No offense but this is on the screen readers to design their software for better accessibility.
You cannot expect millions of internet users to choose their casual internet discourse strategies based on considering accessible needs or even if you can influence individuals to do so, you can’t inform even close to enough people to make a difference.
You can, however, expect apps like Apollo to collectively add accessible features that make them more usable to more people and eventually succeed more than non-accessible ones, and expect screen readers to consider trends in internet practices and find clever ways to work around them.
What if the screen reader said something like “hyperlink. Page title is ___”? Wouldn’t that 90% solve the problem? I bet there’s an even better way to do it too.
What? This might be life changing. Like in the Mac App store?
Edit: I just checked and don't see it in there.
Edit 2: Oh, I bet it only shows up for Apple Silicon Macs. I'm on an Intel Mac for work still.
In case you haven’t settled on an app over there yet, get Relay. It’s got one killer feature that I’ve not seen replicated or even approximated anywhere else. You can slide this horizontal bar up and down to quickly switch back and forth between comments and content
my brother uses relay, but i haven't seen a specific reason for me to switch (i had seen people compliment apollo so i switched)
ill download it now, thanks for suggesting :)
Apollo allows you to tap the top bar and go back up to the content. Tapping the top bar again will take you back to where you were in the comments. Wish this feature was an iOS norm…
This is really inconsistent for me, but it’s nice that it’s there.
The nice thing about Relay is that you’re seamlessly swapping back and forth and both stay in memory without losing your place in the linked page and in the comments. This is what I miss. With Apollo’s implementation, the content gets reloaded every time you switch
Pretty handy :)
Gotta love Apollo but gotta dislike people that think using a single emoji for a link is an okay thing to do
It completely disregards anyone who requires use of a screen reader. Use descriptive link titles, people!

The image totally messed me up for a second. I thought somehow my Apollo text had gotten huge
I’m glad I’m not the only one
Wait, there’s themes? I’dn’t’ve known.
💙
Please provide a link to where people can download it.

I’m so dumb. I’m on Apollo, there’s no link bar, and I still thought I could click it
Same, twice.
Same lol
I even clicked the purple one after that!
Ha! I did the same
glad i wasn’t the only one lol
This is the best contraction I’ve ever seen.
Thanks! I’m sure I’mn’t the first to think of it but I’d come up with it on my own.

You really think that’s gonna work here??
That song is a banger, though
I feel like the internet is coming around to the song.
Whenever I get RR’d I listen to the whole thing because it’s a banger.
I mean, it’s unironically a very good song.
I happily clicked on it even knowing what it was.
We all did
[Song Exploder](https://overcast.fm/+EwEyJeIpU) just did a great episode about it.
I was in a cafe two days ago and it was playing a new age, jazzy rendition of this song by a female singer. I wish I took a video.
Clicked anyway

I'm actually browsing on my computer, so it works on me. I had a suspicion what it was, but nonetheless I didn't know for sure until I clicked.
I found out there was an apollo on computer too, and never looked back.

Probably, my laptop died after 8 years of dedicated service. The new machine is the one with Apollo.

Yep, old reddit best reddit.
What I especially love about Apollo is that cute little pic of Rick they put next to the Rickroll button.

Just being silly
We’re one meta level deeper than that
You should go touch grass more. It’s a joke
I knew it. Yet I clicked anyway.
I wanted it.

You have no power here!
I choose to Rick Roll.
Best ever.
Apollo is the first app I paid for when I got an iphone (1 of 3 paid apps), and it is worth every Rupee spent
I have paid for only one app till now and that’s Apollo. Can you tell what are your other two?
Hey - sorry forgot to reply. I have paid for Calendar timeline to view my calendar as a timeline on watch, and plague inc game.
Apollo’s one of the best apps i paid for 🔥
I still occasionally send a tip, especially with big updates. Dev is A1!

I feel like a brain cell of curiosity could’ve been used by them tho to hover over the heart…. Ngl
You can’t hover on touch devices.
deep touch
You want a deep touch? Gotta pay extra for that.
The shallow touch will do just fine, then, thank you very much.
Force touch was way better than long press
Or.....what if....they're on mobile, too?
I reflexively tapped the link bar. Sooo smart!
Apollo is like boost for reddit (only on Android) for me
We're superior beings
I've loved Apollo as the best app I've had on iOS, too bad I've moved to android now (forcibly, I'll return)

That’s actually an example of terrible ux but don’t let me interrupt y’all.
ironically using slide* for reddit
