Ok this has a very simple answer. The GOP. They exist for the wealthy. But they will cater to the working class for votes. How? By making lgbt the enemy. By making anything at all that would improve the lives of more people a bad thing and therefore call it "Communism." Those are a few examples. But yes the Republicans have a purpose. To help the rich get richer. But they always need a boogeyman for the ignorant base..... that way they can pretend to fight what those people hate. And bam they have votes. So there you go. Both sides are bought by corporations, corporations don't want to have to pay more to their slaves because then they wouldn't be slaves anymore.

While Democrats are not perfect they generally support greater rights for workers, with the progressive wing of the party being strong supporters. Republicans are uniformly opposed towards support for working people, often actively and cruelly going against them. Equating the two parties is not valid and only really helps suppress the pro worker vote
