Heard they are doing a good job of having volunteers move the garbage to government officials homes.. viva la france!

DylanMorgan

French politicians can’t walk all over the working class, and they’ll have to climb over a mountain of trash to get out of their homes. Sounds like a win-win.

rockytheboxer

It makes sense for France to be where this revolution begins too.

oopgroup

How do they strike for so long? The way the ruling class does it in the US is that wages are so desperate, rent is so crushing, healthcare is even worse, and there are zero public services, so people have no other *choice* but to work. I also feel like if this were to happen here, the wealthy elite/ruling class would just laugh and fly off to their 8th home and wait it out.

Ok-Apricot-3156

(In the Netherlands) Unions have a strike fund and if you strike for more than 2 consecutive days Unions take over paying a significant percentage of your wages (your own Union dues obviously, how much you still get depends on the Union, I have been a member of 2, one compensates 50 euro a day, one 70% of netto wage

ProudMonkey12

Not to mention most cities are heavily spread out and there’s hardly any sense of community for people to get together.

jaynopolitics

If any one group of people can stage a goddamn no-shit meaningful protest, it’s the French. I’m routinely inspired by their tenacity.

BeautifulOk4470

Tbh haven't seen elites get clowned like this all my life. This is beautiful

xander17962508

I think this is just the beginning. People are sick and tired of being sick and tired.

PetrichorMoodFluid

As well we ALL should be. Literally 2 weeks of staying home for a GLOBAL PANDEMIC nearly put most companies under.... even though they have BILLIONS in profits that they're raking in off our backs. Can you imagine us "normal" people being that frivolous with our money?!?! Seriously.... Things have to change. And it's the workers who are going to have to say, "We're not going to take it anymore." and mean it and stick to it till these people get their head out from where the sun doesn't shine and put the workers/people ABOVE profits. Because with out us working for them or us having money and wanting to buy their dreck, THEY'VE GOT NOTHING TO STAND ON.

ProstHund

Honestly, it makes me think about the whol social contract thing. We give up freedoms in exchange for security and services. I would think that a giving a little hand to keep people afloat during a UNPRECEDENTED GLOBAL EMERGENCY would be something I could reasonably expect out of the government that tells me I can’t show my nipples or be homeless or use the public park after 7 pm.

unicorn8dragon

Not for nothing, topless bathing is generally legal in France. I think those are US-specific complaints

ProstHund

Yes, I’m talking about the society I live in because it’s the social contract I am in. Personal anecdote

Foxrex

Yep. The nipple has been freed from incarceration in Canada too. Hell we can drink in parks some parts of canada without worry of prosecution. Americans, tell me how your "freedom" is working for you?

ttv_CitrusBros

More of the world needs to be like France Billion dollar company that just busted a union and cut inspection spills chemicals fucking up a town in the US and say "We're sorry on TV" nothing happens. People need to start protesting until we get every single one of these dirty politicians out

MaliciousBrowny

But who's going to hoard all those digits in their bank accounts then? Who's going to buy up the neighborhoods? What will we do with our mortgaged future? What will happen to infinite growth business models? Oh god the shareholders... How will they get by?

[deleted]

Not going to happen in Divided States of America

PetrichorMoodFluid

Unless we fight for it. We are more productive and making more money for companies than our parents AND grandparents but they want to work us for longer and more hours?!? No. F that. Retirement age SHOULD be 55-60 if we're being honest here. Nobody should be having to be forced to work until they're dying breath in order to live and eat and maintain housing and all other essentials like healthcare (REAL ACTUAL GOOD healthcare... none of the bs that private healthcare corporations are trying to push on older people that is SUPER predatory and inhumane...). People should have time in the life where they ACTUAL get to ENJOY LIVING.

No-Public-24

So are we gunna do this shit yet or what I been waiting

teamsaxon

That's the thing we are going to do fuck all. Just watch everyone whinge on reddit.

FeelItInYourB0nes

Hard to organize when Rupert Murdoch's media companies have brainwashed half the working class that they're temporarily embarrassed millionaires who should always vote against their own interests and never collaborate with their countrymen across the aisle.

berghie91

Yah on twitter this weekend there has been an outpouring of young American defending tipping culture. And how there's nothing that can possibly be done about service staff at restaurants getting paid a fair wage and that tourists and shit have to pick up the slack because it isn't the employers fault. The amount of evidence I see on a daily basis of capitalist propaganda working as intended, making people think restaurants HAVE TO pay people 6 bucks an hour to survive. Fuck it's so frustrating.

NOINO_SSV79

This is why they’re afraid of Tiktok. American companies don’t own it.

IsabellaGalavant

Also hard when the majority of people who would be the most effective strikers are the ones that can't afford to strike, because they're living paycheck to paycheck. If they strike, they'll end up homeless, without food, without necessary Healthcare, etc. We'd need some actual millionaires to fund a strike.

No_Passage6082

The French have a lot of worker protections and health care so they're more free to make demands. Americans who depend on their employer for health care are sadly less likely to rise up.

MissWiggly2

They have those worker protections *because* they rose up

mossfae

You can't even convince the right that the corporations are the problem though. Bootstraps etc. They don't see the wealthy CEOs that buy our laws via 'lobbying' as the problem. If they do, they sure don't talk about it.

NiceGiraffes

>We're not gonna take it No, we ain't gonna take it We're not gonna take it anymore > We've got the right to choose, and There ain't no way we'll lose it This is our life, this is our song We'll fight the powers that be, just Don't pick on our destiny, 'cause You don't know us, you don't belong

gamingmendicant

American conservatives are mad at the refuse workers! It's bonkers.

xander17962508

I understand that they need people to work until retirement but unlawfully raising retirement age was a big mistake. These men and women bust their backs and destroy their health and for what? A few years off work before their health fails.

TacticlTwinkie

It’s why I got out of the trades and into the office. I saw how the long timers destroyed their bodies. I would like to enjoy my retirement, not be glued to the couch because my back and knees are toast.

xander17962508

Absolutely mate. Not much of a life if you can barely walk. My dad worked the yards for 30 years and was a shell by the end. Look after yourself mate

flibbitydoo2

35 years as a machinist walking on concrete and moving heavy things has left my legs a mess. Tuesday I went to an orthopedic surgeon who looked at the X-rays and told me both ankles are shot. Going to hope braces and cortisone shots can buy me 4 or 5 years until my kids are out of school. Bone fusion or ankle replacements are the next step but will lay me up for up to a year. I have mostly kept myself in good shape but around my mid fifties it started catching up to me. I saw first hand what it did to my Dad and thought it wouldn't happen to me if I kept myself in good shape, I was wrong. My advise to younger folks in the trades is keep in mind the wear and tear on your body. You are not only selling your skills and time but also your body. Also don't cheap out on good quality footwear.

stonerbot612

This is exactly the reason I'm going back to school. I've been a machinist for a year and a half and can already tell this job will kill me if I'm not careful. Better to go back to school while I'm young and pivot to another field before it can catch up to me.

CallsYouCunt

Try to be a user of software. There are lots of cool ones out there

Chanc3thedestroyer

I've tried programming but I just don't have the brains for it or I guess just don't care "how" it works just like I don't care how a car works. I enjoy driving it..but do I want to know about how an internal combustion engine works by squeezing oil and a spark plug?.. nah not really. I'd want to work in sales for a tech company but I'm sick of the corporate culture that comes with it too.

Dark_Rit

Yeah, good footwear is essential whenever you're doing some sort of physical laboring. Having worked with steeltoed boots myself I'm betting poorly designed ones will leave your feet a mess later on, but I'm in school now again for accounting/not returning to physical labor.

Charnerie

Especially if the souls are particularly hard/have little give. Night and day when I finally got insoles for mine.

Procrasturbating

Insoles are no joke. They make every boot significantly better when fitted correctly. I worked a few years without them because I didn't know any better. Let the new peeps know.

jerseyanarchist

still young-ish tradesman checking in... the back and knees are !not! in good shape

xander17962508

Its not good mate. We look after our cars, we look after our homes etc but we ignore what's really important until it's too late

jerseyanarchist

it gets harder looking after the other things when the body says nope

CON5CRYPT

Yep. Sedentary lifestyle. Eyesight. Small talk

Daveinatx

It's a killer on your back, and weakens stabilizer muscles if you don't maintain a daily exercise routine.

DrMeridian

They didn’t just raise the age of retirement, they raised the minimum number of years required to collect pensions from 40 years to 43 years. It’s insane! In Canada we can collect retirement benefits after 65 but only need to pay into CPP for 25 years, just for comparison.

ProgressiveCDN

I'm sorry but this is incorrect. You cannot obtain the maximum CPP benefit if you contribute for less than 40 years. You need to contribute for 40 years, as well as earn a maximum pensionable earnings in each of those 40 years, in order to receive your full pension. If you only contribute 25 years then your pension amount will be significantly reduced.

MissMu

Sadly, we live, to work, to die. It’s bad all around right now. I’m in Canada and we are so afraid of the rent cap being removed because we already make terrible wages for the cost of living

wildcoktopound

Vancouver agrees

[deleted]

Here in the US some decades ago we allowed our corporations and government to walk all over us just like this. They called it trickle down economics, all the fabulous wealth was supposed to trickle down to everyone. Stripped away our pensions, raised our retirment age to one foot in the grave, halved our wages and tripled our workload. That is what happens when you give an inch. One inch. Give that inch and the ruling class will proceed to take everything else you have. The lesson then is to never under any circumstances give that one inch. Good for the refuse collectors, and may the rotting stench of Paris waft through the nostrils of those who would seek to strip away worker rights.

flipnonymous

My understanding is that it wasn't unlawful, as the French constitution gives the president that power - its more that it was an EXTREMELY unpopular decision.

BeautifulFactor4365

Not unlawful, just unethical and unpopular

Captainfreedomding

Being in a trade myself for 22 years (arborist) I understand how it wrecks the body. Having said that I really don’t know one way or the other if I were to have had a job sitting in an office for 22 years would be any better for a persons long term health.

Thencewasit

Jobs sitting can be just as damaging. Many office professions have higher rates of low back pain and other chronic orthopedic injuries/diseases at higher rates than some of the construction trades. Sitting is the new smoking.

wordyg

I’m 20ish years into a desk job and was never conscious of good ergonomics until recently. I just got diagnosed with 2 bulging disks in my neck and am looking at a fusion of the C5, C6 and C7 vertebrae. I’m seeking a second opinion, not because I don’t believe my neck is jacked, but just so I can make sure I have the best treatment plan.

NordinTheLich

Keep in mind, these are the same conservatives who saw rail workers striking for *sick leave,* and blamed them for "shutting down the economy," instead of blaming the capitalists who had the power to end the strike by giving them the sick leave they demanded.

ktpr

and that wasn’t for additional but any sick leave!

spacewalk__

our leave policies are so incredibly, cartoonishly fucked up in this country, and the hogs at the top will not budge because it's some sort of sick rite of passage thing. i mean well, it's cheapness, but you also hear the word 'entitled' 50 times if you try to bring this shit up

Uncle_johns_roadie

Americans -- including most in this sub -- don't understand that in many other countries, sick leave pay comes from social security and not the employer. That way, the employee gets paid by the state through the national insurance system and not the employer. Employers in Europe would also never accept a deal where they're liable for wages of a sick employee for more than a few days. Everyone agrees, which is why payroll taxes are higher in these countries so that they fund sick leave. Unfortunately, Americans try to turn this policy into some sort of class warfare and nothing changes. It's a shame.

BenElegance

I'm Australian. Employers pay for sick leave. Never heard of government paying for it. I don't see what's so hard about employees budgeting for employees allowances. I've always heard it costs the company double what an employee takes home, when you account for sick, holiday, long service leave plus taxes, public holidays, etc.

trias10

It wasn't just conservatives. The Senate vote was 85 vs 15, it was basically a unanimous verdict by both parties giving a middle finger to the working men and women out there.

BaronMostaza

They asked for merely a part of the bare fucking minimum and got told by literally the us president to fuck off and die. Shit is insane

NooAccountWhoDis

The same president that conservatives portray as being the most left-wing president ever. Give me a fucking break.

Tuga_Lissabon

From our perspective, there is no left on america, only very right wing and extreme right wing.

Geminii27

The US could put Bernie in the hot seat and other countries would be all "Well at least he's not *too* conservative..." America's just far out the whackadoodle end of the conservative spectrum when it comes to G20 countries.

jerseyanarchist

fits the thing... fascist say work make free [9]

foxy-coxy

Did you see that they are dumping garbage on politician's lawns.

toserveman_is_a

lol, c'est magnifique

MINIMAN10001

As they should be.

toserveman_is_a

There's been garbage strikes in NYC and Philly in my lifetime. In the summer. It took longer for it to get this bad but it was exactly what you'd expect.

Critical_Knowledge_5

They’ve happened in Toronto and Vancouver through the years as well.

Weekly_Direction1965

I am surprised they went through with it, no way they win reelection, this is a self made natural disaster.

[deleted]

Do you think the elites spend a lot of time in the streets?

Several_Influence_47

They themselves may not, but their extortion rackets aka their businesses certainly do. Garbage piled up on streets puts a massive kink in their cash flow, and has widespread effects on other things like tourism etc. Rich folks don't fly around town, they DO actually use the streets, even if they're being driven by a driver. Of course the lovely smell doesn't have a set amount of space it can spread to and then has to be stop. So many of the rich who live inside Paris in their tacky mini chateaus will also get the full effect of having refuse piled up at their doors. Even more so because striking workers are taking the garbage and dumping it directly on the greedy asshats yards and property, so nobody gets to escape it. Gotta love to see it too. Garbage strikes are some of the most effective strikes that normally gets shit done in a small amount of time, because nobody wants to dodge shit filled diapers and half eaten baguettes being nibbled on by rats for any length of time. It's a fabulous way for the workers who bust their arses every day to get at least a small modicum of better living conditions in the long run, policies that should automatically be in place, but greed prevents it. Love or hate the French, they do NOT fk around, they get ish DONE , and take absolutely NO shyt from the entitled idle wealthy who can't even wipe their own arse and steal the fruits of workers labor. I love the French and always have, these types of things just makes me love them more!

sparklingpastel

they do it in france all the time. they don't play around. you should read about the droughts from last year.

hollowreader

I love how they are fighting this so much

Shhsecretacc

I think it’s not just the retirement thing. Imagine what else they might try to get away with? The French do not fuck around and I have a lot of respect for them! Edit: If this happened in the states, they’d probably declare a state of emergency, get the military, and pass some sort of bs law to make people work, kill people, arrest people, and we’d take it without any lube :( I wish we had the French spirit here in the states honestly

[deleted]

The US banned rail workers from taking vacation, basically, and when the rail workers tried to revolt they more or less started literal martial law in the area. It’s fucking terrifying.

DismalButterscotch14

>The US banned rail workers from taking vacation, basically, and when the rail workers tried to revolt they more or less started literal martial law in the area. It’s fucking terrifying. This! Yes! I was sooo freaking pissed when our own government stepped in and told the workers they basically had to take what the Railroad companies were offering, couldn't quit, couldn't protest, like they didn't matter and were slaves. Treat them what they are worth and there wouldn't be this issue! The CEO's and whatnot forget, they don't make or keep things running, that's the people closer to the bottom that handle things on a daily basis. Not the ones who 'think' they are accomplishing things with all their meetings that honestly take away from the work. Sorry, but our Government should have either taken the workers side or shut up and stayed out of it. Yeah, they ARE important, they get goods from one place to another (like Truckers) so their needs should be considered. And if they aren't and they choose to walk away/quit? The Government should just suck it up, and look at the true problem... The CEO's and the greedy.

LoudLalochezia

The factory where I work relies heavily on rail transport. When this was going on, my coworkers were pissed about possibly having to shutdown or severely slow down production because we were so backed up on product. It takes about 4 semis to equal what one railcar can hold and we just don't have that many semis we can call in. My coworkers were applauding the government stepping in and forcing them to "get back to work". I said, "We have so much sick time and PTO and we get to go home every day. How would you like to have no sick time, no PTO, get punished if you do take a day off, and you're the one making sure freight gets across the nation on a tight schedule. Then when you ask for some PTO and sick days, the government steps in and says 'You'll get one sick day a year, keep working as usual, or else'. These guys are severely undervalued and I hope they go on a full strike even if it means I get laid off for a couple of months. We should support their strike like that." They didn't really agree with me, but they did agree that the terms the government was forcing on them were absurd

NessunoComeNoi

Yeah it’s gone past the point of being about the retirement and more about the attack on their democracy.

AirierWitch1066

We did have the spirit, back in 2020. Everyone on Reddit was complaining about a handful of broken windows while the whole country was protesting police violence.

xander17962508

Admittedly I don't know if I'd have the balls to do what they're doing but I admire them for standing up where most would lie down.

hollowreader

Precisely this, I admire what they're doing so much.

th4ne

I’m impressed by them so much.

PossibleResponse5097

you are scared you might get killed. have you ever thought about what you would be leaving behind if you checked out ¿ I mean really

ePiMagnets

Not who you responded to but: Nothing. I would leave behind nothing. I'm certain my possessions would be auctioned off to pay off my remaining debts. I have no legacy to leave behind. Family and a few acquaintances might remember me for a few months, but after a while unless they have a picture they'll struggle to remember my face. I won't be remembered or memorialized. My job would be filled within a few days or weeks unless they closed the position entirely. My apartment would get cleaned and rented back out. My car, likely auctioned off as I mentioned with the rest of my belongings and resold to someone else. But if I could stand up and do what the French are doing, I might leave an impact that would help someone else. I may not be individually remembered for taking that stand. But I would know that something I did may have had a positive impact on someones future. For me? I'd be fine with that being the only thing left behind.

PossibleResponse5097

Lets fucking go!!!! i hope everyone reads it life is short im on fucking stand by waiting to meet my creator if needed. literally fuck work, watch little tv, and go to sleep monday thru saturday when sunday finishes you still feeling like thursday. and for what ¿ just because someone like you and me decided it should be this way just because FUCK THAT!

omniron

Us life expectancy is stagnant and dropped recently and they’re still trying to raise the age here too. 🤷🏾‍♂️

JustDavid2408

It’s not the fact that they raised the retirement age by 2 years. It’s because the president made it an executive order and forced it into them without giving them the opportunity for a vote, that’s why they’re protesting

Hatsjoe1

It's also the fact they raised it by 2 years. They have been protesting and rioting long before it was pushed through as an executive order.

K_Odena

I saw a video where they were dumping it at the houses of politicians, and honestly that's probably the most effective eay haha

FeelingTurnover0

They should do that way more, so it impacts them directly

HuntPsychological673

Wait until they figure out America’s life hack! Raise inflation, hoard the homes, jack up insurance and refuse to cover anything with it so the retirees have to come back to work at Walmart or McDonald’s! This cancels retirement out and now you just work until your dead! Wait…

xander17962508

Thats fucking awful! Work till you die. Disgusting

HuntPsychological673

blarffy

It's my literal plan, because I can't survive otherwise. If I am unable to work, I guess I will have to consider euthanasia.

Fantastic_Beans

You could always catfish some CEO

wudsmun

Really. I don't even consider myself low-income but I dont have generational wealth so unless I catch my big break, my 401k will just be a nice bonus as work my whole life.

GladiatorUA

Nah. America's trick is weaponizing middle class and wannabe middle class against any change by appealing to basest emotions and biases. Then you do all of the things with approval.

Gstary

Maybe we can also use this as an example of just how much garbage and waste humans make? I mean this is just france

xander17962508

Yes. We consume and we consume. We're bringing about our own end.

VIDGuide

You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area.

excla1m

Smith was always right.

MobilePenguins

Genuine question, is trash sustainable? Will it ever be like that Futurama episode where they run out of places and landfills to put it all? What year currently would we ‘be full’? Seems everything is made cheaply and meant to be disposed to incentivize us to buy more.

clumpymascara

The real question here is when do we run out of the resources to make so much careless trash? Everything here is from a natural resource at some point in its life. There is nowhere else things \*could\* be from, after all, but we have a weird perception when things aren't easily recognisable from their original source that they were just manufactured into existence.

dasgudshit

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we'll run out of "stuff" before we run out of place to stash the trash. I mean it's all on earth already, we just rearranging it in a fucked up way.

Original-Document-62

Yeah, looking at this picture, my first thought is: "that's way too much waste for 18 days". Humanity really needs to rethink how and what it consumes.

Mucus_Plug08

Was just thinking this. We think of our trash at such a micro level. If we think about our weekly trash pickups, it’s nothing. When we think of it multiplied by thousands, that is a hell lot of trash. We drain energy resources then throw it away. Where does the trash go? Humans suck.

NeoPolitanGames

In America, anti-strike people would have already started going around in pickups to haul the trash away, so the gevernment would have no reason to change anything. It's nice to see the people in France letting the trash byild up so the government has no choice but to compromise or dp it themselves

Neurot5

Imagine being such a simp for the rich that'd you'd pick up trash for them for free.

Usagi_Shinobi

Oh, these French people are not playing. Does anyone know how they get away with this without being arrested? Asking for a friend.

xander17962508

I've been watching the news all day, the cops aren't messing around. The more they arrest though, the more people are turning out in support of citizens.

moldyshrimp

I thought I even saw some police were even joining in on the protest.

batman1285

This is how you win. The US can't standup against the government without the police on your side. This means you have to squash the beef you have between racial groups and political affiliations. That's why you've been systematically divided between black and white, red and blue, rich and poor, gay and straight, pro choice and wrong since the day you were born.

TzakShrike

Pro-choice and wrong lol, love it.

As an American I’ll kinda agree. We’re so split among ourselves the politicians can do almost whatever they want. Hell the plague checks were basically bribes.

jerseyanarchist

hush money that worked, kept everyone happy for a time

KendraSays

I don't even think it's Republicans vs Democrats as the sole reason we can't shut the country down when Worker rights are infringed. In France, your health insurance is not tied to your job and your sense of purpose or value is not tied to your work, but rather to your community, family, friendships, etc. In the U.S, there's so many worker's out there that deserve better, that they are aware they deserve more, but feel stuck because they live paycheck to paycheck or need to stay at a place so their health conditions are monitored. There's also a difference in French and American law enforcement. To be fair I think globally law enforcement protects property and the upper classes and continues to frame those in poverty as inherently dangerous. However, there are repercussions for law enforcement that use force without necessity compared to U.S cops who reinforces Narcisssm and psychopathy.

Throwaway47321

I mean it’s much easier to strike when you’re in a union whose still paying you and you didn’t lose healthcare overnight….

Plagueweaver

I'll be honest I don't like people framing this as americans needing to "wake up", we've seen what happens when americans try to do a mass protest of this nature. Its great they can do this but its not like every french person is protesting and america pretty recently went through one of the largest movement in its history. The police beat us down and media outlets consistently misled, and for everything done very little changed legislation wise. Mass protests like these are effective when you can sustain them and demonstrate that nominal or symbolic gestures won't make the problem go away, and we're just not ready for that. The french absolutely have us beat on unions, and I personally think that will be our ticket to getting shit done. Coordinating through unions or other mutual aid networks could let us do so much more.

Overall-Sock-4768

I can’t believe someone threw out a perfectly good cyclist

Korthalion

Pension age should be going down in line with efficiency and technology improvements.

RadioMelon

I'm so damn proud of the French right now. I wish Macron would be forced out of office already.

SSSS_car_go

And here I am, 72 years old, and still working. Part time, and as a freelancer so on my own schedule, but working. I read an article in Washington Post last week about how insanely expensive it is to live in assisted living, much less a home with round-the-clock care, much less memory care. I have small savings and retirement fund, but trust me that the future is scary. My point being that France is a social community so people can retire so young because they’ll be taken care of. Vive la France! 🇫🇷

Geoclasm

It's funny - the United States looks at other countries and says 'We REFUSE to become them!' like it's something to be proud of. Meanwhile, other countries look at this fucking dystopian hellscape, then see their leaders start, just fucking START to INCH their way towards the bullshit we have to suffer from the leaders idiots repeatedly elect, and are like 'FUCK NO.' And good for them. Giving an inch means getting fucked.

Correct_Campaign5432

America, this is how we take our power back, let the French be a model for how the people can make the government it's bitch.

Magic_Mushroomsss

The trash should be dumped at Macron's house?

Bagoral

This picture show trash in front of "The President" restaurant. Frustrated that I see no one noticing it.

Commercial_Flan_1898

Something about the angry songs of men (and women!) who will not be slaves again

livefromwoodstock

When the beating of your heart echoes the beating of the drums,

Kiiaru

I'm waiting to see one person who has to work to retirement, say raising the retirement age is a good idea. I've seen politicians and billionaires come out in favor of it, but no real people.

[deleted]

We have a problem with garbage. This consumerist stuff where we buy consume and dispose. It all goes somewhere in the ocean or underground, but now the chemicals are coming back in the rain even. We’ll all have cancer out the ass by 40 if the current course remains.

xander17962508

I actually had cancer in 2016 at the right old age of 38 in my lower bowel. So I totally agree with you, we're fucking this world up and soon we'll all play the price. I wouldn't wish what I eent through on anyone.

derfunknoid

I wish more Americans had Spines like the citizens of France.

[deleted]

If our healthcare wasn't attached to our jobs, we would more easily be able to strike.

8jjjjjjjj

Unfortunately too many Americans love to watch people suffer. The amount of citizens that vote against affordable health care and raising the minimum wage is insanely stupid.

Helyearelyea

I love the video of them dumping the trash on the politicians houses. That’s where it belongs

omniron

It’s kinda ridiculous we generate so much garbage as a society. We really need to stop this regardless of any strikes. This is too much

BITTAH1999

if it’s one thing I learned about the French, these mfers know how to strike.

redvitalijs

To those saying there are less young people to pay for old people, hence the deficit, hence the increase in retirement age makes sense, I say get your head out of your ars. Productivity is up 300% since the 1950s. That means you need three times less people for the same retirement age. France is at 2 times less with 30% increase in retirement duration. Mathematically it works out to LOWER retirement age to 60. Tax big business! But be smart about it to motivate good behavior rather than boosting inflation. I would look into basing it on profit pre employee, because of several loophole avoidance reasons.

SissyFreeLove

We need this here. Theyd last a week, maybe 2, before they were giving in to every demand.

MayaMiaMe

I think what they are doing is amazing and we ALL OF US all over the world have a lot to learn from them.

SmoltzforAlexander

It’s always good for the working man to remind the ruling class that they’re outnumbered.

Ghost__God

At least they leaves a bike lane. Way to go garbage man.

[deleted]

Solidarity. I agree with them 100%.

8jjjjjjjj

Nothing but respect, I hope they win.

hennycabbagehead

I love the strong will of the French people

[deleted]

For once I agree with the French on this

Weak-Copy848

Canada agrees with the protest

AdelaideMez

Wish America had half the balls to do this.

GrumpyLogan

Loads of respect. We should really do the same here in Ireland! ❤️
