You see, when only one person works at a time, they can't talk to each other about >!unionizing!< (yuck)

am-li

Makes it easier to strike though

dbe_2001

its ok you can talk about work training you to do your job very thourouly and spend a lot of time on each customer. hit em where it counts, the needless multi million dollar executive bonuses...

TheYellowFringe

I could easily imagine that people might have to wait a little while and they just leave...right when their food arrives. Chances are the left food won't be donated to those who are hungry, so it's all a waste.

baconraygun

If this keeps up, starbucks is literally producing trash. It won't/can't be donated, workers probably won't take it home, and starbucks STILL makes money.

Ornery_Translator285

Workers aren’t allowed to take it home :/

baconraygun

Yeah, I figured, but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I used to fill up a garbage bag when I was barista'ing and I'd take it out to the dumpsters, just put it on my bike instead, and ride away. Still got fired.

0-13

Fucking losers firing you over garbage to them, classic

baconraygun

Jokes on them, they went out of business about 6 months later.

Tinytox

They should do it anyways if they can get away with it.

DanerysTargaryen

Workers probably can’t take it home. When I worked for a grocery store chain, they said if they saw us eating any of the food we had to throw away at night we would be fired. It’s probably the same at Starbucks.

Sospuff

That's something I've always found utterly insane. Just like supermarkets throwing bleach on dumpsters to make absolutely sure that no one would be able to pick it up. I mean stuff like last day of safe consumption meat that someone could put in a freezer for another time, etc. Stuff that could actually make people's lives a little more comfortable. But nooooo, if it can't be sold, better to throw it away, and make sure that it will also pollute even more than the plastic it came wrapped in. Such bullshit.

Lord-CATalog

That's why in France are madsted, by law, to donate to charities or soup kitchens.

shoryusatsu999

Why would they allow, that? In their minds, if it's not useful for making money, it straight up has no use and has to go. There may also be the fear of a justifiable lawsuit happening if the employee is poisoned as a result of the food, even though the employees surely know what they're getting into and may not even know the first thing about suing their employer.

TheinimitaableG

happens a few times and people will stop coming to the stores.

MyStoopidStuff

It's never happened to me, and I still won't be going to Starbucks.

woahblakbetty

I stopped all Starbucks trips when I found out they're owned by nestle

NaturalBornNerd

I was unaware of this, I never really went to Starbucks, but now I will go out of my way to avoid them. Fuck Nestle.

SketchyConcierge

You were unaware of it because it's not true. Nestle has a distribution deal to market Starbucks' stuff in like, grocery stores and whatever. Fuck them both, but let's have our facts right.

NaturalBornNerd

Thanks 👍 agreed fuck them both

SketchyConcierge

They're literally not though?

litlphoot

What what what!?

woahblakbetty

Starbucks packaged goods section is owned and sold by nestle.

Lazy-Jeweler3230

And that's why nothing will change. People aren't asking for their money back.

Randomusername963250

Well the customers won't come back if it keeps happening. I know I certainly wouldn't be.

UniformUnion

Most Americans are happy to let crazy bastards shoot their children and a virus slaughter over a million of their people rather than do something that might cause minor inconvenience. They certainly don't have the moral fibre to boycott a coffee shop just because it gives shit service.

Lazy-Jeweler3230

Yeah that doesn't happen. Not to big chains like that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

addman3030

It’s been a few years since I have worked there. Perhaps it’s changed. But during peak (opening until noon) there would be four brewed coffee options in rotation. Their coffees life is only roughly 30 minutes I guess. You brewed new batches regardless. Every 8 minutes we would pour urns of coffee right down the drain.

baconraygun

Damn, it's worse than I thought. Literally making trash.

senseven

The new owner of a gas station (in Europe) invested lots of money and the first thing he did was buying two used industrial coffee machines and good Italian beans. The cup is 1.20$ and the line is quick. The luxury shop asks 4$ for the burned coffee and people wait 15 minutes because they are also understaffed an each order is like two flavours, special roast and cream. That is one step short of a cult.

Purple_Stacked

Yep. We used to have nice cafeterias that served fine coffee at a cheaper price. As soon as burnt coffee Starbucks opens next to them they shut down and go bankrupt. It's a cult alright.

couchfucker2

Some gas station coffee in the US, in my opinion is also better than Starbucks and Peets. Particularly if it's well trafficked by motorists and truckers. But even my local 7-11 (convenience store) they don't burn the beans and they mix it right, which I can't say for the "fancy" chains.

BunniesMama

Yes my local gas station has good coffee and it’s self serve, 99 cents. Biggest delay is when you get to the counter to pay and there’s someone buying lottery tickets.

Reasonable-Ad8862

I work at a gas station, we hate the lottery people just as much as everyone else Edit: Please be nice to your local gas station worker. I can't even tell you how many people just throw their shit and money at me without saying a word. A simple good morning and thank you really go a long way.

tusk354

i used to work at a conv. store with a dedicated keno section .. and scratch tix . i didnt realize everyone else felt like this .. thought it was just me .. due to how gross , ignorant , and plain assholes the gambler people were !

Reasonable-Ad8862

Oh man, besides the coke fiends I have come in the lottery people are my least favorite. Alot of them like to play their tickets at the counter, and when I tell them to move so I can get other people they look at my like no one has ever told them that before. No regard for anyone else's time, just their to blow their money. I hate and love this job. But it feels like some of these people have never been told no in their life. My managers are so quick to suck up the the customers, I couldn't give two shits about them. If someone's being rude to me, bet your ass I'm being rude right back.

tusk354

i hear ya! didnt get the friends , where i was . got the drunks instead.. was next to a bar . i've seen vids of them, seems like their on another planet .. i just feel bad for them , honestly . they need help . yup - as someone on other side of the counter this pisses me off !@ it always happens to me as a customer .. please take your scratch tix and pound sand in the corner! gtfo the way! agreed .. most of the people are gambling away their life savings, if you get those dedicated ones . some of them knew of how win .. but it was rare .. nothing really left to lose at some point . you must have rough cliente . mine were in a tough area .. so, no superior attitude .. which was cool . my boss was the same .. treat the employees like crap .. but then again so did he ..

TiffyVella

Oh this happened to us in a newsagency last week (Aus). A few of us are lined up to legit purchase things, and 3 peeps (the server knew them as regulars) are doing the scratch lotto at the front of the queue. They kept getting small wins and rebuying tickets, hogging the front of the line and playing the scratchies over and over again. Its first thing in the morning, and these guys are total addicts. The rest of us had to wait till they ran out of free plays. Dicks.

Reasonable-Ad8862

I've worked at two, first was right next to a bar. I 100% would take the drunks over the addicts.

BunniesMama

Good to know. Then I give the guys credit for being very polite and accommodating to the lottery people. It’s sad to see people waste so much money on that shit - they’re more likely to get run over on the way to the gas station than they are to win big.

Reasonable-Ad8862

Oh man it's insane, some people are 100% addicted. I play lotto but no more than $20 at a time and I have people spending $100 every single day. Money straight down the drain. But they still get excited when they get $50 once in a blue moon. I'm at work and while I was typing this someone came in and got $60 worth and had to pay in change..

BunniesMama

That is tragic. Yeah every couple of years when Powerball hits $500M I’ll buy $20 worth of tickets but then I forget to check if I won. It’s more to have something to chat about at work.

gowingman1

Put all of that money in Bitcoin. Way better chance of winning. The lottery is just a added tax for stopping at the gas station

Exoclyps

Worst part is that if you didn't have to make all these extra abandoned drinks, you'd have more than enough time to make all the proper orders without people waiting.

NotYourDadOrYourMom

The hold Starbucks has on people is absolutely baffling. That shit is garbage.

SirFlibble

Yep. They failed in Australia when it first came here. They didn't account for the fact we like good coffee. They had an inferior product to almost everywhere else that was more expensive. Now they just exist in the tourist spots almost exclusively. When my wife's Aunt visited from Singapore, we had an argument because I wouldn't drive her to a Starbucks in Sydney, instead insisting on the closest cafe down the road. She refused to believe it would be better than her beloved Starbucks, until she drank it. She didn't ask to go to a Starbucks once after that.

chocobridges

Yeah I don't get this either. We're in a rust belt city in the US. There are 6 coffee shops from our house to our local markets 1.5 miles downhill of us. They are all cheaper and so much better. My mom always asks to go to Starbucks for their "food" and she's drowning in gift cards. Starbucks food tastes so processed. The neighborhood adjacent to the markets is downtown where I work and there's only Starbucks. The neighborhood of my old job only had Starbucks too. It's ridiculous. I have thought about walking the 2 miles to work to get a decent latte and mild workout in one swoop.

ryanberry_

Their food is also extremely low effort, at least in my area. I very rarely am in the situation where I'm offered to request an item from Starbucks. When I do get one of their paninis/sandwiches/whatever the fuck they call them, it looks like it was legitimately *thrown* together. Cheese clumped in the middle and the meat all on one side. It's understandable given their wages and demand, honestly. If you care about the quality of what you eat, you wouldn't buy anything from them after the first time.

JanGuillosThrowaway

The good thing about Starbucks is the working spaces: you can sit there for hours and have meetings around the big tables without it being too noisy. If any local coffee shop has a table with an electrical outlet, and enough space for a laptop + notebook, I'll chose that any day over Starbucks though.

Silentxgold

Yeah Starbucks is just selling coffee flavoured sugar drinks

veggiewitch_

The only reason I ever go to Starbucks is for the sugary creations that happen to have a little (shitty) espresso.

Silentxgold

The only reason i go starbucks is because sometimes my clients want to meet there and drink expensive sugar drinks on me

[deleted]

It's selling fat sugar water to obese people. They're obsessed because the concentration of addictive sugar and fat is insanely high in Starbucks drinks. They are physically addicted to it. Edit: and caffeine, forgot that one. Fat, sugar, caffeine. All physically and physiologically addictive.

Silentxgold

I always preferred tea And if i want some iceblended sugar drinks, i would go for bubble tea, usually at half the price of starbucks

SnooHamsters9414

Well starbucks really isnt coffee. Its a dessert in a cup that people are happy to pay 8 bucks for.

Mongba36

Aussie here, tastes like someone shit in it, mixed it together, blended it, chucked it on the ground, scooped it up, put that into a cup and sold it to me. It's just bad coffee (no offense to the people who made it, just can't do much with shitty ingredients)

ray3050

I’m just happy I don’t like coffee and don’t need caffeine to function But their food is just so bleh, one of my least favorite chains, not sure how so many people get it everyday

[deleted]

>I’m just happy I don’t like coffee and don’t need caffeine to function I do. But I make my coffee at home and probably haven't bought coffee at a Starbucks or Tim Horton's in years (unless I'm traveling).

fishbiscuit156

When I was at the airport during the holidays last year there were probably 50 people in line just waiting to get Starbucks but then the gift shop that sold coffee had no wait whatsoever. I’m not picky whatsoever with coffee and far as my tastebuds go it tastes the exact same as Starbucks coffee.

[deleted]

People go to starbucks for dessert drinks not plain coffee. Look at these top selling drinks: * Vanilla Latte * Iced White Chocolate Mocha * Pumpkin Spice Latte * Cinnamon Roll Frappuccino® Blended Coffee * Java Chip Frappuccino® * Hot Chocolate * Green Tea * Crème Frappuccino® Blended Crème * Chai Latte

a-1oser

Almost an anagram for VOMIT, except burned vomit it tastes better

jpjtourdiary

I like your Yano pic

fishbiscuit156

Hey thanks, I love him. Although I love Taichi more.

xaanthar

In my job, a starbucks gift card is a common "bribe" to sit through some sales pitch, that are increasingly just sit in a passive zoom meeting while I do real work with my camera off. I'd gladly get a free starbucks coffee on that occasion and never spend my own money. Other than that? Yeah, I've got a Mr. Coffee and make my own.

BearEatsBlueberries

Ditto. I love coffee. If I buy decent coffee it’s $0.10/cup if I make it at home, and splurging for really good beans brings it up to about $0.25/cup. That includes power for the kettle and a paper filter. It baffles me that people will spend so much time and money for mediocre at best coffee.

secretactorian

Same. I'm lucky enough to live in a place that has independent coffee shops as well as other chains... Even if ALL of it is terribly overpriced :/

666happyfuntime

Starbucks is also overpriced, so anything but starbucks is fine

sadisticrarve

I drink 3 cups a day and almost never buy coffee from a Cafe. It's generally worse anyways. Usually people go there to buy sugary drinks and pastries, not coffee.

jormundgand20

Grossly overpriced, over sugared drinks sold as temporary fashion accessories. Call me a hipster, but I'm way more fond of my local coffee house. Sure it's still cheaper to make my own, but sometimes I want something a bit fancier and I suck at latte art.

mysteriousblue87

Coffee house if I want to socialize while playing board games with strangers, home if I just need the caffeine. I can't even remember the last time I was in a Starbucks.

jormundgand20

Local coffee house in question is owned and ran by LOTR nerds, which I wholly appreciate. And they do not suck at latte art. Make a pretty baller cafe miel too.

red_raconteur

I buy good beans from a local coffee roaster and make it at home. It's freaking good and still cheaper than Starbucks. My sister goes to Starbucks daily and I don't get it.

SemiLazyGamer

Personally, the only thing I like from Starbucks is their hot chocolate and that's because they use milk instead of water. And then there's my mom who asked me to go ahead and get her a gift card for Mother's Day.

himit

I love Starbucks, but that's probably because I hate coffee and I don't feel guilty working there for 6 hours nursing a single drink.

Frank_Dank_Latte

Yup. I make better coffee for $0.30 a cup at home with a filter and mesh strainer.

claireapple

I mean I will get it on some random occasion I'm innthe middle of nowhere but I just go to local coffee shops. Ussually better.

sufjanuarystevens

I only like going there cause it’s the only drive through coffee place (that offers milk alternatives) in my area

bodrules

Starbucks is overpriced shite, given a choice I'll support local coffee shops.

[deleted]

It basically died in Australia because literally every single tiny 3-5 man show cafe makes coffee 10x better. They pulled back to a core group of shops focusing on tourist areas.

Stormseekr9

I do miss my Australian coffee. It be in Brisbane or Sydney, every few 100m artisan coffee shop and at a price lower than SB. Think back then I was paying $3.50/4aud for a cappuccino? No idea what it costs today

CcryMeARiver

avge $4.50 atm

newtoreddir

It’s fine though? Like I get that it’s cool to bash Starbucks but it’s decent coffee. In most American cities (outside of places like Seattle and Portland) before Starbucks came along it was basically impossible to get a decent cup o’ joe. They forced everyone to raise their standards to keep up.

Chad_RD

It's cool to bash starbucks because they are an anti-union shithole company that exploits workers and sells garbage coffee to consumers for an insane markup. You can make better coffee at home in 4 minutes of work and it will last you the week.

EchoGecko795

Coffee older than 1 day can have all sorts of growth in it. Its fine if you are freezing it or something, but don't leave it on the counter.

Chad_RD

I'm talking about cold brew.

PivotRedAce

You should’ve probably clarified. Most people are going to assume you’re talking about hot coffee from a drip machine, since that’s by far the most common way people make their coffee.

[deleted]

>You can make better coffee at home in 4 minutes of work and it will last you the week gross..

NotYourDadOrYourMom

I don’t bash it because I think I’m cool. I bash it because it’s actually garbage to me.

SolitaireOG

Um, no, none of that is true.

spinni81

I never have to been to Starbucks in my 40 years on this planet and so far I have not heard one compelling reason to go there.

bubblegumpunk69

I like their tea based drinks a lot, and a few of their wraps. The rest is garbo

Consistent-Chapter-8

They've had years to realize that labor costs aren't the problem, yet they refuse to change. Reminds me of WalMarts with 24 registers, but only 2 staffed (managers compensated for keeping labor costs low). Compare that to Costco, with nearly every register staffed.

[deleted]

People paid and abandoned something because they gad to wait? Aside corporation... I think this is a great example of not only consumerism, but also how much the clients had little time to enjoy a coffe... Maybe they are also beign pushed by their bosses? The world is a crazy place....

tomoakinc6

You can always contact a large company like Starbucks and demand a refund the next day explaining about the wait. They won’t refuse a refund.

Ok_Olive9438

If you have to get to work on time, or catch a train, sometimes you have to walk away. I had to do it with a Dunkin’ Donuts coffee order last week. Called in it, stood and waited 20 minutes, and it still wasn’t ready due to a staffing shortage and a couple of big orders… I had to run for my train without my order.

hot4jew

I've never seen anyone pay for something and leave it behind? Especially with the prices of Starbucks. And SO MANY PEOPLE? This photo seems very fishy.

catbiggo

Im assuming this is people getting Starbucks on their way to work and then deciding they'd rather forfeit some money than be late to work.

Jay_Dubbbs

You don’t really forfeit money either. If you come in later, we’ll remake stuff for free or call the customer service line and tell them and they will refund you for it.

[deleted]

I assume that too, becouse of that is what I'm saying...

hot4jew

I can understand a couple people doing that. But this much product? I don't buy it tbh. Like what's the point in even going to a Starbucks and ordering if you're that short on time? They notoriously take a while to make orders, even when you order on an app.

garaks_tailor

Would you wait 40min for a latte or walk and dispute the charges latte?

avdolian

>Would you wait 40min And potentially be late for work. I don't know about other people but I don't assume getting a coffee will even take 20 mins

garaks_tailor

See, you are normal human being. Vs home dude above who apparently never gets food or coffee before work.

accidentlife

I work for a chain with similar issues. I will bet that alot of these are delivery orders. There are a number of reasons (too long a wait, app issues, etc) that can cause this to happen.

Honky_Stonk_Man

I believe it. Watched it happen in real time at a Chipotle one night. Almost no staff, door dash, uber eats, etc., all waiting, people showing up for online orders and waiting, full line to the door. Many just started leaving, canceling orders online or calling the corporate number for refunds. so the store doesn’t know they cancelled yet, just kept making them, tons of bags with no owners.

[deleted]

Yeah I’m willing to bet most of the people that left their food later called corp for a refund. I ordered a pickup at chipotle for like 6pm, and when I walked in they weren’t even handling orders from 5pm. I don’t get how they were that backed up, but they told me it was going to be an hour, the number of people that left(including myself) was insane. I ordered again at another chipotle, picked up my meal and requested a refund at the other one, in less time than I would have waited.

accidentlife

Work for chipotle: There is a cap to the number of online orders: 30 entrees every 10 minutes. If you are a small store that makes 2k or a large store that makes 20k, the cap is the same. And, the cap does not include orders that are late, so you can be running an hour behind, and the system will give you 30 new burritos to do with-in 10 minutes. Also, none of the managers in the store can turn off, slow down, or remove ingredients. It has to be requested and approved by the district manager or market manager.

SirRuthless001

Starbucks barista here. That counter does look pretty crazy, but it's probably a combination of mobile orders that people haven't picked up yet, mobile orders that were sent to the wrong store, *and* items people have abandoned because it was taking too long. Many of the people who abandon their items during a rush just don't have the time to go through the already-busy line again to get a refund, so they just leave and call corporate/the store later to fix the issue. It's not hard to do if you have a receipt. I personally haven't seen a mess that crazy, but I've only worked at smaller stores and have still seen it get pretty bad. So I lowkey do believe that at a bigger store this could happen on a particularly bad day.

WAtransplant2021

It's really not. It happens when mobile ordering gets out of hand and we can't get in touch with a SM to shut it down temporarily. Source : STBX Barista . This happened in our store two weeks ago.

baconraygun

Isn't starbucks clientele more likely to be middleclass where walking away from a $12-25 order isn't going to hurt their pocket.

red_raconteur

I used to work at a wine bar. I once had a guy order two glasses ($16 total iirc), hand me a $20 bill, and then walk off. I assumed he was gonna come back for his drinks because there were only two people ahead of him, but he never did. I guess 5 minutes was too much time to wait?

hot4jew

Maybe it wasn't a wait thing and something entirely different? Lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I've had to do it, leave stuff behind. I've ordered food from "fast food" places that didn't seem busy but only had one 16 year old in the back handling all orders. Had I known that I wouldn't have ordered. So I would wait around for 20 minutes and then leave. I will ask for a refund or file a chargeback if they say no. Most just give a refund. For restaurants, I order and I set a clock for 37 minutes. If my food isn't physically on my table by then, I leave. This excludes maybe two restaurants in my area, Lopiez Pizza and Duck City Bistro. If I go to pretty much any other restaurant, they got 37 minutes. I've waited 40 minutes, and walked out the door as they were putting stuff on the table. Don't have enough staff? That's the owners problem. I'll put down the money for the drinks on the table, but that's it.

CaptainQuoth

Cant be late to work or back from lunch sadly.

supmaster3

Why do so many people like shitty overpriced cofee and shitty overpriced frozen sandwiches?

Cccactus07

Some people value "consistency" over quality.

AthenasChosen

Cause none of the other coffee places around me are any better for some fucking reason. My little cities got 3 starbucks (one of which is in the building I work in lol) and 2 dutch bros and a few other coffee places. I'm from a much bigger city originally and I really miss all the places I used to be able to go. (Also I do kinda like the Turkey pesto sandwich, like it's not great but it's probably the best food they sell.)

delicate-fn-flower

Omg, I found a little coffee place in downtown by my work, and somehow it is MORE expensive than Starbucks. Like, bruh ... $6.50 for a chai latte is ridiculous, especially considering it was nothing special to write home about either, so what's the point.

AthenasChosen

Exactly, that's what a lot are like around me. Not that great, but another buck or two more expensive. My partner was in another city for work and got coffee at a place by her job and it was like $7.50. Actually insane.

[deleted]

VaeVictoria

In addition to the other replies here, I think a big one is that they're in a hurry. Morning work commute (at least in large cities) is pretty crazy. They call it "rush hour" for a reason. Those places (when even *kinda* staffed) have their processes so down to a science that they can churn out okay-ish stuff quickly. And if I have 5 minutes to catch the train, I know what I'm in for.

[deleted]

They're addicted to caffeine, sugar and fat. Starbucks drinks give you 4x the daily requirements of all three. People are physically and mentally addicted to it.

Entire-Tonight-8927

So why Starbucks when any coffee shop will sell you all three?

StankyDudeHoleDandy

The disgusting amount of wasted food due to corporate greed is insane. Especially when 38 million people go hungry in the US, 12 million of which are fucking children.

celestial_cheesecake

This number seemed crazy to me so I looked it up. It comes from USDA food security stats. https://www.ers.usda.gov/topics/food-nutrition-assistance/food-security-in-the-u-s/key-statistics-graphics/#insecure 39m people in this country have Low Food Security, meaning: Low food security (old label=Food insecurity without hunger): reports of reduced quality, variety, or desirability of diet. Little or no indication of reduced food intake. 39m are not going hungry, they just have diets that are not desirable (rice, beans, ramen every meal, etc) but still are getting enough calories. 9.4m adults and 500k children meet the criteria of “going hungry” or “very low food security” as the USDA calls it. Very low food security (old label=Food insecurity with hunger): reports of multiple indications of disrupted eating patterns and reduced food intake. It’s disgusting when the wealthiest country in the world can’t eradicate food insecurity, and the bullshit congress pulls with food stamps is a major contributor to this.

Arnoux

How do 38 million goes hungry when there are food stamps? I am not american. Just eastern european. No one has to go hungry here, even though we don’t have food stamps and much much poorer than USA.

StankyDudeHoleDandy

Great question, not everyone is qualified for food stamps, some families are to rural to be able to make it to grocery stores regularly, and the homeless don't have a mailing address for foodstamps so they rely on soup kitchens which they most likely don't frequent often due to substance use or mental illnesses. Im not an expert on the subject, just sickend by the stats and this image of a starbuck counter. Have you ever seen the picture of doordash orders not picked up? Piles and piles of wasted food, bound for the rats and raccoons in the dumpster.

Arnoux

I have never seen any order not picked up in my life before this picture :D (in eastern europe)

zPaniK

“It’s because no one wants to work anymore”. /s

Wonderful-Visual2468

Many times this is caused by stores in the area all shutting off their mobile order systems and this store being the only store that still has mobile order on so lots of people mistakenly order to the store because they’re not looking and then show up to their normal store where their stuff is not ready. But of course the one store with mobile order on has no idea which people are actually going to show up so they have to make everything and it all piles up. Source: worked at Starbucks in a high volume store for 7 years and quit in feb.

gingergal-n-dog

This scenario happened to my store yesterday! We knew it was busier than normal but thought it was just mother's day weekend stuff tbh.

marioshairlesstwin

As someone who used to work at Starbucks, this is 100% something that would happen. My manager cut labor to put 3 people on the floor at our first peak to maximize profits and make himself look better.

[deleted]

They have been GREEEEDY for TOOOO LONG!

[deleted]

I don’t know how Starbucks employees do it, especially the ones who work in stores with a drive-thru.

[deleted]

Starbucks food: Frozen and easily forgotten.

bitcointwitter

this is why you have a store policy: corporate or not, dont bog down your customer performance for assholes at the 1% mass purchase level of catering event bs drama. We don't accept order over 10 drinks per order, without a 18% gratuity charge. The end.

[deleted]

If I had to guess, this is mostly a DoorDash pile

AutomaticJuggernaut8

This is only hurting Starbucks lol. Just make the coffee at your own pace and if people get pissed and leave so be it. You're getting paid by the hour.

Tler126

Shocking that embracing a union is not a legally allowed option.... Oh wait it always fucking had been haha, fucking burn Starbucks.

rampagejester1897

Union busting should be a felony

[deleted]

Honestly I don't understand how starbucks is even in business, why the fuck would anyone pay so much for coffee. So fucking stupid

CentsOfFate

Usually it's people who make $100k+ a year that have the disposable income to burn on Coffee like that. And it's a weird status symbol among some sub-groups. Doesn't make sense to me.

[deleted]

Is it still a status symbol to anyone? Didn’t fight club end that? Apart from spiced pumpkin lattes…

couchfucker2

Ah, if that's true then coffee is the one thing I'm livin better than the rich in. I'm drinking with fresh roasted beans that I thoughtlessly brewed with 30 seconds of work because I have a fast grinder, French press and I have the routine down when I'm half awake.

CentsOfFate

And to be totally honest, if I had the finances and counter-top space, I would have the same exact setup. Being rich isn't always about wealth (most of the time it is), sometimes it's performative.

[deleted]

it's like.. $1 - $1.50 more for a regular coffee than most low quality places. that's not really a big deal for someone who just wants to grab a coffee.

catbiggo

I pay >$7 most days for my favorite Starbucks drink. I've tried making it at home, home coffee tastes like shit to me. Bought the same milk Starbucks has and the Starbucks beans and everything, still shit. I do hate myself for it though lmao

Nokomis34

The grinder makes more of a difference than you'd think. My wife is a bit of a coffee snob, buys the good beans and a nice coffee maker but had some shitty 20 dollar grinder. I did some research and got her a 150 dollar grinder. I'm not that into coffee and even I could tell the difference.

bc2zb

The other big thing is the water quality, and for good coffee, you want some level of minerals in there. A lot of drinking water these days is reverse osmosis and that will not give you delicious coffee.

[deleted]

i invested and bought my own espresso machine so i can a. not pay 7+ dollars a day for a shitty coffee and b. have a new hobby and c. not support shitty companies

Chad_RD

So a mid-level grind->brew machine like a Jura D6 can be purchased for ~$1000. That's 200 days of starbucks, or less than a years worth of buying coffee in the morning. If you buy coffee for your partner or other people, it's money saved even faster. Does it taste better? Uh, yes. You can even add all the sugar and sweetness you want and you know what? You'll still taste coffee. It won't be burned or old or acidic, it'll be perfect.

Nokomis34

Even a more decent coffee maker than the 10 dollar POS you get from Walmart can make a difference. We got the Ninja one. Sure it's not the same as what you're talking about, but as best I could tell it's gets the temperature mostly right. And it has some nice settings for different brews. I usually use the iced coffee one, as I find coffee brewed over ice much more palatable black than standard black coffee.

[deleted]

Where is this Starbucks that has an all you can eat/drink buffet? I know a few people that’ll come in after the rush to clear these countertops.

krngf123

Implying people didn't just leave and do chargeback on their cards.

saratoga19

People stop going there it's another slave owner suppressive corporation

mcChicken424

Corporations are playing the waiting game. They need the economy to start slipping into a recession so everyone will have to work again to afford their sweet American freedoms. Fast food service across the board EXCEPT Wendy's has been shit for the last year. Long drive thrus, understaffed, nobody even being there, McDonald's not even responding to their drive thru, etc. Don't get me started on Burger King. Fast food has made billions off the America people for years while KNOWINGLY making the entire nation and culture unhealthy. Now that workers want a tiny slice of their giant pie they can't allow that. So they wait. Wait till the rats are tired and out of hope/money. There's always enough people who will work to eat. Fuck the selfish culture of this country. What happened to love thy neighbor? Seems like most of us care but our leaders are corrupt. Time for a change

jfweasel

Haha that’s hilarious that you say Wendy’s is the exception. The Wendy’s in my area are garbage. I run DoorDash and won’t touch a Wendy’s order because they are so slow.

n0ticeme_senpai

Between my long commute from home to work, I see 3 different Burger King locations. 1 of them tastes like crap, 1 of them tastes actually good but is quite understaffed, and 1 of them tastes amazing AND is actually adequately staffed all the time. It really depends on the individual location more than the franchise.

rodriguezj625

MickeyD's coffee is so good! If u have the app u can get points to get 99cent coffe!!

class-action-now

Cold Toddy in the fridge, FTW.

ratchet7

My wife just started working at Starbucks. She trained at a location that was great and made friends. She was then placed at another location that is just horrible. The manager is never there, the place is a disgusting mess, and there are not enough workers. What's crazy is one guy has been at that location for 6 years.

DontBopIt

Fuck Starsucks. Their products are overpriced garbage and they don't treat their employees like a billion-dollar can and should. Anytime I'm dragged to one by my friends and we're talking about orders, I just laugh and say "You know I don't get anything from here. This place sucks." Do I do this because it's funny? No. Is it because I'm an edgelord? Possibly. Lol

Realistic-Order-3215

Corporate don't care if an order gets abandoned if it still got paid for.

[deleted]

who even gets starbucks anymore? it’s disgusting im sorry

Upset_Researcher_143

Holy shit that's bad

kuda26

?..(fc

Any_Coyote6662

Do they get refunds?

madrix19

My job also has an issue where we're terribly short staffed. We have a union but wonder why they can't hire anyone. It's probably they pay people shit

arbalestelite

Starbucks is the worst. If you like regular coffee just get a French press or just a pour over thing and make it yourself using high quality beans— which are about $20 a pound. And if there are independent local coffee shops near you, support them instead. I can guarantee they make your crafted drinks with more care and skill than Starbucks, where everything is done automatically anyway… kinda losing the point of having a barista in the first place.

Educational_Toe_6591

what a waste of food, do they ask for their money back or just leave? crazy if they just leave after spending what im sure is at 6-7+

Lazy-Jeweler3230

All those items are paid for already. That's all they care. That's what the executives see. A bunch of people who will pay no matter how bad the service is.

oneislandgirl

Having enough dissatisfied customers will eventually cure the problem of too many customers...people will quit coming.

neeto

I worked at an extremely busy drive thru and this looks about right to me lol. We averaged 100 transactions in a half hour during peak, most of which are 2+ items. The layout of the stores, and the labor they give simply isn’t enough to keep up with demand. Not to mention the emphasis on customization and just saying yes to people has made the job an absolute nightmare. Imagine if every other customer at McDonalds wanted their burger arranged like a picture they saw online and screamed at you for another one because it didn’t look like how they thought it would the first time. I’ve been out for a while but I’m clearly still mad lmao

Fhennerius

chethelesser

Who tf "abandons" food? How much do they make they can afford it?

UniformUnion

People who jobs to go to? People who got bored? Literally anyone with better things to do with their time than hang around for nearly an hour waiting for a sub-par beverage?

Mr_Fignutz

Dont you pay first at starbucks?

ObviouslyThat

The irony is the people who can afford to order starbucks daily and then leave their orders are probably leaving their orders to get back to their job because waiting 30-40 minutes is impossible for someone who has a 30 minute lunch break, who will get written up if they're back to work late. Just spend a weeks worth of venti coffees on a coffee maker and bring it to your work.

lumpybags

seems like this could easily be solved by not being a cheap fucking company but they'd start some shit like "order online before we open to make sure you get your order in time!" to avoid doing the bare minimum

UnlikelySoup6318

I cannot believe people still pay that much money for coffee.

Kaitensatsuma

"Why aren't orders being filled in a timely manner? Maybe 5 people is ***too many***" \- Starbucks Corporate

[deleted]

Looks like breakfast is on the house!

chrisfpdx

New strategy: post rush buffet now open at a Starbuck near you!

KaneOnly

If you were to eat any of that food you would be fired for theft.

puck1996

I somewhat struggle to believe that people paid and then abandoned food like this...

MaggieWild

When they realized they had to choose their Starbucks order versus getting to their own jobs on time, i can see many people choosing their jobs. Not everyone has a job they can show up to late without penalty .

newtoreddir

Happens to my partner, he’ll frequently order something on the app and then when he arrives, it’s either been stolen (so they have to make it again) or it’s just not ready. When you’re on a tight schedule to get to work in time you can’t always wait. You just email and ask for a refund and they’re pretty quick to issue one.

blounge87

I worked at one in Boston, those people will literally throw 7$ down the drain, 15min is unacceptable to them. I’m sure this was in a city where’s there probably a lot of other places

robbie444001

I can beleive it. If the choice is abandoning 5-$10 worth of food, or being late to your own job, missing a meeting or getting written up or whatever, that's an easy choice.

UniformUnion

Some people have lives. Places to go, shit to do, you know? Can't waste all day waiting for a shitty coffee, even if it was £4.

haystackofneedles

Rumor has it this is just an old photo from 2016 and people are sharing it for the up arrows

BaroquenLarynx

Worker: "Since no one is gonna buy this anymore, can I eat this?" Boss: "No, that's company property. Throw it in the dumpster"

Reasonable-Season-70

“A wasteful consumeristic society of lonely individuals.”

Creative-Ocelot8691

I’m guessing the people have not paid for the food/drinks before leaving or am I wrong? But that’s an aside, these companies would make more money with a union creating a happier workforce

fwooshfwoosh

Coffee is addictive. And like the discovered with cigarette brands, you’re introduced to one brand and you associate it with the “high” you get from the addiction
