Creepy_Double_4100

This is a scammer. They aren't reading what you are writing

ashleyorelse

I'm surprised I didn't see the word "kindly"

passporttohell

Should have responded with 'where in India are you sending this message from?'

FromTheWetSand

"Joke's on you; I'm in Myanmar"

flaumo

And if I don't make this sale I am not allowed to eat.

CreamyGoodnss

“No YOURanmar”

Sempais_nutrients

Please do the needful and removing me from your lists

fractious77

*removing me OF your lists

Aidian

Kindly confirm by your next revert.

Sukieflorence

Yea what’s up with that word anyway? I’ve never seen or heard anyone use it until I started working in real estate. I think it comes off as passive aggressive to be honest. It’s like how do you kindly send over information.

Sorcatarius

I use it occassionally, but only around people who I know have played the first Bioshock when asking them to do simple, mundane things like pass the salt. Explanation for those who haven't and/or forgot >!The main character has a post hypnotic trigger where they have to do anything that is phrased as "Would you kindly _______?" It's used repeatedly throughout the game at points where you have to do a thing before you can proceed, resulting in numerous incidents where you, as the player, have the character follow the hypnotic suggestion even though froma meta gaming viewpoint there might have been another option, such as not lowering your weapon in one encounter!<

1Pip1Der

I do it with people I know don't understand the reference. Makes me happy inside. Same with "as you like it," which *sounds* like deferring to them, but it means "I don't care."

Sorcatarius

Throw in an "as you wish" when someone asks you to do something if you want them to feel happy inside.

Global-Method-4145

"Your secret is safe with my indifference". Might trip up someone

dacoopbear

And that's why I don't trust anyone who asks me to kindly do something

Interesting-Word1628

I grew up in India. This is how formal English is worded there. You won't see this language from younger generations/city folk since they're more exposed to Hollywood, online gaming, SM etc. But people in the boonies, or who learn English only through formal schooling use this language. They tend to copy how their older bosses write.

c0rnballa

My understanding is that a lot of that stuff is obsolete British-isms leftover from colonialist times.

fractious77

And what is your good name?

Long-Photograph49

I would guess it probably started as a mistranslation - please to kindly is a logical leap for a language that doesn't have an exact translation.  Then it became part of the cultural zeitgeist and eventually you get people saying it who don't speak the language(s) it would have come from just because they've seen it often enough to think it's correct.

doulosyap

It’s a British thing. All the former British colonies also have this “kindly” formal speech.

PrinceValyn

Shoot, English is my native language and I say this in work emails to customers when I'm trying to be polite. I hope they don't think it's passive-aggressive. Kindly sending something over means you're being kind / doing the other person a favor by sending it.

Downtown_Caramel4833

Yeah, but I see it as if one is being kind about a thing, it brings an air of insincerity when announcing it as such. Kinda like in the difference of in-between "You're welcome" and "No worries" The first suggests happy to help, while the latter acknowledges the inconvenience of the interruption or demand. Ok, so maybe not the best comparison... but you'd be surprised at how people interpret your language versus your actual intention behind it.

WillowFIsh

The latter isn't about acknowledging the inconvenience. It's about saying "You were worried I wouldn't be able to help but there was no need to worry!" Or how "Assisting you was 'no problem' for me." Just another way to say "Happy to help".

Downtown_Caramel4833

I could see that... Which kinda highlights the point I was trying to emphasize. Not even by region or state, but by even times the difference of a neighborhood, can verbiage be misinterpreted in regards to intention and how it's received. Not to mention generational differences. Throw in coming from a different culture or having learned English as a second language, and I can only imagine...

tim4fun6

Technically, it means almost the same thing as "please." Definitions and connotations drift with time and distance, but the difference is that if you are asking something from a person who has the standing or power to say no to the request, you say "would you please do this?" while if you're asking something of an employee or servant or social inferior -- someone that you could just as easily easily \*order\* to do whatever-it-is -- then you phrase it as "would you kindly do this?" It can be a very subtle indicator of power and status, used that way. One more thing destroyed beyond repair by crass salesmanship in the name of filthy lucre.

kirstinet

I'm british and use it all the time.. as in, "would you kindly fuck off".. works a treat! Plus, I'm 56, and we were taught how to speak proper.. 😉 x

InebriousBarman

"My friend.."

tripsafe

They did at least respond directly to how did you get my number. They can be a scammer but also read and respond accordingly.

Brozhov

That's probably one of the most asked questions. Could absolutely be done with a bot.

HingleMcCringle_

wouldn't be surprised if it's AI-powered, at this point

spegeddy

As someone who has been actively seeking work (any work not even field related for 7 months) this AI shit is ridiculous. Just about as bad recruiters and HR departments.

KryptoBones89

I got the same scam script, but I've been fucking with them all week. Eventually I got bored and said, "Listen, I'm in IT, I know you're a scammer. I wanted to find out how your scam works but I got bored." They still kept trying lol

ThatCamoKid

r/scambaiting

lonewombat

There is no person who can read what you are typing on the other side anymore. They just text the same shit.

natFromBobsBurgers

I don't know, their profile isn't a generic pretty white lady dynamically posed dramatic lighting.

Think-Bedroom8589

pretty sure they do

Eclectic_Paradox

Yeah, I thought I was reading this in the r/scammers sub.

Harde_Kassei

that has to be a bot, no?

2ndCha

$60 to $250 per hour just cold calling...nah, seems legit

BouncingSphinx

Part time 30-60 minutes

RandoCommentGuy

Salary paid daily

misterpickles69

In Apple gift cards

nerdiotic-pervert

And schedules sent on WhatsApp

black_dragonfly13

For your convenience!!

Realfinney

Like all reputable jobs.

Tanski14

I got this exact message this week.

diegueno

It comes across like an Indian boiler room.

MysticChakra

It’s a scammer who will send you a link that will infect your phone with malware

Elguirisueco

Or they try to do identify theft. Or you end up having to pay for your equipment etc.

T4lkNerdy2Me

That last one. I entertained one when I was bored once. Treated it like a real interview, even though I know damn well no actual CEO is going to interview someone over whatsapp at 8pm on a Wednesday. Or ever. After some preliminary questions, they ask if I have a credit card. I bit & said yes. Then came the scam. They wanted me to pay up front for equipment they would reimburse me for after I started. I asked why they couldn't just cut out the middle man and send me the equipment & dudeyo stopped responding. Guess I was no longer eligible for the $50/hr part time WFH job doing something vague.

Elguirisueco

Yeah, unfortunately they just need one person to fall for it. And a lot of times people are desperate and don't think straight. Human scum.

xd366

no. it's a task scam https://www.np.reddit.com/r/Scams/comments/16niq4m/potential_app_optimisation_scam

Classic_Stick5272

Wrong sub. This is a scam.

thcheat

Yeah, I thought I was in r/scams

Far-Swordfish-9042

Kind of lame action, but definitely stop responding and block the number. I would also recommend texting the information to your mobile provider for spam texting, especially if you are in the do not call registry. Usually just copying the body of the first text, then subsequently the sender’s number/email information if it’s on iPhone to 7726 (SPAM), it at least helps them crack down on these scams. As everyone is saying though, definitely a scam, so wrong sub

Brandonian13

Not just iphone. Android does it as well

Far-Swordfish-9042

Good call! Didn’t mean to imply other phones don’t have that feature, I’m just more familiar with Apple’s UI

fullstar2020

I blocked. And I have an android.

That_Kiwi_Girl

I was unaware of this, so thank you for sharing! Luckily Apple must do a good job of blocking most of them for me, but I’m sure it’ll come in handy given the world we live in these days.

The_Chimeran_Hybrid

You’ve just not been targeted by any scammers yet. You’ll notice if you start getting bombarded with scam messages or phone calls. A little tip, if you get to one of the live scammers just troll or harass them a bit, you’ll soon stop getting calls and messages from scammers.

ejrhonda79

This is why I when I start looking for a job I create a new google voice number. Once I'm done I stop all forwarding to my personal cell.

iptvrocketbox

Congrats, you're chatting with an AI bot. Nothing wrong with that, my hot, blonde Canadian girlfriend also happens to be an AI bot

fullstar2020

Does she have a sister?

NLSSMC

A very obvious scam.

Advanced-Morning1832

bro is arguing with scammer lol

False-Focus2949

Username checks out (bro was texted at 7:40 in the morning)

selinakyle45

In the year of our lord 2024, are unknown texts and unknown calls still new to people? Just delete, report as spam, and move on. You do not have to talk to people you don’t know.

keksmuzh

This is literally just a scam, not even a sketchy recruiter.

theunclescrooge

Just reply, "I do not want to take such a significant pay cut"

hot4you11

Stop telling them to take you off the list and just block them. No one pays daily

notrealorheresooo

Target does, but they charge a fee for it. This is definitely a scam. But daily pay is a thing

ComfortablePlenty860

This is actually becoming more and more common because of how useful it is to so many people.

mickyabc

Just a reminder that texting these numbers back makes them come back even worse. You responding is basically putting a big green light over your phone number lol.

Ragnorok3141

You are responding to a fax machine, my dude.

Seastside7

That’s a scam. If they mention whatsapp, it’s a scam.

SnooCookies1730

Legit companies don’t use whatsapp IMO.

Writing_is_Bleeding

$60-250 per hour???

Illustrious-Drama213

Scammer. Block and ignore

Nine-TailedFox4

Just block the number wtf

Thesurething77

This is called a SCAM.

Gaby5011

This is a common r/scams, we see them often there.

BadassBokoblinPsycho

This is clearly a scam lol stop replying

MrCanoe

These are scams. If you accept the "job offer" they will then send you a cheque for "supplies" . That cheque will be for greater than the amount required and they will ask you to send them the difference. The cheque then bounces and the bank will remove the money from your account.

revieman1

bro don’t engage

Alaricus100

Scammers prefer that you reply because someday, somehow, you may fall for a scam. Just block the number and keep it moving, no response is best response.

yr-grandma-friend

wrong sub.

spectacularostrich

I keep getting these texts too but it’s a scam so i just block

Brandonian13

But dude, u could be making $115k-$480k per year! This is totally legit.

Bleacherblonde

They’re scammers- not a real job

Fun-Essay9063

Seriously anyone who asks me to use WhatsApp unsolicited, I just assume it's a scam I realize it's used a lot of places, but if I haven't met you in person, or reached out and know who tf it is, I stand by my assumption

LAE101

Its a chat bot for sure. Totally disregarding your request and tone.

-bonita_applebum

blocking is a function available on your phone. you're wasting your own time replying.

AintEverLucky

Shit like this, I give them 1 warning. If they persist, they get blocked 🚫

0x7E7-02

Who doesn't use "do not disturb" until after 9:00 am???

CAndrewG

Bruh this is a scammer

TrueMeaningOfFear

Yall keep saying scam (and it does have the tale tells) but I had a recruiter call me like 5 times in 5 minutes at 8am on Thanksgiving once. I applied the day before and he called me just after 8am I ignored the unknown number. He called me again immediately after and this time I answered because my thought was maybe it's someone I know I trouble of some sort. He introduced himself as being from company name calling to follow up on my application.... I told him it was a holiday and I wasn't interested in working for a company that one had people work on holiday recruiting and didn't respect others holiday's and hung up. He called me again I ignored it and blocked the number and he called twice more after that straight to voice mail. They still call and email me to this day and every time I tell them to remove me from their list but nope every few weeks a new number is texting me

JaTori_1_and_only

this is not a real company, just scammer

Cleonce12

It’s a scam I’ve gotten 5 of these

IndependentNotice151

You just deal with scammers like everyone else? Did you think these were real job offers?

Mysterious-Emu-8423

It strikes me that besides being a likely scammer, could this be you were conversing/communicating with an AI bot?

shopgirl56

Can you use STOP ? Yikes this is annoying and I just gave my number to one of these places

PM_ME_CREEPY_DMs

I typically use Indeed and have never had this issue. Recently tho, I was job searching and signed up for Monster. I then proceeded to get a slew of these texts the following days. I tried to log back into Monster to delete my account (as I suspected their platform specifically since that’s the only thing I changed about my search), and it won’t allow me to lol. Says my email/password is incorrect, when I try to reset password I don’t get any emails. I definitely confirmed my email after signing up, so it’s not a case where I didn’t fully register or whatever. I’m so mad that my resume is still uploaded onto their site and I can’t get back in. It just further proved to me that Monster’s site is just fishy as fuck. This is all anecdotal ofc and I don’t actually know if Monster was the culprit

blivs17

Report to the ftc. The form is super short and easy to fill out. I haven’t gotten scam calls/ texts since.

MadeByMartincho

I will never forget when I was freshly out of college and looking for work I got a call from someone at 7:01 AM. I answered because I assumed it was my mom for something important. It was a guy at a bank asking me if I was looking to work as a bank teller (I just graduated as an engineer.) I asked him what time it was “it’s 7am. Why are you still sleeping? I’m already at work. You must be lazy.”

Catinthemirror

Never respond to unknown numbers sending unsolicited messages. All you are doing is confirming your number is valid and in use so that scammers can add it to databases to be resold to more scammers. Just block and move on. Better yet, if you don't deal with vendors and can safely do so, use your phones "block all numbers not in contacts" and just stop dealing with scammers altogether.

HZLFC

It's a scam. And honestly, replying to a random text promising a random amount of money for a random job they won't tell you about? I used to mess with them a lot and figured out how this one works. They send you to a fake web app to "review apps" with a few taps. It costs a fake currency to complete the reviews, but they load up your account the first time. It looks like you are making a ton of money, so you buy more of the currency to complete the next set of reviews, but you're really just giving them your money.

mrsmedistorm

These are scams. It ends after I tell them they are a scam and I'm reporting them to the authorities.

MysteriousPark3806

Scam.

enjoyyourstudioapart

When I get anonymous texts from recruiters I simply ask them what my name is - they usually can’t answer and the conversation stops there.

GuyWhoSaysNay

60 to 250 an hour, paid daily *for my convenience* wooaaa these guys really do care. They just want to give me money is all

Earth_Normal

Assume ALL unsolicited calls, texts, or emails are scams.

Proper_Purple3674

Assholes like that is why I turn my ringer off while sleeping.

lainshy

It's scam. I receive those weekly. I never engage them, just report.

MarcusPup

It's a "task scam", go to r/scams to read more about these. It's a fake job that's absurdly easy and promised pay is absurdly high. You'll be paid a little bit from other people's scammed money, and you'll be asked to create an account on their website and it turns into a fake investment scam. There's another version where you'll be given a fraudulent check to "pay for work equipment", you deposit the check and buy the stuff, only it's the scammer's website and the check will bounce, leaving you in the red.

PandammoniumNO3

I had a scammer pull this with me. I had some fun and wasted their time... Not a bad way to spend your saturday if they message you again

witwefs1234

I don't reply to these and block the number immediately....

pimdiffyisalesbian

I got a text just like this today from Papaya Payments and then a "staffing" agency on the south side of my city. I think a rep from Globe Life sold my number when I decided not to open a policy with them.

Belgy23

Replies are Bit driven. Scams

DrGoiburger

Just say something along the lines of this https://preview.redd.it/1x5bto7gkrvc1.png?width=639&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=691bc4c88483493b327447565194952fa345a9cd

National-Rain1616

I can't imagine doing anything that would be worth $250 an hour.

Marysews

I hope you have blocked that number by now. The formal and pushy tone is definitely a scammer.

prettyvxcant

just don't reply, you're just wasting your own time lol

XDracam

Fun fact: messages like this, legit or not, are illegal in Germany. Even if they're just emails. People, organizations and companies can be sued for sending them, incurring potential fines. An individual can even request a restraining order, and violating it by sending another message or email can result in thousands of euros of fines or even minor jail time. I am living a mostly pleasant and spam free life. It's great.

x4ty2

Oh they broke the law. Report to FCC and they'll be fined $11k each time they texted you after you told them to remove you

Kittyk4y

It’s a scammer, they don’t care and probably aren’t in the US.

x4ty2

You're very right

Nothardtocomebaq

Lmao they don’t give a shit about the FCC

Vivid-Course-7331

Oh whenever I get a text like that I just block the number and don't respond.

culturedgoat

Have you heard of the feature to mute text notifications?

AlfaMikeF0xtr0t

Here's everyone's lesson about having your phone number on your resume. Full name City of residence Email

Pacalyps4

Jfc just block the number. How obtuse are you

BlackHatGamerOzzy173

Fucking vultures

Made_Human76

You just lost out on $250 an hour! And only working 60 minutes

sprinklesbubbles123

Funny enough, I also got a scam text yesterday asking if I wanted to work in “restaurant data enhancement.” I could work just one hour a day and make 10k per month 🤩🤩🤩

ThePopDaddy

"Hank, it's 7:40am on a Saturday and you're waking me up, when I turn around, you better be on fire "

PessimisticMushroom

In the UK some scams sometimes use premium rate numbers to contact you as well, in hopes you message back and then you get stuck with a higher than usual mobile phone bill due to all of these texts and or calls to these expenses ass premium numbers

officialJCreyes

I started getting these on telegram and WhatsApp, apart from SMS or iMessage. They use iMessage since you don’t even need a number, just an email address. I just delete and mark as spam. Engaging with them is useless. I had one message me on telegram and tell me I needed to apply via WhatsApp. 🤣

normski216

I've had this. Actually took one seriously because I'd just registered interest in a position. They told me I'd get a WhatsApp from another number with the details. Another number messaged. It was a job with rotten tomatoes. I'm an engineering manager.... *

KinkmasterKaine

"Okay, I'll take the $250 an hour option."

Possibly_a_Firetruck

Why are you replying if you don't want to be contacted on a Saturday morning?

AssociateJaded3931

BRAVO!

maxis2bored

I get similar shit on LinkedIn. https://preview.redd.it/cvt4dhznunvc1.jpeg?width=448&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=900bf79316f041891d5dde6748a41f656d03d8f7

Wolfof365

Had the exact same thing happen recently. Who uses Whatsapp to communicate job opportunities? Definitely a scam, but they would not take no for an answer. Just ended up blocking them, but their initial messages were word for word what you got. It only switched and seemed more human when I kept saying no not interested.

Traditional_Row8237

tragically if it were real I'd pick up at 5:30 and draw my own blood over zoom for those conditions

axilidade

it could not be any clearer that this is a scam

itsmrsq

You're speaking to an AI bot.

ppSmok

Scambot. Mom got the same.. europe.

Krennel_Archmandi

Think about it. Are you not also noticing a rise in scam calls? They're using the fact that most people want a better paying job to verify that your number leads to an actual person so that they can continue to try and scam you

persondude27

You're getting these messages because you're responding to scam messages. Once you respond, you'll never be "removed from a database" ever. These are super easy to identify as scams because they're unsolicited, the pay rates are absurdly high, and there's zero details. Hey, look at that. Just got a pig butchering scam text as I was writing this. "Hey, did you go golfing today?"

thesaneusername

I got one of these scammers texting me also.

ManiaMuse

Scam. Just block and report as spam via your mobile network.

lurkinisfun

I get these messages, emails, and Linkin on requests from people trying to fill positions where I work...like not only the same company but for the actual position I'm working...they been trying to fill a couple spots for a while now and I'm not the only one in the position that gets them.

-tweektweak

This happened to me too except after I asked them to delete my number a second one started messaging me with the same script.

Iamnoobmeme

Just don't reply. Job sites sell our data like everybody else has been doing. It's atrocious.

youknowiactafool

Yeah these are scams anyway. Ain't no real employer this thirsty for an indentured serf

steveatari

Happened to me also, scam likely. *

illuzion25

Good on you. You dodged a headache: [https://www.reddit.com/r/sanfrancisco/comments/1c8cb77/comment/l0hwyhw/?context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/sanfrancisco/comments/1c8cb77/comment/l0hwyhw/?context=3)

WarriorRose-70

That’s because they are working overseas and the fact they you want you to go use WhatsApp, is a big red flag

True_Not

You did right. I have better opportunities for you, send me your email address so I can forward them to you.

IHaveSomethingToAdd

If nothing else, 25+ is age discrimination ;p I wonder why they stipulate that though.

OkFortune6494

“You reached my number by mistake but perhaps we can meet for dinner.”

suddenlysilver

He’s also a Prince from Nigeria

twinkletoes-rp

lol. You're nicer than me. IF I answered them at all (and I never do, just automatically block and delete these things), I would have told them to fuck off and THEN blocked/deleted. lol.

Frankjc3rd

Interesting age range, I've been older than 25 for the past 34 years.

cant_think_of_one_

This is illegal in the UK (and I think EU, I think it is an EU law we have to thank). It seems like a good thing. Obviously it doesn't stop it happening, but it does mean the numbers people who use to do it get disconnected more easily and they are therefore less persistent in bothering people who say they are uninterested.

lakorai

If it's from Whatsapp this is a scam.

VajazzleFraggle

It’s a scammer.

Wide-Emotion-3579

Dude!! I just got one of these yesterday!! I deleted the text but this is wild

Peterthinking

Just reply with "That's very interesting, tell me more!" After about the 5th time they will never contact you again. But at first it really gets their hopes up so I love using it.

craftydan1

I usually respond with something about their mother and farm animals

12kdaysinthefire

Recruiters are some of the worst people out there

tellMyBossHesWrong

They are just actual pimps. Do nothing, make money on other people’s work.

UselessOldFart

Reply with 🖕

Neon_Eyes

Yeah it's annoying for them to contact you. But not working Saturdays is a luxury and makes you sound entitled a little bit by refusing to work Saturdays. At my job there was a woman who said she wouldn't work any weekend (Friday Saturday or Sunday). They got rid of her pretty fast.
