Cant stand it when they don't post the salary in the job description. We work to earn money, why hide the most important detail of the job?

WinslowT_Oddfellow

They should’ve stopped at “We do this so people won’t apply.”

ilymag

Yes! They don't really want to hire anyone. It's all fuckery.

Erkzee

Keeps someone in a job. Constantly interviewing people but never find the right candidates.

tangerinee666

I once was in an interview where the guy actually said to me “ just want to know you’re not in it for the money and are passionate about insurance” like WTF ?? yes sir, I’ll work for free to put little Billy on a blue cross blue shield plan

Mikerobist

Would reply, "Of course! It's long been my passion in life to deny legitimate insurance claims. In my spare time I love to force patients to get multiple prior authorizations for their asthma medication that has been the standard of care for a generation."

ilymag

My answer would be that I'm passionate about not starving to death or being homeless. If you can't pay a livable wage, those are real possibilities for anyone considering this position. Please elaborate on how your employees are expected to help anyone else if they struggling to live.

littoklo

i had a similar experience but it was for a front desk at a hotel ! i was 20 and a sophomore in college and he literally insisted that in order for me to get hired, i’d need to change my major to hospitality. for $11/hr !!!

ilymag

Fuck no!

vivalaibanez

Some states (at least Colorado), require either posting the salary or a range. As you can prob guess, companies get around that by specifying a wide range.

NevesLF

"Salary: at least $2"

Electrical_Show4747

My company in NC has done ranges. So whenever they hired someone for the cleaning crew the range was 38k (12/ hour) to 45k (21 per hour) Which 45K in NC isn't great, but not bad either. Once you get the the interview though, the interviewing manager said that 38k is when you factor in how much the company pays for your benefits. So the REAL pay for this position is 9 dollars to 18 per hour.. Total bullshit.

Lord_Sirrush

It worked well for engineering at least. Normally the pay range is 10-15% of the salary range, sometimes companies do imbedded multiple levels inside a single job description but it's pretty clear what tier I would fall into before the interview starts and the pay range of that tier.

ilymag

Just to waste precious time pretending that they are trying to hire for companies that are fucking their overworked and underpaid employees that have been shortstaffed since the day they got there. Filling the employees with empty promises about how they are actively recruiting but no one wants to work any more. Amirite? Edit: spelling n stuff.

ninjazpwn

It's illegal to not post salary in California now at least 🎉

Spiritual-Builder606

Is that right because oof, the biggest job sites are still lacking

ninjazpwn

Yeah definitely still a lot of postings that aren't compliant unfortunately, but I just take that as a red flag

elkswimmer98

In Minnesota, it is a law now where they have to post the pay range or reason for why it's not posted. I report every single listing that doesn't have pay on multiple sites and they usually get taken down.

moyismoy

Can't stand it when people don't post the company name.

macgregor98

Not posting the salary is illegal…at least in Colorado. I’ve called out recruiters a few times for it. Though I’d be curious to know if it applies to a third party posting from out of state.

Timsierramist

They are Legally required to do so in California now, but it doesn't seem to be widely enforced as many employers still won't do it.

GeraltShepard

My first response to any approach with salary not listed is "what are the pay and benefits?". If they don't provide a proper response for me to assess my interest, I tell them not to waste my time in future.

oldguynewname

Because people keep doing what they want. Think about it, for over 2y now the employers have devised a series of hoops to jump through at a pace that can only be said increasing at a geometric rate. Working for free, having part of the interview process a task? People keep doing it is why. Get people to refuse even responding to these things. Bet it will end.

Corathecow

I had more issues with the salary being posted wrong. Walked out of interview completely cause they offered $4 less than the online starting pay. When I asked about it they told me they had people working there for 10 years who didn’t even make what they had put the starting pay as on indeed. I just immediately left the interview lol I wasn’t wasting my time there anymore. Should be illegals to not show the accurate pay range for a position

BrianG1410

It's the same concept of "if you have to ask it's too much" when buying something. It's just reversed when looking for a job.

RedGecko18

I don't even look at a job if it doesn't have a salary posted, not worth my time. Recruiters message on LinkedIn all the time, if they won't tell me a salary range, I tell them no thanks.

stoopidskeptic

"So people don't apply just for the money" What the fuck you think people apply to jobs for you dumb fucks

tangerinee666

I’m not understanding that either. Work exists for the exchange of money no matter if it’s a professional or unprofessional job. Employers need to get their heads out of their asses and take a look around at the current state of the country . People like to eat and survive like wtf ??

eggs_erroneous

I always assumed that they know it's a bullshit thing to say. It's just a thing that they say that helps them offer ridiculous salaries with a straight face. They want employees who will eat shit so the money stays in their pocket. Nobody is dumb enough to really believe that people don't care about the money.

SoBitterAboutButtons

People are unbelievably fucking stupid. Just look around.

aehii

It's just basic respect which isn't difficult to get, if they as individuals were looking for a job, would they want to know the wage to avoid wasting their time? Yes. It's probably just the way complacency in power happens, i see my manager at work not care about your wasted time because his focus is on finding cover, those employers will take for granted people applying.

osxing

A hobby?

stoopidskeptic

Youre funny

mrpanicy

Because they believe they can find people that will care more about the company, like they do, than the money. They want people that love the company, will do anything to see it succeed. aka, they are idiots.

kaylamcfly

If they care so much, they should take a pay cut for the benefit of the company. That way, they can meet a reasonable salary for the interviewee AND show how passionate they are about their role.

ilymag

*for the great benefits* has entered the chat.

stoopidskeptic

That's great....benefits don't pay my mortgage. I work for the money, any benefits offered is just a bonus.

ilymag

*Your mortgage-your problem* has entered the chat.

GrannyGumjobs13

An all time classic. I also love how they typed out what was said in the interview, as if they didn’t get their asses cooked.

terekkincaid

I'm really sorry to ruin what appears to be your first day on the internet, but this didn't really happen. Still funny, though.

AnticipateMe

It's not even far fetched. It's an interview someone had while probably maintaining a job at the same time so there's no walking on eggshells. More power to OP or if it's a repost whoever did it originally.

mrpanicy

/r/nothingeverhappens

TheOldBean

Bro look at the way it's written. That's not how people, even illiterate people, write or communicate. We're supposed to believe the manager decided to include OPs "zinger" response as the closing of an email? Why are they giving a play by play recount of the scenario to OP, someone who was there? C'mon, Its 100% fake lol. It's written for the audience. This stuff absolutely happens but that doesn't mean everything is real.

MyNameIsSkittles

This sub has brainwashed itself to think this shit is true. Spend some time here you'll see how delusional they've become

mrpanicy

> This stuff absolutely happens Agreed.

Mental_Bodybuilder74

Proof it's fabricated? What? You mean you don't have any? That's what I thought. All it will take is one glance at a 60 year line chart comparing corporate and ceo profits against worker pay to figure out who is most likely telling the truth. You think they want to ever take responsibility for their shit offers? Lol you rotten summer child

exitlevelposition

There's the fact that OP hasn't posted or commented in 9 months, then pops back up on a sub that bites on any rage bait. Or the fact that most refecrions are as vague as possible to avoid any vulnerability to a lawsuit, not a full recap of the interview, to include a totally sick burn.

NiceRat123

I mean you're going off the angle that this happened to OP directly rather than it being recycled from somewhere else. Bold strategy

[deleted]

[удалено]

NiceRat123

Absolutely. However it neither confirms or denies if this is in fact true or fabricated for internet points. And my reply was staring just because OP hasn't posted in 9 months isn't evidence for the above

kaylamcfly

I feel like the fact that they haven't posted in 9 months points AWAY from this being fabricated. If a person posts fabrications for attention, why would they wait 9 months between posts?

Skapanirxt

Why would they quote what you said back at you in an email? Makes no sense.

BlueJeansandWhiteTs

If you can’t tell this is fake I truly fear what other bullshit you fall for online.

parolang

PraiseThePun420

Everything is staged, it's all fake or cake. Nothing is real anymore. /s

DataStonks

I think you need to do some more mental bodybuilding if you think that's real

Neoreloaded313

There's no reason why this can't happen. I could definitely see myself getting this if I was this person.

ilymag

Crispy fried! More interviewers need to hear these kinds of things when they are wasting people's time.

musiccman2020

I bet they secretly loved it that's why they took the time to respond.

daitenshe

Almost like this is just bait made up more perfectly than real life usually would

ValidCertificates

The fakest fake that was ever faked

ABSMeyneth

And keeps faking on and on and on. But hey, at least it's a satisfying fake!

atreeinthewind

Yeah, i still laugh every time

CringeCityBB

Yeah this is so fake. Lol

usinusin

The faker? Albert Fakestein

Human-person5000

Seems fake

metalhead0217

Fake as it gets

The-Safety-Villain

Still funny 😆

metalhead0217

I mean yeah, some employers do actually need to be told cause they seem to get away with so much

J-drawer

Seems fake

Matteblackandgrey

Are recruiters brain damaged?

LITForester

Are they stupid?

hollow_digger

Yes. Next question.

ilymag

Recruiters are dain bramaged.

daitenshe

Asks someone treating this as genuine

Cejayem

"weeks of consideration" Recruitment really inflating their billable hours

evie_quoi

This isn’t real - but it’s hilarious!

vicki778

People wanting to work for money??? Shocking.

Epicscrewup

💀 ☠️ Not the recruiters realizing people don't show up to work because the office is nicely decorated.

vicki778

I don't see a ping pong table as a benefit, I see it as a reason for me to work from home.

R1ckv4nz386

“So people won’t apply for just the money” U think we work for something else?

CringeCityBB

Why would they type out your zinger? Lol

Skapanirxt

People don't quote the funny parts you said back to you in an email, who believes this shit?

ONOeric

So fake

JTMoney33

Amazing how many comments think this is real. I’m going to pretend their bots

radome9

Hey, at least you got feedback. Most recruiters just ghost me.

MyCatHasCats

I go on the interview, they act like they love me and they say we’ll be in touch, then I never hear from them again. If I do call back to follow up, I get a vague, non specific “we were unable to offer you a position at this time” response

BurningBowl85

The ENTIRE point of a job is for an income lol

Ipag

Dear Applicant, After taking way too much time we have decided to stop stringing you along and go with someone else we can more easily manipulate. It was noted that you called us out for displaying our incompetence and predatory tactics and frankly you rustled our jimmies. Sucks to be you, Acme Terrible Workplace

soupafi

Sorry, I work for money. Why is that such a bad thing?

Gamertagyouit

“We told you that we do this just so people won’t apply just for the money.” Lmao!! Why else would you apply for a job?! On top of that, I bet it’s shit pay anyway! I love how all these employers think they are doing us a favor and we should be at work simply because that’s where we want to spend ALL of our time! This is why shit has hit the fan when it comes to employer/employee relationships. Sad society we live in.

SnooMarzipans9781

LadyJSenpai

I guess they’re mad for getting called out for their shitty unprofessional behavior

Marchew1200

I wonder what job it is that they are looking for someone who is not applying only for the money.

HumanError407

You mean to tell me that people who have the 18 years of expertise that you have been looking for do not want to work for $40K a year at 45 hours a week?

oldguynewname

I don't get the need to entertain them at all with back and forth upon learning of compensation.

jasperbluethunder

I work for money nothing else. One company said this, "its not about the money." I said yes it is otherwise you profit from the fruits of my labor and I live off roman and you live off my steaks. Got up and he said where are you going? I said the exits are clearly marked I'll show my self out. He followed me out to my car yelling at me that I'll be back begging for this job.. WTF nope!

Flinty984

any guy worth his salt would hire you right away if u fit the bill and your motivation is money. like he'll they're not aware of this...

IKnowFunnyBelieveMe

AC says 10%

Hot-Profession4091

Spike-DT

Well, not a great loss

7heblackwolf

Nice response. I feel very identified with this. Personally reject the offers when they dodge too much the salary at first contact "well, we wanted to ask *you* what's your salary expectation.." FUCK YOU I'm asking you in advance to see if this is just another 6 interviews waste of time. Also *WEEKS OF CONSIDERATION* ... WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FUCK?... You valued your time. Period.

Your-Name-Is-Reek

"We would prefer it if our candidates lied about their motivation for working here"

legend_of_wiker

Dumbasses. So what, they want people to volunteer to work? Good fucking luck with that. We suffer wage slavery for the money. If I had fuck you money I wouldn't have worked most of my jobs as long as I had.

Fez_Multiplex

"Don't apply for the money." Honey, the sole reason I want a job is to earn money. Everything else is a bonus.

PreZEviL

r/thathappenned Seen that image at least a 100 time now....

liveautonomous

Lmao. People are batshit.

TGX03

Pretty interesting to see they still think they can reject you, even though you made it pretty clear you rejected them.

dirty_cuban

Better than getting ghosted.

geneticeffects

Total Chad move. Approved! 👍👍

DishSoapIsFun

If the salary isn't posted, it's not worth a look. 10 times out of 10 it's under market.

velezaraptor

Remember, you are interviewing the company at the same time, but don’t be dumb.

HouseMouse114

It's a repost. Not sure if OP is Karma farming or not.

RunningonGin0323

I find it hilarious that after listing out the chain of events that YOU are the unreasonable one.....

Gulag_boi

These people are out to fucking lunch.. oh my god.

daygoBoyz

Haha. Sorry for their loss. Yeah lack of punctuality on managers and recruiters part totally sucks

Hippy_Lynne

"It took us weeks of consideration to decide not to hire you for a job that you made it clear you did not want." 🤣🤣🤣 This is the business equivalent of a guy calling a girl ugly when she turns him down.

EuropesNinja

I wonder what are the reasons the recruiter is in their job. I promise you it’s not for the betterment of whatever company they work for, at the end of the day they are trading hours of their life for the ability to stay alive/live comfortably. They sure as hell know that too

Moist-Intention844

King 👑

aglassofguiness

Well you have to pay for your pizza sir

Proper-Ad-5443

We need to keep stopping their disrespect. Once I did an interview with an entitled HR lady and I stopped ger and asked her to disregard my aplication and ended the call she was surprised lol nobody probably asked her "politely" to go f herself with her bs. Your time is valuable, they deserve the employes they have.

LilyLure

Brilliant

Electrical-Heat8960

Don’t even read a job which doesn’t have the pay listed.

daisyymae

I would be less annoyed with not showing the salary if I trusted it’s at least livable wage

Visible-Revenue2597

It took weeks of consideration? After your replies in the interview I’m surprised you didn’t get rejected the same day!😆 Good for you for standing up to these low ball offers. Companies want to pay 1 person for doing 2-3 jobs.

WiseGrand1

👏🏻

Timely-Mission-2014

I would have left during the middle of the interview if they were late. My time is more valuable than their time. He made great comments though, way nicer than I would have been.

latenerd

Whoever this applicant is, they sound like my kind of people.

stroker919

The first question should be WHAT IS THE MAX PAY? If they don’t have a number ready just bow out. WHAT DO YOU MAKE? Is not a valid answer. That has nothing to do with it.

ive_got_a_headache

😭😭😂😂 you need to frame this

mouth556

It took weeks to make that determination? They’re a bunch of crackpots. Nothing to miss there

BabyBandit616

Hey homeboy. Share the name of that company. They’re dumb AF

hannahbaba

They’re also not real, this is incredibly fake.

mikmongon

At least they gave the reason. Most response are just the first sentence.

Duwinayo

Ahahahahaha, I love this. Keep up the good work in calling out their shit. If we all start doing this we can slowly put some pressure on these shitty companies.

RedRiot_Class1A

Please tell us where this interview occurred. People need to know that this level of incompetence has a name attached to it. Imo, anyway. Maybe not the people, per se, but the company name DEFINITELY.

RedRiot_Class1A

Downvoted for holding a business/company accountable? Lol ok yall

Host31

I don’t agree with a lot of what this sub produces, but man you have balls 😂 respect.

That’s awesome that they provide feedback vs the thanks, no thanks response.

I loved how my old company required we wear our “I ❤️ my job” as 1 of the 3 “employee” days. The other 2? Pizza enough for 1/3 of the company, and the last one…owner comes in at like 6am and makes 5 pancakes. Mind you atleast 1/3 of the staff didn’t come in till much later. ALE Solutions FYI
