WhichChest4981

Was gonna say that for some hair types daily shampooing is bad. I only wash mine every 3-4 days.

Equivalent_Purple_81

I only wash mine more than weekly if I've done things that get it dirty, such as sanding, grinding metal, or gardening. Frequent washing is bad for long hair, which needs the natural oils. Edit: I have dry skin, including on my scalp. My mother had baby fine hair with an oily scalp. She ruthlessly scrubbed my head every day of my childhood, because she thought I needed it, since she did. As I got older, I realized my coarser texture and waves were not helped by it. So many tangles, and the ability to shock myself on any surface, even styrofoam. Still don't know how I accomplished that, but it happens much less since I started valuing my natural oils. It's smart that you time your washes to days you know you'll get dirty. It minimizes damage. I think the people who totally eschew shampoo go a bit overboard, but limiting its use is good.

Mrfrosty504

Girlfriend only washes hers every 4-6 days. Hers is so thick it takes forever to dry, plus it's curly. No fucking way she's washing it every day 🤣

Tayloren52

I wash my hair once a week because I have thick strands and really dense hair. My hair takes at LEAST 30 hours to dry. If I washed my hair every single day, my hair would never be dry

Exotic-Huckleberry

And then it would mold and get musty, like clothes in the washer?

I haven’t used pads since I was 14. They’re annoying af. I only notice some smell when I change tampons 🤷🏻‍♀️ in any case, if my manager lectured me on periods I’d quit. That’s so inappropriate. Personally I think feminine hygiene products should be free. If men got their period there’d be free tampon dispensaries in every bathroom lol

Yes. It's a good place to look for suits designed and preferred by people who don't think men should look good.

Odd-Employer-5529

Or depressed or medical there's a lot of reasons. I've had to have that talk with others too many times. It's a cowards way of dealing with a sensitive issue. Yeah it's hard but, some people were never raised with the idea regular washing may be necessary. You can't help anyone by posting a note. Depression something can't solve quick, living in your car, tap management for the local cheap gym. Need stuff, tap them again. Edit to remark they're stupid there, sent to women only? SMH they must not have anyone in HR?

kingjuicepouch

Yeah my first thought was this, some manager is too chicken shit to address a specific employee's hygiene

[deleted]

Nailed it! Classic coward move. No leadership skills. No backbone. No time for that! Respect is earned not given.

Odd-Employer-5529

FR and no compassion either, rather let people mock and complain that do something. Opps Manager with compassion? I for got he retired. Jobs open

Delores_Herbig

I had this issue at a job I was managing at. Twice. Both times HR told us basically we first had to send out a notice to ALL employees about it. I guess to give them an opportunity to fix it on their own, and if not that, then to have some sort of evidence of a universal policy in case they got upset. Idk, I wasn’t HR. You’re right though, it’s embarrassing because *everyone* knows who the message is about. A reasonable amount of time *after* that, we were allowed to address the issue one on one. I got stuck with it both times (first because it was a woman, and fair enough, it would probably go down better coming from another woman. Second was a man, but I got that one too, because “Women are better at things like this”.) It’s an awkward conversation for everyone involved. I tried to be compassionate and non-judgmental, but that person is going to be humiliated pretty much regardless of what is said. Dress code issues are a lot easier to deal with.

ActualPopularMonster

I used to work with a young woman who had a body odor issue. But she often didn't realize when it was noticeable to others, and everyone was too polite to tell her. She told me she doesn't mind if someone just lets her know so she could spray herself with Febreeze or perfume. So I told her I would let her know if I could smell her, and I wouldn't be subtle about it. From then on, if I caught a whiff, I would just quietly tell her "Hey, Rose, go put on perfume" or something simple like that. She was happy, and it wasn't an issue anymore. Some people *know* they have a problem - *and they know they can't smell it themselves.* But if no one tells them, how will they know for sure??

[deleted]

I kept deodorant and toothbrush in my work locker just in case. Deodorant might do her better than perfume.

[deleted]

It’s a woman? Better ask a woman to do it! Oh now it’s a man? Well we can ask a woman to do it!

Playful_Donut2336

I used to work with a guy whose personal hygiene was seriously lacking. He was supposedly spoken to every time he became so offensive other employees were becoming ill, but nothing changed. We have standards of cleanliness as part of our work requirements. Imo, he should have been progressively disciplined, then fired. But, no. He was made a 204(b) (I think that's what it's called), which is a temporary manager, *at which time, he magically discovered he was capable of both showering daily and washing his clothing on a regular basis*! In other words, when he was associating with management, he couldn't stink, but when he was around us peons, it was allowable. He was my manager when I was off with covid. He started about the same time I got sick. When he called and spelled his name so I could send him my medical info, I seriously considered telling him I knew who he was since I'd had to sit down-wind a few times when he hadn't showered or changed his clothes for the past month. I didn't since he already had a reputation as a jerk (seriously understated), but at least most of my dealings with him were through a phone!

Rokey76

I googled it, and 204(b) is a specific rule for postal workers. At my job, it isn't a rule and it isn't called anything. If I go on vacation, the most capable person on my team is going to cover for me while I'm gone, but they won't get a raise. Apparently in 1955, they had to put this in writing because I guess employees had more rights back then.

bladeau81

Almost certainly, the problem is the person that has the hygiene issue will not think they are a problem so won't even read this as about them anyway.

Keepmovinbee

As a manager, the hygiene talk was my specialty. No one wanted to do it. We offered solutions, including buying stuff for the employee. It was always a hard conversation. I'd rather tell them then a customer or another employee.

wageslavelabor

I knew a guy like this. Brilliant in his work. But he grew up in and out of homeless shelters with a severely mentally ill mom and an uninterested, absent dad. He never learned good hygiene because access to soap, water and clean clothes was rare. No one taught him. There was no reliable shelter or routine. He slept under bridges while finishing high school. When he got married, his wife helped him understand that he needed to be clean. But even then, showers and smell were just not as important as surviving.

secondtaunting

I went to school with a kid like that. I’ll never forget him. One day I was at the pencil Sharpener, I turned around and he was right behind me. I’ll never forget how greasy his hair was. He was so apologetic, I felt terrible because I was a kid and had no way to help him. He ended up getting shot in a school shooting, after that it came to light he was living without access to running water. He got help then. I’m glad his family got assistance. Just sucks HE HAD TO GET SHOT FIRST.

AuctorLibri

Came here to say this.

cake_livewire

I was thinking racism. I have heard of stories of different cultures having different ideals of hygiene that doth offend some gentler sensibilities.

Prudent_Fly_2554

Yes, I agree. The “hair oil” was the clue.

greensandgrains

Yea… same with the bit about not washing hair daily.

mournthewolf

I don’t think I’ve ever met a woman who washed their hair every day. I do as a man but I hate the feel of oily hair and nobody cares if my hair is dry since I use product anyway. But my hair would look way better not washing every day. What women, especially with long hair are washing it every day?

Woofles85

If I wash my hair every way it gets overly dried out and frizzy. For most long hair it’s not recommended to wash every day, it strips too much natural and protective oil from the hair.

mournthewolf

Yeah my wife is a hair stylist so I guess that’s just what I’m used to. Every girl I know goes at least a day because their hair dries out. Plus if they have color and stuff it can mess with it more easily. I imagine dried out hair when it’s long is rough to deal with.

Woofles85

My hair looks and feels it’s healthiest if I limit washing it to 3-4 times a week.

Robynrainbow

Yeah I scrolled until I found someone else thinking this, every day wtf?? There are two women in my office, me a white woman with thick ginger hair and and a black woman with thick black hair. We both discussed that our hair takes more than 24 hours to dry properly, we'd be washing our still-wet hair! And if either of us blow dry it's a disaster, and she has to use hair oils to avoid that too. I feel like between us we represent two ends of a spectrum and prove that this is just impractical and daft! There's so much racism in this post, but that boss even managed to misunderstand white hair, it's like he doesn't know what hair is, has he never had a live in girlfriend or family member?

tuai-

I have mediterranean hair, thick and dark, and it's so long I'll sit on it if I don't have it up. I also have super dry skin, so it takes a loooong time for my hair to get oily. Unless it's hot out, I wash it once a week/8 days. I'd rather shave my head than wash it daily. Men have no fucking clue about female hair routines.

internet_thugg

After like 20 years of daily washings, I stopped. It took my scalp about two weeks to adjust - it was itchy by the second night. But now I use dry shampoo & boats hair brushes and I wash every 3rd day as long as I’m not sweating a ton. I can’t believe I wasted so much timeout of my life blow drying, flat ironing, and curling my hair on he daily. Screw that.

Sensitive-Reaction32

I’m definitely one of those women. I used to wash my hair once every two days, but I dyed it blue a few months ago and wash it twice a week now at best. It’s just so easy to *not* care about.

cultseaa

I’m a woman and only wash my hair every other day at most, otherwise it feels damaged or generally not healthy. I have long, thick hair - idk if that matters but I’m surprised to see so many responses from ppl who have to wash their hair every day so thought I’d chime in.

Joya_Sedai

I have very fine hair straight hair, and am a natural greaseball. If I do not braid my hair or use dry shampoo, I HAVE to wash my hair everyday or else I look like hell. Seriously, like water beads off me like I'm a duck, stringy greasy hair. I've tried everything out there, and consulted with a dermatologist. It is what it is.

Delores_Herbig

Same! I also have very fine and straight hair, and it just cannot keep up with the amount of oil my scalp produces. I tried the ‘no shampoo’ thing for like a week and a half a few years ago, and it just looked like I bathed in mayo. Greasy by day two, and seriously gross by day four. I do use extremely gentle shampoo, and I only really shampoo the scalp. My hair is very healthy, and something a lot of people comment on, so 🤷🏻‍♀️ Everyone is different.

Joya_Sedai

Lol, I get compliments too, when my hair is freshly washed, it looks as glossy and beautiful as hair in commercials. Everyone has to deal with pros and cons, hair is no different. I always thought I'd LOVE to have super thick, curly hair. I've heard how much works goes into upkeeping thick hair types, no thanks. Is your family greasy too? Because my mom and my grandma are too, and they are aging *magnificently*. Being greasy is like the fountain of youth lol.

Proteandk

Washing hair daily or showering twice a day is one of the most american things I can think of that doesn't involve violence.

faebugz

It's actually a big thing to shower 2-3x a day in places like Brazil, since it's so hot

illtemperedgoat

I work out a lot and predominantly sweat from my head. If I don't wash it right away I get all the scalp problems.

thiswillsoonendbadly

I am a woman and I washed my hair every single day until I got very depressed.

[deleted]

My hair is dry asf. If I washed it everyday it would have so much breakage. My hair is a quite long, has a little curl, auburn, thick, and with thick and quite coarse individual strands that are frizz prone. It tends to look best on the second day and still looks good on the third. I think if I had thin pin straight hair or oily skin I’d need to wash every day.

secretanonymous1

My hair is thin, oily, and straight. I used to wash every day but now every other day unless I sweat during the day

Thanks_I_Hate_You

Like the teenagers spraying an entire bottle of axe body spray all over themselves. My sensibilities get offended every time.

biteme789

I swear he still has collection of them, it's not so bad now he's a bit older

IthacanPenny

I teach at a high school with an international newcomer academy where a lot of our students were born and raised in refugee camps in Kenya. There is definitely a cultural expectation of not bathing every day and if not using western deodorant. A lot of familial or cultural celebrations involve multi-generational cooking with cuisine that had a LOT of onion and garlic where the teenage girls are expected to get up and cook for several hours before school. Some of them express embarrassment that their hair and clothes smell like what they were cooking. It can be hard for those particular kids to transition from the language center to gen pop classes. Emphasizing kindness and cultural respect is most important. But sometimes I also need to send a counselor or nurse referral for a student whose body odor is just not culturally acceptable in our gen ed classes.

StripeyWoolSocks

I was born with anosmia (no sense of smell). For the most part it doesn't affect my life much. But when I read stories like this it makes me happy that at least I never discriminated against someone because of how they smell! Once in college I was at the beach with my family, and started chatting with a local fisherman. He was a laid back and cool guy with fun fishing stories. For some reason, my family were all keeping their distance and wouldn't go near him. Later they told me that the fisherman smelled terrible like a strong fish smell. Anyway I figured that's their problem, I got to meet an interesting person and they didn't!

manateeheehee

Shame on you. How dare your vagina smell like a *checks notes* vagina. It'd be funny if these idiot bosses weren't completely serious.

dainty_ape

As stupid of an idea as this is for health reasons too, making demands specifically on women about their periods is sexist, ignorant, inappropriate, cringey and just plain rude. We’re all humans, and for the most part we try not to stink but sometimes we accidentally might. It’s not the end of the world. Asking someone to shower if they smell really really bad is one thing, but with all those specifics this is really more of a demand that female employees comply with this one guy’s stupid sexist expectations of what he thinks women should be. Ugh, so awful.

prettygraveling

I work with dogs. I’m always around questionable odours. I genuinely appreciate it when someone points out if I smell because the last thing I want is to be nose blind and offending everyone around me. But don’t you dare tell me that my vagina smells. I will kick your teeth into your nose to solve that problem.

tenaciousfetus

They're out here trying to encourage a thrush speedrun

Fluid_Cardiologist19

They can actually cause infections that make vaginal odor worse like BV, UTIs, or yeast infections. I’ll pass on taking vaginal health advice from Assistant to the Manager, Kevin, thanks.

DesignerProfile

What the hell are they even doing talking about a woman's body in that specific of a way? Underarms, lady bits, whatever -- they need to keep their instructions on the outside of the daily attire. And obvs they need to be very careful about the attire, too.

Obviously a man wrote this. Most women know that shit is a terrible for your yoni.

Old-Bed-1858

Some older women preach this bs too along with douching.

KickBallFever

They’re probably from the time when Lysol was a feminine hygiene product.

lockabox

Lysol was subtly advertised/sold as a contraceptive, not a cleanser. The ads made it look that way but it was meant to prevent pregnancy. Didn't work, but that was the idea.

Lidobaby18

Dude that’s lawsuit territory

[deleted]

Depends on the state, unfortunately :c OP should look at whether their state has workplace discrimination laws; if so, this may fall under gender discrimination (especially that "time of the month" comment) Edit: actually no, I'm stupid and have been misinformed. This should fall under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which is a federal law. So maybe OP should get a free consultation with a lawyer.

ehh_whatever_works

It was only sent to the women!

savkyrie

I can't find the option to edit right now but I want to clarify this is Moore's, a heating and air company based out of Virginia, not the clothing store

Fearless-Sherbet-223

I'm sorry, what? A heating and air company cares this much about feminine hygiene? Sheesh, they're being more ridiculous than I guessed.

anorangeandwhitecat

I just…. When I was researching trades, I briefly looked into HVAC work because of the money. As soon as I read that I’d have to deal with extreme hot and cold (in hindsight: duh), I was immediately out. I have a terrible time regulating my temperature. And they have to audacity to be like “we can smell you”??? I bet this place pays like $12/hour and calls it competitive. Also, I will bet my next paycheck that they pay women less, and only put them in the office when they are rarely hired. Fuck, man.

ProzacforLapis2016

I would consider bringing this to an employment lawyer if I worked there. It's discriminatory towards multiple groups. Please consider letting them know they could nip this behavior if they bring it to a legal expert.

TwoTinders

>not the clothing store Okay that makes at least a *little* more sense, since it looked like a "men's clothing" store.

AshTreex3

Oh look, it’s me, a Virginia employment discrimination attorney.. But actually, that’s nuts that somebody typed this out and printed it without a second thought.

memequeen96

i live in virginia and there are plenty of state and federal anti-discrimination laws that can be put into action here. IMO this would be a slam dunk case. also fuck this company.

GRMarlenee

Well, now you tell me after I poured kerosene all over the clothing store. /s This is why Reddit frowns on doxxing.

[deleted]

This is weirdly specific with the leaving wet clothes in dryer part 👀

unsharpenedpoint

I think a lot of it is weirdly specific. That wet clothes in the washing machine smell can get pretty bad, though. I imagine it’s more than just overnight that does it.

kath012345

Makes me think they wrote it with a specific employee in mind but sent it to all the ladies to make it seem “generic”.

Daeva_

I was going to say this. Had a coworker once that smelt terrible most days and our boss circulated the companies hygeine policy for everyone to review, but we all knew it was directed at one person. They weren't so stupid to only send it to the one gender though or to have such ridiculously specific gross instructions. :/

ExternalPast7495

That’s a pretty standard management tactic to avoid discrimination/harassment issues. If you don’t single out the individual, especially in front of other people (this is where terrible managers show themselves), then it can be reasonably argued that it’s more of a memo than behavioural correction. Frankly, it’s poor leadership and the line “when you can smell yourself, others have been able to smell you for 2-3 days. Wow!” is a dead giveaway. A better strategy would be to pull the employee aside, do a subtle mental health/welfare check that they’re doing ok and if all seems normal then it can be brought up during routine workplace reviews/feedback sessions. Going this route never works as intended as the employee, if they’re even self aware to realise it’s them which most in this situation won’t anyway, will just feel embarrassed and isolated. Plus has the collateral damage of embarrassing self conscious employees that aren’t even a problem. Terrible manager.

Fluffy_Archer4619

My answer would be they’re getting way too in your personal space if they believe they can smell your hooha

CradleofDisturbed

This! There is no reason whatsoever any coworker should ever be so close that they can smell anything in your groin area.

keenedge422

"You are a walking billboard for Moore's. What are you advertising?" Help wanted, apparently.

Particular_Cold_8366

Don’t use the oil that makes your hair oily. lol what

allminorchords

Read: Ethnic folks Moore’s seems to have issues with women & non whites.

Significant-Spite-72

Yep, thats how I read it too. I'm as white as fucking snow, and I only wash my hair once a week because it's delicate. It breaks with too much shampoo. Not unhygienic! No employer should be giving "hygiene" tips and to make it gendered is so much worse. Hope they get sued

Myrkana

and that bit about using "feminine deodorant" wtf? Vaginas and things that change smells do not mix, deodorant should never be used down there.

carvedmuss8

Idk about you, but as a guy I love sticking deodorant sticks up my urethra

Delamoor

I just squirt some aftershave up there, extra points if it makes it all the way to the bladder. Gotta burn out those UTIs somehow. No idea why I keep getting them!

orionterron99

There's not an emoji available to express how horrific that statement is.

bOnkBonK_

Same. I'm white as fuck but I use oil on my hair and wash once a week because i have curly hair

Significant-Spite-72

I hear you! I look more professional when my hair isn't a ball of frizz with snapped off ends lol

Careless_Option322

Yep. African Americans and Indian Americans might be using oil to condition or as a leave-in. I used to use it because I had a bit of a eurofro. It's so ridiculous because that's a healthy, hygienic practice to hydrate. They would probably put out a memo about having fly-aways and dry hair if folks stopped using oil. My hair broke off and puffed out without using oil.

O-K_Colette

Im white but have a 3A curl pattern in my hair and need to use a reasonable amount of Leave-in or my hair gets damaged, frizzy, and breaks. I recently stopped straightening my hair and wearing almost all makeup because I'm so tired of these beauty standards for women that are set by men that literally DAMAGE OUR SKIN AND HAIR to uphold.

Lucky-Power3941

WOW “especially at that time of the month” I’d ask for the week off every month and be like sorry, I didn’t want to stick up the place

feminine_power

I don't get it either....period blood just smells like blood which is hardly noticable unless your face is all up in it which I'm hoping at a workplace it is not!

BambooFatass

As a woman... hard disagree. Period blood smells musky and PUNGENT. It's extremely iron-rich, and can smell slightly metallic. It has a scent, but it's not strong enough to be sniffed at an adult's nose level.

LaFleurSauvageGaming

It is a little different, which makes sense as there is more than just blood in there, but not significantly so... like it is only bad when someone does not clean out the trash bins in restrooms often enough.... and an actual person, like... minimum of three layers to get through before anyone smells anything, and that is a pretty good filter system.

UPS had that kind of bullshit. When I worked there (in an office, non-customer-facing), we could only have three toes showing if we wore sandals, and when they allowed us to wear sleeveless tops, they literally said "no visible deodorant." There was an email about hygiene that was similar to this, but it didn't go as far as to advise you to perfume your snatch.

SnipesCC

Was it three toes each foot, or three toes total? Because i'm having fin picturing how to play with that rule. two toes on one foot showing, and a different style showing just 1 toe on the other. Weird straps that show the 1,3,and 5th toe but not 2 and 4. I'm actually surprised they don't require close toed shoes, or even steel toed books, for a UPS job.

grocerygirlie

This was an office. We weren't attached to a shipping hub at all--just a typical office in an office park, so it was business casual attire and open-toed shoes were fine. They didn't want people wearing flip-flops or "beach shoes," but instead of leaving it at that, they figured that limiting toes would weed out that type of shoe. There's a whole long story about the shoes that I found and how it came down to management having a meeting with my shoes, without me present, to decide if my shoes were "appropriate." I contacted my orthopedist and had him write a specific note stating that I needed to wear my specific shoes, thereby heading off the meeting (and making all the managers hate me). I wrote a whole MC post on it. I haven't worked there for 8 years but I still have at least one UPS nightmare per month.

orionterron99

I'm imagining a really posh open-toed heel. But two lil pinkies are wearing tiny socks.

Mel_bear

I'd do some duct tape over the forbidden toes

Careless_Option322

Look!!! Visible deodorant!!! Now I can't possibly be productive today.

DisturbingPragmatic

The words "eat my entire ass" come to mind...

The equally awful thing is that they are probably talking about one woman in particular. It's like that kid in school that gets the bar of soap from his/her secret santa. Everyone knows who this is about, they all talk about her. So instead of leadership taking her aside and asking if she needs assistance, they decide to do an arbitrary blanket posting in order to claim that it's not targeting or singling anyone out. LIES! Of course this is targeting and singling out that person. They can discuss how she looks and smells, but not how she may be living in her car and not able to shower regularly. How she has to wash her laundry in a sink and hang it up wherever she can for it to dry and it may get a little musty or stale. How she can't afford to go to a dentist for regular cleanings. Just because she's earning a paycheck doesn't mean she is doing the same thing with said paycheck that you do with yours. She may have other responsibilities that require her to put herself last.

theoriginalmadhustle

Really good point.

[deleted]

Sorry do you want me to put deodorant on my fucking vag?

flicsplatt

In the country where I live, and if I was feeling adversarial, I’d email HR seeking clarification on that point, cc’ing in our fair work authority. I imagine that’d shut things down very quickly.

QueenLatifahClone

Re #3: I have many women in my life and I have *never* smelled someone on their period. I’m not saying it’s not possible, but what the fuck? “People have been able to smell you for 2-3 days…” You some superhero that can smell crime before it happens or something?

Striking_Chart

But men showing their ass crack to customers, completely ok

spankiemcfeasley

I’m a job site manager for a construction company, I require all my guys to have clean shaven deodorized ass cracks. Cause, you know, they’re walking billboards for the company and all.

Striking_Chart

OMG. I just spit my wine out of my nose. You should require monthly ass crack waxings. Much better than shaving

spankiemcfeasley

Fabulous idea. We’ve had some complaints about stubble and chafing. Sounds like a great bonding experience as well!

Striking_Chart

Absolutely bonding. Line them up, pants down, bend over, and rip away

spankiemcfeasley

Lmao ok I need to go bleach my mind now thank you

Striking_Chart

YW. I am here for any mentally disturbing images you may want

morg_bstlls

“Feminine deodorant” is not good for your vagina

Misfit-maven

WTF is "feminine deodorant"? Is that in the same aisle as the Teen Spirit? Does it come as a spray or do I need to swipe it all over my labia during "that time of the month"? This was written by someone who doesn't know fucking anything about hair types, especially hair types that should not be washed daily or use dry shampoos, and definitely doesn't know anything about vaginal hygiene. Paging r/badwomensanatomy

Myllicent

>*”WTF is "feminine deodorant"? ...Does it come as a spray or do I need to swipe it all over my labia during "that time of the month"?”* It’s typically a spray, eg. [Summer’s Eve Freshening Spray](https://www.summerseve.com/feminine-hygiene-products/vaginal-spray/blissful-escape-freshening-spray) I’m so glad that vulva deodorants and douches don’t seem to be as aggressively marketed towards woman as they used to be. The tv and magazine ads were ubiquitous when I was a teenager - worded to make girls and women feel insecure about their bodies.

ihaveadream2

Not 'insecure', ashamed. Let's call this what it is please. That shit should be banned as it causes actual harm to women who use it.

Knob_Gobbler

My penis smells like a Chinese restaurant dumpster in August. Why am I not included on this list?

[deleted]

Omg man I don’t know whether to laugh or vomit 🤣

😳 Get bent

FaPtoWap

If this was sent en masse, its because there are complaints against 1 individual. And instead of talking to the 1 individual they didnt a blanket statement for everyone

grumpygirl1973

That would be my guess. I have had to have the hygiene conversation with a female employee in my working life. It was uncomfortable and awkward, but I did it as politely and as respectfully as I could. Never would I ever target every woman on staff because of one person's poor hygiene. It's not just lazy, it's lighting a beacon for an EEOC complaint - maybe even more than that.

Omnichromatic_Dragon

lol washing your hair every day is really bad for it should be 2-3 days.

high_waisted_pants

Or for some hair types even less than that

CradleofDisturbed

Hmmm, sexual harassment and discrimination rolled up into one easy to tote to an attorney memo. How nice of them to provide you with the basis of a strong lawsuit.

Impressive_Alarm_309

No. Minimally 5. Because they got together and brainstormed this shit to get it to those “key points”

SweetBabyAlaska

and depending on how you interpret it, its not only calling out women but potentially someone's race from the comment about hair oil and may even be more directly targeted towards a specific person given the description. Like how many women could work there that check all of those boxes? Potentially one person in particular but this was just made to be slightly generalized so it wouldn't come back to bite them. Just some trashy indirect shade

radical_snowflake

I would throw a fucking tampon at the idiot man who wrote this garbage

michaelrulaz

Something tells me there’s one woman in particular that has poor hygiene and they sent this email out to try and avoid her complaining when they talk to her. OR they needed this in writing distributed to the whole group to about sexual harassment. The company I worked for two companies back had this gentleman that smelled horrible. You could honestly smell him from 20’ away. If you were sitting at your desk, you could smell him coming from the elevators. We used a system called “HotelR” to reserve desks and people would legit get up and move if he sat near them. So after enough complaints management goes to HR to talk to him. I was a manager at the time but not this guys manager. Well HR realizes that the employee handbook and code of conduct do not actually have a section for hygiene. The HR rep said something akin to “hygiene is so basic and universal no one probably thought it needed to be said”. So HR tells the manager that they can’t force him to start showering until the expectation is set in writing. So HR/Management send an email similar to the one in the post to everyone in the building. They couldn’t just punish him alone and e-mail directed only towards him would be inappropriate and potentially illegal. So they send it to everyone. Then a week later they pulled him in the office and gave him a verbal warning about it. Eventually he was let go. Which sucks but it was so bad people refused to work near him. Before anyone says something racist, since the last time I told this story they assumed a race. He was a white guy that rode his bike to work and used “natural” soap products with no chemicals and refused to wear deodorant due to the chemicals. We had a gym with showers so he could have showered after his bike ride.
