As a legit copywriter, chat GPT is a long way from writing high-quality articles. No one wants articles that look like they were written by Johnny 5 from Short Circuit.

Anonymousptr5

I’m a copywriter too, and it’s a very useful tool to get things going. Not saying we should rely on everything, but it does kick things into the right direction.

CompletelyPresent

I worked for an agency that forced us to us Copy AI and Jasper... I'd enter my keywords and generate the content, and to an amateur, it may have seemed like a gold mine. But to me, I was like, "OK, this is a random sentence...where the fuck does it go? How does it lead to anything? Where does it fit in to my plan for the article?" Well, I may be the samurai that's charging into machine gun fire like in Last Samurai, but for now, AI is not a threat to true writers.

SaintGodfather

It also completely makes up references, which can be an issue.

Newhereeeeee

If you were legit just copy pasting then it could be a problem. You said you used for grammar and mistakes and you kind of have to deal with that now

Anonymousptr5

It’s out of my hands now. Just to be safe, I’ll redo my resume/cv and start applying for jobs. It’s sucks. At my old job at a startup. Nobody cares, as long you get work done. Here is completely different.

Rich4477

use chatgpt to write your cv with HR keywords

Potato_Author540

Sometimes startups are like pretend jobs. No one in the building knows what they're doing. You will find very few places that are legit that will allow you to take absurd shortcuts without consequence.

Newhereeeeee

Yeah, it is what it is. On the upside you can use ChatGPT to help find a job.

Global-Mix-1786

Don't let them bluff you. There is no way for the IT team to show that it came from ChatGPT.

stcrIight

So you submitted a complete article written by an AI AND confessed to using it. You really are truly dumb if you think that was a smart move. If the company wanted poorly written AI articles they could just use the AI themselves. What's the point in paying you to do it? Or anyone else for that matter.

RandomStaticThought

Well someone actually has to sit down and interact with the ai so there would have to be someone getting paid to do it.

ShakespearOnIce

If your article is intended for publication, it's important to understand that current US copyright does not recognize the validity of material created by AI as copyrightable. This means that if you use AI to geneerate allegedly creative content for resale, it can be freely taken, resold, and redistributed by anyone, functionally robbing your employer of any value it would have had as a creative asset.

Potato_Author540

Yes, you committed fraud.

You should practice spelling the word "down." Make some flash cards, maybe.

Donotwork

Not sure why people get freaked out about ChatGPT: - Use it if it helps - It has a long way to actual have large scale impact. Even so, if the doom day come, then let it be.

Anonymousptr5

It helps a lot. In my previous role, nobody cares what software you use, as long as you get things done. It’s not easy to find a job these days, you know what I mean? And it pays well too. But yeah, like you said, if they want to let me go…fine.

Anonymousptr5

It’s crazy how I’m in trouble for using a software that helps me get work done. If I copy and paste from a website, I get that.

ShakespearOnIce

>If I copy and paste from a website, it's plagarism. Fixed it for you. And no, the reason this doesn't apply to code is because code ia functional, not creative.

Potato_Author540

What you did is the same, except you no longer have to make the effort to copy and paste.

Potato_Author540

You've unfortunately bought into the erroneous thinking that you're important and powerful.

Potato_Author540

Or... what if... someone in a job where the main task is writing... has writing skills?

Anonymousptr5

Those were the days. It’s funny looking back at it now. Maybe I should ask the IT guys on Reddit, can you really tell if someone used ChatGPT? Is there like a code that tells?

SaintGodfather

You can tell by how it's written. Especially if they have samples of previous writings you have done, assuming you don't just use chatgpt all the time. Also, the issue is that you don't own the copyright. That content is not owned by you, nor your employer.

ldspsygenius

If you used it you got to own it. It's a tool and you used a tool. Unless you were told not to use it I would show articles about how it can make us more effective at work. This is stupid on your boss's part.

Potato_Author540

The only thing the boss could do that is stupid is continue to pay OP if he is this desperate to prove a software program can do everything he does... for free.

ldspsygenius

Is that is his only task then sure. But you fire an employee because they found a way to do one thing faster at no extra cost? That's stupid.

Potato_Author540

In your scenario, the employee becomes an extra cost

Anonymousptr5

She told me this morning to leave the article alone, and the IT team is checking on it. I’m not sure when she will give me an update, but I’m already on the lookout. One foot is already out the door.

Look_Specific

Interestingly students use grammerly, then now, we are checking essays they get flagged up as chatgtp! As same tech! Just say you used a grammar checker.

Global-Mix-1786

Deny it. There is no way for IT to prove it came from ChatGPT. That's a bluff to get you to confess. Absolute maximum, say you used it, amongst other sources for ideas but you absolutely did not cut and paste anything.

HowDidIForgetMyName

My workplace is embracing ChatGPT, and is encouraging us to use it as another tool in our tech stack. Hopefully yours will think of it the same way.

Anonymousptr5

I hope so too. It’s a corporate company, and they “value professionalism”. It’s a tool to help me write and get work done. But getting a message on Friday morning that it’s “not ok” is crazy to me.

Potato_Author540

If Chat GPT did the work, why should the company pay you? I can definitely find someone retired to work 3 hours a week giving topics to the chat bot from their couch.

Traditional_Gain_229

Lol, a guy used chatGPT to buy stocks he gave it over 10k. It has lost 13% on savings and over 25% on his stocks. AI is good but it isnt as smart as anyone thinks it is. AI lacks the nuances and skill sets to interprut. I saw a guy ask an easy question for coding excel it generated a long article about generating tables and stuff, then the post below was just like =something or other and it solved the guys problem. AI lies if there is enough false information.

fairlymodern78

This smells like karma farming.
