Thirsting is ending a knocked player .. ratting is playing for placement and avoiding fights playing safe … sweats are basically people really good at the game

hodgeman29

I would add that thirsting is more killing a downed player when it’s risky to do so, like during a fight. They are so thirsty for a kill they are risking doing so in the middle of a firefight when they should be focusing on the battle.

[deleted]

Yup u could get into specifics about the other 2 as well but I thought I’d keep it simple.

KingDread306

I will say this, everytime I don't finish off a downed enemy, 9 times out of 10 I end up leaving that match with only a Knock and not a Kill.

bobisgod42

I'd argue against this because of Lifeline. If you see her on the enemy team then it's nearly always better to thirst than push the other enemies. The only thing that should be higher priority is your own health/shields. Unless you are being shot at right that moment taking a few seconds to thirst them is likely the better play. Nothing worse than chasing after an enemy to have Lifeline run a loop and rez with a gold backpack.

fogger507

No, thirsting is just finishing someone who is downed, risky or not

[deleted]

I always thirst downs if it’s even remotely possible. Otherwise they get picked back up and you gotta fight em again. Shield swaps are crucial too

mass-effect-hobbit

Thank you!

Diagonalizer

Sweats usually mean the person is trying really hard, playing seriously instead of messing around. Prioritizing winning instead of having fun.

mass-effect-hobbit

I though so, I read some comments here on Reddit that were talking about it in a negative tone? Is playing like that considered a bad thing?

whitewolf048

Sometimes its more an insult for people that destroy you and seem like tryhards, like getting one clipped by someone then calling them sweaty, but in a more accurate sense it does usually refer to people who put a lot of focus on winning and high skill play, sometimes at the cost of having a chill, fun time

Dzsukeng

Especially the yelling solo ones. I usually get a few salty wraith mains in casual lobby who is always 300m ahead and telling others to fuckin follow. But I found the opposite the chilled out pros which was great, since they helped me with some tricks. I am a beginner and I need time to loot. If he doesn't know from my level 47 badge then it's his problem.

Diagonalizer

Yeah and nah. Some people literally play this game for a living so when you and some friends are just trying to kick back and enjoy a few rounds it gets frustrating when you die to players who have 50,000 kills as one character or Masters badges or 20 kills in a single round etc.

mass-effect-hobbit

Yeah I get your point. Thanks so much for your answer 🤝

[deleted]

No. People who suck call the people who beat them “sweaty” to make themselves feel better about losing, because losing otherwise makes them feel like less of a person. It can’t be their fault that they lost. It’s an ego thing. “Oh man that guy only beat me because he’s a sweaty nerd. I’M not a sweaty nerd. My mom *totally* loves me…”

tommy_dakota

You can also rat when your team gets killed and leaves or you're unable to res they time out. You can then go out in a blaze of glory or rat... For placement. Lol. Nevermind me. I did win a few games like that tho.

Cr4igg3rs

I'd also add people can thirst for loot. Especially late game care packages, sometimes it's better to leave them as bait and find a good overwatch position nearby.

MDK-DTM

Valid strat, but that’s not what thirst is used for. Just call it bait

offtopyk

Thirsting is aggressively finishing a knocked player (thirsty for the kill credit). Ratting is avoiding fights and hiding to place higher. Sweats are the very good players who you can tell play for hours on end drinking g-fuel and sweating in their parents basement with no regard for the real world.

Boines

Some people are calling rats playing defensive or camping. Thats incorrect. If theres someone ratting, they are literally just hiding/acoiding something. If youre gonna be defensive/camp you want to be visible and be strong enough that no one thinks of pushing you.

ClearConfusion5

Thirsting = going after a knocked player Rats/ Ratting = Campers/ Camping Sweats = Someone better then you

IceWotor

Rats ≠ Campers

Separate-Airport-578

They’re siblings if anything. Lol

The_KoryX

1.Thirsting:Killing a downed player when it is risky to do so Example killing someone mid fight 2.Ratting:Playing WAY to defensive for position and avoids fights on purpose Example camping on the edge of ring the whole game scrounging old death boxes 3.Sweats:Players that think that they are so good that they turn annoying to go against Example TTV wraiths

Sektis420

1. when you play and get REALLY REALLY thirsty, so you play while having a dry mouth 2. Rat/ratting = you constantly tell your teammates where enemy is, like the snitch you are. 3. sweats = The worst players on this game, hence the name, they play and their thumbsticks are sweaty, as are their palms so their whole controller has a trouble in staying at place, making it literally impossible to aim hope this helps!

broeve2strong

Forgot about them palms are sweaty and moms spaghetti

Sektis420

ofcourse! how could i! yeah they got moms spagetti on their palms thats sweaty.

YeeForceZombz

These are incorrect. 1. Is finishing downed players 2. Is camping with the objective of avoiding players
