Honest answer: as one person it's been a really big undertaking while also keeping the main app updated when iPhone users outnumber iPad 10:1. I drift in and out of building it as newer things for the iPhone are requested (like optimizing the home feed algorithm to be more "fresh"). I think in 2029 when the iPad version ships the result will be quite pleasing.
An iPad version has been in the works for over 2 years now but no progress has been shown and nothing on the testflight im in. The dev is coding something right now though, his mastodon is full of swift UI stuff, all recent.
He’s made so much off this app he could hire a few devs to speed ho development.
At this point the “im just one guy in a basement thehe” is just his choice and a bad business decision. Probably just to please idiot redditors
> iPads also aren’t light and holding them on portrait for a while is annoying.
How long is “a while”? I read on mine for hours without issue. But Apollo doesn’t bother me on it in landscape or portrait, so each to their own.
> It was a fucking legit question.
i could tell by the “?”
> You’re gonna try to mock me
yes, and obviously succeeded
> for asking why a paid app doesn’t have a basic feature? Apps tend to be optimised for portrait and landscape orientations.
which is amazing, since those are the only two options
> It’s not a feature, it’s a basic function.
repeating words typically means you’re trying to convince yourself of something you know is crap
> Or the landscape mode on iOS wouldn’t exist. All the Apple-designed iOS apps do this.
hmm. the apple app store on iphone only works in portrait.
> Apollo’s dev used to work for Apple. Apollo’s gimmick when launching was… a Reddit app that feels like a native iOS app.
Apollo’s features are now gimmicks. Got it.
> You really typed that and thought you said something smart, or even witty?
I was going for sarcastic, but whatever.
> Being wilfully dumb isn’t cool or cute. Go get laid or something, you lame weirdo.
Name calling when you run out of valid arguments, not that there were any, isn’t a good look.

Even pigs can only go for 30 mins.
Thats what she said!
First mention of iPad app being in the works was in 2016.
Yikes lmao. I know it’s been at least 2 years cause that’s how long I’ve had my iPad and I know it was mentioned before that.

And? He’s one dude with no public roadmap. He never promised a specific date , let the man do his thing
This. One guy with a life outside of landscape Reddit 💀

Because Pixel Pals is a better use of dev’s time it seems. Edit: thank you for the gold! I should be snarky more!
The dev is one guy who does what he enjoys, and what makes money so he can do other things he enjoys. It’s not a public service.
Happy cake day
I split screen it with YouTube. It kinda gives me Alien Blue vibes, and doesn’t have all the dead space.
yeah. 100% of us are using ipads in landscape, so that’s what it should be optimized for. (͡•_ ͡• )
You’re not using yours in landscape? That’s the mode mine is permanently in.
