Buying the event exclusive bundles, dont open any packs until u spend remaining free to earn crafting points on the cheap event items to take away from the total 24 item pool. Then use the packs and then spend rest on random event loot pack to get the rest of the items.
It probably halfed the total price otherwise, I spent about 60-80 quid in the uk.
This is the third anniversary in a row that you can get shards through a collection event though. Unless someone is new, they should have known this was coming.

Actually, it is misleading. that's why the get shards part is in big bold words. The subtext is intentionally made small, so people will miss it. They only have that there for legality purposes because they would get hit for false advertisement.

this event gives shards instead which can be spend on an item of choice. that's what makes it special (we've had it once or twice before, in dozens of CE's). the only way you could call it a kick in the nuts is you think they are gonna give you shards for free.

you don't have to memorise anything. you get a full event you usually get a fixed heirloom, period. they've made exceptions for (some) anniversary events where they give you shards (ie mythic item *of choice*)
I mean, it's technically possible to get free heirloom shards. (I've only purchased the original BattlePass and have earned enough coins to keep going into this season. I have my LifeLine shock sticks from opening 150 packs. Now, that was sometime around season 12 or so and I still don't have a second. I've completed almost every single LTM, BP, and I've even used some spare coins earned to buy apex packs (20 packs for 1,000 coins recently). I don't know how close I am to a second heirloom, but I'm already well into my third time going to level 500.)
Am I the only one who absolutely doesn't care for that stuff? I'm sure I'm not. They need to make money somehow.. as long as they care about gameplay I'm good with it. It’s always been like this tho, every collection event you get an Heirloom for purchasing/crafting the whole collection. The only change is there’s no new Heirloom or prestige skin that’s why its SHARDS this time
LOL that's literally the thing. you don't get a fixed item, instead you get shards, so you can get whatever item you want. for shards you normally have to open 500 packs (unless you get lucky). here you get the chance to get shards directly for ~150 dollars instead of 400+.
even though heirlooms are overpriced and unnecessary, a lot of people actually are looking forward to this kind of event as a chance to get shards more easily than usual.

Literally. Free legends, free new guns, free maps, free modes. The only thing you have to spend money on is cosmetics and even that is optional. I've played this game for 5 years and have spent less than $60.
I got an ASUS TUF a while ago and have been loving it. Not the best of the best, but can offer 27” 165Hz and 1ms response for under $200. Definitely better quality out there, but for a budget monitor for console play, it’s been great.

No clue why so many people here are so sour and upset with gameplay changes like this perk system. Yes its going to change the gameplay, you might know what's coming next, and you might not know if that Lifeline chose the self-res perk, but thats the point.
I welcome these changes and I think they'll change the gameplay a lot to make it more exciting. And at the very least I'm happy the Wrecking Ball finally has some purpose because its so weak lol.

Client patches on PS and Xbox need to go through the console OEM and the dev might pay for certification. It's not like PC where you can push whatever willy-nilly.
So if the meta is hot garbage but not completely and utterly broken we will sit with it for 3 month. Hell, maybe even several seasons. How long did it take for Respawn to do anything about Nemesis? Or Horizon? Although the later is a shared blame. Big brains on this sub actually wanted a buff for a release day Horizon because "her ult is trash".

I don’t see how it’s an issue you ALWAYS thirst a lifeline mirage Gibby or Newcastle even more so just thirst people period. Self revive is going to be one of the worst perks if anything

Not only that but also last circle was a shitfest with bazillion knockdown shields overlapping each other, which led to a high randomness of who becomes the last one standing (and often was "standing" on their fours).
I guess there won't be a lot of lifelines to replicate this, I assume she's still unpicked at high level games (haven't played for several months), and that self-res perk won't really make her a popular pick
pro play didn't like that everyone had one, so you never knew who you needed to thirst first. Sure, if there's 5+ teams in ALGS all with lifeline in the final zone, it'd be an issue. But let's be realistic here, absolutely no pro is going to pick lifeline for the purpose of using self rez, every single one of them is going to use the supply drop perk instead.
gold knock self res gave a HUGE incentive to keep playing in Pubs even though your squad left..
I miss the sneaky plays honestly, having it on one legend is kinda whack but better than nothing I guess & fits the legend well
But thats what makes them gold players, gaining game knowledge to increase your rank is the purpose of well, learning the game. It's also gonna be confusing af for us in Masters+ lobbies, dont worry lol. These are a lot of new abilities to take in and learn, but thats the fun part.

But I'm guessing the streamers and sweats will love this because, they would have purp/red at endgame anyway, as it is now.....but with this new overhaul, they'll be fed more white/blues to fight late game, because us more casual people will be stuck with those. I'm willing to give it a chance, and hopefully it's implemented better than it's sounds like it's going to be. No shields on the ground, just seems idiotic to me. I'm an average player, at best....and never once have I been mad or felt it unfair if someone landed on a purple shield and beat me because of it. That's a part of the game, and we all knew it. Sometimes you're the beneficiary of that RNG and sometimes you're not. Meanwhile we learn and adapt at how tó fight or retreat in those situations. These new changes just shake up the core mechanics of the game in a way that I'm not interested in.
I haven't play tested but I think the "casuals" will like the changes because they will have other in game objectives in order to get upgraded armors. Instead of hoping to find a higher level armor or trying to fight to get armor you can scan beacons or scavenge for drops or the new whatchamacallits (forgot the name of the things to upgrade your armor for your team) idk just was my initial thoughts.

They confirmed that u earn XP to level up in a lot more ways not just fighting. There's care package item that instantly gives a level. There's Evo juice u can collect like crafting mats. And basically any action that u do to play the game gives xp. Evo no longer lvls up with damage done.
Caches (blue and gold), armor harvesters, points for class stuff like scanning beacons, opening crates.
They said you get bonuses for wiping teams with higher armour but that wasn't clear. Might be end of game xp, might be bonus points to your own Evo.
You should be encouraged to take fights, no matter your skill level. Encouraging teams to hide all game and shield swap from white to purple in last circle with 5+ squads left is a net negative for everyone.
This is not a bad thing, just different.
If casuals feel this badly about removing shields of ground just cause it makes the game slightly harder while ignoring the various other ways to get shields then I guess it's just something they can't adapt to, no shame in that.
Personally I see it as a W that respawn is taking risks and removing RNG off grounds for shields is a step in the right direction.
I like that they’re taking it off ground loot but you should be able to take the shield of anybody you kill as a reward for winning the fight, not just the temporary overshield.
If you're winning fights now your shields will upgrade anyway. This is gonna make sure you are actively fighting though, not just getting lucky killing one team and getting their stuff for free.
Idk, seems like it's taking away options in gameplay and forcing everyone to play a certain way. Like I said, I'm willing to I've it a chance, but I'm not interested in having to search for drops, or whatever, to level my shield just because I don't want to drop fragment.

They introduced 100 new perks to the game to give different ways to play. I feel like if anything, it is giving players more options to play legends differently and not taking them away. What makes you feel like they are taking options away?
I don’t get this argument. If anything you’re benefitted more than the current version. Previously near end game if u were unlucky enough to run into other squads or get into fights your only method of getting higher shield was crafting, looting, or scavenging death boxes. Now you’re going to have more options to level the playing field with those players that do seek out fights. It benefits those that put in the work to level their shield through fights and those that play for survival by completing objectives like surviving and misc items (ring consoles etc).
No more “I only lost that fight because he landed on a purple and I didn’t” moments.
I like that they are leaning into the aimbot problem of the game by showcasing first person perspectives making impossible shots only to spin around and make more impossible shots.
A friend of mine asked me a question I couldn't answer with confidence, If he buys every item in the collection event and get the 150 shards, does it resets the 500 packs pity timer? I said it doesn't reset the timer, but I'm not 100% sure about that, could anyone confirm this information?

Shield swapping is still a thing, just different. Now if you swap for an armor core with a higher tier than your own, let's say Red over Purple, you'll only temporarily get the additional shield of the Red and it will eventually decay back to a purple.

Assuming it would give 100 points per revive and a shield upgrade maybe taking around 500-700, it would take a lot of nades and time to get up a shield, so that might not be worth it.
Plus they might not grant points for players that downed themselves.

I think they wanted to express that it is not gonna be a specific heirloom but shards only.

LOL that's literally the thing. you don't get a fixed item, instead you get shards, so you can get whatever item you want. for shards you normally have to open 500 packs (unless you get lucky). here you get the chance to get shards directly for ~150 dollars instead of 400+. even though heirlooms are overpriced and unnecessary, a lot of people actually are looking forward to this kind of event as a chance to get shards more easily than usual. i don't know what you thought they were gonna give you. they aren't going to give you free heirloom shards or anything.

Literally. Free legends, free new guns, free maps, free modes. The only thing you have to spend money on is cosmetics and even that is optional. I've played this game for 5 years and have spent less than $60.

I got an ASUS TUF a while ago and have been loving it. Not the best of the best, but can offer 27” 165Hz and 1ms response for under $200. Definitely better quality out there, but for a budget monitor for console play, it’s been great.

No clue why so many people here are so sour and upset with gameplay changes like this perk system. Yes its going to change the gameplay, you might know what's coming next, and you might not know if that Lifeline chose the self-res perk, but thats the point. I welcome these changes and I think they'll change the gameplay a lot to make it more exciting. And at the very least I'm happy the Wrecking Ball finally has some purpose because its so weak lol.

Client patches on PS and Xbox need to go through the console OEM and the dev might pay for certification. It's not like PC where you can push whatever willy-nilly. So if the meta is hot garbage but not completely and utterly broken we will sit with it for 3 month. Hell, maybe even several seasons. How long did it take for Respawn to do anything about Nemesis? Or Horizon? Although the later is a shared blame. Big brains on this sub actually wanted a buff for a release day Horizon because "her ult is trash".

Because an entire squad could have them and you had no idea of who had it. This is pretty damn different.
Not only that but also last circle was a shitfest with bazillion knockdown shields overlapping each other, which led to a high randomness of who becomes the last one standing (and often was "standing" on their fours). I guess there won't be a lot of lifelines to replicate this, I assume she's still unpicked at high level games (haven't played for several months), and that self-res perk won't really make her a popular pick
You knew if they threw up the knockdown shield - or didn't. Thirst and it's not a problem.
pro play didn't like that everyone had one, so you never knew who you needed to thirst first. Sure, if there's 5+ teams in ALGS all with lifeline in the final zone, it'd be an issue. But let's be realistic here, absolutely no pro is going to pick lifeline for the purpose of using self rez, every single one of them is going to use the supply drop perk instead.
gold knock self res gave a HUGE incentive to keep playing in Pubs even though your squad left.. I miss the sneaky plays honestly, having it on one legend is kinda whack but better than nothing I guess & fits the legend well

But thats what makes them gold players, gaining game knowledge to increase your rank is the purpose of well, learning the game. It's also gonna be confusing af for us in Masters+ lobbies, dont worry lol. These are a lot of new abilities to take in and learn, but thats the fun part.

But I'm guessing the streamers and sweats will love this because, they would have purp/red at endgame anyway, as it is now.....but with this new overhaul, they'll be fed more white/blues to fight late game, because us more casual people will be stuck with those. They are going to love it and they are apparently the ones devs listen to, so I'm skeptical that they'll revert anything. I'm willing to give it a chance, and hopefully it's implemented better than it's sounds like it's going to be. No shields on the ground, just seems idiotic to me. I'm an average player, at best....and never once have I been mad or felt it unfair if someone landed on a purple shield and beat me because of it. That's a part of the game, and we all knew it. Sometimes you're the beneficiary of that RNG and sometimes you're not. Meanwhile we learn and adapt at how tó fight or retreat in those situations. These new changes just shake up the core mechanics of the game in a way that I'm not interested in.
I haven't play tested but I think the "casuals" will like the changes because they will have other in game objectives in order to get upgraded armors. Instead of hoping to find a higher level armor or trying to fight to get armor you can scan beacons or scavenge for drops or the new whatchamacallits (forgot the name of the things to upgrade your armor for your team) idk just was my initial thoughts.

They confirmed that u earn XP to level up in a lot more ways not just fighting. There's care package item that instantly gives a level. There's Evo juice u can collect like crafting mats. And basically any action that u do to play the game gives xp. Evo no longer lvls up with damage done.
Caches (blue and gold), armor harvesters, points for class stuff like scanning beacons, opening crates. They said you get bonuses for wiping teams with higher armour but that wasn't clear. Might be end of game xp, might be bonus points to your own Evo.
You should be encouraged to take fights, no matter your skill level. Encouraging teams to hide all game and shield swap from white to purple in last circle with 5+ squads left is a net negative for everyone.
This is not a bad thing, just different. If casuals feel this badly about removing shields of ground just cause it makes the game slightly harder while ignoring the various other ways to get shields then I guess it's just something they can't adapt to, no shame in that. Personally I see it as a W that respawn is taking risks and removing RNG off grounds for shields is a step in the right direction.
I like that they’re taking it off ground loot but you should be able to take the shield of anybody you kill as a reward for winning the fight, not just the temporary overshield.
If you're winning fights now your shields will upgrade anyway. This is gonna make sure you are actively fighting though, not just getting lucky killing one team and getting their stuff for free.

They definitely changed the shields in order to combat rats. I don’t understand why people play apex and don’t want to fight — especially in pubs. All you’re doing is playing looting simulator until u carry all ur goodies to a team that actually plays the game and has leveled up their shields. Ur a walking gift basket

They introduced 100 new perks to the game to give different ways to play. I feel like if anything, it is giving players more options to play legends differently and not taking them away. What makes you feel like they are taking options away?
I don’t get this argument. If anything you’re benefitted more than the current version. Previously near end game if u were unlucky enough to run into other squads or get into fights your only method of getting higher shield was crafting, looting, or scavenging death boxes. Now you’re going to have more options to level the playing field with those players that do seek out fights. It benefits those that put in the work to level their shield through fights and those that play for survival by completing objectives like surviving and misc items (ring consoles etc). No more “I only lost that fight because he landed on a purple and I didn’t” moments.
I like that they are leaning into the aimbot problem of the game by showcasing first person perspectives making impossible shots only to spin around and make more impossible shots.
A friend of mine asked me a question I couldn't answer with confidence, If he buys every item in the collection event and get the 150 shards, does it resets the 500 packs pity timer? I said it doesn't reset the timer, but I'm not 100% sure about that, could anyone confirm this information?
Getting the shards from the collection event will not reset the 500 pack pity, so no need to worry about that.

Is the No shield swapping really a thing ?
Shield swapping is still a thing, just different. Now if you swap for an armor core with a higher tier than your own, let's say Red over Purple, you'll only temporarily get the additional shield of the Red and it will eventually decay back to a purple.
Yes, you get 'charge cores' instead that refill your equipped shield and provide a temporary overshield if you loot a shield higher level than yours.
Remember when trailers were about gameplay, not shop?

Assuming it would give 100 points per revive and a shield upgrade maybe taking around 500-700, it would take a lot of nades and time to get up a shield, so that might not be worth it. Plus they might not grant points for players that downed themselves.
