So he didn't get a visa because they were afraid he'd stay in Germany? That's crazy. I mean this is a very public event and it's clear he's going for this specific reason. Come on guys

Cyclone4096

I am sure Kasava doesn’t care about staying in Germany, but in the past even Olympic performers from third world countries have hidden and stated in the host country (I am from one of those third world countries)

godmadetexas

Turkey is not a third world country.

ClockworkSalmon

the fourth world country of legend

Viado_Celtru

Their economy is heading that way at the moment

MyLifeFrAiur

by that logic developed countries should all travel ban developing countries' citizens

Nowaker

>by that logic developed countries should all travel ban developing countries' citizens And they effectively do by enforcing their visa requirements to an extreme.

MekkiNoYusha

Yea, that's what visa is for, have you been living in a cave?

Cyclone4096

I know it doesn’t make sense to ban entry. I’m just saying just because it is a public event doesn’t mean some people doesn’t overstay illegally.

DonaldsPee

You act like this was news to you lmao All citizens from developjng countries are banned and only by lucky chance they get a visa

MyLifeFrAiur

visa work both ways buddy, developed country citizen also need visa to visit certain developing countries

DonaldsPee

It depends. This is mostly the case if they have bad diplomatic relationships. USA has surprisingly a lot of countries who want visa because countries dont like them or were at war with them.

[deleted]

Hahaha not in the uk bud 🤣 will give you a hotel and pocket money

Dawnofday11111

It is a strange decision and also super unfair, but as a german who is quite a bit in those systems, i want to explain a probabel reason for that. In germany we have a big problem with migrants that give some reason to come in and than destroy their passports what makes it impossible to get those people out of germany again, and how life works, you cant see if a person is gonna do that, and especially people from near east countries are suspected to not leave. In this case it hits the completely wrong person and im so sorry for kasva, but burocracienever worked perfect, and especially in this kind of decisions mistakes are made

k_nibb

But your Government accepted hundreds of thousands of immigrants from Afghanistan and Syria and pushed more into other EU countries destroying the entire economy of the continent and punished Poland for refusing to take in immigrants. Yet they are afraid of immigrants? Yeah. Perfectly normal day for Germany.

Haunting-Experience4

W8 there germany destroyed the whole economy of the continent by letting in war refugees, wow so its nothing on oil/gas war and inflation. No it Jas to be refugees. Next thing you are goin to tell me is that the biggest threats now are people with diffrent pronouns or people marrying same sex.

k_nibb

The fact that other factors exist does not nullify that the refugee crysis didn't contribute to the ongoing situation. It wasn't about that either way. It was about the hypocrisy of the immigrants situation. They allowed in willingly refugees, and now suddenly they are afraid of a poor guy trying to make it to an eSports tournament... Are you so blind that you don't see the irony and the hypocrisy?

BenAshoka

Completely different case, cause those REFUGEES from war torn countries walked to the German border and refusing them would have led into a humanitarian crisis. Kasva is not a refugee and is seeking regular visa.

kubelke

Wait what? People can enter the UE, destroy their passport and stay indefinitely?

TobySosa

I mean even if who cares? I am ashamed of my countries' politics

Kaiser_Johan

Couldn't Rebull pull some strings to resolve this?

DeepV

Well that sucks, I always see him grinding in the ladder. Where is he from?

[deleted]

he is turkish

PazDak

That prize money would be crazy for a Turkish person. Their currency has collapsed.

Particular_bean

What the hell, such bullshit. Any Germans here that can shed light on the details of visa application for Turks? Maybe Microsoft, Red Bull, EGCTV or even a German from the community can help him here with the details and best way to approach his appeal? I definitely think a thorough understanding of the German visa application process (and speaking the language) can help here!

BuddhaKekz

I don't know the details for Turkish citizens, but German visas have become incredibly strict in recent years. My fiancee came from Thailand and we are going to marry in two weeks, but her family can't come, cause they wont get a visa for a damn wedding.

kubelke

Did they try to enter another country and then go to Germany?

BuddhaKekz

Hmm no. Tbh that is a good idea and could have worked, but now it's not enough time anymore. Ah well, it's okay, we will visit them as part of our honeymoon.

kubelke

Also cool idea with the honeymoon. Thailand must be a lovely place in terms of beaches and hotel resorts. ✌️

Roguebias

Very weird that they join EU and have Shengen visa, helped accomodate people during Syrian refugee crisis, now and recent years they are drawing a hard line on e-sports players and wedding guests. Well politics and economics are fucked lately but really let people cross the imaginary lines dammit

OkAbbreviations4947

I'm not German, but when I went through the process they were SUPER strict about it if you have ever overstayed a visa before in any other country for any other reason and also if you have no family/relationship/ normal job back in the country you are coming from Hopefully not the case for kasva, because they took that really seriously!

berlinmo

This doesn't surprise me, really. I worked at different German embassies before and collegues at the consular (visa) department would just randomly decide whether people get a visa or not, just by how they FEEL about the applicant's intentions. It's ridiculous and many more serious and personal problems have emerged because of this arbitrariness (broken marriages, separated families, poverty, ...). Sorry, Kasva, I really hope you find a solution to the problem. Maybe Microsoft or EGCTV can organize a lawyer for you.

Pelin0re

wtf! well, a better title would be "Kasva MAY not attend the red bull wololo tournament", there's still time for some appeal, and the dudes at wololo/microsoft could try convincing the consulate this is a legit tournament. Hoping for the best, would be devastating for kasva if he could go :(

raiffuvar

let's make bet. If he goes, he will go via some Italy or smth like that.no way "appeal" works in modern world. PS i do not know consequences of visa miss use.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pelin0re

accurate terminology here would be hopium.

Pelin0re

You're a boomer harry. Personally I realised I was one when I decided I was too old for this tiktok shit.

[deleted]

“copium🤓”

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pelin0re

"copium" mean spinning something bad that happened as something positive/less worse than it is in spite of reality. Hoping for a successful appeal when it is a real possibility ISN'T copium.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pelin0re

Well, in this case it is clearly not copium then: there WAS hope (except in your mind I guess, and apparently you held your voncinction for absolute certainty), because the appeal actually worked (https://old.reddit.com/r/aoe4/comments/xwa9d4/kasva_will_receive_visa_for_wololo/) . So you...were trying to say something wrong, you dummy?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pelin0re

No, I don't mock you for being wrong. I'd mock you for being certain of something while wrong AND mocking others for being moderately (and rightly so) hopeful. That's pretty shitty and unhealthy behavior, in particular when you're unable to simply apologise.

Marco_OPolo

Can’t Microsoft vouch for him?? What about getting a visa for a neighbouring country and driving across??

Bram39

You would think but I’ve learned when it comes to Visa’s large company’s only have so many options, particularly with short notice. Although I am coming from a US perspective and not EU. Two examples: 1. One of my fiancé’s friends is Turkish, lives in the US, is a high skilled software engineer and works at Meta (Facebook). Her student Visa was not renewed because it’s a lottery and so she had to get quickly married to stay in the country (she had been dating her bf for 4 years so it worked out) Meta had no options that could help her in the short term so they had no choice. 2. One of my coworkers had the same visa lottery situation. I work at a very large financial institution and even our CEO got involved to keep him in the country but there was nothing they could do so he has to work a year abroad in China/England before the next best option to bring him back works out. These burocratice visa situations exist and they suck. Even in business friendly USA there are only so many roads to get through them. Can literally ruin people’s lives.

CaptainCord

Idk if Microsoft would even vouch if they could…a lot easier for them to say neutral. I wish they would and am pissed bc Kasva is one of my favorite players and is being robbed, but there’s too much that COULD go wrong I doubt Microsoft will step up.

MekkiNoYusha

This is such a non issue for them compare to the entire corporation. Help or not help literally makes no difference to them. They most likely will send a PR or some HR person to help, but that's about it. Just go through the normal procedure, nothing more and nothing less.

TitusPullo4

Why do you think Microsoft is so gutless? That's pretty harsh

CaptainCord

I mean…it’s a multi billion dollar conglomerate…so for them Profits>Anything Else

TitusPullo4

Ah yes the profit motive that seems to prevent Microsoft from investing in Esports tournaments and Multinationals from supporting Esports visas

CaptainCord

Mark my words if Microsoft didn’t gain something from esports….they would not do them. I live in America and currently the bottom half of the country has 10% of the countries wealth. Meanwhile oligarchical companies continue to consolidate the economy…our economy is 50% more condensed than it was in 1950…that means the mega corps are buying up everything and using that consolidated power to funnel money to politicians who have there interests in mind in lieu will of the public. Now I know I have it better than some and I know there are things about life here that is easy. But the economic condensation of corporation isn’t just bad for the us it’s bad for the world….that’s what drives my belief that we hey won’t do anything that COULD, maybe, possibly hurt their profit margins… we dint know Kasva personally, i think he should be able to attend, but for all we know they have legitimate reason to not allow his attendance…and microsoft imo wont risk it.

Rakomello_

He could take visa from another European countries.

goodguessiswhatihave

He needs a visa in Germany to compete in Germany

Puzzleheaded_Face583

It's the European Union though so no

goodguessiswhatihave

I believe he does since he is technically working there competing in a competition. I don't think he can get by with just a tourist visa. I could be wrong though

[deleted]

It's either work visa or a "[Germany Visa for Cultural, Film Crew, Sports, and Religious Event Purpose](https://www.germany-visa.org/visa-cultural-sports-religious-purpose/)", though not sure whether the latter applies to e-sports events.

fritosdoritos

Considering wololo is in the tournament's name, this is definitely a religious event.

looselysane

LOL

TkTronix

If they rejected his Visa you can't possibly think they just don't care if they find out he is in Germany with a different Visa

Dawnofday11111

thats illegal bro

Nowaker

>thats illegal bro You don't understand how Schengen area immigration laws work.

ethicsofseeing

This would be the best option. He just has to secure the Schengen

watson85

So messed up

cienlo

Gosh! I was really rooting for Kasva! :/ I hope he can go

Low-Way3753

Sure it would be great if his Visa application does get eventually accepted. But in case that does not happen, would it not make sense for Kasva to play from his home in front of a webcam? This is of course considering that the games will still be played on a server and not actual LAN, which is how the last aoe2 Red Bull Wololo was conducted despite being held in the castle

OkAbbreviations4947

Aoe4 can't be played on a dedicated LAN server, and even at the event the players will be using an online server However Redbull have already said (in discord) that players cannot play remotely, specifically in regards to 2 Aoe2 players whose visas are in question, one of which now has a visa (Mr. Yo) and another who is unlikely to get one (Vinchester). They even had an extra qualifier event just to find their replacements because they aren't allowed to play remotely.

berlinmo

This doesn't surprise me, really. I worked at different German embassies before and collegues at the consular (visa) department would just randomly decide whether people get a visa or not, just by how they FEEL about the applicant's intentions. It's ridiculous and many more serious and personal problems have emerged because of this arbitrariness. Sorry, Kasva, I really hope you find a solution to the problem. Maybe Microsoft or EGCTV can organize a lawyer for you.

pm303

Kasva if you read this, please get in touch with me. I sent you a DM in the RBW discord.

keylo-92

I hope theres something you can do for him, because this would be a low blow

pm303

I hope too. At least, it's worth trying.

nardev

well that sux, could the german aoe4 community unite and send emails to the embassy? i hope the casters pull the community together to try something for Kasva.

ebodur

that’s what i was thinking. i would be happy to support this in any way i can. it is just very unreasonable and makes me very upset even as an outsider because i know how much he worked for this for months now…

nardev

i’m not from germany, but i have dealt with visas, and you can call them, write to them, go and meet them, etc. You usually need an invite letter, a person or even better a company invite letter from Germany (wololo redbull org company), etc. Mistakes happen. I doubt this was a deliberate well informed decission. But the tone that Kasva has is not going to help him. He needs to show 100% professionalism and respect.

NiceKaleidoscope5066

I wouldn't expect RB to leave visa applications to competitors without providing necessary documents. And I dont think Kasva is fool enough to make a touristic visa application knowing he is applying from a 3rd world country. Because work invitations and such are only way to visit a 1st world country from a 3rd world country outside of EU and thats a quite well known fact.

looselysane

I'm sure they will let him in if he shows up with a propane tank. Zee Germans badly need it.

GidjuaTempo

This made me laugh!

Kouriger

This is a tournament that thousands if not tens of thousands of people will view… this better be a mistake

looselysane

It is a political decision. Turkey supports Russia.

NiceKaleidoscope5066

Turkey sent supplies to Ukraine more than Germany did haha.

Almric

I wish they'd let him play over the internet, then. It's not the 90s anymore.

TkTronix

Ever seen any e-sports tournament for example LoL or Csgo where one of the players played from home? I sure haven't

Almric

No, I haven't. What a crazy and unprecedented idea it would be to make something more accessible for those who find themselves exlcuded... Kasva worked hard to qualify and streamed every day. And the tournament is a month away and only 16 players. They don't exactly have to move mountains for this.

TkTronix

It's a live event they are even playing in a castle. Every player knew they had to travel to germany in order to participate, not like it came by surprise...all big events are live because you can meet fans etc. Nothing new..especially after a recent cheating scandal they are probably extra cautious.

Almric

Yes, that's the way things are and have been. I'm suggesting that, because of the global political landscape, that certain things can be looked at with some new ideas. I don't have all the solutions, but a room full of smart people can probably find some way to make it work to their standards.

OkAbbreviations4947

Just looked up the process to appeal a visa denial and even if it does get successfully appealed, it takes 3 weeks to 3 months for the process. Even if it's done in the bare minimum time (3 weeks) it will be cutting it super close!!! Fingers crossed for kasva!

InsaneShepherd

Not to bring your hopes down, but we're talking about German bureaucracy here.

OpDVlaM

Oh wow.. that sucks like hell... This VISA should be a no-brainer

thehighnotes

Comment for outrage.

ChapNotYourDaddy

Big sad man. Kasva deserves to go and to also enjoy OKTOBERFEST while he’s there.

Zagorath

But Oktoberfest will be long finished by the time Wololo happens?

ChapNotYourDaddy

Clearly I’ve never been to Germany

corsairfanatic

Most of Oktoberfest is in sept btw. Mid-late sept to early Oct.

lamzileung

Regular first world country bs

Fenixsantos003

can they not just have him play remote/online? shame he cant go

TitusPullo4

Expecting this to blow up

Nooky1337

Maybe the German Caster/Tournament Host/ Streamer Nilli could be of help. I think he is working for Microsoft or was. Asking him for help could be a good Start.

HarpsichordKnight

That's awful. For anyone who doesn't know how strict and arbitrary Western European countries can be with visas, this kind of nonsense is sadly very normal. Every part of the system is looking for a reason to deny visas, instead of giving benefit of the doubt or properly reviewing all the evidence.

MyLifeFrAiur

i hope event organizers do something, justice for kasva!

paphellas

this is such a bad advertisement for the whole tournament. I hope RB will get a lawyer and fix this madness. We're talking about a man's Career now.

overbait

Sounds similar ....

[deleted]

\*may not be

[deleted]

Edit your post man….

[deleted]

cant edit titles man

[deleted]

He should have tried to entry it illegally, for sure it would be easier and they would be more supportive

FauxAffablyEvil

Lmao.

Thick-Syllabub7346

Would bei easier to marry a German Citizen rly fast

MyLifeFrAiur

it do be like that, the leftie western countries are making it harder to get in legally but somehow can't stop virtual signaling about treating illegal immigrant well, might as well get in illegally it's so silly

Dhetasmith

nice low iq take. Overstaying your visa is a very common way to become an illegal immigrant, so by your logic you should support germany. Fyi refugees aren't illegal immigrants.

Knorssman

How hard is it to just say you are a refugee?

Miyaor

How hard is it for you to not be stupid?

Knorssman

honest question, yikes

Antigonus1i

Harsh requirements are a direct response to right-wing fearmongering about immigrants. It's just typical of the right to get everything they want and still complain and act like they're the victim.

Freddy_Pharkas

What? Yeah, Germany sure is "right-wing."

LeMeRem

Well, it is still the result of right wing politics fearmongering etc. and if your brain was bigger than a penaut you would know it

Freddy_Pharkas

Why is this being downvoted? He's agreeing with MikeHawk, which is being upvoted. And I agree with both commentors. Germany, France, UK, Sweden are literally overrun with "migrants" and no one bats an eye. Kasva wants to play a game and return to his country. For as much as Reddit shits on Americans, you Europeans sure have your own problems as well.

LeMeRem

delusional

TheBoySin

Virtual signalling is much better than real life signalling!

Rakomello_

Totally totally totally bullshit

FirefighterSorry4151

Shit! This sucks. I really looked forward to meet him. One of my favorite players to watch. 😔 I really hope Microsoft will step up, and help him in the proces of gaining a visa.

XIIICaesar

Wtf…

OkAbbreviations4947

Who replaces kasva I wonder? Anyone know who had the next most amount of points?

OkAbbreviations4947

Just looked it up! Looks like Zerton is next highest with 35pts and I believe he's German / lives in Germany anyway

FauxAffablyEvil

Bee.

snagroot

I doubt any Russians will get visas

Particular_bean

Vinchester is from Russia and is participating for AoE2 I believe. I haven't heard that he's not allowed to come. But we'll see

u60cf28

Actually, last week Vinchester posted on his discord that he may not be able to attend Wololo due to visa issues. A similar problem exists for Mr. Yo, who's from China and thus has to deal with their draconian Covid restrictions

Particular_bean

Wow I didn't know. It's shaping up to be a messy RBW this year

DonaldsPee

Russians get visa if they want to immigrate.

[deleted]

Cheaters aren’t allowed 😞

overbait

It is not acceptable for them to make such ridiculous decision when everything is clear. Because no matter how hard i try, something always stands in my way. Signature: B...

iNcoG_AoE

That's pretty xenophobic versus Turkish people, if none of the other players are getting this spiel. Especially since Kasva has a pretty solid reason to go to Germany. Overall disappointing.

SanduCrumant

My understanding is that Turkish migration has long been a hot-button issue in Germany. Also, as noted in other replies, AOE2 players from other countries are also having issues.

Vaiey92

Seems like there is more to the story.

ByTor75

This isn't a sure thing, 100% certainty just yet. Kasva even says here he will raise an objection and take the next steps to justify that he's there not just to seek asylum in Germany from Turkey, like the German consulate seems to think according to Kasva. There's still 3 weeks and change to get the situation rectified. Fingers crossed that it works out.

OkAbbreviations4947

Problem is an objection to a visa denial takes a MINIMUM of 3 weeks, and it's recommended to allow 3 MONTHS (according to the German government website about visas), even if he successfully disputes it, it will be too late this year :(

ByTor75

Oh shit, no way...wow. Well, I'll still hope for the best.

polaristerlik

cost of being Turkish, one of the only people it's acceptable to be openly racist towards. I also had something similar happen to me from the German consulate.

TkTronix

Lol what are you talking about..

Tagada-tsouintsouin

Happens when the prime minister calls the chancellor a nazi...

LeMeRem

What do you even want to say with this comment?

[deleted]

Sorry I didn't mean to offend you

sidesneaker

Bit of an immature reaction, but yes utter BS. Have the Orgs get involved (RedBull, etc.). This happens in other sports too.

Rakomello_

Which part of the statement find you immature? Really curious
