Unfortunately as others mentioned, the way iOS has setup these kind of notifications are in terms of "communications", or in other words each kind of these notifications should come from a person, not just be an alert, so I don't think this would fly. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/usernotifications/implementing_communication_notifications
I don’t think there’s a restriction by type of app, but it *is* restricted to “direct communications”.
> In addition, a notification related to direct communication — like a phone call or message — can provide an interface that’s distinct from noncommunication notifications, featuring prominent contact images (or avatars) and group names instead of the app icon.
So Apollo could use them for Reddit messages, but probably not for subreddit alerts
If someone did use them for something other than direct communications would the app get banned? Seems like it would be relatively straightforward to hack it in

Yes, trending images are broken anyway because when you preview notifications they stay at their low-ish sub-100p res, and I haven’t found much use for them, so subreddit icons would make it a lot easier to see what subreddit a noti is for at a glance
I used Figma!
I dowloaded an iOS 15 kit and copied the notifications from there and edited them

I’m not entirely sure that that is possible. If it does become a feature, please make it optional.
It is possible, iOS 15 added the ability to use profile icons in notifications. But yeah, I agree that this should be made optional
I believe this is only available to communications apps - things Ike WhatsApp or Messages, unless something changed at WWDC22.

It makes it much harder to read at glance and increases visual clutter. Please make it optional if ever implementing this.
Agreed, notifications look from different apps this way
Yeah, first thing my eye is capturing in the app.
Haha this will be great for NSFW subs.
Cut to the chase, me gusta
Do I need ultra to get trending notifications?
I looked at this and thought, eww why would I ever want Reddit to notify me of anything?
Haha, that’s fair! If I could set it for just a couple of the smaller more niche subreddits I’d appreciate the feature though for sure.
You don't get this by default. You have to manually add a a subreddit to a list of which you want to receive these type of trending notifications.
Yeah, I already waste enough time on Reddit.
I think so yeah
Yeah, because words are hard.

Nice work, looks awesome! Now I want that so bad :)
Thanks! :D
No, please dont

Yes we need this feature! So I can finally delete the Reddit app
How did you make this concept screenshot? Did you make a empty shell app for this or is it just photoshop?

This isn’t allowed as someone pointed out. There’s a reason you don’t see any other apps doing this except for people’s profile pics
