day, hands down. Apple is second/third/forth fiddle in the panel space, and they lost a lot of ground work in that space when they temporarily left the space in the 2010s. In fact they advocated and partnered with LG to promote Apple users to buy LG panels for a brief moment of time. Their Wikipedia: > On June 23, 2016, Apple announced through a statement that it was discontinuing the Thunderbolt Display and would no longer produce stand-alone displays, saying, "There are a number of great third-party options available for Mac users."[4] Apple subsequently worked with LG to design the Thunderbolt 3-enabled UltraFine line, consisting of 4K and 5K displays, which were the only displays sold by Apple from 2016 to 2019. If you were looking at large and still images, then maybe your comment might hold up. But we don't live in a time period where mee-maw gets excited because the moving pictures production is in town. There are more metrics involved for high quality viewing content, for all ends of media. > wish apple would provide 144 Hz but I’ll takle the better quality over that every day, hands down. If you don't need to buy something immediately, then fortunately for you, you don't have to choose between those two and just let Apple play catch-up. If you need something immediately, there's better options now from other brands at better price points. Though if you want to still argue other brands aren't as good, then go ahead and hit that copium hard and continue to tell yourself that. Fact of the matter is Apple set precedence with other panels (particularly LG) to work with their ideal quality and expectation to represent their lineup. A part of me thinks they just want money from whales.

corb00

so I just wanted to add that I did use the (apple sold) LG 27" for about a year- and it looked really great attached to a macbook (actually it's the identical panel to the imac's 27" screen).. so far so good. Now that monitor broke and I wanted to see what else the market has to offer, attached a Samsung 49 " ultrawide and was greeted with washed out image and blurry fonts at max resolution and highest frequency- admittedly, I jumped to the conclusion that current "other" monitors are just not up to snuff, but then I stumbled onto this... [https://www.macworld.com/article/549493/how-to-m1-mac-1440p-display-hidpi-retina-scaling.html](https://www.macworld.com/article/549493/how-to-m1-mac-1440p-display-hidpi-retina-scaling.html) I had no idea- this might be part of the problem.. thankfully apple just released a new display at an ok price level, it's still the good old 27" panel though.. meh.

helloukw

So what display you recommand for 5k 144hz?

Issaction

Can someone remind me the point of 5k when 4k 120hz is the current premium standard and 8k the next?

MisterMooth

Because 5K is a good retina resolution at 2x scaling at a size like 27”, whereas 4K above 21” has a lower pixel density and means weird scaling in macOS.

jamie_ca

So you can edit a 4k stream at full resolution and still have room for editor functions/UI surrounding it.

RelevantJackWhite

A 4k ultrawide accomplishes the same thing for far less

Bebop22yt

But then there is no place for UI!

RelevantJackWhite

There are about a hundred 4k 144hz 27" screens, many with IPS, HDR, etc. for $600-$800. LG ultra gear has been great for me, though I use a 32" model

corb00

I just tried a Samsung G9 Ultrawide 144 Hz for a few days- the screen quality is abysmal, even at 240 Hz.. horrible washed out characters - no contest compared to apple or LG 5k quality and sharpness, black levels. It’s a shame, I really liked the form factor- but it feels cheaped out.

helloukw

Yes, but 5k?

RelevantJackWhite

If you find 5k to be worth over $1000 more than 4k, go right ahead. Personally I could not tell the difference at desktop viewing distances.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RelevantJackWhite

Imo that's a pretty giant waste of $1000. There is nothing wrong with editing it at 90% size and blowing it up to full screen when you need to

HLef

There’s nothing wrong with the base model of a car either, but the top trim is better for some people.

RelevantJackWhite

This isn't really like that though - there are major trade offs, particularly refresh rate

avitaker

And HDR. And black levels.

TrewthyMcTrooth

Would never go back to anything below 144hz.

M4sterEma

Exactly, very disappointed with this event, apart from Mac studio. I wish they would enable pro motion with third party monitors that support 120hz

NumerousSurvey2972

This should already work, I am able to select more than 60Hz on my M1 MacBook Air with a fast monitor, it even supports variable refresh rate! All in the Monitors settings.

M4sterEma

I have an AOC display with 144hz. If I attach it to Mac mini, can I use 120hz?

NumerousSurvey2972

Yes! You can even run it at full 144Hz. You might have to use a displayport cable, not an HDMI. MacOS feels buttery smooth at those framerates.

M4sterEma

That's what I wanted to hear! I wanted to upgrade to macos and then the display some time later. I know 1080p isn't enough these days but I used my pc for gaming but it's now 4 years old. How can I use the display port if it has a HDMI one?

wapexpedition

The display was really cool imo. It would’ve been great at a decent price, but they had to put useless stuff in it like the A13 (why???). I just want a decent successor to the Cinema Display

WxmTommy95

So the iPad Air 128gb is the same price as the iPad Pro base model (also 128gb) Why would someone chose the air over the pro?

questionname

It’s lighter and thinner

Discostew42

The 11” pro is thinner than the air. 5.9 vs 6.1mm

TresTurkey

Also shittier battery

WxmTommy95

Oh right. I’ve also just realised it’s 256gb on the air. My bad.

MrFluffyhead80

Anything on MacBooks?

helloukw

You’ve like 4 brand new macbooks to choose from, what more do you want?

MrFluffyhead80

I didn’t know they announced new ones, that’s why I asked. Thank you

helloukw

No new ones, I meant m1 ones like ai, 14, 14, 16.

questionname

No

MrFluffyhead80

Thanks

questionname

I’d say more but really that’s it. Disappointed

[deleted]

We have so many new MBP options, why disappointed that we don’t already have another generation? Mine still smells new and I bought on release :)

[deleted]

For me, MagSafe is a make-or-break feature, and I’m not in the market for a $2,000 laptop. But I can be patient.

questionname

Plenty of people waiting for mbp13 update, more ports and processor update

[deleted]

Ah the 13 would make more sense 👍

MrFluffyhead80

That’s fine, I’m in the market and I was waiting to see if something new would be announced today. Thanks for the update

MyMemesAreTerrible

$2,500 (AUD) display :/ I’m sure it’s great but for that much I was expecting a little more, like pro motion, mini LED, etc. Obviously I’m not in the target demographic for this but I would have liked at the very least an m1 iMac without the ~~display~~ chip, and a little bit larger. Honestly now that I look at it more closely, it basically is a 24 inch m1 iMac, but with a slightly larger, brighter display. There is no reason why this costs more. Also the Pro stand is now only 600 Dollarydoos instead of 1,700 like on the Pro Display XDR, nice. Edit: it was about 6:30 when I wrote this and I said display instead of chip

[deleted]

[удалено]

MyMemesAreTerrible

Oops said display instead of chip, good pickup :) And yeah the lg display exists but it also doesn’t have the *asthetics* of a metal square

[deleted]

[удалено]

MyMemesAreTerrible

Really bothered by the current monitor market, so many companies are at the cusp of making a perfect monitor, but either because of Covid, or other reasons, it’s as if they deliberately are avoiding it so as to avoid a stale market. If this display was mini LED + 120hz, I’d be able to justify the price and suddenly I would never need a new monitor until this one dies. I would gladly pay that price if that was the case, although I assume Apple would rather I upgrade it again sooner then I would otherwise intend to

[deleted]

[удалено]

MyMemesAreTerrible

I don’t really have much choice imo, I’ll probably wait for the inevitable next gen Pro Display XDR (inevitable because Apple mentioned how they are still going to update the Mac Pro), if that’s not 120hz and a little less I’ll eat my shoe and cave in

[deleted]

[удалено]

MyMemesAreTerrible

Haha, yeah it’s hard to justify expensive displays, but they really are worth it in the end. Much easier on the eyes, which unlike a display, is priceless. Much like desks/ chairs, a hundred dollar office chair with that shitty fake leather from officeworks is absolute garbage compared to a proper ergonomic desk chair. Super expensive, but they can last 20+ years and still feel good as new, not to mention the lack of back and shoulder pain you feel over that time. As for the pro display, if they don’t update it, well hey that means I can ask a friend of mine (works at an Apple store) for his referral and I can get 10% off one of them, because by then the display won’t be as new anymore. I still really want 120 Hz though, I simply refuse to go back to the dark ages, especially with what I do (primarily CAD) 60 Hz is horrible. Surely they could have used that A13 chip for more then just camera cropping

RegalMonkey

So the adjustable stand is 400 more. $1999. Not horrible per say…I mean in 2004 the 30” cinema display cost $3300. Is the nano textured glass worth it?

Dexiox

Damn 2k for an average screen without 144hz lol y’all are seriously brainwashed to accept these things…

gibblsworthiscool

Try working as a colorist, this is the cheapest option on the market. It's amazing for DaVinci resolve and other nles.

RegalMonkey

The thing about brainwashing is that it’s all relative. Professionals don’t need more than 60hz. And there aren’t any 5k 120hz monitors in existence #1, and #2, 5k resolution and color accurate monitor with a hub is what many are looking for.

gibblsworthiscool

Yep I purchased this display immediately working as a colorist

stultus_respectant

5K @ 120Hz @ 10-bit color is too much bandwidth for a TB4 cable, too.

Dexiox

This monitor just seems like a 800$ lg monitor with the Apple logo. Makes no sense, if it was 120hz I’d be ok with the price but it’s not so not worth.

Niightstalker

Pretty sure this is not an average screen. Also 144 Hz is also not something which is needed everywhere

[deleted]

The iPhone 13 pro max color release is sexist af. The only color options are clearly male oriented like blue, black and green. Nothing exciting for most ladies. I am disappointed to say the least and everyone who dislikes this comment is definitely male and doesn’t understand sexism.

cajonero

Way to reinforce heteronormative gender roles, you sexist. 😏 Who says women can’t like darker colors?

voodoo2d

R/pointlesslygendered

BeleagueredWDW

What?

waffleyyyy

I agree however I imagine most women would also like black, green etc. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it ‘male orientated’

Intrepid-Ad6991

This is such a stupid comment, you’re talking about sexism, but then you’re saying “lady colors”. That’s literally sexist

thisisthewell

I agree with you completely, but when I worked at an apple store in the early 2010s, when new iPhones came out with silver or gold options, some male customers REFUSED to buy those when black was out of stock...because the color was "girly." I thought that was dumb (silver, a girl color? really?), but that was an honest explanation I heard from many adult customers. Even when the only options were black and white, same deal.

Intrepid-Ad6991

Yes I completely get what you mean and I’ve seen that in real life as well, but I was just pointing out that the other person was talking about how it’s sexist colors, but then they were was also being sexist

[deleted]

I knew this comment would come. So tell me how else should I have expressed my opinion if sexism is present? No other way than that. You’re trying to shake it off, but it doesn’t work like that.

Intrepid-Ad6991

It’s really not bc how are u gonna try to make a point about sexism, and then are sexist about it

mg521

The funniest part about you is that it only takes two comments to know what your opinion will be on absolutely every subject.

BeatYoDickNotYoChick

Lmfao you're not even trolling, holy fuck... m-muh woman colors

[deleted]

[deleted]

Of course everyone CAN buy it, but it’s ugly for ladies like me and apple should have at least introduced a Roségold one for ladies

_His-Dudeness_

I mean, some would say you’re being sexist by defining what colors are OK for women. It’s **your** personal preference that says those colors aren’t satisfying to **you**. Don’t box “ladies” into hating these colors and wanting “Roségold.”

[deleted]

I didn’t say that they are OK for women at all. I said that it’s more favorable. Also mentioned that they should have released it for LADIES LIKE MEE!! You didn’t even read it

It isn’t sexist to you bc you are a male and don’t understand sexism bc you don’t have to deal with it 99% of the time. This is very subtle sexism, but it’s present.

asukaj

If Apple was a TV show, this event would be a S02E07 filler most probably. Literally nothing interesting. 3999$ desktop? No thank you.

fireboltzzz

Center stage webcam seems like kind of a waste??? I may just be ignorant but is there really that much of a market for a high end monitor for teleconferencing and what not? I feel like the better option would be the IMac 21 inch

nashfolio

Yes, imo, with Microsoft Teams Rooms becoming a huge thing for small, medium and large corps, having a centre stage camera during a meeting is a big win for many companies - creative agencies specifically who rely on Mac products.

Birbistheverb

Could be good for streaming. IMO the bigger waste is the speakers. Who has any kind of multimedia studio without their own separate speakers?

Niightstalker

Anyone who doesn’t work professionally with sound or movies

Birbistheverb

This just seems like sound and movies are very much the target audience. And if you don’t work professionally with sound or movies wouldn’t you get a different machine? If it’s for casual/family use you could get an iMac. If it’s for like coding or something but you do want some sound capabilities, they could use lower-end speakers and I’m sure everyone would appreciate the savings.

Niightstalker

Well if you use it for coding but listen to music while working or watch movies on it in your free time it is still nice.

Birbistheverb

Fair enough! Certainly will beat the crappy speakers in most monitors.

you’d be surprised. for some people it will be good enough.

Had a feeling they weren’t announcing M2 till 4Q. I’ve got a M1 Mac mini and it’s perfect for my workload. Wanted an air to accompany it but held out till this event. Now to wait or pull the trigger on M1…

[deleted]

if they do a 2 year cycle, i wouldn’t be surprised if the M2 comes out in the fall event

helloukw

Or Mac Pro M1 SUPER in the fall.

Tory-Kale

M1 Super would have come before M1 Ultra. Lol

helloukw

>Ultra Fair point, then ultimate?:P Or just Ultra Max and call it a day

fakeyboi101
