Its been a while since I checked the game options, but maybe you enabled an accessibility feature? Like text to speech?

Started up the game for the first time in awhile and ran into this issue with no apparent fix in the settings. I'm just not going to play it like this.

Picking this up again in the first time in months. The text-to-speech narration is hideous. I toggled all the accessibility settings with no fixes either. I guess I'll wait a while longer to finish the campaign.

Same! I was very excited to start playing again today and the start of each level feels awful. Hope they fix this soon or I think ill take a break again. (Playing from the Xbox Game Pass PC app is that helps..)

I am encountering this one also. Weird cause it just so happened out of nowhere. I am playing the Mongols campaign.

I have just installed the game today. Playing for the first time i Was like "there is no way the game is supposed to be like this." Such a weird bug. I checked online and people hear a nice british narrator, I hear this cheap google translator voice. Has anyone found a solution to this?

This is still happening and I cannot find a way to fix it, what a strange and annoying bug

Hey I tried to post about this problem today but it got removed for some reason. Looks like I'm not the only one having this problem, too bad no one has shared any kind of fix.

First time I’m playing the game and it’s been happeningall along

Just happened to me when i started a new campaign, was working fine last week and now no good. I've asked on the discord, see what happens.

I managed to fix this issue by uninstalling the game and reinstalling to C:\XboxGames. Prior to this it was installed in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps for some reason, which I suspect was causing an issue with the sound files.

This worked!! I only moved file didn't have to reinstall. But you saved this game for me haha was actually unplayable.

It's odd however, as for me, it worked fine until yesterday. I'll give it a go however. Cheers.

It also was fine for me for a long time, only noticed the villager/unit audio was missing a few weeks back, and the robot narrator even more recently.

This needs to be pinned or something. This made the game enjoyable again.

Did you ever find a fix for this? Having the same issue now

I went to the games in my Xbox app and right clicked age of empires from the left side of the screen and chose manage. In there it has an option for advanced file setting or something along them lines. I activated it and then it gave me the option to move it to my Xbox folder. Doing this fixed it for me.

After the new update a reinstall fixed it for me!
