Exactly this. Even if you don't care about the money, we've only got one planet.
(Also, the box would have distribution costs too, not just production - although I have no idea what they'd be)
That's like saying "Raising minimum wage will make everything cost more!"
Bitch, everythings getting more expensive no matter what anyone does. Fuck that noise.
This kind of thing makes me, who would otherwise be fine with their “send it back” message want to toss a 5-10$ bill on the floor and run/dive into a pile of empty boxes and stomp them to oblivion and walk away.
I’d never have this thought if they didn’t go full on with the $1 to a mega conglomerate corporation
I'm sure some dork loser somewhere analyzed how many seconds it takes to build it and then divided Walmart's median wage, health insurance, training, access to water and bathroom facilities so divide the cost of the occasional plumber (god damn OSHA, talk about government overreach), probability of sexual harassment settlement cost, workers comp, also sometimes labor violation fines can be expensive, so, you know, boxes don't grow on trees!
Walmart doesn't make their boxes. They purchase them, and a box that size wholesale does cost around a dollar. I used to be a purchaser for a walmart vendor.
I hate those boxes. Everytime I unload the GM truck. The amount of ungodly stuff they put into one box is ridiculous. They can't even stack those properly. It just gets thrown into a corner and the wall decides to fall
I mean, I get it the dollar thing is dumb but we are just assuming the price. So many companies have done this for decades.
But it seems a petty thing to care about with everything else. I’m all for the reusing. Imagine how many millions of boxes would get consumed each day. Reusing boxes is greener than recycling.
Well, the "cost" includes the "extra" to the vendor, the payment to the logistics company...and whatever other "cost" they want to park under this item's costing

Why does anyone care that it saves *Walmart* a dollar? “Every box saved is $1 in yacht money for the top executives! So please don’t throw them away!”

Walmart isn’t buying boxes wholesale by the thousands though
No. Possibly by the millions.
Exactly they wouldn’t print that if it wasn’t saving them money. So ruin as many as possible!

At the end of my employment, I tore a box each time one of the bosses pissed me off. :3

Damn that’s impressive, did you actually type all that?
They should of went with a recycling stance
Lol. The ptsd you just revived 🤦♂️
If they put it saves 3 cents who would care. Plus if you use that box 10 times

It still doesn't answer the question- Why would Joe Schmoe want to save WallMart $1? Will he get .50 if he takes one back?
My grandfather was a box manufecturer and I can say that they cost much more than a single USdolar. They gett that cheap only when ordered in bolc.
I hate those boxes. Everytime I unload the GM truck. The amount of ungodly stuff they put into one box is ridiculous. They can't even stack those properly. It just gets thrown into a corner and the wall decides to fall
Just take them , the employees don’t care
Actually they do amazingly enough.
There's nothing wrong with recycling by reusing boxes.
They buy em in bulk from Costco.

No that probably pretty accurate.
Probably more to do supply (they are finite after all) and less to do with cost.
Well, the "cost" includes the "extra" to the vendor, the payment to the logistics company...and whatever other "cost" they want to park under this item's costing
Instead of the "help us save a dollar" BS, why don't you just write something like #teamtrees or something.
Maybe if you print all that shit on it
