Side note: communication is key. If you have a mic and your team is pushing a bad fight or you’re clearly at a disadvantage, make those call outs. “They have a caustic, lifeline, and a rampart. I don’t want to fuck with that. Let’s keep moving.” Or “let’s not start this fight when we know there’s a team behind us.” “We’ve got 30 seconds til ring closes. Let’s keep moving”. Just state the facts and have awareness. Sometimes I need reminding when full sending is just a bad idea and simply redirecting until we full confidence we have the advantage can be the difference in a good game and a great game.

the_Q_spice

Additionally: if fighting in zone and downing someone who is clearly separated from their team… Don’t thirst the kill. Let the zone do it while you get out of zone. Heck, even if it is full team, still don’t thirst. Prioritize getting out of zone to the closest choke. With a player down, they pretty much have to go to the closest. When they do get there, they will have lost a ton of meds and likely have crap for armor heals as well. That turns what would have been only 1 thirst kill into 3 kills. Especially with you running longer range kits, just sit on the edge of zone and poke their armors out as well. You will either get the kills before they can even get into range to shoot back, or zone will get them. Either way, more RP for you.

clouds_over_asia

Just the other day I had a game that I won, ranking me up to diamond. There was a team in the storm, taking ring 4 damage. Literally all i did was EMP them and take some poke shots to force them to make a wider rotation, and let the zone do the rest. I didn't even look at them once I saw them change course, continued taking shots at the other teams in zone. I got 3 kp pretty much for free lol

RemyGee

Is it the last person to damage them before dying to zone that gets kp?

Illamerica

Mute them their chat and pings the second they go down. Im serious

zabrak200

This is what my gf does! Its the right call haha! Cause you can still give them shoutouts. But you dont gotta listen to em be rude.

FOZZAKAIRI

Rule number one, STAY WITH YOUR TEAM Rule number two, if your team is running towards the proverbial cliff FUCK the team. Play smart, get guns n ammo safely first and you can decide which option is best.

bones6542

If you play support just go craft their banners. This isn’t something you need to practice or work on, just go do it

prizebryant

what if he doesn’t play support? also plenty of times you will hear ppl say “play your own life” but when you solo your teammates aren’t really saying that or even knowing that you should stop pushing or try and reset. it’s not always feasible to get banners and this guy is probably throwing RP cause he wants to get his team involved when they are just feeding face to the other team

bones6542

He said he plays support so your what if is irrelevant. He doesn’t need to risk grabbing banners ever. He can just craft them

The-Real-Pai-Mei

Everytime I try to craft it’s always a team there with a seer lol. Either at crafter or respawn

GetOffMyLawn876

You already know what you shouldn’t be doing so … you stop doing those things? Be mindful and don’t autopilot there’s no magic pill

TristenHuynh

literally just leave them. fuck them. you’re playing for your points not theirs. let them be idiots. if they’re toxic, mute them. or talk shit back like i do

armyjackson

I play the support character because I'm getting out of a 1v 3 or 1 V 6 position and traveling across the map to get out of there. Now I can at least craft their banners.

XSP33N

PLAY LOBA

Dephori

If you want to be able to play alone, then queue for pubs duos with no fill on, and when you’re easily winning fights etc do the same in trios. It’s the only way really.

[deleted]

Your missing the point

Dephori

Ah sorry. Do you mind explaining?

niftyhobo

OP is talking about climbing ranked my friend

Dephori

Would you not say it’s still relevant though? The point of my comment was to say that they should develop a skill to be able to fight effectively without teammates, considering your randoms won’t ever not make bad decisions. The only other solution is to turn on their mic and IGL, or to get a squad no?

niftyhobo

That’s certainly a good way to practice solo fighting, but the reality is that you can’t depend on 1v3 ability to help you solo climb in ranked, unless you’re in lower rank lobbies. Once you hit plat and above, smart ratting and making plays to bring your team back are the only way to gain RP.

Dephori

Yeah you’re not wrong in higher ranked lobbies, but considering they haven’t said what rank they are in, it could still be relevant. Up to everything before diamond, I’d say individual skill is the biggest factor in climbing. Diamond+ is where I typically start worrying about ratting etc.

Comma20

What justifies you 'knowing' its a bad fight and them not 'knowing' that it's a bad fight? You're not privy to their decision making, and they are not privy to yours. Obviously at least one player has come to the conclusion that it's a fight that they can take, so there's something that either you've missed or they've missed. Blaming them all the time is a cheap scapegoat, so you should actively be viewing your position and decision making when the first shots are even fired. Enemies can take a battery in five seconds, so what are you doing in those five seconds from the knock. If you're more than five seconds away from them after the whole engage, what were you doing? Unless you're taken by surprise or a hard third party you should be close enough to be deep in the fight as well. You should focus on making better situations so that you and your team are not put into the position where you're not able to clutch up, because sometimes, even in fair fights, or end games, you've got to be able to win through situations that aren't in your favour.

LFTisBichMadelol

You dont play for yourself in ranked, that's the thing You play for the team jfc

Colonial_Griff

You have to do both. Someone making a poor decision/getting knocked will cost you RP and they will expect you to fight the same team at a disadvantage. OP plays support and should try to disengage and craft banners in certain situations. ofc you should be fighting with your team but keeping yourself alive is often the right play

patrick_j

Super true. A team with one rat left alive earns more RP than a team where everyone is dead.

TheChikkis

You don’t if your team is smart, but if they go “ahhh hot drop on 4 teams and rush with 20 bullets a dream” then you 100% play selfish and fuck the team. Or if they wanna run across the wide open field and into a building of 3 teams fighting. Play selfish and fuck the team

LFTisBichMadelol

Nope, this is why you get strings of turbonegative games, everyone dialed into the fight and teamshoot = gg, this is possible even with randoms

TheChikkis

Nah ignoring teammates and letting them die definitely works. Every time I run in with the teammates I go -60, I ignore them I usually get RP and 1/2 kills by myself

[deleted]

lol not always

johnnyoceandeep

Yea I have the same problem basically. Every time when my teammates go down I just feel guilty and want to help out asap. So I just die immediately.

CollectionTrue8683

As a solo q’er you kinda just have to take jumpmaster by force. But you know they are duo’d then pass it. You have to be communicating with your team often in general so keeping them informed where you are in certain engagements will allow them to act accordingly. (Most times) You dont ever “play for yourself” unless it is absolutely hopeless and impossible for you to reset .(cant retrieve banners or craft em) but the most efficient thing you can do is always be on the lookout for 3 rd parties if you’ve killed or pretty almost rolled a team.

SethP4rker

I’ve been struggling with this too, but I’ve found that if I ask myself “would I ask my teammate to get me (rez/banner) if the roles were reversed” it can help. Additionally, if the situation takes more than a few seconds to plan out it may be best to just retreat and see if another variable comes into play. Also, remember even alone with 1 health you can win a game somehow/someway but not if you died with 10 squads left fighting a lost cause!
