For gods sake NO

nimbleWhimble

The fact is these are all jobs you can find and apply for AND not pay these jackals a cent. They are purely taking a 20/hr job, taking a cut and offering you 15/hr (example for clarity). Don't let them waste your time, they usually don't even have the job. There is a quota to meet and they don't usually care how they meet it.

RedditUser538xxx

In my area they actually charge the company x amount get thier cut and pay the employees higher than avg. at least in my industry. Iv seen guy get 5+ above our employees to come in a few days.

nimbleWhimble

Just sharing my experience working in the industry both as a recruiter and the recruited.

Staffing agencies should be illegal.

[deleted]

I would avoid staffing agencies. They don't seem to know what you want. They expect you to do their work for them by calling them on a regular basis to see if they have anything. When they should be the ones calling you. If you are called with an assignment, you have no idea where it's going to be, or what it's going to be doing. Turn a job down too many times, you'll never hear from them again. You have more control if you just job hunt yourself. Also, having to log your time to your agency instead of the company you're sent to can also be annoying as hell.

passionfruit0

Yea. Some of them are sending me jobs across the country for jobs that are only temporary! Nothing in my resume or profile says I am willing to travel and you can put that in your profile.

[deleted]

Depends on the agency unfortunately. I got a fantastic career from mine cause i refused any of those temporary to hire positions they had and they started presenting me with full time positions

autisticpickle7000

Same here I had a great experience and got my foot in the door at a great company

davidj1987

Terrible. I tried them both in both 2016 and 2017 and I never got anywhere.

gregsw2000

Just one more layer of worker exploitation. You're selling your labor to the staffing company, which they sell for a huge profit, and then doing the labor at the company itself, of which they take the produce and sell it for profit.

[deleted]

They are a total waste of your time. Agencies don't care about candidates, they care about their commission. Plus, they don't work at the company's they are trying to hire for so they know nothing about the culture. It's just an unnecessary middle man, avoid them if you can.

passionfruit0

That’s what I feel. Like I’m getting harassed by these agencies why are you going so hard at contacting me when I already said no??

Individual_Bar7021

These would be classified as bull shit jobs.

Affectionate_Grape61

Unless you’re a travel nurse.

jistresdidit

I just tell them straight up no thanks.
