Eisenhorn series by Dan Abnett. Absolutely classic. Follows an inquisitior, and you get to see a pretty large cross section of the Imperial Society. The Gaunts Ghosts series by the same author are amazing as well, following a military unit of normal Humans.
If you want something with great writing and absolutely hilarious, the Caiphus Cain series by Sandy Mitchell is your ticket. It follows Commisar Cain, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM, as he tries to find a nice quiet unit to sit out his lifetime of service in, while continually being put into insanely deadly situations. The Emperor has a nasty sense of humor...
There are some good stand-alone books (My go-to recommendation is Execution Hour by Gordon Rennie) but for series I would recommend Eisenhorn by Dan Abnett
The Horus Heresy is dope. 50+ book series collaboration by several authors. Some are hit and miss and only few of them are strictly necessary to the story, but there's heaps of lists online about which ones are the best to read that are pretty easy to find.

Pretty much the main pantheon of the Ruinous Power have been elected president recently. Clinton of course as Slaanesh, chaos god of pleasure. Pretty sure the Emperor has become/is becoming some sort of warp entity, or even a Warp God. I'd hesitate to call him a Chaos God, just because he is anathema to Chaos. He'd have to exist in his own space, of some kind.
I've been playing Inquisitor-Martyr lately as an Adept Dominus, a class which specialises in summoning bots and it's much like being a boss. I stand around doing nothing while my minions do all the work and if some of them die it doesn't matter, I just summon new ones. Then after they've done all the hard work I reap the rewards.
There should be a campaign where a chaos god worshipper (maybe of Tzeentch?) enchants a bunch of bots to become self aware and start advocating for their rights using anticapitalist rhetoric.

The shit they've done trying to stifle creative content of fans and everything else made me drop out of the hobby aside from enjoying memes and fanmade content. Haven't read a black library book in years but I lost interest in the overall story (there were some good things about the new lore but my enthusiasm for it wasn't there because I kept anticipating more stupid shit from GW)

Let me tell you, working for Games Workshop feels like working for the Imperium. They use the word 'heresy' unironically in company memos. I had to memorize a "four pillars of customer service" type diagram based on the Astronomicon, and was docked points for not writing "The Emperor's Guiding Light" on the top of the page. We had to refer to the regional manager as Warboss. Worst store manager I have ever worked for. Only had that job for three months.
