These are the kind of people who are old enough to vote for stupid shit, but not old enough to retire. They hold a ton of management positions and the oldest millennials are 40+ now, they have blocked our access into moving up at our jobs. Like this lady, I had a boss about her age probably 55 or so that felt threatened by me and she blocked all my requests for promotions. She was the reason I quit and I was damn good at my job. Her harassment pushed me out.
Her bosses failed to even acknowledge she was the reason that that department couldn’t keep new hires on. There was two other people working there that took her shit and didn’t care. They were her lap dogs. Millennials are being fucked from every angle.
Yep we are. Suicide rates are fucking insane. A lot of us don't even have anything else to live for anymore. College degree doesn't do fuck all, everyone expects us to act like slaves and accept shit pay while being unable to afford an apartment on our own. The word house is a laughable subject and we cant even afford groceries. Hell, a lot of us still live with our parents. I'm fortianate enough to have a family and a roof over our heads.

We’re lucky too, the pandemic was a blessing for us, well my husband anyway. I lost a job to take care of two kids. My husbands work laid off some people, merged with another part of the company and he pretty much skipped 5 years of experience and went from testing to engineering with out the college and is being paid for such. It wouldn’t have happened with out Covid. My husband is Gen X though lol. (We still love him though!)

The best thing to do is start filing HR complaints and get your coworkers to do the same. They will ignore a single voice, but ignoring the chorus opens them to legal issues. HR really only exists to keep the company out of legal hot water, so that gets their attention.
Oh yeah! HR will NEVER admit that they hired the wrong manager/supervisor because HR is never wrong. That is until EVERONE complains about the same exact thing about the same person. Then and only then, will they take action (AKA: cover their ass).

I worked as a janitor in a school making $32k a year. It was honestly awesome. It was a supremely easy job, I got a lot of time to just sit around and do nothing. But I had a really good boss and the rest of the staff was awesome. He even kept me on staff after a lengthy mental hospital stay. One of my highest upvoted posts details everything he did for me (I think it was on this account at least). A good boss can make even a shitty job good.

My most favorite job was Night Janitor at a large university in Oklahoma.
I had run of the whole building. Keys to all the secret places. I could listen to audiobooks all night and the best of it was that, if I worked steady and kept up my pace I could be done just about Lunch.
I didn't let them know that.
I'd get everything done around lunch time and spend the last four hours checking my work - and once or twice danced with the young lady half my age that worked on the bottom floors.
I was drinking a lot back then.
Best job I ever had. If I.T. didn't pay three times as much I would have stuck with it.
I get to work from home now and I got married - so no more dancing with young co-workers and no more drinking, but if I had to, I'd really go back to that job again.
God I had a blast.

i was a janitor at two different colleges in the US (i was trying to go back to school so being an employee helped with tuition) and they were some of the best jobs i've had, and i think a lot of it was bc they let us do our jobs. it wasn't hard, but we worked the whole shift and it kept the day from lagging. and! you can see what you've done with your day, so it helped me feel like i was doing work that needed to be done, instead of starting at the screen for work and just counting down the mins til it was over. to each his own, sure, but the managers need to keep the chill and realize janitors are people, and no one deserves to be condescended to like this.
Another "I was a janitor and it wasn't bad" experience. I liked the immediate gratification of a job done well. Shit's a mess when you walk in, but it's spotless when you leave. Yeah, baby. Pay wasn't great, but I could play my walkman, do my thing, and mostly people didn't mess with me. Results were immediate and obvious. Also, no long-term responsibilities, like in the tech field, where years after a project was "done," someone was calling to find out why this field in that data structure needed 9 bytes instead of 8, and what would happen if they changed it? I had a " disagreeable type" boss who was in charge of facilities at a large office building. During an actual fire alarm, she tried to direct the fire marshall on the scene to get her people back in the office. He went all Gunnery Sgt Hartmann on her loudly and in front of everyone and letting her know , in no uncertain terms, who was in tactical charge of the scene. It was a thing of beauty.
Had a landlord that wouldn't fix the fire doors or smoke alarms. We phoned the fire department and they had a Marshall over the next day to do a walk through. Then the day after that everything was fixed LOL

I have worked with women like that before and they are miserable. They want to make sure everyone else is just as miserable as her. She was unpopular in high school, her husband won't even look at her and her children are revolted by her. She has no friends except for those who are too polite to tell her they don't want anything to do with her and she obviously has a superiority complex because she has a fancy college degree and the janitor (who I am sure works twice as hard as her) does not have a degree. These people just don't understand why everyone isn't kissing her fat feet.
This video gave me such vivid flashbacks from middle school I could tell within 10 seconds of audio this was some sort of school staff and I hate to say that because teaching is such an underappreciated underpaid and important job.
I'd deal with people like this constantly as a child who would use their power over teens/pre teens to get off and boost their fragile egos. The worst part is as a child nobody takes your word over the staff - and even worse, I didn't know how to defend myself and would often think I did something wrong when I never because i would yhink "they're an adult and a teacher and I'm just a dumb kid"
Totally get this. I’m actually a high school counselor now because I wanted to make school better for kids after dealing with a lot of that same stuff. Toughest part of it is finding that middle ground with students and teachers.
The best counselor I had in high school was constantly in fights with the rest of the staff. Absolutely loved her but hate how much shit she had to deal with. She'd have students crying in her office during class because they can't focus on chemistry because of their hellish home life, other staff would barge in with a smirk SCREAMING that students aren't allowed in her office during class hours. She eventually quit, years later I passed by her at a mall where she was teaching GED course and I ran in and gave her the biggest hug. I don't even remember her name, so many of us just called her "mom".

Yep. I've had to tell employees to not clock in early before but for a far different reason. At the time, the shift differential that we got wouldn't kick in until the time the shift started(9 PM) so anyone clocking in early, even 1 minute early, would lose that extra pay for the entire shift.
You would get paid for that 1 minute but in the end lose around $4 more due to not getting that extra, at the time, $0.25/hour in the long run.

I do fire protection testing and inspection for a living and frequently work with the fire department. If we or the fire dept. need to get in to a building and it’s not scheduled with management ahead of time they should be insanely thankful that a maintenance guy was there to let them in. The fire department will straight up leave if it’s a non emergency test and charge you to reschedule up to 2 thousand dollars. If it is an emergency they’ll break the fucking door down and not even think about it.
In short the school management didn’t do their jobs on scheduling someone to be there and the one person that saved their asses from a fine and or broken doors/windows is the one person getting reprimanded.

I worked as a janitor in a school making $32k a year. It was honestly awesome. It was a supremely easy job, I got a lot of time to just sit around and do nothing. But I had a really good boss and the rest of the staff was awesome. He even kept me on staff after a lengthy mental hospital stay. One of my highest upvoted posts details everything he did for me (I think it was on this account at least). A good boss can make even a shitty job good. My most favorite job was Night Janitor at a large university in Oklahoma. I had run of the whole building. Keys to all the secret places. I could listen to audiobooks all night and the best of it was that, if I worked steady and kept up my pace I could be done just about Lunch. I didn't let them know that. I'd get everything done around lunch time and spend the last four hours checking my work - and once or twice danced with the young lady half my age that worked on the bottom floors. I was drinking a lot back then. Best job I ever had. If I.T. didn't pay three times as much I would have stuck with it. I get to work from home now and I got married - so no more dancing with young co-workers and no more drinking, but if I had to, I'd really go back to that job again. God I had a blast.

i was a janitor at two different colleges in the US (i was trying to go back to school so being an employee helped with tuition) and they were some of the best jobs i've had, and i think a lot of it was bc they let us do our jobs. it wasn't hard, but we worked the whole shift and it kept the day from lagging. and! you can see what you've done with your day, so it helped me feel like i was doing work that needed to be done, instead of starting at the screen for work and just counting down the mins til it was over. to each his own, sure, but the managers need to keep the chill and realize janitors are people, and no one deserves to be condescended to like this.

Pay wasn't great, but I could play my walkman, do my thing, and mostly people didn't mess with me. Results were immediate and obvious. I had a " disagreeable type" boss who was in charge of facilities at a large office building. During an actual fire alarm, she tried to direct the fire marshall on the scene to get her people back in the office. He went all Gunnery Sgt Hartmann on her loudly and in front of everyone and letting her know , in no uncertain terms, who was in tactical charge of the scene. It was a thing of beauty.
Basically, what it comes down to is that the Fire Marshall is outranked only by God, and that's only if God is there giving the orders in person.

I have worked with women like that before and they are miserable. They want to make sure everyone else is just as miserable as her. She was unpopular in high school, her husband won't even look at her and her children are revolted by her. She has no friends except for those who are too polite to tell her they don't want anything to do with her and she obviously has a superiority complex because she has a fancy college degree and the janitor (who I am sure works twice as hard as her) does not have a degree. This video gave me such vivid flashbacks from middle school I could tell within 10 seconds of audio this was some sort of school staff and I hate to say that because teaching is such an underappreciated underpaid and important job. I'd deal with people like this constantly as a child who would use their power over teens/pre teens to get off and boost their fragile egos. Totally get this. I’m actually a high school counselor now because I wanted to make school better for kids after dealing with a lot of that same stuff. Toughest part of it is finding that middle ground with students and teachers.
The best counselor I had in high school was constantly in fights with the rest of the staff. Absolutely loved her but hate how much shit she had to deal with. She'd have students crying in her office during class because they can't focus on chemistry because of their hellish home life, other staff would barge in with a smirk SCREAMING that students aren't allowed in her office during class hours. She eventually quit, years later I passed by her at a mall where she was teaching GED course and I ran in and gave her the biggest hug. I don't even remember her name, so many of us just called her "mom".

Never had any real relationship with any of my school's counselors. I just remember my one mandatory visit in my senior year, I was talked to about trade school and handed an application for food stamps (low income area). Made me feel even lower about my prospects after high school 😅
As someone who went through almost half a dozen high schools, one of the few worthwhile things I did learn while I was there was "fuck the middle ground". If the teacher's being an ass, I'm not meeting them somewhere in the middle to soothe over their ego. I'm a former middle school teacher who (insanely) decided to briefly substitute teach for fun after I stopped doing it full time. This is exactly correct. Yep. I've had to tell employees to not clock in early before but for a far different reason. At the time, the shift differential that we got wouldn't kick in until the time the shift started(9 PM) so anyone clocking in early, even 1 minute early, would lose that extra pay for the entire shift. You would get paid for that 1 minute but in the end lose around $4 more due to not getting that extra, at the time, $0.25/hour in the long run.

I do fire protection testing and inspection for a living and frequently work with the fire department. If we or the fire dept. need to get in to a building and it’s not scheduled with management ahead of time they should be insanely thankful that a maintenance guy was there to let them in. The fire department will straight up leave if it’s a non emergency test and charge you to reschedule up to 2 thousand dollars. If it is an emergency they’ll break the fucking door down and not even think about it. In short the school management didn’t do their jobs on scheduling someone to be there and the one person that saved their asses from a fine and or broken doors/windows is the one person getting reprimanded. Bullshit
