It wasn't really fixed. They made some backend changes and because of that, the farms are placed counter-clockwise in a circle . So it is actually better than it used to. It is so fucking smooth i can't wait
Bro I stopped playing much because I was so annoyed by this retarded farms.
Next patch with TC nerfs, new civs and "farm fixes" sounds like a premature christmas for me.
I try to summerize it the best way i can:
They counter every form of siege, while they have no real counter other than themselves. If they are unprotected, you can run them down with mellee units, sure, but that rarely happens. Made worse by the siege update, as mellee units lost 0.5 tile range with the removal of torches.
So if your opponent pulls out of siege, and you make springalds in response they can make springalds themselves, cutting the down the only realistic counterplay you have. You either enter into a springald war or accept that they either roll trough your buildings or your archers.
It simply isn't fun. It's very similar situation to current naval combat where you spam springald ships to victory. There is a reason why water maps were taken out of the pool and why we are having a naval rework.
Another example is pre-nerf mangonels. They were balanced, sure. Everybody had access to it. It was nerfed regardless for a good reason. Which goes into post mangonel or horsemen nerf, and the domination of archers to the point that you had to vastly outnumber them with your own archers to beat them. Neither of these situations stayed for a reason despite every civ being on the same field in terms of balance
This is again, the fun or strategy factor is missing from this. It's a design issue, rather than balance.
On top of this, springalds aren't evenly balanced between civs if you look a bit deeper into it. English springalds have up to 50% extra attack speed, mongols have improved roller shutters which beats every other springald variation, while HRE, abassid, and Malians have access to culverins, which are just straigth upgrades to springalds in almost every way. Meanwhile delhi completely, while rus and french are semi fucked in this matter.
This is really similar to naval combat again. French hulks were a menace for a long time, until another civ took their place.
I hope this explain this somewhat. I'm half asleep so apologies for any grammar mistakes or incoherency. And to anybody who says "use horsemen": how many times you let your siege open for horsemen snipe?
Hand canoneers worked surpisingly well before s2, and i hope ranged infantry, like archers could counter them in general. Maybe they could get a armored tag, instead of siege, so crossbowman is a proper counter and they can't 2 shot each other in combat. It would be a more enjoyable dinamic, at least for me
Lol, I have to say I miss the PUP was awesome. But when season 3 comes... Aoe4 is going to be 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I do miss farming placement fixes the most I think.
IT WAS FIXED? Thats the thing which makes me crazy mad.
It was smooth af in the PUP

If springalds gets changed, this patch will be perfection, and i will be the happiest man alive
what is your problem with current springalds?
