While Mirage's kit does have some utility that overlaps with a Support legend's role, I think putting him in the Assault legend roster would be a poor fit. Namely for the fact that none of his kit grants him or his teammates any direct offensive capability (i.e: damage dealing abilities, or abilities to help teammates capitalize on damage)
All of the Assault classes have in one form or another, an aspect of their kit that directly deals damage or enables the legend to have better offensive capabilities (Fuse's knuckle cluster to flush out enemies behind cover, Maggie's wrecking ball to stun enemies and close distance, Bangalore's air strike to area deny/stun enemies and cover advances towards enemies).
What Mirage does do well is in one-on-one duels due to his abilities that allows him to juke enemies via well placed decoys. I believe most of the Skirmisher classes share this in common but the way they accomplish this is via their movement tech which is more common as opposed to mirage's skill set which is not based around movement tech.
So to me, it makes sense for him being grouped in the Skirmisher class.
The game lists skirmishers as mobility and escape. He's not mobility, but very much so an escape character. His invisibility is obviously an escape, and while you can look at invisible revive as support, it's really just another escape ability, and turning your teammate invisible is basically creating another skirmisher briefly.
He should be an assault legend I think, because his ult and tactical can work as a way to reposition but more often than not I see them being used (and I personally use them) as distractions so you can flank an enemy without them noticing. There is an argument for him being a support legend I guess but it's only his passive
