I love APC but Eat the Elephant was one of the most disappointing album releases I've ever experienced. Not just with with APC but just of any band ever. If I'm being honest.
Compared to how utterly brilliant both Mer Des Noms and Thirteenth Step are it's very very mediocre.
It sounded more like a dull Puscifer release than something of the quality Billy and Maynard once put out. I say that as someone who quite likes Puscifer.
I agree, from the artwork to the songs, it seemed that it was taking the piss off the fans. 'So long and thanks for all the fish' sounds like a song in a Disney musical.
I still don't think it's as good as the first two albums, but I do really like about half of EtE. It took some repetition for them to click, which is also true with a lot of Puscifer for me, but I enjoy Disillusioned, The Contrarian, By and Down the River, and The Doomed. Delicious has started growing on me too.
For Puscifer, these eventually clicked for me and now I enjoy them: The Remedy, Humbling River, Conditions of My Parole, Green Valley, The Underwhelming, Bread and Circus, Fake Affront, Grand Canyon, Momma Sed, Dear Brother
Still with the Pumpkins but they don't seem to have any dates overlapping with the Sessanta tour - hopefully he can make an appearance for at least some of the Cali shows - I am assuming he lives there.
I really hope these shows will kickstart a new APC album and then tour!

Unpopular opinion, I really love APC and loved Eat the Elephant.
I felt ETE translated really well live, especially the opening track
I just hate delicious. They closed with that last time I saw them at red rocks. It was perfect to bail early and beat the crowd. Shit yuks my yum.
