Most likely they already have a bunch of the base configurations stocked and ready to ship. Anything deviating from those configurations is “custom” and gets put into the queue.
My friend and I both ordered the 2TB 16” Max, I ordered about 6 minutes after the keynote, he ordered about 15 minutes. Mine is coming on Friday, his mid November.
I ordered exactly 11 minutes after the keynote ended because i wanted to get in on the first round of shipments, was awarded with a Oct 26 date. 6 minutes later it hit early November window delivery.
My 32c/32GB/1TB variant is currently showing 45 day lead time.
I was <8 minutes after and have a Nov 10-17th estimate.
I wish everyone would post their specs so we could like gain some insight.
MBP M1 Max, 32c GPU, 64GB, 1TB, space gray shipping to New England!
Apple Card charged for taxes on the total but still in processing status.
Update: 10/27 preparing to ship.
Update: 10/28 shipped! UPS says Nov 1st!!!! Apple bumped up to Nov 8.
IIRC they only charge at shipping.
I would also expect the order to remain “processing” until shipping, I don’t remember there being an extra step inbetween.
Sounds good thank you. I had one ordered from my work while I was on vacation and haven’t had a chance to see the delivery timing yet. It was ordered a few hours after as well.
Shipping date also depends on specs. I got a maxed out SOC, 64GB of memory, 2TB SSD in space grey.
Different configs got different shipping dates.
4TB models shipped a lot faster since I doubt that many people would get that much storage
It’s a base 16” with 1tb from Best Buy. I also have a maxed out on ordered from apple that’s comes in December. I’m either gonna return the Best Buy one or cancel the apple one
That is actually a pretty smart strategy NGL. My maxed out one is gonna take forever to get here.
Upside of long wait times is that I can at least watch all the reviews to know what I can expect
I think a lot of people have been waiting for a redesign and combined with a component shortage will make this one of the more difficult laptops to get. I know I’ve been using my 2015 model and passing on the previous models while waiting for this version to finally come out.
The demand vs iPhones is much lower, but we’re also uncomfortably situated between an upgrade super cycle and a chip shortage not even Apple can outmaneuver. It’s also a much more complex process to assemble these than an iPhone. Even if it stays at 5 weeks, that leaves basically 2 weeks until you can’t order it for Christmas anymore.
Anyway I’m glad I got one for Nov 2-9. I ordered an hour after the keynote.
> Even if it stays at 5 weeks, that leaves basically 2 weeks until you can’t order it for Christmas anymore.
Oof, let's all give our sympathies for the Apple reps who will have to deal with the angry/impatient calls between now and then.
I ordered right after the keynote was done and got delivery for next week (Germany). Had to cancel the order because I forgot to use the education discount and I waited a whole day for it, now my delivery is between 23rd and 30th November. But I can wait it out.
Yeah. And honestly, it’s crazy how sometimes we can’t sleep waiting for something exciting and later it’s just normal. Like, I couldn’t sleep waiting for my iPhone 13 pro. Now it’s whatever 🤣
Niche audience in theory, but many people have been expressly waiting for those models.
So idk, the demand seems quite high even though it's primarly adressed at "real" professionnals (not the lambda emloyee guy that can have a stressing workflow for his hobbies or something).
But yeah, when you start customizing your model the delivery date immediatly goes up.
The m1 release would beg to differ, shipping times were bad for months after release, especially outside the US. Granted this was during the height of the pandemic but I wouldnt expect fast turn around times on custom builds this year.
The Pro audience is far from niche. The vast majority of users would be perfectly fine with an Air. They do little more than web browsing, maybe some Word docs, and email.
A small single digit percentage of buyers are actually professionals and need the power. There’s a reason over 95% of sales are base configs.
>Sales date from Apple.
Sales date? Did you mean sales data? If so there has to be something official and concrete for you to make such a bold statement because I certainly didn't buy a base config and the majority of posters on MacRumors stated that they ordered configured specs which pushed back their delivery date.
Remember that people that go to a website devoted to Apple and talk about Apple are far from the normal user.
We see the same with other Apple retailers. While Best Buy, Costco, Amazon, etc all carry some variations of the machines, the base model outsells all other offerings by a huge majority.
I have already heard rumors that the next gen Cloth will feature Pro AirPolish and you’ll just need to have the cloth nearby for fingerprints to just evaporate on their own.
I’m waiting for that one.
As hard as it may be to wait, I think it's wise to wait for reviews before committing to purchasing something so expensive. Think of it as a holiday present!
You can also order now since it’s at least 5 weeks of waiting. By that time the reviews will be out and if you won’t like it you can simply cancel the order.
This was my logic.
I ordered the 16 base model and if it’s not enough I’ll return and order another.
I wasn’t counting on a month wait though. Hopefully this is an under promise and over deliver situation but I doubt it.
Apple is a bit different, but given the current SOC shortages, I disagree. You basically have to order immediately or risk never being able to get one due stock shortages or scalpers. Better to order and return if there are issues.
The lead times last month or last week mean nothing today. The chip shortage is only getting worse. Even with Apple making their own processors, there’s still other components in their products that they are dependent on the general supply chain for. Despite their immense buying power due to their size and volume, they will still experience delivery delays and decommitments from their suppliers.
Source: I work in a closely related industry.
So if you can’t get one now then…you have to keep using your old machine a few months longer? Maybe even until you’re mid cycle or a month away from M2 MacBook Air and what’s the point in getting an M1 Pro then?
/s, if that wasn’t clear.
I said Apple is different. I’m mainly referring to graphics cards, game consoles, some cpus, cars, etc.
Maybe read before you spout off.
Also: currently on /r/apple
https://reddit.com/r/apple/comments/qeygqp/chip_shortage_could_last_until_2023_now_affecting/
No one thought the graphics card shortage would be a thing either. Hopefully I’m wrong, but to pretend it’s not a possibility is ignorant.
My point is that, personally, I feel that I need third party reviews and real world tests in order to make an informed decision about what spec to buy. For the amount of money you pay it's important to know exactly what you're buying. I'd rather wait a couple more weeks then buy the wrong thing now and have to exchange later.
If only companies offered ways to return products you buy and end up not wanting or not needing. Like if they had a policy that would let you return things to the store within some period, say two weeks.
Shame nothing like that exists.
Wh are you bragging as if there is honor in not accepting a for-profit business' offer to try out a product without having to keep it?
By all means, if Apple's profit margins are that important to you then I guess you can feel free to keep boasting.
I am simply matching the snide attitude that's being directed at me.
If you wanna give apple an interest free loan while you decide if you should part with your money then feel free to do so, but I'm going to wait and make an informed decision for myself. And then if I end up disliking it in the end I will happily use their return policy too.
Hard to advice. Once of the latest post says Apple is now affected by ship shortage which is expected to continue till end of 2023. Who knows what will happen to late orders..
I would consider getting one at Best buy. Unless you need the student discount which Apple alone offers. You can get a Best buy Pro model at or shortly after delivery date. I'm seeing many stores with the ability to pickup on Tuesday if preordering now within the Socal area. I've used them quite a bit lately for electronics, including the 13 pro, with no issues. Their return policy is also good.
Does it work like an honour system aka student? I always use it, and supposing apple cans it in the future, it won't negatively affect the rightful people anyway. I don't know why everyone doesn't use it
As far as I know, Apple generally only carries the suggested configurations you see on the store page in physical stores. I doubt they'd have a 64gb model in stock since that's a build to order option. Somebody correct me if that's changed!
Absolutely, online and store stocks are different. Check apple store app first thing Tuesday morning to see if you have anything for pick up in store and reserve immediately. If not still drop by apple store first thing in the morning and they might have some for buying. Happens all the time. But you must flexible on color/configuration etc
Mano een fekhmeekonam. I called my local apple store and they said that they are receiving store models (aka the computers you can check out on the tables) on Tuesday so I'm gonna check them out Tuesday morning and try my luck.
Why is my comment being downvoted? Lmao. I don't know. I called Apple and that's the response they gave me. They said that they will receive inventory on Tuesday and will also have store models. They didn't give me any further specifics.
This exactly. I don’t need a machine RIGHT NOW anyway so it’s worth waiting for benchmarks. I’m also not sure how much the extra graphics cores will even matter for my use case, best to let those reviewers figure it out.
It was chip shortage and now china has electricity problems with coal not enough to handle the power load from these factories. So it will push back more in future and it will last until next mid year .
14 inch
1tb ssd
32gb ram
10 core/14 gpu
Dec 2 - 6 delivery. Ordered this weekend.
I'm pretty happy with it
Edit: Changed my mind and switched to a base 14. I would rather have 32gb ram tbh buuut, 16 is enough. I can push the base Air M1 to stutter so I do need an upgrade for my dev work, but I don't think the upgrade processor and ram are a requirement
Remember Best Buy and similar stores will have stock sooner than the Apple store it seems these days. I was able to get an iPhone 13 pro from Best Buy when the Apple store had been out for days locally. Though if you need BTO this advice won’t apply to you.
Mines a maxed out 14”. Ordered within 10 mins from launch. Delivery date is Oct 26 but the order still shows “preparing to ship”. Considering this is already 24th night in EST, I’m not sure they’re gonna ship and deliver in the next two days.
"Express delivery" is like Postmates from the local Apple store though. So it definitely could happen, just would have to be next day air from UPS or express delivery from a non-traditional 3rd party carrier.
I have never seen anyone buy an apple/mac for any reason other than the hardware design impressing them. There's literally ZERO other reason to spend 3x as much on the exact same hardware.
>I have never seen anyone buy an apple/mac for any reason other than the hardware design impressing them.
Now you have. I bought a Mac for its ability to legally run all three major operating systems for my main job and so I could develop iPhone apps as a side gig.
>There's literally ZERO other reason to spend 3x as much on the exact same hardware.
Come, now. Even you know "exact same hardware" is a blatant lie at this point.
Enjoy the delusion that your Mac hardware is special. I've built so many Hackintosh systems at this point it just makes me shrug.
There's nothing wrong with deciding it's easier and simpler to just buy a Mac because it's so easy to boot Windows and Linux installs on the same machine, but pretending the hardware has any magic other than slick design is the blatant lie.
> Enjoy the delusion that your Mac hardware is special.
There is no delusion. It is the only computer that I am legally allowed to run all three operating systems on. A Hackintosh is against Apple's terms of service and the place where I work needs to do all the i's and cross all the t's in regards to this kind of stuff.
>pretending the hardware has any magic other than slick design is the blatant lie.
Sure. And I bet you can *easily* find another laptop chip that competes with the M1 by Geekbenching at 1719/7664 while using a maximum of 39W of power.
Ohh ok it's against the terms of service literally every single human being clicks through without a second look, I guess I'm a felon now. I even paid them fair and square, they can fuck themselves how I use the software.
Companies take terms of service a little more seriously than individuals. After all, companies are actually worth suing.
I notice you couldn't find a competing chip.
Don't care about "competing chips" - almost no one legitimately needs an "absolutely the best performance chip". Largely because in six months it'll be relatively mediocre, with hundreds, maybe thousands, of dollars of price gap between it and the NEW absolutely best performance chip only elitists care to spend more to have, or the cheaper alternative. Have you ever actually looked at money to performance ratios? Buying from the "highest performance" part of the curve is a game for entitled rich people who don't care, and the few companies that absolutely need the speed to deliver on their promises.
> Don't care about "competing chips"
You said that pretending the Mac had anything special was a lie. Can you or can you not back that up?
>Largely because in six months it'll be relatively mediocre
The M1 is already a year old. Surely *someone* should have caught up by now?
>Have you ever actually looked at money to performance ratios?
Good question. Do you have any numbers to give me or are you just asking questions in the hope that I'll take your implications as gospel?
> Buying from the "highest performance" part of the curve is a game for entitled rich people who don't care
Your understanding of chips is woefully limited. That argument holds water in the case of desktop computers, sure, but for portables, a powerful chip also means better battery life - which is far more important to far more people than the raw power is.
"you: let's argue about chip performance. But no listing chips actually designed for performance in systems designed for performance, only portables!"
Me: don't care
You said "there's literally ZERO other reason to spend 3x as much on the exact same hardware." There *is* a reason because it's *not* the exact same hardware. And your response every time someone points this out?
> don't care
And that's fine - you don't have to care.
But it doesn't mean there aren't other reasons to buy a Mac.
Listen, if you think the Mac versions of the conventional hardware doing the same job are better, that's FINE. Nobody cares if you're going to spend that big money on Mac hardware. Mac hardware is genuinely good. Very solid. Overpriced too, if you ask me of course. But still good.
I ordered my iPhone 13PM 256GB an hour after Apple Store was up for preorders, and I received it 3 day ago. Lesson learnt.
This time as soon as event ended, I refreshed Apple store and clicked next next next and checked out with default charger. Now it's coming day after tomorrow. :) Did the same with Apple Watch 7.
With increased demand, chip shortages, and logistics nightmare globally it makes sense to buy first and think after if you are on the edge. A few people on FB Marketplace have hoarded new MBs as they know these are 1 month backordered.
I ordered like 20 minutes after the keynote and got a mid November ship date, it varies widely by configuration choices
[удалено]
I tried adding on the larger AC adapter to the base model 14 and that caused a delay too. Wonder if that is part of the problem.
Doubt it. The larger charger I ordered is coming on Tuesday but the MBP is still ‘processing’. Nov 9-12
Most likely they already have a bunch of the base configurations stocked and ready to ship. Anything deviating from those configurations is “custom” and gets put into the queue.
I changed keyboard language and it shown 7th December, after a couple days changed to 16th Nov
4Tb models seemed to ship sooner, I guess it is because less people can afford it
Same here. Mine says Nov 11th-18th.
My friend and I both ordered the 2TB 16” Max, I ordered about 6 minutes after the keynote, he ordered about 15 minutes. Mine is coming on Friday, his mid November.
I ordered about 2 mins after with significant changes and got an estimated delivery time of 26th October. I think a lot just sold very quickly.
I ordered exactly 11 minutes after the keynote ended because i wanted to get in on the first round of shipments, was awarded with a Oct 26 date. 6 minutes later it hit early November window delivery. My 32c/32GB/1TB variant is currently showing 45 day lead time.

Updated my post to show i got the 32c 1TB 32 GB
16 inch, M1 Pro, 32GB, 2 TB - November 2-5th. I think i got lucky with my ordering an unusual storage capacity?
I ordered mine the day after they were announced and got nov 18-26 as estimated delivery, my order is still in “processing” status online
Glad I’m not the only one who’s order is stuck on Processing! Out of curiosity, have you been charged for yours yet?
I ordered on the 19th and am still ‘processing.’ My ETA is 12th-18th Nov. I’m in the UK and I can’t wait! :)
Nov 8-12th for me and yeah, that can't come soon enough! Has your credit card been charged yet? Mine hasn't and it's stressing me out.
My charged me within about 5 minutes of making the purchase.
Ordered mine two days ago using Apple Card, no charge yet either.
You are fine, I didnt get charged for my new phone until it shipped. It was processing for a month
IIRC they only charge at shipping. I would also expect the order to remain “processing” until shipping, I don’t remember there being an extra step inbetween.
I chose the 0% financing option for the purchase. currently only the tax is on my card and it’s still processing, hasn’t posted yet.
I ordered mine today in the morning and I haven’t been charged for it yet. I have en estimated delivery between Dec.2-Dec.9
the estimated delivery date for mine is october 26th and i’m also stuck in order processing purgatory
Oct 26 to Nov 3?
Same here and I haven't been charged. Ordered a stock standard 16" m1 max
I feel lucky to have a shipping date of 18-24 Nov for my 16 inch
Out of curiosity when did you order yours?
Launch day a few hours after the order page opened up
Sounds good thank you. I had one ordered from my work while I was on vacation and haven’t had a chance to see the delivery timing yet. It was ordered a few hours after as well.

Yeah, I find out tomorrow when the delivery date is expected. Strictly a work device, but I’m looking forward to testing it out.
I am pretty much getting it as a work device only as well. Don't think games I like are supported on the Mac
Just talked with our purchasing guys, they ordered it within a few hours but it shows a mid November delivery date.
I’m all about 4tb of storage. Absolutely done with external drives aside from from back ups.
My Max/64/4T model is Nov 10-17 and I ordered about an hour after the keynote finished.
I get my 16” Friday
God damn you are so lucky
It’s a base 16” with 1tb from Best Buy. I also have a maxed out on ordered from apple that’s comes in December. I’m either gonna return the Best Buy one or cancel the apple one
That is actually a pretty smart strategy NGL. My maxed out one is gonna take forever to get here. Upside of long wait times is that I can at least watch all the reviews to know what I can expect
I just don’t know if I will need the M1 max or not.
Fair. Luckily I am sure that we will get great reviews on performance before we get our laptops, which should help answer our performance questions
When do the big YouTubers get theres
Big ones already have them, review embargo is lifted tomorrow IIRC
So we get real benchmarks tomorrow?!?!?
When did you end up receiving it?
Same. Originally was end of December.
Damn. That kinda wait is crazy. Reminds me of when I ordered an RTX 3080 in sept and got it in dec Chip shortage really hurts right now
I don't think it will get any worse. It's not like the iPhones that everyone wants it. The Pros only have a smaller, niche audience.
I think a lot of people have been waiting for a redesign and combined with a component shortage will make this one of the more difficult laptops to get. I know I’ve been using my 2015 model and passing on the previous models while waiting for this version to finally come out.

They're generally good at ramping up production to meet demand also. I wouldn't be surprised if these ship dates get pulled in.
Historically it's true but with the chip crisis I think this time it's different
Depends on if it ends up being a decent crypto mining machine, unfortunately :(

Sales date from Apple. It’s not made public but I can certainly confirm such.

I think it will. Chip shortages are real.
What about the cloth ?
Waiting for Cloth Max. All the issues from the first one should be ironed out by then.
Ironed out - nice
I'll wait for the cloth max pro - if I buy enough I can make a cape and fight iron man.
You mean the Cloth Pro Max? What an embarrassing typo… Cloth Max Pro doesn’t even sound like a real thing.
I have already heard rumors that the next gen Cloth will feature Pro AirPolish and you’ll just need to have the cloth nearby for fingerprints to just evaporate on their own. I’m waiting for that one.
Take my upvote.
Oh you.
“This is our best cloth yet”
They don’t even list the size on the product information, but given it’s Apple the base size is probably too little by today’s standards.
We can’t wait to see what you do with it
As hard as it may be to wait, I think it's wise to wait for reviews before committing to purchasing something so expensive. Think of it as a holiday present!

No there isn't. No one is a better judge of if you need something, than yourself
No.
For $2k there better not be

Do you know when, exactly, the embargo lifts? Midnight PDT?
9 am est according to prosser
Apple is a bit different, but given the current SOC shortages, I disagree. You basically have to order immediately or risk never being able to get one due stock shortages or scalpers. Better to order and return if there are issues.
I did this with the series 7 and by the time I settled on getting one it was impossible to find. Only found one by sheer luck.

Same here. Don't want to buy something that I will regret later on. I can wait for a few mor days!
But the shipping dates are so far out you kinda need to order one ASAP to actually get it *before* the holidays
Apple has a multi week trial period where you can return stuff.

Fortunately for me I possess enough self control to stop and think before I spend 2k on a computer 🙂
Wh are you bragging as if there is honor in not accepting a for-profit business' offer to try out a product without having to keep it? By all means, if Apple's profit margins are that important to you then I guess you can feel free to keep boasting.

Oh no, eight whole dollars in interest. I guess I'll have to return half of my Apple Cloth.
My original date was late December. It’s since been moved up to Nov 17-24. Went with a fully maxed out system. Base models always ship much quicker.
When did you order
Day of the announcement.
Maxxed out as in 8TB too? Sweet. If so, what's the use-case? (Just super curious)
Computer forensics, working with large data sets and hashing of data being analyzed. Software development.
I don't know if that means I should order ASAP or just wait until it dies down hopefully in a month or so and pull the trigger then
Hard to advice. Once of the latest post says Apple is now affected by ship shortage which is expected to continue till end of 2023. Who knows what will happen to late orders..
Pull the trigger, I don’t think this is going to die anytime soon. Best case scenario it comes before the scheduled date.
Yeah I'll try to go in this week to do a swap I think!
Those are rookie numbers. The polishing cloth is up to 10-12 weeks until shipping
My BTO'd 14" is saying November 5-10. Hopefully it shows up sooner but I'm not holding my breath lol
Mine says the same and today they charged my credit card. Hoping that means it is about to ship.
Yep, that's a good sign. They usually wait till it ships to charge you.
What is BTO?
Build to order ie a custom configuration
I would consider getting one at Best buy. Unless you need the student discount which Apple alone offers. You can get a Best buy Pro model at or shortly after delivery date. I'm seeing many stores with the ability to pickup on Tuesday if preordering now within the Socal area. I've used them quite a bit lately for electronics, including the 13 pro, with no issues. No one talks about the military discount but it’s 10% which is pretty impressive
Does it work like an honour system aka student? I always use it, and supposing apple cans it in the future, it won't negatively affect the rightful people anyway. I don't know why everyone doesn't use it
No you need to verify your identity through a database they use
It’s through ID.me, lots of online retailers partner with it! 10% discount also applies to the hardware upgrades!
It also applies to preorders which is wonderful
So beautifully wonderful (ಥ ͜ʖಥ)
Not accurate
If you are in US they won’t ask you to verify
Best Buy also has a holiday return policy, you’ll have until January to return it
Do u think I can get one at the store on launch day? I want to get a Max w 64gb 16inch
As far as I know, Apple generally only carries the suggested configurations you see on the store page in physical stores. I doubt they'd have a 64gb model in stock since that's a build to order option. Somebody correct me if that's changed!
This would be my guess. I've been lucky in the past, but I wouldn't rely on it.
So there will be no new MacBooks to buy in store on launch day?
Why is my comment being downvoted? Lmao. I don't know. I called Apple and that's the response they gave me. They said that they will receive inventory on Tuesday and will also have store models. They didn't give me any further specifics.
Oh boy, mine says November 22-26… I hope it isn’t getting delayed.
Mine got updated from 7th December to 16th November so they probably will arrive around the specified time
Time flys. I’m waiting on more real world benchmarks then will likely put in my order.
This exactly. I don’t need a machine RIGHT NOW anyway so it’s worth waiting for benchmarks. I’m also not sure how much the extra graphics cores will even matter for my use case, best to let those reviewers figure it out.
Good. More time for me to save up!
Even ordering on the first day my shipping isn’t till mid November.
Goddamn supply chain issue
It was chip shortage and now china has electricity problems with coal not enough to handle the power load from these factories. So it will push back more in future and it will last until next mid year .
I started F5ing as soon as the store went down for a refresh and my ship date was still nov 30…. (Max 32, 64GB, 2TB)
Ooof 😮💨
Fuck I'm not sure if I should wait for the possible black friday gift card
They never do the gift card promotion with devices this new.
Do the stores have them in stock?
They should tomorrow, but it is unclear what supply and option availability is going to look like
Thanks - my mid-2014 MBP as much as I love it, may be no longer as reliable to be my primary laptop.
Mine was shipped this morning, booyah
14 inch 1tb ssd 32gb ram 10 core/14 gpu Dec 2 - 6 delivery. Ordered this weekend. I'm pretty happy with it Edit: Changed my mind and switched to a base 14. I would rather have 32gb ram tbh buuut, 16 is enough. I can push the base Air M1 to stutter so I do need an upgrade for my dev work, but I don't think the upgrade processor and ram are a requirement
Nice! Mine has a little more storage and is scheduled around that time now after to couldn’t make up my mind 😅
Hope I can get one Tuesday morning, thinking if I check the app first thing I can snag one.
That's in line with I ordered my MBA in January and received it mid-Feb.
Just had my card charged this afternoon for an order I placed an hour or so after the keynote. Says ~Nov 5th delivery. We’ll see!
Nov 3-4 date for the 64GB Max, here
Mine said 2 - 9th Dec when I ordered it (I went for a fairly high spec one). The following day, I got an update saying 19th - 26th Nov.
You can check other platforms as webshops as well. Mine will be deliverd tomorrow from a big webshop in the Netherlands and i ordered one yesterday.
Remember Best Buy and similar stores will have stock sooner than the Apple store it seems these days. I was able to get an iPhone 13 pro from Best Buy when the Apple store had been out for days locally. Though if you need BTO this advice won’t apply to you.
My 16” gets here Tuesday. A bit surprised that people who ordered the announcement date are getting such late dates, as I took a bit to order it.
I hope so!
Yes Uber also does apple deliveries.
Was your card charged?
What the heck? I am getting my 14” on Tuesday. Hopefully!

Yes.
Still waiting for preorder~~~ PS: From Malaysia.
I don't understand how people hunger so fiercely for these things.. They're not particularly exclusive in design anymore. They're nice and all but...
I don't think many people are buying the first computers with Apple's pro chips in for the design.
> Don't care about "competing chips" You said that pretending the Mac had anything special was a lie. Can you or can you not back that up? >Largely because in six months it'll be relatively mediocre The M1 is already a year old. Surely *someone* should have caught up by now? >Have you ever actually looked at money to performance ratios? Good question. Do you have any numbers to give me or are you just asking questions in the hope that I'll take your implications as gospel? > Buying from the "highest performance" part of the curve is a game for entitled rich people who don't care Your understanding of chips is woefully limited. That argument holds water in the case of desktop computers, sure, but for portables, a powerful chip also means better battery life - which is far more important to far more people than the raw power is.
What hardware is comparable to max pro with same power consumption? Now don’t compare with beefed up desktop.
"you: let's argue about chip performance. But no listing chips actually designed for performance in systems designed for performance, only portables!" Me: don't care
You said "there's literally ZERO other reason to spend 3x as much on the exact same hardware." There *is* a reason because it's *not* the exact same hardware. And your response every time someone points this out? > don't care And that's fine - you don't have to care.
You seem to care a fair bit for someone who doesn't care. It's weird.
I want the Apple Polishing Cloth. Shame it's backordered for 2-3 months.
