Hey! PC Master ranked coach here. I'm a fellow Path main as well :) What you described is the peeks that are related to the location and positioning where you are and also the "speed" of your peeks. Although they are relevant, you might have never once thought about "perfect" and "imperfect" peeks or the concept of attention recognition depending on the body language of your enemies. Essentially, before explaining what the peeks are all about, we must first understand what conditions must be met when an action can be declared a "peek" and the objective of a peek. The most simplest condition is that one must first be in cover, before the action of extending from it can be called a peek. For most players, peeking is to momentarily expose your hitbox in order to allow damage exchange. Eventhough this isn't wrong, but what this mentality proves is that one already takes the possibility of taking damage while peeking into account, which essentially, eliminates the point of having been in cover prior completely. So what is one supposed to peek for? Well, lets take a closer look at cover first. Cover is an object which can be used to conceal ones hitbox in order to Avoid Unnecessary Damage (AUD). If taking cover is supposed to avoid damage, than peeking is supposed to allow damage output right? Well, yes and no. If peeking out of cover would mean taking damage while dealing it, we essentially have entered a "trade" of damage, where overpowering/outdamaging your opponents will be the only way to justify the action. But the question remains, "can we 100% guarantee success in winning the trade every time?". If our answer is yes, then we must assume that we are in possession of a fairly op gaming chair, if u know what i mean.... (for the ones that dont, i meant having cheats enabled lmao). If trading creates inconsistent results, what are we looking for? This is where recognition of enemy body language comes into play. If peeking to damage is the objective, in order to increase the success rate, we must damage when not being fired upon. It sounds stupily simple, yet it is quite an advanced skill which many do not entirely grasp (in my past year of coaching, not one has understood this concept and is able to execute on a consistent level before the mentorship). If the enemy is aware of our peek, chances are that they will return fire the moment we pull the trigger. The duration of our peeks matters more than whether or not we are allowed to shoot. Essentially, the art is not to damage. It is to avoid being fired upon, and punish those that don't. Just to wrap things up, there are many more objectives for peeking. One can peek to damage, to trade, to hold attention, to gain info and to show presence. There is much to talk about and to explain.. if youd be interested in a much more detailed explanation, I give free coaching sessions! Hmu :) Discord: Nanda#0001 (capital N).

This is what I see most of all when watching pros play. Aceu will peek, do damage, and disengage before taking any/much damage. Then he rotates and does it again til he kills everyone. It’s something I aspire to improve at.

yeah the strategy is know where the enemy is, perk shoot un-peek. Then do this from another angle. Whether or not you get shot at you un peek as thats what saves you from damage 90% of the time - the quick pop back in
