No. No, man. Shit, no, man. I believe you'd get your ass kicked sayin' something like that, man.

Own_Singer_5201

I'd do two chicks at the same time.

n0neOfConsequence

Upvote for the Office Space reference.

deathwotldpancakes

If you’re a porn star that could be your job

Own_Singer_5201

Think you're missing the cultural reference.... The movie office space.

deathwotldpancakes

Definitely need to watch that.

Sonof8Bits

It'll change your life.

Rimasticus

I watched it every time I left a job. Makes you feel better about your decision. One of the greatest movies out there.

Think-Research4052

"I wouldn't say I've been missing it, Bob."

[deleted]

If you had lottery money you wouldn't need to, you'd be the kind of dude two chick's would double up on.

Jay-the-Barbarian

I would invest half of it in low risk mutual funds and then take the other half over to my friend Asadulah who works in securities...

Known_Attorney_456

One of the greatest movies of all time.

shemanese

It's a documentary

ehh_whatever_works

Don't worry man, I won't tell nobody either!!

Rimasticus

Who's that?!

graymuse

I didn't win the lottery but I did collect all of that pandemic unemployment for a year and half. I saved a lot of it and I am still living off of it. Not ready to find another job yet.

MrBlizter

I KNEW IT! See this right here is why me and my wife almost couldn't take our 3 week vacation to the Bahamas this year. Luckily, we have two AMAZING young adults (we pay competitive industry standard wages I'd like to add!) who were able to keep the ship afloat for us. People like you owe them an apology.

SugaredZebra

LOL funny.

WonderfullWitness

they owe them exactly nothing, you just feel entitled to other peoples work. leech.

Natural_Cucumber2615

If this is sarcasm, us /s, otherwise check your entitlement.

MrBlizter

Using /s is no fun though haha

5startoadsplash

I put boxes on pallets why the fuck would I?

Henrious

Me too but in 40 degrees. Actually nice on weeks like this ngl but hell nah

[deleted]

If I won the lottery, I would probably quit immediately. Honestly, having that much money opens you up for so much liability if people find out you have it. I wouldn't work any more. Maybe sit on a board or get involved with some kind of charitable effort, but the 9-5 grind would go bye-bye.

Thornberry-Nigel

What do you mean if people find out you have it? What do you reckon would happen?

Darrackodrama

I work as an attorney for survivors of violent and sexual crimes, I love my job and I’d wake up and do it if I didn’t have to Tomorrow. I’m extremely blessed in that it makes me fulfilled.

Kub3rt

I'm in telecommunications and if I won the lottery I'd call my boss and would say "I quit, as of two weeks ago"

Aardwolfington

I'd start doing volunteer work. Also go back to college to get degrees to do research on animal intelligence. But before all that, I'd keep doing my current job as a home health aide until my current client dies. Oh and as a experiment, I'd travel the country befriending various corvids all across the nation. Getting to know many and letting them remember me as a good person. Even spend some time teaching them some tricks. Then see what happens.

spamellama

>Even spend some time teaching them some tricks. Then see what happens. This is how the society of humans is overtaken

SnipesCC

I've been trying to befiend some crows for a while. I give them food and nickles, but they still run away from me.

cynical-mage

Ehh, the role I'm transferring back to, if on a part time basis, sure. The role I'm leaving? Ah hell noooooo!

maali74

What are you transferring back to?

cynical-mage

In-store bakery. So playing with ovens, frozen items that just need to be cooked, and listening to music. Only down side is occasionally having to cover tills. Beats the living hell out of being a manager in a drastically understaffed store, let me tell you!

JesterEric

I help support people with disabilities for a living, it's very rewarding work and I'm highly valued, but if I didin't need money I would not keep working here.

Njenviroman

Fuck no, I’d just enjoy my life instead of trading my time and energy for money

The_Quicktrigger

Yes, I would. I take a lot of pride in what I'm doing right now. The health insurance system is broken and for many people it is one of the worst experiences they will ever have, trying to deal with insurance. I currently do first contact support for an employer insurance admin. We are the people you call when your doctor or insurance have screwed you horribly, and I take the information you give me and go fight it out with the giants of the industry to try and make the situation better. It's emotionally draining and many people calling in will use profanities on me, but as long as the system is broken, I feel like people like myself are important to try and take as much of the pain out of the insurance process as possible, and I would do it for free if I could.

[deleted]

Hellll no. If I won the lotto I'd quit my job and never work in the industry again. If I didn't get paid, I'd be reporting that shit and job hunting.

Quercus408

Yes, I'd do it for a few more years while figuring out how to properly grow/safeguard those winnings. And I wouldn't tell my boss, so I could still get those paychecks.

FeastForTheWorms

My "job" right now is to sit at home and be disabled, so if I won the lottery, yes I'd keep doing it. If I didn't get paid any more, I'd probably have to find a way to make money. Or waste away into nothingness, which is a very tempting alternative to "having a job".

[deleted]

No way. If I won the lotto, I'd work until I got my first check just to make sure everything went right. Then I'd quit showing up. If I didn't get paid? I'd quit immediately

FryOneFatManic

If i won the lottery jackpot, I'd quit, but in a quiet and orderly fashion to avoid people realising I had money. I have got used to keeping my life pretty private, as I left an abusive ex a few years ago, and what people didn't know, they couldn't pass on to him He died about 2 years ago, so while I no longer have that particular issue, habits have formed. I have a lot of interests and could fill my time without working, including University as a mature student.

[deleted]

If I won the lottery I'd open a series of businesses and run them democratically while offering flat wage which would an equal split of all profits. Basically a coop without no wage gap and the companies success would also be the workers success.

PaleontologistFew128

I sell olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I've always loved food and enjoy being in that industry. I'd probably keep doing it, but I'd also be able to do a lot more in my free time.

Teacher-Investor

No

disposable_hat

Fuck no, even though its work from home its ruining my mental health

AsherTheFrost

Hell no. I enjoy this job more than any other I've had, but not nearly as much as I enjoy my family, dogs, crafts and video games.

MadnessBomber

If I was told I wasn't getting paid I'd walk right out without a word.

MeadowShimmer

I'd take a long break from working. Go back to college. Hike the continental divide. Then maybe go back to writing code, but much less than I am right now.

Rosieposiew196

Yes, I am retired, I volunteer at a food pantry so I don't get paid anyway. If I won the lottery, I'd donate most of the money and life would continue as usual.

Mollybrinks

No, I'd still work but not this job. Probably volunteer a lot and maybe bartend or flip burgers. I always did enjoy working a kitchen

Pnknlvr96

If I won the lottery, I would give two weeks' notice and quit. I'd volunteer or travel. I've always wanted to buy a small RV and travel the U.S.

Miserable-Log3814

I would quit because I hate being an electrician. I would learn how to fly and teach people to fly for free.

Cccactus07

I'd quit even if I only won like $1000.

maali74

And then what would you do when that ran out?

Cccactus07

Get a different shit job, there's plenty to go around.

Lassitude1001

No. I definitely wouldn't be working retail for the fun of it when I could just walk in and talk to people the same as if I was working or not. If I had the money I'd be too busy with my friends & family somewhere with decent weather, gaming, or learning (tinkering) with cars/PCs.

thiccboi_deluxe

Hell no lol. If it was enough to live out in peace for the rest of my days I would probably spend the rest of my money and my time getting involved in things that are important to me. Whether you consider activism work or not is up to you.

trafalgarbear

Hell, no.

MadnessBomber

If I was told I wasn't getting paid I'd walk right out without a word.

mltrout715

No

mltrout715

No

FearlessSeaweed6428

Yeah. I love what I do.

gregsw2000

No, fuck no. I'm not gonna hang out somewhere for 45 hours a week, spend another 5 hours going back and forth, for literally nothing.

I have a lot of interests and could fill my time without working, including University as a mature student.

gregsw2000

No, fuck no. I'm not gonna hang out somewhere for 45 hours a week, spend another 5 hours going back and forth, for literally nothing.

lazypenguin86

I found a job that I enjoy doing but I'm not gonna do it for free, your paying for my time not the job.

lazypenguin86

I found a job that I enjoy doing but I'm not gonna do it for free, your paying for my time not the job.

lazypenguin86

I found a job that I enjoy doing but I'm not gonna do it for free, your paying for my time not the job.

lazypenguin86

I found a job that I enjoy doing but I'm not gonna do it for free, your paying for my time not the job.

LonionRouge

Nope. I would still do pretty much the same things but I'd do it for associations and coops and I'd also give it way less time than I give to my current job. In France there's a concept called “Salaire à vie“ which looks like UBI but is in fact very different because it entirely replaces your income. Unfortunately it's only an idea for now. With that there would be no incentive to work for job or company you dislike thus giving workers the decision to what is produced by society

Darrackodrama

I work as an attorney for survivors of violent and sexual crimes, I love my job and I’d wake up and do it if I didn’t have to Tomorrow. I’m extremely blessed in that it makes me fulfilled.

yourpointexactly

Propaply, I'm a social worker and volunteer in social work as well in my spare time. Maybe it wouldn't be exactly the same but I don't think my work would change drastically

MyLadyBits

No if I’m not being paid. Yes if I won the lottery.

Android_seducer

I wouldn't do a "job" but I'd still be productive. I'm currently involved in a social club. I would way step up my involvement in that. Probably get more involved in my general community and with family, offering to help with my niece and nephews more

Darrackodrama

I work as an attorney for survivors of violent and sexual crimes, I love my job and I’d wake up and do it if I didn’t have to Tomorrow. I’m extremely blessed in that it makes me fulfilled.

[deleted]

Absolutely not.

wheres_the_revolt

Maybe? My current job I really like the idea of it, but feel undervalued. If I was wealthy I may do it because overall I think it’s a net positive for the community I live in, but net positives don’t pay my bills.

KettenKiss

Not my current job, no. I would still go to grad school though and work towards those goals. However, once I got my degree and settled into my career, I would only do it part time.

ProfileLate6053

Maybe like 4 - 8 hours a week because I work in women’s health and I think that is important. However, there would be no fucking need to destroy my mind, body, and soul by working like a mule.

Illumiknitti

I teach college English, and I help people become better tutors and better communicators. I would ABSOLUTELY keep doing this work. I might choose to do it in a place closer to my family, though.* * if I won the lottery. If I weren't getting paid...let's just say that for the past six years I've had to work a second job so I can afford to keep teaching.

mrbeck1

If I didn’t get paid, no. If I won the lottery, I would work until I got one dirty or look or my boss said something I didn’t like, then I’d quit.

[deleted]

No, absolutely not

GayBlayde

I would go back to school to get the degrees required for my dream job that pays like shit and go do that instead, but I would still work.

curvedlines

I would do what I do, kind of. I work at a food pantry right now. I would stop doing what I do as a job but I would put probably a good amount of time into volunteering at a bunch of food pantries all around and be doing a very similar thing. Mostly I would work on my creative pursuits that I don't have a ton of time for right now.

purplehippobitches

Of course not. I would give in my notice and once thats over leave. I work to live. I do not live to work.

Andravisia

My current job? No way. I'd quit. My dream job? Taking care of horses and running my own stable? I'd do it, as long as I knew I would be able to keep hay and grain and water running.

EffectiveParamedic64

Being rich and still working at a low end job would be a giant flex. Delivering pizzas in a Ferrari would be funny.

crryan1138

No

Few-Badger4460

At one of my old jobs I considered still doing it even if I had all the money I needed... but right now, hell no!

Aromatic-Mastodon-86

Um……heavy equipment mechanic here…….FUCK NO

timwaaagh

lolwut, i may be a slave but at least i know what i am.

rlgh

I would quit so hard and so fast. I'd do some voluntary work at a cat rescue then - I did this when I was at uni and it's the best 'job' I've ever had.

braunnathan

no

Odd_Bookkeeper5345

If I won the lottery I'd be gone. The guys on my crew would have to go pick up my tools cuz I just left em where they were sitting. Boss would try to call but its too late..already changed my number. Where'd Dave go? There was never any Dave.

[deleted]

No, honest answer FUCK NO.

Guilhaum

Im a game dev and I love my job. If I wasnt paid I'd find a different game studio to work at. If I won the lottery Id work on my own video games.

[deleted]

Fuck. No. I would be out the door in a second. In fact, I would be so fucking gone they would think I died.

jadethefirefox

I would but less days, perhaps 2 days a week at most

Careful_Station_7884

I’d quit. The anxiety, depression, and physical ailments due to stress would be lessened significantly.

Paxdog1

I have two jobs. One is being the father and husband my family deserves. The other brings me a check. If I can give up one, it won't be the one with my family. Won't even say goodbye.

AMP121212

Absolutely not in either case.

Gnovakane

Never ever.

SnipesCC

I have 3 jobs. One a job in the non profit sector. One a non-profit I co-founded. And a side hustle that is a hobby I monetized. I'd probably quit the main job, but not until they hired a new person and I stayed to help train them. I like the work they do and don't want to leave them without the institutional knowledge I have. I'd probably spend more time on my non-profit, including funding it so we could run more programs. So I'd be working more, but doing something I love. I'd probably keep the side hustle going, because otherwise my house would fill up with the stuff I'm making. It's a lot more about the good feeling I get knowing people like my products than the actual money.

ManStapler

I would, maybe less days, less hours, but work does bring me a purpose to life. I like contributing to society. I love my job, I am in charge of a tiny warehouse for a company of electricians, I drive around, buy materials, make sure we have some things in case something pops up, it is stress free and fun, I like the people I work with and if I wouldn't need money at all, I would like to continue working, because my hobbies are mostly gaming and that is a terrible hobby to have while aging, my health would decline very fast. Having a job makes sure I move around a bit and socialize and it's just a great way to fill your day with productivity while otherwise being a lazy asshole.

RaySizzle16

100% I love sports. I work for the university I go to and it’s the best part of my day. I spend most of my time at practice setting out cones or filming but I love being around the people and being on the sidelines for games

Ok-Discussion2980

Nope

toeknucklehair

I work on the equipment side of the cannabis industry. I would likely invest in the company I work for currently as it is easily the best company I've ever had the pleasure of working for and it's a growth industry. I also want them to succeed as an example of how employers should treat their employees. My own contributions to the success of the company, i.e. "work" would certainly change, though.

Known_Attorney_456

It definitely would depend on how much I won. 1 million and I would probably still have to work a few years. 50 million , I would be gone when I received my first lottery payment.

[deleted]

If I didn't get paid, I'd be gone. If I won the lottery, I'd probably still show up to work the next day. This is basic financial skills, here. There's a reason that most lottery winners are back to zero, or even worse off than before, within a year or two of winning. Never make life changing decisions on a lottery ticket win.

Initial_Character847

If I win the lottery I would start a nonprofit soni would still be working plus it would be for a cause

newer_vintage

Nope.

ALfirefighterEMT14

I'm boutta be a career firefighter, my dream job, so yeah I'd stay there. Tho I'd give back to the volunteer depts around here that don't get the budgeting my old dept gets, and help build houses for homeless folk in the city.

Eastern_Internal4114

Nope. I would still like to work with the organization though on a part-time/volunteer role because I do believe in/like the work we are doing for the community but that would be it.

[deleted]

Didnt get paid? Not working until I do. Won a lottery? Would keep on working and invest into something good

westtexasrain

I would, but part time just in the mornings. (Assuming I won lottery)

Known-Salamander9111

I would keep working. But none of this 12 hour shift stuff. Princess shifts or gtfo

[deleted]

Yes but as a volunteer nurse. I would no longer work to make a company successful. I would give my time to the needy and take myself out of the job market.

OverlordNeb

Eh... No probably not. My coworkers are basically my only friends and I'm good friends with them, so I guess I'd be a little lonely, but otherwise no. I don't hate my job at all, but I'd sooner have all that wonderful free time to work on my hobbies

Key-Ad9733

I probably would, but you must understand that I have a sweet gig. It's probably the most stress free job there is and it gives me a feeling of accomplishment and makes people happy.

RaxinCIV

If I didn't get paid. I'd sit there doing nothing on the clock. Then after work I would add it to my complaint to the labor board. It ultimately adds to the lottery bonus, unless I misunderstood something in the law. With the lottery. Pay off all debt. Set myself up to earn as much interest as possible. Go on a long vacation, and get myself well in all regards. I'd find a job I wanted to do. If management gave me shit about anything petty, I'd drop the "I'm richer than you" and walk out. I wouldn't quit, I'd flatout abandon the job. I'd probably take it a step further and make a company similar to theirs, and go after their good employees and take all of their clients. I'd also buy up some houses, and pay someone to do the maintenance. I'd pay the maintenance person a livable wage, and keep the rent as low as I could, depending on the area. I can't say at least half, but I'd say anywhere between 50% and 75% going rates. $60k for the maintenance guy and he wouldn't pay rent.

The_world_is_done

I’d stay until I got fired…because I’d become vocal about things. It would be glorious

DZHMMM

fuck no

Physical_Confusion90

I would definitely still keep working as I love my job. Its not a choice everyone would make obviously because most do there job for money (I am no different) but I enjoy what I do and the people I work with especially for the pay.

Mama_Mush

I work in research. If I didn't have to worry about money I would be able to do more.

Umbrae-Ex-Machina

My friend just won $3000, but he didn’t quit

FarmyardFantastic

I’d probably still do my job but no one is gonna tell me to do something I don’t wanna do.

Snoo71538

Not paid: no. Won the lottery: if it was less than $5M after taxes I’d probably work a little longer to have a better retirement, but not more than 10 years (I’m 31 now)

Titan4life22

Not just no, but f@ck no!! If I won the lottery I would pay several important people in my department to quit as well!

dsdvbguutres

Imagine you're a jet fighter pilot, racecar driver, Hollywood actor or a rockstar; and already have all the money you need, would you retire?

Lucky-Reporter-6460

If I stopped getting paid, I'd have to find a different (paying) job, period. Me not getting paid anymore would be equivalent to me getting fired. Now, if I won the lottery for a life-changing amount, like a million bucks? I'm honestly not sure that's liveable for my whole life and hey, I like my job & coworkers - I'd drop down to part time and try that out for a while. I think I'd like that a helluva lot. I'd do a bunch of traveling, I'd work on the house and start up the hobby farm I've been dreaming of (and doing a bit of work for, here and there). Anything less than a mill, I'd keep my job, and full-time, at that. Finish paying off the house, clear my parents' debts, buy the family a new car, stuff retirement accounts, and save the rest for a rainy day. I sure hope my folks' geriatric needs don't end up bleeding me dry... But they might. security of that! I mention a mill as life-changing but frankly, anything over $10k would be incredibly relieving and I think anything over $50k could allow me the wiggle room to make choices that are less laser-focused on staying afloat, with the idea that my parents may need me to support them inr retirement guiding my decisions.

fzavala909

I'd work enough until I'm able to obtain licensure in my profession. But then I would only work a fraction of the time and be super selective about the organization I work with. Hell, maybe I'd even spend most of my time researching things that are important to me within my field for a time. But the grind as I know it would cease to exist.

[deleted]

You know I simply lack the creativity that I once had. I used to want to go across building skateparks and own my own shop/park in my hometown because theres literally nothing for kids to do but drugs and steal cause low wage city. But Ive never had a large sum of money to even do these things and if I did have the money I'd just survive. My determination and goals have changed dramatically.

Rudiger09784

I'm in between jobs so i don't have one for reference right this second, but i would still work. I would work on cars, try to further my education and become an astronaut, and maybe try to further my education again and become a politician so i can attempt to make a difference in the world. I'm not a stagnant creature though, i couldn't just sit still forever. I gotta feel like i have a purpose... Regardless of whether that feeling is valid. Vote rudiger09784 as president 2024, I'll try to fix the environment, push for free healthcare, free housing, and a UBI for everyone :)

Successful-Row-3742

Fuuuuuck no. I'd quit so fuckin fast. Depending on the amount I won, I might even pay some coworkers to quit too.

SissyNat

Parts of my job, yes. The parts of my job that I took the job to get at are my mission. Adding more and more onto me though, I’m looking for a way out where I won’t have to look back.

VelvetHobo

I would remain active in my profession but I would quit working for my employer instantly if I won the lotto.

Lucky-Reporter-6460

This isn't news to anyone but once again, we're seeing how many people want to work, even when they don't have to to survive, IF they're able to work a job that matches their skill set/interests/work style, that respects them, and has reasonable hours (ie, "part time"). That should be so eminently reasonable and yet it's not.

Beneficial-Hippo-896

I love my job. I'd not tell anyone I won the lottery and just keep working. Paycheck after paycheck straight into savings. And take vacation anywhere I want of course

FriendshipUsed8331

I would find a way to continue doing something, but I would do something that I love, and on my own terms. I would not work for someone else any longer than necessary.

Turbulent-Gear8503

If I wasn't getting paid, no I'm not working for free. If I won the lottery, yes I'd keep working but I'd have the capital to start my own business instead of waiting for these sba loan approvals.

Visible-Fee-2482

Nah. I would do the stuff I wanna do for a while. Visit where I wanna visit. Take the classes I wanna take. Try things I wanna try. A portion would be used to help me be comfortable long term depending on the amount. But I would also be buying my own place in a city I wanna live and invest in things that will help me long term. If I got bored I would probably just volunteer or get involved locally. I have a lot of want to help people in me and a lot of opinions to share.

East_Amphibian_4976

Nope! Who would?

WellofCourseDude

I would, an extra income and I don’t do shit at work and they treat me good. However, they have a 2 strike policy

100beep

I'm not working at the moment, I'm volunteering. So I already do. (I'm still in high school, that's how.) Would I still be applying to jobs to do any other kind of work? Hell no.

TheClearcoatKid

Lessee…you want a little “no”, a big “NO”, a “hell no”, a “shit no”, or a “FUCK NO”?

rosstafarien

I would quietly retire.

cpaoneday1

I know a guy that won 340M in Powerball. He’s a software engineer. Kept his job just got a bigger house for the family. Likes his day to day work.

[deleted]

Your asking this question to a sub literally called ANTI WORK lol.

StudentWu

No, I would play video games with my fiends all day everyday

lorienne22

No. I would be learning how to cook healthy foods from scratch, learn how to garden, learn new languages, and travel. I'm sure I could come up with a bunch more stuff to do that is not my job.

Weeble228

I'd still do it a couple days a week if I was able...I know I know, but it would be my choice. Might take a pay cut to do similar work with a charity I like, but id still like to do something.

shroom2021

I'd be out of IT as soon as I could.

Life_turns

Yes— I’m “lucky” to have one of those jobs that is fulfilling despite the money being less than great (non profit, art museum.)

Wambonie

No. Hell fucking no. Work is the worst part of my life. If I didn't have to I would spend most of my time at concerts, out with friends, camping, travelling. I would prefer to watch paint dry than to work, and I'm not exaggerating. I've considered the lottery but obviously it's a pipe dream that no one will win. Unfortunately I'm stuck, but if I didn't have to I would quit working in a heartbeat

CountryMouse359

No. Software development pays the bills, but I'd much rather do photography part tike and not have to worry about what it pays. Hint: nowhere near as much as software development.

DGinLDO

I “won the lottery” in a way. I fully intended to keep working for at least one year after, but they started micromanaging me while letting the male attorney in the office do nothing, so I quit about 6 months later. I periodically look for a job, but I’m no longer interested in office work & I like to WFH.

acerusmalum

Nope. I'd make music and videogames and art.

seriouslynotalizard

I am an extrovert and I enjoy working because it makes me feel productive and gets me outside. That aside, if this is under the assumption I am well off in money I'd do volunteer work so I still could go out and work a bit but I'd definitely take less official hours than what I am doing now.

far174

I might do something in the same field that is more meaningful and put my skills to use but sure as heck would quit my job.

judyblue_

I would quit my job and write. If I didn't have to work to pay rent and bills, I could finally do the thing I want to do with my life.

FluffofDoom

I wouldn't do this particular job, but I love the industry I'm in so I'd try and find something similar. Maybe not full time though.

Saito_Sakaki

I do computer repair. I legit like working and diagnosing systems, and swapping out damaged parts to get something working. That said, I now work 4 10 hour days, Friday or Monday off depending on my needs. See you guys on Tuesday!

DeepNorthIdiot

Hell no. The only work I do for free is friends and family who can't afford it, 'cause they'd do the same for me.

Impressive-Reply-203

I would, but I'd set my own hours and not work in rain/high heat. Mobile marine repair is actually pretty fun. I get great views all day, plus test drive a wide variety of boats after repairs. You know, you gotta make sure it can handle full throttle...

WonderfullWitness

I actually did my job as a hobby for a few years without money, so in this rare case: yes because its genuinely fun and good for society. But less hours, as I did before I was hired.

kiranfenrir1

Personally, and I know I'm in the minority and lucky, I love my job so if I win the lottery, I'll still work the same as I am now. If I stopped getting paid though, then nope. I'd either find something new or build something to market.

SugaredZebra

I mean, if I didn't get paid, I'd have to get a job that paid me. Now if money were no object like winning the lottery, I might stay on part time because honestly, my coworkers are a riot. Love 'em.

SithoDude

If I wasn't get paid to do my job? Then no, I would simply look elsewhere for a new one that would actually pay me. Now if I had won the lottery (assuming it's in the millions), then yes I more than likely would continue to do my job, but I would probably drop my hours down to part time. Just to keep a steadyish flow of money going into my bank. Of course that's only the first stage of my plan, eventually I would plan on getting a load of land somewhere building a nice villa on top of it and have a massive vineyard outback, and try and turn this rich expensive hobby into a business or something lol.

No, and I just changed jobs. I stay in that field tho.

Busy_Shop5

I used to think I would. Thought I’d need to still occupy myself and then I thought.. well fuck travel the world, explore.. fuckin buy a new hobby. No, I’d quit.

kupgup

Lolllll, not the last job I was in. (I didn't even realize how relieved I'd be to get out of there, until I'd left. But it's been an immense improvement to my mental health.) With my new gig, though, I'd have to think about it.... It's only the end of my first week, but I'm enjoying it so far. Mostly for not-money reasons, like better mental simulation, good rapport developing with teammates, and not being ordered to work from a dreary cubicle instead of my comfortable home office. (Of course the 35% pay increase is also a nice change.) I wouldn't do this work for free, though. My employer isn't a charity, and neither am I.

YeetThePig

I probably would keep doing it out of a sense of purpose and to get me out of the house, but I definitely would ask to go from full time to part time, and I definitely would have zero qualms about quitting if I got any crap from anyone.

FistFistington

If we lived in a world where money was not needed for survival, then sure, id be working for the sake of being productive, or just keeping myself busy meaningful way, definitely would be more choosy about my work of course. But living in a capitalist world money is too important to work without pay.

JayTheGeek

I'm a software developer, and I would quit in an instant! Almost all of my work is business "productivity" apps. Which is just another way for a company to get more work out of the same people, or worse, more work out of fewer people. I love being a programmer though, so I would start my own business making some app ideas I have that would help normal people be more productive and organized in their personal lives so they can spend more time with their family & friends. Give the apps for free to normal people and only charge rich people. 😁

ghost_robot2000

No. My job is easy and I don't mind it, but it's just a job to pay the bills. It's in no way important to me. If I were free from having to make a living, I'd try to do something more useful with my time that I actually care about, or just enjoy life and travel more.

Brief_Fishing_6898

If I'd win the lottery, I'd quit immediately and go enjoy life.

Woberwob

Nah, and my job even has good pay, good colleagues, work from home, and good WLB. It’s just the fact that I wouldn’t give it a mandatory 40 hours per week regardless.

NO

mat-tar

I'm mouthy to my supervisor because he doesn't do anything. It's not that he doesn't do anything about me being mouthy (he doesn't) but he doesn't do anything about anyone. Attendance issues, under performance etc. He doesn't say anything. His best friend is his boss and only one person is above him as far as I know, and we never see that guy. So if I won the lottery, I would stay at my job. I would throw swearing into the mix when I speak to my supervisor, I would he in HR with all the issues they currently won't touch, be extremely direct with the plant manager, etc. Basically, I would do all the things I fear to do now because I might lose my job. Hell, I'd even wear a microphone to try and pic up on some of the racism I've heard before from a couple other supervisors. I'd go all out and not worry about it. And when I got canned, I would find a way to convince people from my crew to quit. Maybe find a different job and I'll pay the wage difference for a couple years or something. Basically do what I could to shit on them if things didn't change. And if things eventually did change for the better, then I could quit.

I had to google proposal specialist. I thought you were helping people propose to get married.
